Line 6 Edit on Windows 7 32bit

I installed Line 6 Edit version 3.02(which says "This version of Line 6 Edit is compatible with JRE 6") on a Windows 7 32bit PC. I also installed the Java environment JRE 6 Update 16.

I'm getting "Could not find valid Java runtime" error message when I launch Line 6 Edit.

Any idea on how i could resolve this issue?

I just won a Vetta head with issues on eBay and I do not have it yet nor have I paid for it. I'm hoping not much of a problem to fix....I got it cheap, I was not expecting it to sell that low. Here are his words direct from eBay........it turns on...lights up...all menus..knobs work.....the cab has a speaker thump like its gonna work when you turn it on...but nothing comes out.....if you go out the line outs you can hear it..and record direct...but i cannot get the amped outs to work....i may be doing something wrong..it may be broken...either way im thru with messing with it....i have reinstalled software 3 times on it with no luck..im over it......cosmetically it is in great condition..not perfect...but really good...it has not been gigged with ..only studio use.

I'm thinking the external speakers are turned off since he was using it to record and for got to turn them back on. Will external speakers not work if they are turned off? Could there possibly be another problem going on here? Not too much invested so far so if it's a few hundred dollars to fix it, I'm not that concerned, I would think that if something major was wrong the direct outs would not work either.

I just purchased a used vetta II 2x12 extension cabinet and the "LINE 6" logo on the front is scratched up a bit. I noticed in the Store that I can purchase a logo for a 4x12 cabinet. Is it the same size as the 2x12 vetta II cabinet logo?

I bought this used Vetta in January, I dont get time to play a lot maybe once every two weeks but during my minimal playing my Vetta has suffered twice with no sound no display, first time I had to initialize and load OS and presets again several times before getting it to work again.

When it happened first time, I thought my kids are responsible for something cause they like to press lots of buttons on the amp when I am playing, so now both kids are banned from touching the amp at all, but today it happened again and I am wondering is this pointing to some underlying problem, maybe I got a malfunctioning Vetta to begin with?

Any help/advice will really help.

Vetta HD 1 vs. 2 cabinets: speakers comparison

why the cabinet relative to Vetta1 HD has Custom Celestion speakers while the Vetta2 HD relative one has V30s? is there any difference in sound generation between the two heads to justify that? if yes, this difference can be overcome with the update? when using the V30s loaded cabinet you still allow CAB/A.I.R. emulation or bypass it to get the full potential out of the V30s?

i'm about buying a 2nd hand Vetta1 HD and i'd like to know if my 2x12" Celestion Classic Lead cabinet is "rubbish"...

Vetta II and FBV Shortboard mkII

Having a Vetta II and not one, but two dead FBVs I decided to check out one of the cool new shortboard mkIIs.

Before purchase things I liked:

MIDI! I've wanted a decent midi foot controller for ages for use with things like Amplitube, Guitar Rig and Sonar

Price $200 is in the sweet spot for me

Size. Though the FBV obviously has more buttons and therefore more functionality, it's really big and doesn't fit in my stuido/bedroom as well as I'd like

Updateability Can't argue with having a USB port that can be used with firmware upgrades.

Expandabilty I like having a second expression pedal.

Before purchase things I didn't like:

Quality Having two dead FBVs wasn't encouraging.

Size. Though I wanted something smaller, I would have liked the option to get a full sized mkII

So I got one last night. Here are my findings so far:

It works well. While there are plusses and minuses, overal I do really like it.

Things I like:

It immediatley worked with the Vetta -- no necessary setup or fooling around at all.

Expression Pedal. Excellent feel. Better than the FBV pedal and I can actually engage/disengage the wah while sitting.

Expression Pedal II. An extra expression pedal worked immediately with no setup or fooling around.

Programability Though I haven't explored this yet, I believe some of the buttons (Func 1 and 2 in particular) can be programmed to do different things.

MIDI. I was able to get it working with Amplitube and Guitar Rig pretty much immediately. I am somewhat of a midi expert though I so I can't speak to how easy or difficult this would be for someone who is not. You do need to at least understand the difference between control changes and other types of midi messages.

Size. It really does fit better in my playing area and the buttons are a bit more convenient for playing when sitting.

Things I don't like:

Missing Buttons. Though I can live without them, having buttons for all three stomps is annoying.

Bender. I can't for the life of me make the pitch bender in the Vetta work with either expression pedal. I may have just not figured this out yet though.

Midi not working with everything externally. While it works well with Amplitube and Guitar Rig, I can't get Sonar to work with it at all. Very disapointing.

I would give this thing a solid B+ at the very least. It has good feel and works pretty simply. I supsect that it would work REALLY well with the amps that it was truly designed for, in particular the new Spiders and anything else that Line6 might have coming.

The price in particular works well. I really couldn't justify spending more than $200 for something like this. Given that it works well with other midi pc based stuff really helps. I would love to see a version of this that had midi ins and outs. This would be killer to connect to a cyber twin or other midi controllable device.

Vetta stuck on 16D

Hi, I just recently got a used vetta with everything preety much upgraded (2.5). but when i play with it for a while at channel 16D the vetta just locked to it and wouldnt move. When i tried turning the vetta off and on the vetta had a blank screen but was still locked onto channel 16D. Explanations?

What is the sense of the Mono/Stereo switch?

I use my Vetta II HD with an Engl 412SS cab. I just use one amp of the Vetta without any stereo effects. So I decided to use it like my 2204 as a mono guitar amp. => Left/Mono jack and Vetta set to mono. But additional I have to set the Amp Panning of the used amp to "full left" th get the full volume. When I set it to middle, the sound is lower, Amp Panning to right causes NO sound.

This is the behaviour I expected of using the Stereo setting, just using the left output jack.

From the manual:

24. Left/Mono: These two jacks are wired in parallel and output the left signal (if
you’re running in stereo) or the mono signal if you’re running mono. Be sure
you’ve chosen the corresponding stereo or mono operation on the Vetta front
panel as described in page 4•35.

Mono/Stereo
This page also lets you choose to operate your Vetta in mono or stereo. This is generally
most valuable on the Vetta HD in case you’re using a mono setup, but feel free to
mono-ize your combo if that’s what makes you happy.

Changing Amp Panning
Whether you’re working with a single amp, or two at once, you have complete
control over where they’re placed in the stereo field. You may want to have your
two amps panned hard left and hard right when they’re both on (which gets really
exciting when you’re using separate left and right cabs with Vetta HD, or the Vetta
combo with an external cab in Split Stereo Mode as described on page 4•43), but
then when you kick your FBV switch to turn on only one you may want that amp to
be panned center. To edit your amps’ panning, press the Amp/Cab Details button.
Use the Page knob to select Page 2, ‘Amp Panning’:
AMP1 MIX sets the pan of Amp 1 when it and Amp 2 are both on. AMP1 ONLY
sets pan when only Amp 1 is on. Same idea for the AMP2 controls. Press Amp/Cab
Details again when you’re done, and this display will be dismissed.

My new Vetta 2 combo does not sound anywhere near as good as my flextone 3 using the same models.

My Vetta 2 does not sound anywhere near as good as my flextone 3 using the same models (is running 2.5). Is this a known issue? Compared to the Flex 3 JCM800 model the Vetta version on the same settings sounds lifeless, has MUCH less gain and sounds more "digital". I have copied the settings from Flextone 3 exactly and the JCM800 in particular sounds NOTHING like my beloved Flextone, maybe this amp isn't for me. Is it using older modelling technology than the flextone or maybe not as powerful and detailed since it has to do 2 amps at once? Any help before I take this thing back would be greatly appreciated.

Problem: "Stale" ringing after notes occuring...

I have a vetta 1 combo, and out of nowhere, a ringing started to occur after muting a chord or note last night. I've never had any problems with the amplifier until this. The ringing acts as though the gate is slowly stopping excess noise, but this noise was never present before. It is noticable on all distortion-drive amplifiers, some more noticable than others, but nonetheless still there. I've tried different guitars, cables, stripping down the setup to meerly the amplifer and guitar, isolated the tones down to simply one amp and no effects, etcetera. Nothing seems to work.

Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

Is it possible that reinstalling the 2.5 software and completely renewing everything will help? (With the exception of backing up on Line 6 Edit, older tones, and putting them back into the amplifier)

Line 6 Vetta II and Midi

I have posted this discussion before and my first thread is rated as answered, so I launch it again.... Sorry, but I'm quite new here :-)

If I connect my vetta II I have no problems using Line6 monkey - the device is detected immediately. When I switch to line6 edit I can't make a connection to the vetta.

After de- and reinstalling edit and java without solving the problem I have contacted ESI-support, because it seemed to be a problem with my midi usb device "ROM i/o II". They say that if monkey works and edit doesn't it indicates to be a problem with midi implementation within edit. Their advice was to buy a m-audio device if everybody says it should work then. They say m-audio doesn't use standard midi drivers and maybe line6 edit has a problem with their midi implementation. Does this sound plausible and will line6 improve their software sometimes?

Vetta 2 Head or X3 Pro and Mesa Poweramp?

I'm stuck. I like the way the Vetta 2 sounds, but I need to be able play a lead, then switch to rhythm and have leads trail off naturally (reverb/delay) and not end abruptly.

So, I am thinking of trying an X3 Pro with a Mesa 400 Poweramp - The X3 is dual channel and will allow me to do what I want to do in this regard. To my knowledge, this is not possible with the Vetta 2.

Any thoughts on how the tone of the proposed X3/ Mesa combo and Vetta 2 might compare?

This would be in a LIVE setting.

To Line6 - diagnosis for "access error" ?

Hi All at Line6. I want to get my Vetta I Combo fixed, but before I drive 60 miles to the nearest repair center and spend $150, and since this problem is intermittent (which means the repair center will not likely be able to reproduce it), I'd like to know if anyone at Line6 knows what the problem is when the error on the display reads "access error". I'd appreciate a response, definitive if possible, from Line6. If the repair center cannot duplicate the problem, they're going to ask Line6 this question anyway. Thanks so much. thorne

UPDATE - I left my amp on for about 6 hours, plugged in an FBV Shortboard and proceeded to change presets from the pedal continuously and rapidly. I was able to reproduce the "access error" three times. I'm guessing that overheating may have something to do with it. I hope this helps you help me diagnose the problem. As a programmer for 30 years, when I get a specific error message, what I do is go search all the code for occurances of that error and see under what conditions that error occurs. Line6, if you could do that for me, I think it would be a great help. Thanks.

Connecting Vetta to Windows Vista 64 Computer

I "upgraded" my computer to Windows Vista 64-bit and cannot figure out how to connect my Vetta to my computer. Didn't have a problem doing so with XP. The M Audio Midisport UNO I used with XP doesn't work. I attempted to update the drivers for the UNO but M Audio's site said "This device will work as a class-compliant device. No driver is needed for basic use" with Vista 64 and that Vista would display it as a USB audio device. But when I plug it in Windows asks for a driver. I would like to use Line 6 Edit to tweak but can't unless I can connect the Vetta to the computer. Suggestions?

Also, if and when I can get the connection issue solved, has Line 6 updated Monkey and Edit to work with Vista 64 SP2?

Everything is working fine but the display works only from time to time.

Usally i get stuck with the first channel on the display and the led.

Is there a setting somewhere ?

Vetta II MIDI USB connection problem!

I have this problem with the connection of my Vetta II using the MIDIsport Uno. I updated all the drivers, java and all that but for some reason the Vetta is not connecting with Line6 Edit, I get a message saying:
"Could not connect to the Vetta II combo. Please check all MIDI and power connections and click 'Refresh' in the tone locker."

I checked all my connections and Im not using a USB hub or anything..

Please give me the solution to this problem.

Need to Replace Vetta II Combo Amp Master Volume Pot

I need to replace a Vetta II Combo amp master volume pot. Can I order the pot from Line 6, or get specs for it, so I can buy one? Better yet, can I replace the stupid, pain-in-the-butt linear pot with a logarithmic (audio) pot? That is what should have been in it from day one.

My wife has a Vetta II Combo Amp with what appears to be a faulty or dirty volume pot. She'll be playing along at a low level (practicing in the bedroom) when the volume will suddenly spike to maximum. It only took a couple occurances of that to make her afraid to use it. I'm concerned that it may blow the speakers. I have been unable to reproduce her experience, but have been able to make it better for her by quickly moving the master volume from min to max a couple dozen times. I fooled around with it for a while and was able to get a minor spike while not touching the knob, to get no change while turning the knob, to get minor spikes while turning the knob, and the like.

Before I open the thing up and attempt to repair the pot, I want to know if I can buy a replacement. Replacing it would be better than tring to fix it.

I'm a electrical engineer who has been repairing and replacing pots in devices since I was a kid fixing the neighbors pong and Atari controllers. I hate the things, sure they are cheap and get the job done most of the time, but they are horribly imprecise and inevitably prone to nasty failures. I've converted most everything that I presonally use or design to Hall or optical sensors for many years. Once I get her amp fixed, I may see if there is a suitable Hall sensor out there for next time...

Hello All

Just purchased a used Vetta II off ebay and it arrived seemingly safe and sound today. Plugged it in and everything was great, until I pressed the effects routing button. Initially after pressing it nothing happened, noting at all. After about 10 seconds is when all hell broke lose....Stomp box and effects buttons started flashing, the amp started changing channels, and it continued in that chaotic state for 30 to 45 seconds. So, that's when I started pushing all the buttons and found the Channel D, the Delay, and some times the Mod buttons all have the same erratic effect. The Gate button engages the tremolo most of the time. Amp 1 on and the Tremolo buttons don't seem to work at all.

So....I installed all updates and flashes via the Monkey.....and still no change. It seems I can make any changes to the amp via Line 6 Edit with no apparent problems.

Any thoughts on this matter would be greatly appreciated!

Technical question about Bender in new Vetta II software update.

I downloaded and installed the latest Vetta II software, but the new pitch bender won't work. I went into the foot control and turn pedal 1 to bender, but I get nothing. I step on the pedal to turn it on and it doesn't do anything.

Is intelligent pitch shifting available for Vetta 2.5?

I see that Spider has intelligent pitch shifting. I have 3 Vettas and have always wanted that capability. Since Vetta is the Flagship product I am hoping Intelligent Pitch Shifting would be available. Also, can I use my volume pedal on an FBX Longboard for controlling the whammy aspect of pitch shifting yet? Thank you!

Vetta II HD: Stomp Boxes and Post effects

I noticed while reading the Vetta manual that the user may use different effects in the stomboxes. The user can also use post effects. What would different with the sound if you used an effect such as delay in the stompbox section as opposed to using it in the post effects section?

just wanna ask a quick question before i buy the Vetta II HD,

i know you can download sounds and patches on to the vetta head,

but i saw on the line 6 website that you can download all the vetta sounds at once, and then transfer them on to the head.

there are loads of sound there and the bank name like 13A or 14B, can they go over 100 so it becomes 100A or 231B i know thats a lot of sounds but i just want to find out if you can put more than 100 banks on the vetta.

also it comes with 64 factory and 64 user presetscan that go over 64 to over 100 say??? because i dont think the screen is big enough.

Does anybody know how to save a particular wah-type on the Vetta II? When I change the wah type on my Vetta II (the "conductor" is my favourite - especially with overdrive!) and save it in the channel I'm using it works fine as long as the Vetta is powered up but after switching off and on again it has always changed back again to the "Vetta wah". The same happens in Line6Edit after saving the channel. Maybe there is a way to save the "conductor" as the default type instead of the "Vetta wah"? Btw I have the latest software update vers.2.5.

My vetta (1st generation) completely failed about two years ago. It was still working, but not quite right, when I took it to an "authorized service center". $60 for a service call and I'm told nothings wrong. So, instead of driving 50 miles, as they are the closest, I try a local tech. He can't get Line 6 to cooperate since he's not "authoized". After having it in his shop for months tring to get it to work, he suggests I try dealing with them myself. I called and hope to get a return authorization number and ship the thing back so they can fix it.The number is (877)865-4636. Good luck to both of us.

Hello all... I just got my used Vetta Ii in the mail today I b ought (heck of a price... $500 for the combo and FBV) and I was super excited. I figured I would update it to the latest version (2.5) and start from scratch, erase anything the previous owner used. I can get all the way through the flash process, but when I hit "save" nothing happens. When I reboot it, still a blank LCD. I've tried this several times and am really freaking out... please help!!!

I have a m-audio uno MIDI interface cable with the latest drive version (5.2.3.016) for windows xp, the problem is I have tried numerous times to update the flash drive on my amp but when I get to the part where it is complete I hit the save button and nothing happens, I then power the amp off the on, still a blank screen. I have tried everything I can find on the web and everything else I can think of, Please if anyone has any ideas please let me know I am very frusterated that I can't play my amp... Thank You.

I was updating some tones into my Vetta 2 last night. Needless to say the amp wasnt working correctly so I went to reinstall version 2.5. Now I have no platform what so ever and have failed miserably to upload the latest firmware. I have lloked through tutorials, downloaded the latest driver for my usb interface, tried everything. THe usb interface seems to be working the lights are all lit. I even went through the visual tutorial and although my Vetta has the same problem as the tutorial with and unrecognized previous version, I follow the tutorial to the letter not being able to get through the entire thing. I go to save and nothing. I dont know what else to do. PLEASE HELP!!!

Variax - Vetta Connection

I have been using a Variax connection cable between them both. Only recently the Vetta has been making a hissing sound and a crackling sound on and off... it appears to be the cable.

Is there any other advice or info on this please?

Hello line6. I am writing you because, as of about 7 or 8 last night, my Vetta will not operate whatsoever. My initial beef is WHY USE MIDI CONNECTIONS to serve as update/backup ports??? It just seems too adventagous to use a USB or even Firewire port rather than TWO MIDI connections. If data throughput is better, I apologize, but I don't think that's the case at all. Now this also leads to my REAL beef. I initially thought that I had it whooped and would use the MIDI connections on the back of my Tascam FW-1084. I mean, they work awesome for transmitting MIDI data at a high rate of speed for my recordings. I tried hard to get it, but ended up calling tech support after I could not. The fella there said that IT WOULD NOT WORK, which really confused me, but OK. I guess I need to "upgrade" my MIDI throughput to my computer. I then found a REASONABLE price on a USB to MIDI cable over e-bay for $10. Now, at least the computer could tell me what I had hooked to it, and even tell me what version of software I was running. Hell, it even told me that I needed to upgrade to 2.5, which was all I was trying to do IN THE FIRST PLACE. OK. I started the install. Everything was going fine; my little "monkey" was taking care of everything. I started the upgrade, when I noticed the message on screen went to "update complete, hit start to run your software" EXTREMELY prematurely. I thought, "no way, it's just a fluke". I mean, my new little USB/MIDI even lit up when the data was being transferred. But, to my dismay, after doing the upgrade, my Vetta is now the dumbest amp head in the world - nothing comes up on the message screen, unless I hook it to the computer. Being digital and having those upgrade capabilities, as well as being able to back up anything I create on my sound to my computer is the SOLE REASON why I bought the damn thing in the FIRST place. Yeah, I'm pretty ****** right now. I am wondering, "why in the HELL did you all put MIDI connectionS on this thing instead of a good old USB port", and also, " why did my little ******* Line6 monkey allow me to get so far into the update process to where, basically I have nothing unil I get the "reccomended" cable"? Why, if you guys are going to require such a unique connection to a computer, couldn't you just put a damn cable in the box? It would've made my life a ton simpler. Hell if NOTHING ELSE send me a coupon for a few bucks off the expensive-*** cable that is required for computer connectivity. SHEEEESH!!!!!!!! It would seem that Line6 is in cahoots with M-Audio just to make a buck....

Bender Problems

Ok, so I recently got a vetta with the upgraded 2.5 firmware and the FBV Longboard. I did some looking around on the internet to figure out how to turn the bender on. I got that, but although I have the heel down shift at 0 and the toe down shift at +12, it's not quite working right. The pedal controls pitch shifting when I have the Stomp 1 on and although toe down is one octave above the pitch I play before I turn stomp one on, heel down is one whole step above the actual pitch I play for some reason. For example, if I play an open e on the guitar and turn on the pedal, toe down yields an e one octave higher and heel down yields an f# one whole step above the original e. Any help with this would be appreciated. Yes I am sure that the heel down is set to 0 pitch shift. I checked several times.

I received my Brand New Vetta II HD today. plugged it in and the channel display (Alpha part) is not working, It lights up, but is not showing any information. I have an original vetta and Im trying to upgrade it. I bought as Midisport Uno MIDI Cable. It has the two midi plugs an In and an OUT. I installed the software. I Installed Line 6 monkey. Line 6 monkey seems to not find my Vetta amp. Im plugging my amp directly to my computor via the midi cable to usb port. The monkey program directed me to erase my vetta then reload the vetta upgrade ... nothing has happened. Very frustrated ... need help...

I have just returned to the live scene after some years of only home work, and since I need a new amp for playing with my band, I was thinking about getting a Vetta II head.

I was almost convinced of goint to it, but suddenly I came across a good opportunity to get an HD147 and that immediatelly ringed a bell: getting the HD147 + a POD X3 pro and use the HD147 as a power amp. To my knowledge, that would be pretty much similar to a Vetta II, and like 700€ (+-800$) cheaper.

(Additionally, as I still work a lot in my home studio, that would have the benefit that I would not have to carry the Vetta head to the rehearsal room and back: I could simply leave the HD147 there for rehearsals, leave the POD X3 at my home studio, and merge them into a POD X3 + HD147 PA when I'm not recording something at home.)

So I would like to know your recommendations about this idea, and also what features and/or tone quality I may be missing when using a POD X3 + HD147 PA instead of a Vetta II. I know there is something related to stomp boxes and that cool idea of the double tracker, but I'm not sure that's 700€ worth. (Could the double tracker be simulated adding a little touch of chorus to one channel, maybe?).

(In my new band we play mainly metal from Symphony X to Annihilator, but my solo projects include classic blues and mike oldfield-like new age, so I really need tons of versatility.)

FBV Wah Not Working

For some reason, the Wah and Volume Pedals on by FBV board are not working. I've made sure that the parameters for the pedals are set for wah and volume respectively, but when I move the wah or volume pedal I don't hear any change in the sound at all. The rest of the FBV board seems to work fine. Is there something else that I need to change or set on the Vetta to get them to work? I can only assume that the CAT cable is fine since the rest of the board works. And I don't see the pedals being broken, since this is only the fifth time I've ever used the board. Any ideas? Any input you could provide would be greatly appreciated!

Im not sure if this matters but the vetta uses a 2A 250V or a 4A 125V cord? I lost the cord that the vetta came with originally but i cant find a power cord in that range around my house. The closest i can fins is 10A 250V and a 10A 125V... can i just use them instead?

I first bought a Flextone III, then a UX2 ( it was a revelation !)

After that i bought all the plugins for the UX2.

I sold the Flextone III and then bought a X3 live and a spider valve ( great combo !!!)

Now I want to buy a Vetta I with the update to version 2.5

I have my bender set up to only bend down 1/2 step. In fact, I only press the bender pedal about half way because that's all the bending I need, and such a shord bend is the best choice for chords. When done bending, I always leave the pedal in the heel (zero) position. When I switch to a patch, the patch sounds normal, but the first time I use the pedal to bend, when I return the pedal to the zero position, the patch's tone is altered. Generally speaking, the tone sounds thinner, as if bass and other frequencies have been attenuated. It's not a massive difference that would indicate the whole system going haywire, but a noticeable (and unwanted) change in tone that's easily verified by a/b'ing. I mean, it's easy to use pedal A to switch to a patch, bend a little, return the bender pedal to zero, give it a listen, then press pedal B and back to A to hear clearly how the tone changed once the bender was used.

Is there some fix for this?

I just wanted to share what happened with my Vetta. I'm curious to know if this has ever happened to anyone before? I recently purchased a used Origional Line 6 Vetta Head. I wanted a Vetta II, but it was out of my price range. So I found a Vetta I for what I thought was a good price online (which was said to be in "perfect working order") . It arrived at my door, and I was super excited. I hooked it up to my computer via direct outs and set up presets, did some recording. It sounded great! So I brought my Vetta to band practice to set up my presets and jam. I hooked it up to my 4x12 cabinet using quality cables and the suggested ohm raiting. It sounded terrible, then one channel went out completely. Then all I could smell was smoke coming from my cabinet. Being naive about the situation, I ordered a new cabinet. The new cabinet arrived two days ago. I follow the same procedure, used good cables, correct ohm settings. The EXACT same thing happend, with the addition of my Vetta Head is now smoking along with my NEW cabinet. At this point I would like to drop my "new" Vetta head off the nearest bridge. However, due to the credit card bill that I have racked up for a bunch of burned up equipment. This is simply not possible. Due to the amount of time that has passed (about 2 months) paypal won't help me to get a refund from the online store that I bought the head from. The online store won't even return my emails! So now im in debt, have no gear, and Its causing some serious friction in my band. Needless to say ,I wont be jamming anytome soon.

Here's my question...

There is something majorly wrong with my vetta head. I'm guessing in the power amp protion of the head? How much will it cost to repair? The closest Line 6 support center is about two hours from me. With my current lack of funding it will be a while before i can afford to get the head repaired, let alone replace my two nuked cabinets. I'm just looking to see how much i have to save up?

I just bought a FBV MKII to use with my Vetta running 2.5 software. I am up to date with all of the latest software via Monkey.

Can someone tell me what buttons work/do not work with the Vetta. Function 2 seems to turn off Amp 1. Function 1 does not seem to do anything.Tuner works great. Can't get the bender to work. Is there really only one button for Stomp boxes. How do you control Stomp 2 and Stomp 3. How do the Modulation/Delay/Reverb buttons map to Vetta II?

The FBV MKII online manuals were not much help.

Hello

I got my Vetta HD 2 months ago or so, and started practicing with my band a week ago.

After some time, 1-2 hours or so the Vetta starts making very strong noises, and makes it impossible to work!

The noise comes randomly and can destroy a show easily.

One time I've looked at the Vetta when it happend and it was saying "Implemental line6 of code" or something like that, but I can't say it's connected to the problem, since it doesn't happen all the time.

If this problem continues there's no way I'm going on stage with the Vetta.

i thought it was supposed to be like that. it is very loud and almost impossible have around in the studio.

okay so i dont have the vetta, but i feel like line6 is the only forum that will help me out

so im playing a blue voodoo, 120 watt all tube amplifier.
and im plugging it into a behringer 400 watt cab.

the head is 8 ohm and 16ohm compatable,

and the cab is also

Switchable 16-Ohms mono or 2 x 8-Ohms stereo operation.

okay so which settings do i want to use?

since the cab has 2 inputs, should i plug 2 cables in?

I'm trying to make my sound louder-for lead solos, not too much too ask? so i copied the sound to the next channel and increased the volume...next i push save...i get the little save screen (save = excecute tap = cancel etc, but when i push save the screen briefly flickers to something too fast to see, & back to the save = excecute screen. am i doing something wrong? i've not tried saving sounds before so never noticed a problem, i'm running v2.5 with as far as i'm aware no other problems (although the disply doesn't appear to be backlit, but it still works i just need a torch to read it) but just in case i have left it a few months and re-installed today with no change.

any help greatly appreciated.

Midi timeouts connecting to Vetta 2 with Line 6 Edit

Hi there,

I have the latest firmware (2.5) for the Vetta, latest version of Line 6 Edit (3.02), Java Runtime 1.5 installed and I'm connecting to my Vetta 2 combo with a M-audio midisport uno. When starting up Line 6 Edit the Vetta is recognized but about 25 seconds into the connection process (where the Line 6 Edit is downloading data) I get a midi timeout window stating that Line 6 Edit couldn't connect to the Vetta. The message suggests checking midi connections and cycling power on the amp. That doesn't work of course.

I've tried rolling back to firmware 2.11, removing and reinstalling Java, updating drivers for my Midisport Uno all to no avail. The same problem exists.

Line 6 Monkey sees the Vetta just fine. Is there something I'm missing? I'm also using Windows XP SP3.

Is it possible just do the Vetta Patch Update (without the Vetta Flash Update first)?

I maybe had a bad tone. Everytime I passed the 13A patch, the Vetta hangs and no button works at all. Power off - on - just 13A, no sound no functionality . The only way to get him alive was to do the Vetta Patch Update. So I have first to update the Flash via Monkey then update the patches. Flash Update alone doesn't work.

Weirdest thing, but my Vetta II has developed a mind of its own. It apparently wants me to play with a dirtier sound because the drive turns up spontaneously! I have tried turning the amp off and then on, unplugging it....this has been happening for a few days. The drive turns up and the save button lights up all by itself.

I have a Vetta 1 and had to flash the memory to fix a problem that I was having with it cutting out.

The good news is that the Vetta flash program on the Line 6 site fixed the problem.

The bad news is that the Vetta II "Trademark Clean" sound is different and I would like to get the original Trademark Clean sound back.

Is there any way to get that sound back? If someone has it in their Vetta I and saves the stock Trademark Clean sound as a User sound could they e-mail it to me? And could I load it?

Are there any other options?

Has anyonelse notice that the CAT 5 cable on the back of the VETTA II is not very snug fit.When I am playing my lights on my pedalboard blink and screw up, and get all funky on me while playing. Then I have to goto the back of the amp or the front of the pedal and wiggle the CAT 5 Cable.I have 2 LINE 6 cables, they both are not snug fits.Has this been improved?Cause it looks like I may need another cable or something.This is ridiculus, How much I spent and how awesome the amp is, but when I am jamming ,in my band,It screws up at least once (usually more) a night.Has this been looked into?I am a big supporter of Line 6 gear and would like to know if this has been addressed ,being addressed, or recommendations or solutions to fix it?? With out carryng a pack of matches to hold it in place.

I purchased what I believe is a Vetta 1 combo. It has the silver control panel and the red grill.

From what I've found, it seems that the vetta 1 didn't have the rear variax input and that this was a feature added on the vetta II

The model I have has the variax input at the rear. Was there a couple of different Vetta 1 models as the owners manual for the vetta 1 doesn't mention the variax input.

I'm just curious if this is at all possible (I hardly understand ohms and I can't make much sense of the stuff I've found on the internet.) I know its an odd question but I already have 2 Avatar 4x12's and I'd like to get another. Would it work if I daisy chained two off one side of the power amp and ran the third off the other side of the power amp? If so, what ohmage would everything have to be? I have a bit of a problem: My Vetta II HD with a 2.5 upgrade has been my pride and joy for some time now, it's just that we decided to start recording some stuff and won't you know it, I can't get any normal sound out of the outputs

Not on SPDIF, AEU/... , Direct outputs give me the same. I've fiddled about with the settings on output pages, but nothing works. Even when turning the AIR II system off, it keeps on buzzing and crackling.

I have bought this beast with the 2.5 upgrade installed. Also the output over the 4x12 cabinet is fine, which makes me wonder if it might be a Firmware problem or....??

Please help me out here, it's because of the stereo outs and the massive options I've bought the thing to begin with.....

(also couldn't find any service center in the Netherlands by the way....)

I was jamming with a friend a week ago and right in the middle of playing my sound cut out. I let it sit for an evening and tried to play it the next day, same thing. I hooked it up to record and the XLR outputs and 1/4" worked and so did the modeling part of the amp. What I have now is basically an advanced, super-heavy POD and I want my amp capability back! Any suggestions as to why this may have happened??

Imn geting extremely ****** off, ive spent 7 hours now trying to get the sound i hear coming from my speakers to come out of the direct outputs to record direct to my computer, ive messed with every mic in the a.i.r. , tried thenm all with all the options, ans adjusted the dir trim. and with the air mics off its just complete distorted mess.With my old flextone head i just plugged the direct outs right to my computer and bingo, there was a great sound for recording, why cant this happen with the vetta? everything is either too choppy and the bass is spiking or it sounds like complete garbage. i dont want to mess with the eqs on all of my channels because theyre saet for my cabinet to sound good. plus i did try that already and it didnt make much of a difference. im running unti the ux2 ive always used with my flextone, and gearbox is set up to have no amps, or cabs, or anything on. its just running as a monitor as ive always done. this thing should have much bettrer sound than the flextone for the price difference but it doesnt. ive been playing for 13 years and im usually pretty good with this stuff. ive always been able to get good tones ive recorded many cds before the vetta came, and they all kick ***, can anyone suggest somthing to help out here. i do not want to mic the cabinet. i just want to hear the sounds i hear when playing comeout the direct outpuuts.

Vetta 2.5 update problem "Bad model default"

Automation through my laptop on the Vetta HD

Hey

It might sound like an odd question, but I was wondering if I can make automation to my Vetta II HD through my laptop and only after that to save presets to the banks. (mostly changing between pedals)

Let me explain, I'm prepering for a show, though I don't have the cabinets yet to make the final presets and put them inside the Vetta, I do know exactly where should I'll be needing distortion, clean etc.

So can tell my computer guy make automation through the laptop, saying to the Vetta to go from 1A to 2A sound on bar 38? (for example ofcourse...), and insert the presets only after a few days ( the distortion to 1A and clean to 2A for example) and the automation won't be deleted and won't be touched?

If I connect my vetta II I have no problems using Line6 monkey - the device is detected immediately. When I switch to line6 edit I can't make a connection to the vetta. what can be wrong?

They say that if monkey works and edit doesn't it indicates to be a problem with midi implementation within edit. they advise me to buy m-audio, because m-audio doesn't use standard midi drivers and maybe line6 edit works like that. does this sound plausible and will line6 improve their software sometimes? regards, chris

I bought a new Vetta HD one week ago.

I really didn't know what to decide, the POD X3 or the Vetta HD, but I decided to go on the Vetta HD mostly for live needs.

I was really (really) suprised to see that I do not have the Bass pack in the Line 6 Edit.

Can it be that I bought a devide who cost X3.5 from the Pod X3 and I don't have the bass pack for direct recordings in my studio???

I've had my Variax 300 for about 2 years now, and just recently bought a brand new Vetta II. I haven't used my Variax for a while as the supplied power adaptor stopped working and I couldn't find one to buy anywhere. But when I bought the Vetta II, I decided to start using it again as the amp should power it. My problem is that the Variax doesn't show up on the System Setup menu of the Vetta! I'm using a brand new RJ-45. I was wondering what the problem is? I thought maybe it could be that I haven't updated the firmware for my Variax since I bought it, but i don't have a USB connection for it so how can i do it!! HELP!!!

Vetta II HD Speaker Outputs not supplying sound

I recently played at a large festival and hooked my Vetta II HD's power into the main power source which had mulitple power pieces of equipment plugged into it. When I turned my amp on, the sound started cutting in and out. The more I played over about a 10 min. period, less and less sound was produced from my cabinet until no sound at all. I thought maybe that I just wasn't getting enough voltage to my unit, so I took it home and reconnected it like I normally do (over 100 times or more - I also made no changes in the way I hooked things up at the gig), and again absolutely no sound out of my cabinet. Either the main output stage on the PCB to the speaker outs is burned up from a power surge or a fuse is blown. I have not opened the unit to check - I bought the unit in 2003 from American Musical Supply. Also all the lights work, the direct outputs work. The only problem is the speaker outs. And yes I've checked page 4-32 of my manual of the Output Setup and the Normal is above OUTPUT. Please tell me what I need to do. Whether it is to ship the unit to you or to an authorized repair shop near Augusta,GA.

I really need this unit back ASAP. I guess it's out of warranty(I did register it on this site), so I know I'll have to pay money to get it fixed. So where do we go from here?

Vetta update 2.5 caused problem

Besides the effects loop that can run direct to a single unit; how would you go about connecting a Vetta II through an analog mixer and controlling seperate processors via rackmount? Would the Vetta's interface interact with the processors through midi or other configurations, and if so could I save settings from the external processors into the Vetta so if I were to switch channels the fx would be both controlled and stored? If not what would be the best way to setup such a configuration?

Line 6 FBV Floorboard problems

I have a Line 6 FBV Floorboard (the longer one with 2 pedals)

Recently I heard a weird rumbling sound inside my Floorboard.

I unscrewed the FBV and try if I could see more from the inside. I saw a screw that hade came off from somewhere, I figured out that the screw had to get back in its place

At the hole in M1. Though I noticed also an other hole that was empty but there was no second screw that I found loose.

So I looked underneath the Green mechanical board, and I saw a black piece hanging with a hole in it, witch looked liked it was missing a screw,

The black piece is attached to the Cable input device that runs above the green board.

I also found a weird white hard cloath, and I really don't know where that came from.

I really wonder what I must do with this situation, someone please help me.

Vetta Stompbox Routing

I have a Vett II upgraded to 2.5 doftware.

I recently wanted to play with the stompbox routing feature, but when I press the Effect Routing button, nothing happens! The button does not light up nor does the routing screen appear.

Could there be a problem with the amp or could it be a software problem. I was even thinking that it may be a hardware problem (for example the button is not working). If this is the case, is there a MIDI command that can kick off the Effect Routing operation.

I've recently bought a Vetta I HD head & cab second hand which had been updated with Vetta II software, and it worked great but I had trouble trying to enhance the sounds to settings that I like - then I discovered the library on the line6 site so I treated myself to a midi interface cable. I then went to go on it and it said that I had go onto line6 monkey to ensure that I had the most upto date software and register my gear which I then did. The head wasn't a problem although I wasn't 100% sure which cab I had as I can't find a model number on it. Anyway, following registration, I then connected the amp via the midi input & output to the computer - it said that it couldn't verify the amp, but to continue if the connection was correct as it appeared to be. I followed the instructions for the Vetta update. Once the update was complete, it said to press 'save', or 'switch the amp off the back on' if save didn't reset it (which it didn't). However, after turning it back on, instead of coming back on as it should, the main screen went blank, and the amp selection screen showed 7 blocked characters (squares). Since this has happened, the only thing that registers on the amp is turning it on with the comp button pressed to run updates. There are no amp models, effects or sounds.

Can anyone help???

The only things that I can think of is that being second hand, it had already been registered so it has blocked updates as a security precaution or that the midi-interface isn't compatible, though it appeared to work - it was flashing away as the update was running, and the drivers are in-built.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated?

Hi I live in Korea. I have purchased brand new vetta 212 combo amp from japanese seller.

I have tried to upgrade with usb midi interface. I have followed the manual instructions at line 6 website.

I follwed the instruction by the line 6 monkey wizard.

I found the massage " update complete...press save.." in line 6 monkey wizard and I also found the " software download complete press save button" massage on the front pannel of vetta1 amp.

I pressed the button, there is no response ( only small dots on the front pannel massages) . according to the instruction of line 6 monkey turn the amp off and on. but did not get back to the operation menu. I was running the upgrade more than 10 times( I've changed the computers with different OS, XP pro, Vista, another XP; upgrade drivers, all other USB device off....did everything according to your FAQ and troubleshooting recommandations) It does not working!!

How can I solve this problem. If there is some problem with upgrade to flashmemory, I just want to get my vetta 1 original amp function and sound.

How can I restore factory setting now?

There is no service center in Korea now, I called the old line 6 dealer today, they had no idea.

Vetta II Reverb not working

I have a Vetta 2 hooked up to both a cabinet and directly into a mixer. I just noticed that the reverb in the signal chain is not working. The global reverb works fine. I thought it might be a routing issue, but it doesn't work out of the cabinet or through the PA. Other effects (i.e. Delay) work just fine in the same signal chain. In fact, if I turn the reverb mix all the way up, I lose all sound. Any ideas?

FBV - VART 2 error

I'm using an original FBX (before name changed to FBV) with my Vetta.

Today I had issues with my FBX not responding/communicating with the amp. It powered on OK but then the display just read "LINE 6" and buttons were unresponsive.

I tried a different CAT5 cable with same results.

I tried powering on with Reverb and Compressor buttons depressed, then running the FB Test.

This told me that I have a VART 2 error.

Can I fix this myself or do I need to get it to a service center? (Nearest one is over 30 miles away)

I have a patch that initializes with bender on, mix = 100%, heel = 0, and toe = -1. By pressing the pedal about 3/4 of the way I emulate using a whammy bar on a full chord, which is the only way I've ever wanted to use a whammy bar. As people know, if you want to bend a chord, even the one semitone bend makes the chord sound funny, but the effect works OK for the narrow bend I want to do.

The problem is that when I switch to the bender patch it initializes with the pedal all the way at toe (the bender bending down the full semitone) regardless of the physical position of the actual pedal. That means playing on the new patch is unusable when I first switch to it, so I always have to move the pedal and return it to heel before playing anything after switching to the patch. That's not good. I can't find any values that will initialize the bender with no bend at all, where the Vetta initially treats the pedal as if it's at the heel position regardless of its actual physical position. I've tried setting position = 0% on the Pedal 1 Settings, but since that's where you choose the wah model that setting is apparently not active when Pedal Function = bender. I've tried setting heel = -1 and toe = 0, which is the opposite of the bend direction I'd prefer, but that doesn't work either: bender always initializes bending the full semitone down, with bad musical effect. Is there a way to initialize a patch with bender active but not bending at all?

Updating Vetta/Variax Software

I'm totally lost here. It's been a couple of years since I last tried to update my Vetta II and Variax 300 software. So, the first thing I did was to download the latest versions of Line 6 Monkey and Line 6 edit.

I downloaded the latest Line 6 Monkey and installed it .

I downloaded Line 6 edit, but it wouldn't install because the installer program said I needed java runtime environment installed, and when I clicked OK, it said it couldn't download the JRE file. Tried again with my firewall turned off. No luck. I googled for Java runtime environment, but it wouldn't download the file. I went to my control panel -- it says I have java (version 6, build 12) installed. Is this the same as java runtime environment? No way to tell. And line 6 edit won't run because it says I don't have java runtime environment installed.

I tried to back up my user channels before running Line 6 Monkey, but when I plug my MIDI interface into the back of the Vetta II and the USB into my Windows XP laptop, nothing happens. Is there some software that's is supposed to interface the MIDI cable?

Vetta II EQ and volume levels with Genz Genz G-Flex cabs

I have a question about the eq and volume levels when using the vetta II with my two genz-benz g-flex cabs and John Petrucci model music man guitar. I use one of the 5150 model presets, but I changed the eq a lot and turned the effects off. I have the mid level at about 9 o'clock, the presence is at about 8 o'clock, the highs are at about 9 o'clock, the bass is at at about 11 o'clock. The gain is at 11 o'clock and the volume level is set to 12'oclock. When performing with the band, the master volume is at about 12 o'clock. I am also using the 4x12 Line 6 cabinet model with my cabs because it sounds better than turning the cab models off. ( The 4 band eq is also on as it was with the preset.) This patch sound amazing; I have no complaints. Later I added chourus to this patch and it sounds great.

For a lead sound I changed three things: The gain is now at 1 o'clock, the mid is at about 10.5 o'clock, and the channel volume is at about 2 o'clock. When I'm playing with the full band the lead channel sounds shrill, as if there is too much high end. I experimented with turning the chorus off, but the high end shrill is still there. It's not cutting throught the mix very well. It seems like the sound is becoming flat--like there is very little dynamics in the output. I don't know if that makes sense to anyone, but that is the best that I can desribe that sound. That always happened to me when I cranked my flextone III XL master volume up to midway. I thought that I was driving the power amp too hard , and that caused the flat reponse, but I didn't think I would have the same problem with the Vetta II.

I remember buying a Peavey XXX a few years ago that sounded terrible with the band when the eq was set improperly, but after a useful suggestion, I cranked up the mids and backed down on the highs, lows, and gain, and the amp roared to life easily cutting through the mix. The problem with the Vetta II with the 5150 model is that even modest adjustments to the mids seems to have a large effect on the overall sound. In my case, increasing the mids seems to push the upper mids up higher resulting in harsh sound.

Has anyone experienced this? Do you have any tips? Perhaps I should get a Line 6 cabinet????

My Vetta has recently begun to stop playing when I switch between channels

I have had my Line 6 Vetta for about 4 years.

Three weekends ago it began to act up and continues to do so. Here is the problem.

After playing for about 1 hour the amp stops playing when I switch between amp settings using my foot control.

The LCD on the foot control will not change and the only way to get the amp to unfreeze itself is to turn it off and then back on. It then plays fine for a while and repeats the problem.

With that said, the amp has never stopped working until the footcontrol is used for a new setting.

Before playing today, I reloaded the User bank from the systems utility. Still froze up twice in 2 hours.

Any advice?

I have 2 problems with my vettaII Head

1st problem:

I had already posted a topic on an old version of the forum ... named dancing Knobs

the knobs on the LCD screen moving everytime (the treble knobs more than others) which does not allow me to make changes on the fly in rehearsal or concert.

The solution was to change the buttons (from line6 support), because my head had "older buttons" which were too sensitive...

So I changed the buttons, after receipt by mail ... It was very fast, REACTIVITY 20/20 !!!!!!!

This has not changed!

But in fact even with the fader volume to 0, and without speaker still it moves!

I have to set it to 0 and i can just play with the Master Volume of the head ...

If I want to change something, and I have to come back home and through line6 Edit i can modifiy...

If it comes to moving ... I have set it to 0 and shut down gain the head!

2nd problem

After multiple handling, presence knob is completely torn !!!!!!

It therefore becomes quite complicated to make it to 0 !

Some times it is to 12 o'clock, then after he falls at 8 o'clock ...

I wanted to know who and where is the official repairer, or who can to fix it !

I live in the south of France (Marseille), and like to you can see the english is not a easy task !!!

Nobody has the head line6 Vetta around me so it's not obvious to exchange and compare ...

On the forums I also found nothing about my problems ...

I am very happy with the head and I do not want to change ... but it becomes difficult to use outside my home!

I have an X3L and I think to get a Vetta II in a near future.

But, before doing it, even knowing the Vetta II offers more flexibility, I would like to know some details, and maybe someone knows the answers.

a) Are the sound of stomb boxes, compressors, delays and reverbs practally the same, in both, or do you note big sound changes?

b) Vetta's pitch shifter really works fine or sound like the "Bender" (just one note per time)?

c) Vetta I's users can improve the software to the newer version. Veta I was release many years ago. Considering X3 Series was released recently, do you know what gear has the most powerful hardware (clock, processors, memory...). I fear to get the Vetta II now and, in the future, Line 6 releases a firmware atualization (even paid...) that gives X3 Live the same flexibility and capabilities found in Vetta.

So, are they working on a replacement? Before i plunk down some $$ i want to make sure Im not buying something that is on the eve of being obsolete.

Please help me. I am almost possitive I did this correctly. Plugged the USB/midi cables into the Vetta combo, Midi in connector to the Midi out on the (device) Vetta, and Midi out connector to the midi in ont the vetta. USB into the computor. Answered all the questions in order along with the vetta's screen. At the end. Blank screen. the computor read, if it did not register on screen to redo. I did this 3 times and nothing. What do I do. Did i loose everything? How do I restore the Vetta and maybe even start all over with my effects?

Does anyone know if a Vetta Combo Amp is upgradeable to the Vetta 2 software? (I assume this allows it to operate identical to a Vetta 2). Also, the amp is 100 Watts but is stereo; Is that rating for each channel? (making it 200 watts total)

I'm currently running a Vetta II head here in the US, and getting ready to bring it out to tour in Europe for the first time next month. I've posted about this, and been told that there is a way to get the Vetta running on 220 natively rather than running an external voltage converter. Any ideas how to do this?

I looked into simply buying a US voltage regulator, but I can't even afford to buy the 'cheaper' ones. Our backline company will be providing 110 to 220 converters, but I'm worried about getting clean power to my Vetta without cooking it.

Any help or suggestions on how to help me with a Vetta in Europe would be most appreciated!

Why is my vetta II sound kicking out

When using some specific user-tones (example, Mississippi Criminal), the tone will play for around ten seconds and then cut out, then I will have no sound, I change the channel and change it back and still no sound. If I turn the vetta II off, the exact same thing of playing for about ten seconds will happen. Why is this happening, it never happened to be before while using these tones and just recently started acting up?

Hi there, I bought this used Vetta I that has the first version Vetta II firmware. I just puchased it last Thursday and the guy I bought it from is on tour right now, don't know if I can get a hold of him or not. I need to get the 2.5 upgrade since I have some upcoming gigs that I want to get this amp ready for. As far as I know, the guy I bought it from was the original owner....any suggestions if I can't get in touch with him.

Vetta II Digital Delay problem...can NOT figure it out!

The "mix" on my digital delay does not seem to work at all! When I'm setting the mix it seems to work fine but as soon as I save it and come back to it later it seems to turn the mix all the way up, BUT the settings look just like where I saved them! For example, if I pull up the digital delay and set the mix to 10:00, it sounds perfect, I save it....when I come back to it, it sounds like the mix got turned to 3:00 or the max BUT it show's that its still set at 10:00. Is this a bug and if so then how do I fix it! I LOVE the Vetta but this is my MAIN effect that I use! I though maybe it was just the patch I was in so I started another one from scratch and it did the same thing! Any idea's?

because all the effects will be the same wont they?

Here is the problem on my Vetta 11:

I switch on the amp, and a message pops up saying "illegal instruction". So, I switch it off and on again - and get the message "standby".

Nothing I do has any effect and there is no sound from the amp at all. The amp does not respond to any dials turned or buttons pressed.

Please let me have your advice.

I've been trying to get this question answered for days. Maybe I was given wrong info by customer support on the phone, I'm not being understood by the folks answering the question online or I'm not asking properly. I was told on the phone that I need to backup my presets for my vetta 1 combo before I install the software for vetta 2 or my presets will get lost when it installs the new flash memory and drive. To save my presets I need to download line 6 edit. Now here's where it gets confusing. When you download edit it says to go to monkey, download latest drivers and flash memory so line 6 edit will work. Obviously I was told on the phone that if I download the latest flash memeory it would erase my presets but if I don't update the flash and other drivers I can't use the program that would allow me to save my presets. In other words the only way I would be able to save my presets is to erase them. The info i'm getting totally contradicts itself. Is there no way to get this explained to me in detail. Like step 1) turn on your computer and list the steps I need to take from there. Step by step. Please treat me like a moron. I've wasted hours on hold to end up hanging up in frustration and hours waiting for responses on this forum. It's been 3 days. Is the 8185753600 the only customer support line? Am I talking to authorized line 6 support people on this forum? A 5 minute phone conversation would probably clear all this up but I can't seem to get ahold of the great oz that seems to be line6 customer support. I have the midisport uno so I'm ready, willing and able to carry on. Thanks in advance to customer the support person who I'm confident is going to answer my question this time.

Vetta changing sound sporadically.

In the last couple of band practices I have a two problems occuring at sporadic times through out a 4 hour time period. Vetta II/FBV and Variax 500 setup.

I will step on a preset and it comes up and works fine. I start playing and the sound changes (sometimes loud,soft,too much crunch assorted things) If I step on that preset again it will bring back the expected sound. Happens here and there not any pattern.
When standing in the playing position but not touching the strings sometimes I get a burst gain without touching anything. Sounds like when a noise gate is all of a sudden turned off then enagaed. Again, this happens sporadically here and there.

I have tried using another Variax cable and cat 5 cable to my FBV but that did not make the problem go away.

Any suggestions? (reflash firmware,Vetta battery?)

Hi,

I just started playing with the tone on my Vetta II HD. I am playing through a 480-watt B-52 Cab with celestion speakers and am using an ESP-LTD F-400 with Active EMG 81 pickups. I have noticed there is a buzz in the background in the clean channels, almost as if a distortion amp is mixed in at very low volume. It's as if there is a signal overload somewhere. I have tried changing the power modes, mono, stereo, using the noise suppression and compressor, playing with different eq's and volumes and nothing seems to work. I am trying to get a 100% clean sound with out any buzz, fuzz, or signal overload sounds.

Is there something I'm overlooking or is there something up with the hardware?

Vetta cuts out for 2 seconds after patch switch

I have never exerienced this before.

running 2.5 with Variax

Created patch, copied it to next location and only changed amp model on one amp in the second patch

Now everytime I switch between the first and second patch I have a drop out of sound. When I first hit the button, sound is there, but after one second I get about a two second drop out. This only happens when I go from original to copy, not copy to original.

I have not experienced this with any other patch to patch switches in my banks.

Must say it was better back in the days where you just had an amp with 1 volume knob :-) Well ...just kiddin´ My vetta combo sounds great, but now i have another problem.

I have the FBV board with only 1 pedal, and in the manual the board is described with 2 pedals.

I can´t get the pedal to work as a volume pedal on the patched i have created this weekend.

There are other patches where it works fine, but not on my new patches, so i know the damn thing works.....

When i look at a patch where the pedal works as volume pedal, i can see that it is assigned to "Level"

But on my new patched i don´t even get "level" in my options... I have gain, and all the other stuff.

What am i doing wrong ?

Dropouts in Volume

My vetta II combo has lately been dropping in volume. Not only to the speakers, which i think is a bad connection (one speaker will go out), but in the direct out (xlr) to the mixer. It also seems like my presets volume has changed on it's own. I am halfway thinking of backing up my presets and reinstalling v2.5 Any suggestions or thoughts?

I have a problem with the connection of my Vetta II using the midisport uno. The drivers are updated and java uninstalled and reinstalled with the Line6 edit install. Line 6 edit cannot connect to the Vetta II combo. My computer reconized the midi sport uno . antone know of a way to test the midi sport cable or know of any other ideas to try. I have uninstalled and reinstalled everything 3 times with the same results.

Noise Gate Q?

Is there any way to quicken the attack on the gate? Even cranking the threshold way up doesn't really close it fast enough for quick machine gunning style playing. I tried putting in a Rocktron Hush before the input with the built in gate off, and it takes care of cutting the signal, but it leaves all the amp noise. Use the Hush AND the onboard gate and there's a strange fluttering when one goes off and then the other, it's too noticeable to be a effective live solution. Any ideas?

I recently hooked up my Vetta II combo to a Marshall 4x12 cabinet and ever since I have been having problems. Whenever I jam with my band for about an hour or so I start to notice the sound quality degrading and eventually the volume starts to die to the point where I can no longer be heard over the drums. At first I thought the problem might have something to do with the fact that I was not using a proper speaker cable to connect the amp to my cab. After purchasing a new speaker cable the problem persisted. I'm wondering if it might have something to do with a heat issue? Whenever this happens the amp is extremely hot...to the point where if I touch the underside of the "head" section of the amp I can't hold my hand there for more than a second or two. Any ideas on what might be going on here?

Ok, I flashed my Vetta II to 2.50 and then installed the Armin mod. Now my knobs and buttons do not respind to touch at all. Should I have "deleted all presets" when installing the Armin mod? I have no user presets yet, just the factory stuff and I was afraid it would delete the factory stuff (I wanna check those out). Also, were there just three Armin cab mods and does anyone know which cab is supposed to be what?
