Good points thanks!! I think an X3 bean will do me just fine though. I am mainly doing recording with my PC. I have a tone port ux1 now that refuses to work streaming audio out at 24 bit with out major noise burst. So I am thinking of upgrading to an X3 hoping it will work better for me.

boss gt3 had a decent harmonizer on a chipset that is almost 10 year old !

could you at least make a model for the tonecore with exp pedal plug ?

While you can ignore it, and the installation will complete, Gearbox refuses to communicate with the X3. I guess it's a Snow Leopard compatibility issue.

Display has solid black bar on top line and shows Tone2 name below it.

I can reproduce this problem exactly as described. I'm confused why I need to be able to reproduce the problem in another manner also. If I could get my hands on another Pod X3 Live unit with the same firmware and updates, I suspect I could recreate the problem on that as well.

I thought about making a video of it to document it. So anyone could try to replicate the problem. Then I realized that you already have a similar bug logged, and that problem hasn't been addressed yet. Soon it will have been a bug that has been logged for a year, with no fix in sight.

So I don't see what good it will do to spend more time documenting this problem. Even if I can show you exactly how to recreate the problem on your equipment, I have no reason to believe that the problem is going to be worked on. This model and firmware have a flaw, and if I upgrade to the next firmware I have to realize that I may be trading this problem for another problem, which is what happened to me with this latest update.

Of course this is not what anyone expects out of their gear when they spend their hard earned money. But reading through these forums it's pretty clear to see that stability and consistent functionality aren't to be expected with the more advanced Line 6 gear. It's probably much more reasonable to expect some kind of problem and either live with it or find some kind of workaround.

My question has not in fact been answered, but since it doesn't seem that there is an answer, nor any reasonable expectation of an answer, I can understand wanting to close this thread. Perhaps marking it as "unanswered" would be more helpful to me and other Line 6 users, as it is misleading to claim that it's been answered.

Unless "answered" means that Line 6 doesn't have an answer. Or Line 6 has no plans to address this problem (since you are saying it's different than the other problem and are unable to replicate the exact problem I've reported). Obviously I have a problem with calling it "answered" as that seems to imply that it's been resolved, or that a resolution is pending.

I understand that there are statistics to keep, and having unanswered questions doesn't look good, so please proceed as however you are required to do by your employer. You are just doing your job after all.

4 method cable with a Pod X3Live

I´ve also tried the 4 cable method solution. I use it in combination with Mesa Boggie Triaxis. Unfortunately there´s a huge hum/noise, especially if I use the high-gain modes of my Triaxis. Is this usual? Any comment on this?

BTW, One more question. What are the recommended settings with regards to the MIX / send / return functionallity of PODs FX loop. Which setting of MIX is parallel respectively serial?

Amp for Pod X3

I use the JBL EON 15G2. I tried various tube amps, solid-state amps with guitar speakers, etc. But I found I wanted 2 things, I wanted total control over my stage volume, I didn't want to count on the sound man to turn my volume up or down in the monitors, and I wanted my tone on the stage to be as close as possible to what was going out of the mains while going direct (not micing my amp). And it has worked out really good. I just did some test a few weeks ago comparing my 100W tube amp with the X3L and another modeler driving the JBL and the modeler/JBL totally kept up with the tube amp in volume, tone and feel, I was surprised how good it sounded. I also tried a 120 watt solid-state poweramp drive a passive monitor and it just didn't have enough power, it sounded good until I tried to keep up with the drums and then it pooped out.

The thing to remember is that it take 2 to 3 times more solid-state power to equal tube power so if you're gonna crank it you'll need plenty of power, personally for a rock band I'd recommend 300 watts minimum. Besides the JBL, I would also look at the Mackie SRM or the new QSC K12.

I haven't tried any keyboard amps myself but I'm sure there are some that sound equally good.

You need to monitor the sound from the X3 - not your computer sound card. When you use the POD with a DAW (your Sonar in this case) the POD becomes the soundcard, and all sound being played back is routed to the POD.This is true for monitoring sound while you record as well.

Try plugging headphones into the POD, or connect your speaker system to the POD outputs (headphones or other).
