Hey, I am about to buy a spider jam. I just tried it the other day but wasn't able to record the guitar only on the SD card, without the "band". Is it possible?

Recording guitar alone is the function that interests me the most with this amp, I don't give a f*&k about jamming with the recorded songs... thanks for your help!

I have a Spider Jam with a FBV floorpedal.

I play acoustic but in a live situation i have to switch from a certain sound (Don't be casrck, Userbank A) to an other sound.

This time I use the looper, but than don't get the guitarsound I want. What is the most easiest way to change the sound in a second.

But than in an other song I use a drumpattern and later I need to loop my guitar but when I push play, the drums starts and the sound isn't

the one I want.

How can you change the sounds?

And how do I get the sounds, the looper and the drumpattern whenever I want it to.

Hello, first of all excuse me for my bad english.

Well, i jave bought a Spider Jam just 2 days ago. I have done my first recordings and saved them on the SD Card, but now, when I try to move the files from the SD card to the Computer, the format they have is .jam, and i cannot open them on any program of the PC.

So the question is : ¿ Is there any way to convert the .jam files into .wav or .mp3 or something like that ?

FBV Express Problem w/ Spider Jam

I bought a new Spider Jam from Guitar Center, and found a FBV Express used in the resale shop of a local music store. I tested it there, on a Spider amp that they also had for sale used, and it worked. Brought it home, plugged it into my Jam, and the lights come on, it displays an "L", and the a "6", all the lights flash and then go out. After about 10-15 seconds, one of the green LED's comes on, indicating that it's in volume mode, but then it doesn't actually do anything. None of the switches have any effect, on the amp, or the display on the FBV. Since the unit appears to come to life, and run though it's own self test, I'm wondering if there is some sort of a firmware issue, or compatibility problem. Is there hope for the thing, or did this amp kill it somehow. Don't understand why it would work at the store and not here.

The process described in the manual is not working. The last step "press down button" takes you back to the previous menu and does not delete the file

Playback of CD input louder than when recording

I use the CD input to feed the stereo output from a set of digital drums into the Spider Jam for recording rhythm loops on the fly. However the playback volume of the drums is significantly louder than it is during recording. Not a huge problem when the drums (or whatever I put into the CD input) are recorded first but if I'm overdubbing them then they overwhelm everything else once they start looping.

Plugging the drums into the AUX input works fine, but I want to use that for a bass track.

I suspect it may be because the CD input is stereo but playback is in mono. The mixdown from stereo to mono may be changing the volume.

Am I missing something or is it the stereo/mono mixdown causing the problem?

Spider Jam Resets When Using FBV Express Wah Pedal

I thought this problem was solved, but it's not. When I'm playing along to a recording, my Spider Jam resets randomly. When I say reset, it's like it was powered off and then back on for everything except the power. The music stops, the LCD goes through its startup process, and then the amp comes back to life, but any unsaved recordings are gone, and the settings are where they would be if I did do a power cycle.

This only has happened since I got my FBV Express pedal, and it only has happened when using the wah pedal. I tried playing for a while using the volume pedal the same way I use the wah, and it seemed fine with no resets. This has happened with three different CAT 5 cables, including the one from Line 6.

I plugged the amp directly into the wall, but it still resets. I've been working around the problem by switching off wah after a few minutes. Only seems to reset after about 5 minutes of continuous wah pedal use. Switching the wah off and then back on again seems to buy me another 5 minutes.

I have the latest Spider Jam firmware. The pedal is a couple of days out of the box, and if I can't fix it, it's going back to the dealer. Or maybe it's a problem with the amp. If anyone has some ideas, I'd love to hear them. Thanks.

Hi,

I do want to enhance the sound a bit in order to get a cleaner tone and sustain effect.

Today I use the FBV Express (MkI) with my SJ, but no other external effects.

Is there anyone that has any experience on adding a box like for instance

"Boss CS-3 Compressor / Sustainer pedal" , or similar (suggestions?),

in combination with Internal FX on the SJ ?

Would this be a nice sounding solution - or should I rather look into an effect box like "Boss GT-10" or perhaps a LINE 6 XT or X3 Live ?

(In second alternative I would have to use one of the other, more or less clean, inputs like AUX/CD I've learned.

I have both the Spider Jam and the Shortboard MkII floorboard. Is there any specific info on the two of them together and how to best utilize the pair...I know that you must have the floorboard set to performance mode to access some of the buttons..There must be a way to program the function 1 and 2 buttons to do what you want. I would like to access the main functions of the jam by foot without having to go to college again..thanks

Noise on Spider Jam

Hello, first of all sorry for my english. I'm Italian and I bought a used Spider Jam just yesterday. I already did the firmware upgrade to 2.09, everything seems to work perfectly. I noticed a noise coming up suddenly when I play on a song base or drum base. It appears while I'm playing and it decreases the global volume (base and guitar) and you can hear that something is not working properly. I stop my playing and I can clearly hear this noise-vibration. The only way to stop it, is to take out and re-insert the jack of my cable one-two or more times. Doing that, this noise stop. Just to be sure, I have used several cables, all of them new, the problem is still there. Any idea? Thanks a lot.

I was concerned about one of my SD Cards crashing my SJ. Joe would you have any idea what would cause this? Or Line 6 Miller or any of you guys out there? The card worked fine for about 2 months and then it started apparently causing the amp to "pop and re-boot." It did this 4 times and then I just wouldn't plug it in any more. The first time it crashed was just with one of the tracks but it would read the rest of the tracks on the card. Then it crashed everytime I plugged it in. It wouldn't read anything on the card. I had the card completely filled up with backing tracks and songs. And the other full cards I have work perfectly (so far). I have been going through the rest of my cards to see if they are o.k. and they seem to be. I have about 9 other full cards. Could this be just one isolated incident with a defective card? I was concerned when I read some other folks were having the same problem. Could the WAV files I've put on there be somehow corrupted? I have owned the SJ for over a year and it is GREAT. I always do the same procedure as far as dragging the MP3's into i Tunes and converting to WAV and have been successfully doing that ever since the upgrade to 2.09 so I can rule that out. Any input/opinions/information anybody has on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

I am a little older than most of your users who are fluent in this computer age with digitized data. I am frankly a touch overwhelmed with the new advanced Spider Jam manual, but would like to soldier on and attempt to get the most out of this amp.

I mostly use this amp for jamming/practicing, and rarely record anything because frankly I don't think the end result sound is very good (used to analog, I guess). As such, I am particularly interested in the new time stretch features (the backing tracks sound pretty bad if I change tempo/pitch) on the firmware update, and would also like to use the sound card to install new backing tracks if they are available.

My main question for you is how do I get the data from the firmware update on my Mac to the SD card. After that, I think I can use the Advanced manual to get the data from the card to the amp. (At first I thought the SD card was analogous to a floppy disc; i.e. loaded with data that I could just plug into the back of the amp and download. But I guess that's not quite right, huh?)

Are there new backing tracks to play along with on the firmware update? There's a bunch of ones on the Spider Jam that I could easily delete (Outlaw Country nonsense, etc.) and replace with better ones. Also, I was wondering if you have the chord changes to these backing tracks posted anywhere; most of the tunes are simple, but there are a couple with rapid fire chord changes that I can't quite get.

Hiss problem with new Spider Jam

Not sure if this is a problem, but something doesn't seem right. When I have the volume cranked up around level 4 or 5 I get a hiss sound from the amp. The problem seems to be directly related to the mic input. When I turn the mic trim nob up the hiss gets worse. Even with the mic trim nob turned all the way down and the mic input level set to off, i still hear the hiss starting around level 5 of the master volume. As a note, if I plug in the headphones I don't hear any hiss.

Just bought a used Spider Jam off of Ebay and want to upgrade the firmware from 1.04 to the current one. Why in hell Line 6´s Spider Jam doesn´t presents playbacks similar to Fender´s G-DEC? On Fender´s G-DEC we can find amazeing peaces of all blues styles, simple and very usefull.

Spider Jam´s playbacks are an aleatory queue of rhythms, coming from all kinds of tribes, not displayed in alphabetical order...

You can´t find a Chicago Blues in its best examples...No Texas too. Shuffles. Minor ones! Ballads!

Only a cover of Thrill´s Gone...Everyday I Have the Blues is awfull! With Blues Stomp you can just stomp the neighbourhood...

Please, let´s put something like the attached.

I hope that I have contributed to becomes Spide Jam a better companion.

High Pitched Scream with Volume

When I turn the volume up on the Spider Jam, usually around 11-12 o'clock, This shrilling high pitched scream comes out of the amp, which sounds a lot like feedback. I don't believe it is feedback, because it's dead quiet, until I reach that point, and then bam. I play with a band, and the amp sounds amazing, but when it comes time to play, I either have to turn it completely down until it's my turn, or I have to deal with this screech in the background thats as loud as we are.

I've messed with the Channel and Master Volume to try and combat this, but no luck. It's when I turn the Master volume that it screams. I have passive pick-ups on a ESP-KH202. COuld it be the guitar? Or is it something with the Amp? I just bought this thing in March I believe, and I'd hate to see it busted already. Any help is needed ASAP. Thanks so much for any replies.

Just wondered if anyone can help,

Iv been having some trouble with the master volume knob on my Line 6 spider jam amplifier for some reason I’m getting a delay between rotating the knob and actually hearing the volume turn up or down this can take anything between ten seconds to a minuet at first I thought maybe I was having a stroke lol but this has been happening for around three months now and all though it still works its just a bit of an inconvenience and am worried this may get worse over time.

I have tried everything, I checked in my manual, Endless play is on, And if I record with/without drums or a song it records only up to 50 seconds and a 6th of a second then it will go to play and replay what I just recorded. This is driving me crazy please tell me how to fix this problem. I can't be creative and write songs anymore being limited with only 50:06 seconds to record in. This is so damn aggravating...Is this fixable or Do I need to use my warranty? It never did this before I moved it from my jam room where my band plays to home so I will have something to play on here at the house and it started doing this. I used to be able to record as long as I wanted to with a drumbeat now I have just 50 seconds to do it. Can't do anything with that sort of time.

I have recently purchased a Spider Jam and have now had the opportunity to turn it up. It is however rattling behind the LCD plate. I note I am not the only one to have this problem as it is something to do with the padding foam under the cabinet above the amplifier electrical area.

Had my Jam for a year now, and for the first time this evening I had to save a recording to an SD card. Unfortunately, every time the Jam tries to access the SD card, the amp 'pops' and resets.

I got the same sort of problem: did all of the upgrade steps; up and until step 7 of your document; saying: Verify the update was succesful by previewing a few songs and drums. That went all ok but suddenly the message came: clipping: the red light went (although nothing was plugged in at the moment) on and the amp is not working since that at all. So tried to do the factory reset (pressing setting/tone togther with the on switch but still the same Line logo and Spider jam logo are revolving; nothing is working! The only thing that comes to the scree (after pushing the knob Guitar; MCU Version 1.05) What should I try next? The 2 gig SD card had been formatted a number of times now; with the fw.bin document newly placed on it several times; and still I am getting the same result as stated above.... many thanks in advance!

Jamming with a Line 6 Spider Jam amp, I am looking for a software (if it does exist, which is something i do not know) that will change your .wav files into .jam files to be used in the SD card and into the Spider Jam amp.

Can anybody tell me if this software exists ? If so can you tell me where to download it ?

Spider Jam stops working during upgrading process/steps

I've tried four different SD cards between 512M and 2G and I tried using both Vista and XP to format them. Three of the cards are Sandisk and one is Toshiba. So far, nothing has worked. My SpiderJam keeps giving me the same error message, telling me that the card isn't FAT16, when in fact it is. Is their a specific brand and model of SD card known to work? Can Line6 make one available? This would certainly alleviate a lot a frustration with an otherwise great product.

I just bought a spiderjam at daddy's junkie music. I am having an issue with it when i turn the volume to about half i am getting really bad feedback. I have tried several different guitars, and the mic levels are turned all the way down, any ideas. when it works it is the best amp i have ever had, but i just can't get it louder then half volume (sometimes quarter volume) without a feeback issue.

I have a Fender Stratocaster and a Gibson Les Paul Standard. I was trying for the sound of the Ventures in "Walk Don't Run" for one but I can't seem to get pure stinging notes from either guitar that I hear on the CD"s. I'll be playing my guitar, everything working fine, then all of a sudden, on the screen it will "Headphones In" and it won't play, I never put a headphone jack in my amp, then sometimes I can't play for hours cause it reads that headphones are in the amp, when nothing is near the headphone jack, can anybody help me out?

2.09 Update Problems

I'm trying to updatefrom 1.04 to 2.09. I formatted my SD card, downloaded fw.bin file, held the save button while powering up and I get nothing. The display on the SJ shows a animated icon of a SD card and asks me to insert to upgrade. Turning th ewheel gives me nothing either. Any ideas? The SD card works fine in my laptop as well.

Hi,

I habe a spider jam and want to buy a foot controller for it. The old models are not buyable anymore.

The problem is that the compatibility list of the mkII controllers do not show the spider jam as a compatible unit.

Can I use the mkII with the spider jam. Will it work recording and looping?

Direct Recording to Tascam 2488

I have a Spider Jam amp and would like connect it to my Tascam 2488 NEO recorder. The recorder has a direct guitar connection on the front, but the on-board Tascam effects are terrible and I would like to use the Line 6 effects (and other external effects that I have.) I rather not mike the amp, but somehow connect it to the Tascam without damaging it.

Is the doable? If so, what are the connections that need to be made? I do not see a LINE OUT on the amp.

Transfer songs via RCA distorted

Hello all!

When I use the RCA jacks to transfer a song to my computer it is distorted no matter what I do. I can turn the mic setting down to zero and it still comes out distorted like I have the input turned up on high or something. I am hooking the input from the amp into the mic input (1/8" stereo phone jach)

Is there a setting in the Spider Jam that turns the output down? Changing the volume of the amp makes no difference.

Any suggestions? Thanks for your time.

Spider Jam or Spider III 75w with iPod for backing tracks?

I'm on the fence about whether to go for the Spider Jam or Spider III 75w model. There's about a $300 difference between the two with the main difference being the backing tracks that are built into the Spider Jam. But unless I'm missing something, it seems like you can accomplish the 99% of the same thing with the Spider III with playing the backing tracks from your iPod through the CD/MP3 input on the amp, correct? Yes, you'd be giving up the convenience of having it built into the amp, not have the ability to adjust the tempo or pitch, plus not be able to record loops. But is that worth $300 if you really just want to play over backing tracks?

Here are some specific questions to Spider Jam owners that may help me decide which way to go...

1. Am I correct to assume that the Spider Jam has all of the song/artist presets as the Spider III? I'm assuming it's the same, plus has the additional "jam" tracks.

2. Am I correct to assume that I can download MP3 backing tracks online, convert them to WAV files, put them onto an SD memory card, insert the card into the Spider Jam SD input and play them directly from the amp?

3. If my assumption in #2 is correct, would I be "saving" the songs to the Spider Jam unit and playing them directly from it's internal memory after loading...or would I just be playing them directly from the SD memory card itself?

4. Would I be able to adjust the tempo or pitch of the songs I play from the SD memory card with the Spider Jam or not?

Thanks in advance for your responses. I really do want the Spider Jam, but I'm trying to convince myself it's worth the extra money and confirm my assumptions are correct.

SpiderJam reboots while saving recording to SD-card

Made a nice recording and presed the save button and save recording to sd-card. The displays stops at 79% writing and then the amp automaticly reboots. Goodbey recording....

I am using firmware 2.09. Reinstalled the firmware but the problem is still there.

Same kind of problem with exporting stored recording from amp to sd-card. It start transfering and freeses at 100% The amp reboots. No files present at the sd-card....

The 1 GB sd-card is formatted with the amp.

Also bought a 2GB SD-card and the problem is a bit different now. JAM file will go to 100% and than the amp freeses. Fils are not readable with the PC. Saving a recording as WAV to the CARD gives a CARD wiriting error.

Firmware update is absolute correct. Cheched the bin file on the card with the checksumtool,

Hey everyone, I am still kind of new to the Spider Jam family.

I have a bunch of music I recorded and saved onto my Spider Jam amp but now am out of memory to record new stuff.

I was wondering if anyone knows how I can load these songs onto my computer. Is there some kind of special AUX plug in or memory card I can buy that will hook my amp up to my computer? Like a AUX to USB cord?

FBV Express problem

I have calibrated my FBV Express. The buttons do what they are supposed to, the wah works but the volume only reduces about half way and, strangely, rocking the pedal back to full heel position reduces the tremelo strength to zero with the guitar volume at half. I'd like to be able to do 'swell-ins' like I could with my Morley volume pedal, but I can't.

What's up?

Undo last overdub

Hello all!

I purchased my Spider Jam a month ago. I got an SD card and updated the Firmware to the last version 2.09

In the manual for this amp at page 5.3 it reads "Undoing the Last Recording Press the Undo button to erase your last overdub".
I try that and it doesn't remove the overdub like it is supposed too.

If I hold the undo button for about two seconds a menu comes up to delete all or one of the channels. But that does just that, erases the whole channel.

I'm not sure if the manual is incorrect or if I am not reading correctly or I am simply missing some step.

Can someone please help.

I have figured out how to work around the obvious mistakes that happen while trying to make a multitrack recording but it sure would be nice and would save some steps if the amp would work the way the manual says it does.

Trouble getting a decent distortion tone

I just got the Spider Jam, and although I love its features, I'm having some trouble dialing in a good distorted tone on this thing... The clean tones are good, but the Metal and Insane models just sound FIZZY and ugly all the way through. Especially the Insane model..( I dont know why this is at all included, and who would benefit from having so much dirt in their sound. I cant understand this is an amp that most ppl would use??()So far Ive just used the Crunch models, but they lack the punch for more metal sound..

I have a POD XT which I plug in the AUX input, and get much better sound out of those models than the ones included in the amp. But I dont wanna drag my POD along all the time when I have this potentially good amp sitting there... I only have the firmware 1.04 but they havent done anything tone-wise in future upgrades as I can see?

hints and tips are welcome!! I guess its useless begging Line6 to throw in some new amps on this thing?

(yes I've scrolled through all the presets as well..pretty useless in the metal department there)

Hi, recently ive bought a Spider jam for playin at home.through 6 strings it sounds ok, through my 7 string ibanez RG 7421( the worst guitar i have ,stock V pickups !!! ), its a big mess so i figured it must be the pickups...

what pickups do you recommend depending on a basswood bodied guitar?

At studio i use : a pod xt pro --->TC major 2 ---> dbx Eq ---> behringer tuner ---> spider 412 cab , and even with that it sounded terrible, so im sure its pickups .

( i mostly play dream theatre, outworld ,some death metal stuff etc.. & i know the pickups tone depends on taste.)

Recording loop pause at end

When I make a loop and push "stop" or "rec" to end the loop, I find that there is a pause (1or 2 sec.) when playing back the loop. This messes up the time between the beginning and ending of the loop. No matter how fast I try to get to the rec. button (or stop) there is always a pause. What am I doing wrong?

Spider Jam and FBV Express Cable Problem - Solved

Just got the FBV Express pedal to go with my Spider Jam. Had a problem where the amp reset after playing for several minutes to a recorded track using the wah pedal. I was using one of my own CAT5 cables because the LINE 6 cable is much longer than I need. Tried another of my CAT5 cables, same problem. Broke open the LINE 6 cable, and problem solved. Maybe this will help someone else. Any tips on buying a shorter cable that works?

A couple comments:

The FVB Express turns off wah when I switch tones. Maybe this is good for some people, but wish it didn't. Turning the wah back on is really tough if you aren't standing.

It would be nice if I could turn Jam mode on and off with the pedal so I can start the recording in Jam mode, and then switch tones during the recording with the pedal. No way I can see to do this unless I have someone at the amp changing the settings.

I was looking at the spider jam on the product page of line 6 website, it suggests 2 compatible pedals/foot controls for the spider jam, one being the FBV Express and the FBV Shortboard, clicking on those pedals to view the full product info also shows you amps further down on the info page detailing amps that the pedal is compatible with, there is no Spider Jam in this list, can someone confirm these are compatible, i think they are as i have seen people etc on youtube with the spider jam and the FBV Shortboard, this question in mind, i also want to ask will the FBV Floorboard/longboard also be compatible with the spider jam amp, a response would be very much appreciated,

Two part question:

1.) There doesnt appear to be a way to get the guitar sounds in my spider jam into my half stack. The recording out rca's I'm assuming are cab-emulated making them ready for recording. With no effects loop a pre out would have been nice, theres some great sounds in this thing but I'd prefer to hear them loud through a tube power section. If impossible with the spider jam, what other line 6 product has all these artist sounds, models of amps, etc in it???

2.) The tweeter in my spider jam is definitely blown and the amp is still under warranty. How do I get a replacement?

Spiderjam help

Hey , I haven't played my guitar in say, two weeks. so last night i turned on my amp and nothing happend ? the tuner / tempo button was solid, and the screen was solid yellow as well, so I turned it off, turned it on again and it turned on, the lights were fine , But the screen shows nothing and the Tone (settings) button is flashing, not a steady flash, its really off beat, My amp still works, but I was wondering if you might know why this is happening.

I'd greatly apretiate some help. & the amp only turns on every second time, it fallows the pattern of screen and tempo/tuner button being solid yellow and nothing happening to, the screen not working and the tone button flashing.

My SJ has developed a constant hiss. At any master level over 4 this is VERY noticeable. It decreases a bit if nothing is plugged in but is present at all times. I have 2.09 FW and have tried re-flashing but no benefit. The hiss is a "white noise" type. I've tried unplugging everything nearby and no change.

Any ideas/guidance?

Hi,

I will be relocating soon from the UK to the US. I saw from the forum and user guide that the amps are prepared for each location according to the voltage. Does Line 6 offer any options in case the voltage needs to be adapted? How difficult would it be to convert the amp for the US location? Since the voltage is going from higher in the UK to lower, I am concerned the amp would require more power to work.

Please could someone let me know my options. I would prefer not to have to sell the amp, as it would be a hassel and I am sure I would lose money, only to have to buy another one there. Does Line 6 offer any assistance with this?

Any advice would be welcomed.

background noise in WAV file in SD card while playing into the spiderJam

Hello.

I have composed some tracks with Band in a Box, recorded in WAV mono format within the program. Than I have trasfert the wav files into an SD card and put this one in the amp. I start playing the file to jam with my guitar on it but I hear a lot of background noise from the wav file. The same file listened into the PC don't have any background noise. The same difficulties come when I play the songs via a laptop PC connected with the amp.

Is there anyone who can help me to resolve the problem?

Hi,

I have had my Spider Jam for about 10 weeks now. I like many of the features and the Jam tracks, and drum tracks are awesome. The issue I am having is getting the tone i want out of it. I play and am a huge fan of classic rock and blues. I love the vintage sounds of a warm creamy tube amp, or the nitty gritty overdrive of one. I have not be able to get a good bluesy tone out of the amp. I have spent HOURS messing with tones and models and settings. The biggest problem I'd say is it seems to "Cut Off" notes. The best way I can explain it is like if you are talking to someone on a speaker phone. The noise canceling cuts off the very beginning and the tail end of it. Almost like it sounds synthesized. The amp realizes, "Hey, a string is plucked, time to kick in." and you miss the split second sound as the pick first hits the string. Then, as the sustain starts to fade, the amp decides it has faded enough and cuts off the rest of the note. This is very annoying and really kills the amp for me. Instead of "DDIIIiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnggggggg" i get "HIIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiNNNNNNG/...." My little Fender - Champion 600 seems to sound A LOT better in this respect, but, of course has none of the fancy features. I also seem to be having a volume problem. With some of the higher distortion effects the guitar volume is quite loud, but switch to a different amp model or clean sound and you can barely hear the guitar at all. I am aware of the fact the, at least in an analog case, distortion is created by gain, which translates to volume as well. So to fix that, you adjust the volume setting on the petal so your clean sound is the same as your distorted sound. You cant do that with the spider jam. This would be really bad during live performance, to stomp off your overdrive and have your guitar disappear! Even with the guitar volume turned up full, cant seem to compensate.

I have tried it with my 57' Strat RI, my Ovation Acoustic/Electric, my P-Bass, and my buddy's LP... same problem. Hi have heared countless people sing the praises of this amp, even some pros, but despite all the fancy features, HOURS AND HOURS, oh, and HOURS of reading the manual, the Web forums, and just fiddling around, it still sounds like crap. Can someone tell me if they have had this problem, or give any feedback on what I can try to fix this? Because right now I am really regretting buying this amp.. For the price (I got the amp and the short board) I could have gotten a nice fender tube of some kind and sat a "boom box" next to it to jam too.

Transferring recordings to SD card

Hi. When I record a song on the Spiderjam,I save it to internal. Having done that and re-checked that it's o.k.,I then transfer it to the SD card as WAV.

But,when I reload it back to the Spider the quality of sound is not as bright,or clear as the original recording. Why is this? I need to transfer it as WAV, or my computer doesn't recognise it,and I can't make a C.D.

Hi,

I upgraded to firmware version 2.09 and formatted the SD Card using the Spiderjam. I managed to create a small recording and saved it to the card. I took the SD Card and read it on my PC and the recording file that I created was present. I took a wav file and transferred it from my PC to the SD Card. When I tried to import the .wav file into the Spiderjam, I received an error similar to the following (I am reciting this from memory):

"No wav file found the the Line6 folder"

Two notes: first, there are no folders on the SD Card. Second, the wav file is in the same "folder" as the recording that I saved from the amp to the card.

What am I missing here? How do I get the Spiderjam to recognize the wav file? Thanks!

Hi, I just bought a Line 6 FBV Express pedal.

I've calibrated it, it all works fine. Only one problem.

When I'm switching between banks (Bank 1 is a heavy tone, Bank 2 is a clean tone), If I switch from 1 to 2, the volume is fine. But if I switch from 2 back to 1 again, the volume on Bank 1 is a lot louder than it was when I previously switched.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?
Or do I need to manually adjust the volume with the pedal once I switch back to Bank 1? If so, this would be very annoying on stage.

Je viens d'acquerir un Line 6 Spider Jam (75 Watts) et, inutile de vous dire que je m'eclate completement avec ce petit bijou. J'y ai inséré une carte SD de 4GB, et....je ne vois aucun menu ni pour la formater, ni pour y faire mes sauvegardes d'enregistrements. Je soupçonne mon firmware de ne pas être pas à jour : version actuelle de mon firmware : DSP 1.04 / MCU 1.04

Je ne sais pas s'il y a un "update" de disponible mais si c'est le cas, est que l'on pourrait m'indiquer où le telecharger et la procedure à suivre pour la mise à jour.

my spider jam is making strange noises. humming and cracking that comes and goes. starts off low then gets loud then just stops. the amp has very little use. only 8 months old. what could be wrong with it? I did switch the noise gate on and off, made no difference. help

I have the same exact problem with mine in fact it's happened with two of them. I first purchased a refurbished unit and that rebooted when trying to read, write or format a card. It also rebooted when trying to update the firmware. So I sent that one back and purchased a new model. The new model does the same thing and has the latest firmware on it already. I even went to the store and purchased two more SD cards of different brands to make sure that wasnt' the problem.

What's the solution Line 6?

Pasadena Rock drumloop is messed up - only 15 bars instead of 16?

I've noticed that the drum loop "Pasadena Rock" is messed up. It plays 8 bars of the first section, then in the second section with the ride cymbal there is only 7 bars before the loop repeats itself from the start again. Obviously this throws everything off and out of time when jamming with it.

Is it the same on other peoples Jam's? Or could it be just mine?

Hi,

I'm trying to make a loop using just a small segment of a WAV file that I've brought in from SD. I'm doing this by loading the WAV file from SD, playing it, hitting REC at the point I want to start recording from and playing my guitar, and then stopping when I've done my bit. The problem is that when I play this back the *whole* WAV file plays, not just the bit I was interested in (my guitar gets recorded OK but I don't need all the stuff before and after).

Can anyone help?

I have a Spider Jam amp and may be relocating to Singapore. Will it work with the 240V/50Hz electrical power that they use there? They use the same plug type as in the UK. Most music equipment these days can run on multiple voltages and hertz. I could not find a reference in the Spider Jam manual about this. Thanks!

Hello all,

I have a Spider Jam with current firmware( 2.09/1.05)

I have a plain SD card at 2 Gigs ( not an SDHC) and it is not locked

I have formatted the card on my IBM PC( XP Pro sp 3) using;

Fat 16

16 bit

44100mz

Mono

I have also tried formatting the card using the Spider Jam SD formatting utility

I copy my songs in WAV to the card and when I choose them on my Spider Jam two things happen:

1. I get an error message; file must be 16 bit 44000mz and Mono

2. The Spider Jam locks up and I have to do a restart

Any help would be appreciated

I recently updated the firmware on my spider jam from the orignal. Since doing the update the songs that came with the spder jam are gone. How can I get them back?

When you go to songs now the screen is blank. Using the dial, shows there is nothing to select anymore. The drums tracks are there, just no songs.

I knew the my recordings would get dumped, but the songs should have been replaced if the old version were no longer compatible with the new firmware.

A warning should be added about the songs being deleted on the update page and/or how to restore them.

PS. I don't feel recording them to wav via rca jacks to a computer and back, is an appropriate fix for the songs.

Hi I've the same problem like someone i've used 2 different sd 2gb and when i am trying to save something in the sd or format the spiderjam is resetting and then i lost from the memory the previous recording is your same case?

do you've any info about your distributor

this is a question to line6 people.

mine spider jam is still in warrant from the shop because is less than 15 days purchased -if i return to them they should asume to have this problem as a fabrication problem and they should be accept to repair by them isn'it.

PLease help,if you check your data base..you will see that I reported this problem before.I have been very tolerant but it is getting the best of me.This is continuous..if I plug my guitar in..sometimes you cannot even hear the guitar,on other occasions the guitar is louder than the hum...it is then followed by a loud popping sound and the guitar becomes crytal clean...no hum, the way I want my amp..quiet with good tone, then after a few seconds the hum returns the process repeats itself ? So today I finally got my amp, ordered it all the way from USA to Norway where I live.

And I packed it out and all, but I noticed the power cord was different, so I thought I'd go buy a European one because the one that came with the amp didn't fit.

So when I got home again, ready to start playing plugged in everything, and then I turned it on, I heard a "bang" and just loud noises, and I quickly turned it off again. I tried again to check if it still was like that, and yes it was. It smelled as something was a little burnt afterwards.

So now I don't know what to do, I've been all over Trondheim asking every shop I could find for help, but they couldn't help me.

But I guess I might know what the problem is though, the cable that came with the amp was something about "10A" and "125V".

The one the shop gave me was about "220V".

Can anyone help me?

Just bought a B stock spider jam that had been used for demo. The question I have

is when i first turn on the amp there is a low decimal fuzzy hiss followed by a low decimal

pop then the amp is completely silent and ready to play (and plays wonderfully)

so is the hiss a sign of issues to come and i should return for exchange during my 45 day

warranty or is this normal with this amp?

In the manual and on the Web Site, the FBV Shortboard is one of two recommended foot controllers. I looked on the web site and the recommended Shortboard is the FBV (not the MKII). The picture and link for the Shortboard however does show the MKII. I am assuming here that the MKII is the newest version on the FBV shortboard and this IS recommended for Spider Jam. It is not however on any compatibility charts.

My question: Is the FBV Shortboard MKII compatible with Spider Jam?

I just bought the foot controller (MKII) and wonder if it needs to go back.

Hello All!

I have seen somewhere on this site, a place to request a featrue be added to your Line6 product. Of course I can't seem to find it now. Maybe someone can direct me.

I want to request a feature be added that allows me to set wey points in a recording for start and ending an editing session.

Its not that I don't want to hear my creation over and over again but, when I am layering the end of the song or the middle for instance, it gets old and very frustrating to sit through the whole thing waiting for that one part or section only to make a mistake out of frustration ot distraction or whatever, just to have to clear that overdub and begine again waiting for that one little part.

Before anyone says it yes, patients is a virtue. True enough but a small addition would make a workd of difference here.

The reason I bought the S.J. is because my Tascam took a poop and I needed a better modeler then I have. I am really coming to like this amp. I find it hard to find any real quality sounds that aren't "over drive" but I am sure it is just a matter of time till I find some users setting I like and save them. I think taking my music from the S.J. and importing to the Tascam to for final mixing will be an awesome combo, just got to get it going again.

I have recorded my first "quality" song on this amp that I think is or quite near "radio quality".

Spider Jam/JM4 Looper Tone Sharing

There is no specific provision to saves tones to SD card in a Spider Jam or JM4 Looper however, tones are saved with .JAM files if you have RECORDINGS SET TONE switched to ON in the SETTINGS/TONE menu. If you make a short recording (5 seconds seems to be the shortest possible) and save that to SD card, the tone settings for that loop will be reinstated when reloaded and can be saved as a custom preset tone - and shared. A neat way to get round the shortcoming.

Ok,

i was tuning my guitar using the built-in tuner on the spider jam amp, and when tuning down from G (not drop-g, just the G string, down to F so i could be in drop C)

and noticed that the desending sequence of notes went like this;

G > Fb > F > E e.t.c.

Now apart from the obv fact that there is no such thing as a Fb, i wanted to know why it said 'b' instead of '#' like i'd have thought it should be.

Anyone else got the same thing? I'm on firmware v1.04 i think. does it go away if i patch?

Obviously it's not really a MAJOR problem, nor does it stop me tuning really. But just wondered if it's a shared thing, or mine is just wierd.

I have just noticed that the Illegal drumloop on the Spider Jam is messed up like the Pasadena Rock one.

In this case there is a missing "beat" at the end of the loop which throws everything out of time again.

I have had a Spider Jam for about three weeks. Like another person who posted, the Chorus/Flanger will automatically turn on in the clean setting. And now as soon as I try to adjust the channel volume to match my guitar level to an auxilliary recording level, it automatically lowers my guitar volume so I can't hear the guitar. Only by turning the channel volume almost all the way up can I actually hear the guitar. But as soon as I switch to a different amp model the sound goes back up; at least until I touch the channel volume again. Has anyone heard of this problem? Will installing the latest firmware help? Or do I need to take it back to the dealer and hope since it's less than thirty days I can just get a new one?

1.) I'd like to have the possibility to use A and B on FBV Express for controlling the looper (A-Start, Rec/Overdubb, Stop Overdubb, Rec/Overdubb,... / A double click- Stop / B-Undo / B pressed down - Redo (just an example, a bit like Boss RC-20)) and C and D to switch between Tones (up and down). This would be one interesting possibility. Even better could be a free programmable set of functions for A-D, pressed down A-D, A+B, C+D and the Volume/Wah Switch. I could imagine a wide range of possibilities. One could also chose saved songs with the FBV. Maybe a little software to arrange functions on PC an transfer this set via SD to the Spider Jam!? A situation dependent functionality of the foot switches like in the Boss loopers is very convenient too.

2.) It would be convenient if you could check the settings of a tone in the display without having to turn one of the knobs and risk a change in the setting. F.E. Treble is set low, but the knob stands high. You turn the knob a bit and the settings jumps to the higher range before you can realize just how low is was set before.

3.) It also could be simpler to name new records if one could insert space and delete letters and if the set of possible signs could be chosen circular with the knob (after z it should start all over again).

SD Card question why duplicates with - sign ?

Hi:

I loaded some riffs (18) onto the SD card from my MAC iTunes.

They loaded fine and play.

However, there are duplicate files of the songs with a - (minus) sign in front of them making for a total of 36 listings.

These listings do not appear on the LIne6 listings from the computer with the card reader.

I tried erasing the card and reformatted it, I reloaded the songs onto the SD card but they still appear on the card.

When I highlight them it says wrong file must be .wav format.

The line reads ex: - Peggy Sue.wav

Again the 18 play, is this normal and some type of info line or is iTunes have some embedded info that would not appear on the card reader ?

I understand that the Spider III Jam has had some evolution since it came out, and features have changed/been added during production.

E.g., tempo/pitch on backing tracks were not separately adjustable, but now are? SD card had limited functionality, but now can be used to transfer new tracks and recordings to/from a computer?

Can you tell me where in the evolution the serial number above might be? A friend wants to sell me his amp, but I am not sure.

I have bought the spider jam this morning. I started to play a bit and then after few minutes, the red button "Clip" is switched on and the button "Hold for tuner" as well. And then it was written "corrupted sdram" even if i didn't put my sd card inside !!!! The version of this spider jam is "2.0". I try to touch every button but nothing is working. Players, I may be an idiot, but I need some help. There is a section in my Spider Jam Menus that let me set up my amp to sound like a particullar song. For the example, I set my amp to sound like the song Breaking The Law by Judist Preist. This all works fine. This is where I go crazy!!!! I could have swore that I got my Spider Jam Amp to play the song ( or at least it's version). Did I imagine this? I can not seem to get back to that. I clear see where all these songs can used to setup sounds, but can it play them. I am having no trouble playing the drums, and rythm songs. Please help, as I think I have lost my mind...

mp3 jack only playing one channel

Hey, I've had the spider jam for a while, and I really like it. However, it always sounded a little empty when I had my iPod or computer connected and was playing songs throught the mp3 jack. I found out just recently that it has only been playing music from the right channel of the 3.5mm stereo jack. I even tried to use a stereo to mono plug converter, but it still won't play the right side. I'm not sure if this is normal or not. My friend has a line 6 bass amp, and when we use his mp3 jack the music sounds fine, but it just sounds empty when I play it through my spider jam. If you could help me I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Hey guys I was able to successfully install the firmware update (v2.09) for my spider jam per the exact instructions from the website, but now the amp is possessed. While playing on any setting for more than 20 seconds, the LCD begins flashing back and forth between the “Guitar Tone” display and the “Amp Models” display. When this happens the sound level from my guitar drops significantly and is barely audible, I have to stop and switch it back to my normal setting just to watch it happen all over again.

2^nd If I record anything and want to “save to internal” This flashing begins about 10 seconds into me naming the recording which resets anything I’ve named back to the default “Rec #01”.

3^rd If I hold the button to tune the guitar, I can get through about 2 strings before the flashing begins and kicks the tuner off which puts me back to the “Guitar Tone” screen, just to do it all over again.

This is very annoying as I can’t even use the amp for an entire 30 seconds without malfunction. I’ve actually got a video camera set up for documentary purposes so that when it unplugs itself and begins levitating across the room I’ll be famous for a having the first possessed amplifier in production….could it be that one or a few of the software designers was a Wiccan and drank to much of the witches brew while they were writing the code for update…?...J

I am trying to obtain info on how to go about using a 2GB SD Card for my new spider jam 75 watt amp.However when I go to line6.com/manuals to get info it is not on the option chart.I have the pilots guide book that came with the amp,but it tells me to go the fore said site which does not seem to be helpful.Can anyone help thanks

Ok. My spider jam came with the 2.9 firmware. GREAT! As far as my sd card problem, I think I might give up. I have formatted and re-formatted this sd card about 20 times to no avail. Since I do not need thousands apon thousands of dollars worth of recording equipment, I was wondering if the Guitar Port and the Riffworks software would be a good investment, possibly offering a bit more diversity with drum tracks and such?

I just plugged in the spider jam amp and there is virtually no sound coming out of the amp. If i put the master volume up to its highest levels, i am able to hear minor muffle sound come out of the amp, but otherwise nothing.

I have bought a Spider Jam recently and I want to use a memory flash card.

I have put it in the back of the Spider Jam and according to the Spider Jam Advance Guide

after the SAVE button you can read the FIRMWARE version and FORMAT the card.

The only thing I can do is Save it to the card, Erase it or Erase all on the card.

What do I have to do?

Expanding sounds for Line6 Combos

I have the guitarcombo Line6 SpiderJam and the basscombo Line6 LowDown 150. I would like to expand these two combos with extra cabinets to get, if possible, moore and ritcher tone/sound. I am using these gear only for private at home, but anyway....

The guitars I am using is:

Fender Stratocaster, Fender Telecaster, Gibson LP (3 different models), Gibson ES 335, Gibson ES 175, Jay Turser semi acoustic and an Ibanez EW20 acoustic.

The basses are:

Fender Precision Bass HighWay 1, Fender Jazz Bass Marcus Miller Signature IV, Spirit By Steinberger V and an Ibanez EWB 20 IVacoustic bassguitar.

Witch Line6 cabs do you recommand "to expand the sounds" from my combos?

spider jam amp quit working

Hello,

I was playing my spiderjam earlier today, and it was playing fine. When I returned to play this eve, I turned it on and got "nothing" no amp noise, no guitar noise nada, zip zilch. If I play a song or drum loop it plays fine and the volumne works, but nothing from my guitar. I have tried pretty much everything I can think of, I know it's not the guitar or my cables, and no one changed any settings on the amp. Any suggestions, other than to plug in my old Marshall and get rid of this thing? (not the first problem I have had) Thanks for any help possible.

Amp suddenly not working properly

Okay so i went to use my amp today and its suddenly just turned to s**t, all the tones sound crappy, like they all gone quiet and muddy, and i have to turn the volume up really high just to hear anything at all.

Iv tested the cables and guitars, so its not them. Ive not done anything to the amp, like moving it or fiddled with settings, its just gone like this by itself overnight.

Its only 13 months old and never left the room since i first bought it. Ive done a factory reset numerous times and its made no difference.

Im baffled.

Anyone have any ideas?
