LINE 6 DM4 Battery Power not working

i own 2 of these pedals and when i put in batteries the pedal does not work. I checked the battery connectors and they receive power and the power goes into the board but for some reason the pedal doesnt work

This is the first time i tried using pedals for this baby

Bought a Line 6 DL4 unit yeaterday but I can't get it to record as per the manual, e.g. select loop smapler, press first button , light comes on. But on mine following this nothing happens not even a light. Any help would be useful

Hi Line 6 i'm using Line 6 mm4 fm4 and dl4 for years

but some days before faced with problem - after switching during a mistake 12 vac to a my mm4 pedal it stopped work at all

i live in Belarus 220004 and there is no any service center

may be it is a well known issue and is simple repaired - there is few great technicians here so they can check it but before brining it to them i want to ask you about it

I may be missing something completely elementary, btu i've run through several different configurations, and have been completely unable to get my DL4 to even power up at a club.

At home & the rehearsal space, i plug in the power supply and input/output cables, and everythign is fine. This has been done in multiple locations, multiple wall outlets, different cables, and in different positions in my pedal array. however i have tried to gig with this pedal twice, and have been unable to get it to even power up. have tried multiple configurations, even plugging the pedal directly into an outlet rather than a powerstrip etc... it won't even light up. i can place it at the end of my effects chain and it allows signal through, but will not function as a pedaal.

I've been through numerous configurations, and have had several sound guys, both house and touring, fiddle around and come up with nothing.

any ideas?

Volume drop on just a preset button of my DL-4

Hi all

I'm just enjoying my new DL-4.

However, I found that any delay that I save on preset A will noticeably drop my volume when engaged.

That won't happen even if the exact same configuration is saved on presets B or C. The volume drop is specially noticeable if distortion is on.

I'm using alternate bypass, and a original Line 6 power adapter.

Any clues on what may be wrong?

Increased Verbzilla noise with trails switch enabled?

Hi guys,

Just got my brand new VERBZILLA today and want to use the trails feature, but when I switch it on, there is noticable static/hum while the effect is OFF. I just want to know if this normal? I'm guessing with the trails feature enabled, the FET bypass is disabled?

My set up is:

Les Paul Standard w/ Burstbucker Pros

Boss TU-2

Ibanez TS9

VERBZILLA

into the front of:

JCM 800 2203

I tested it like this:

1) Effect is off, trails is OFF. some amp hum is audible from speaker

2) Effect is off, trails is turned ON, increased hum from speaker is audible

All pedals are powered by PEDAL POWER 2. Anyone else have this problem? Please note that I don't have an effects loop on my amp.

I checked the line 6 power supply faq that there's an alternative to a [9VAC 1200mA minimum] power supply.

it said

Note: Line 6 modelling effects have reversed polarity. Use the right cable."

help? what does it really run in? I really should be believing the line 6 site, but i asked the line 6 dealers here and they said that i can't use a 12vdc adapter. can i please have a confirmation that it really CAN run on 12vdc 500mA? I'm using a DL4 and an MM4.

Plus, does it have to be regulated?

and if ever its allowed, i was wondering if i could use a 1000mA 12vdc adapter to chain a dl4 and an mm4.

Suddenly dead dm4

My dm4 is suddenly stone dead. No power from either ac adapter or batteries. I took the circuit board out and everything looks fine, so it's beyond my ability to figure out.

I'm in Toronto, and I don't know if there is any qualified repair shop around here.

Any ideas what it might cost to diagnose and repair?

Hey. I bought a Line 6 DL4 with the intent of doing something similar to this with it.

I used a Quarter Inch to 1/8th inch converter so I could hook up head phones to the Mono Left Output. All I hear is on the left side (this makes sense) and it is very quiet even with Mix capped out.I hooked it up to my surround sound and it is louder but still very quiet in relativity to how loud my stereo gets.

So I guess I have two questions.Is there anyway to increase the volume... and is there any cable that I can use that is Dual Quarter Inch Males to Mono Quarter Inch Female in the hopes that I can connect the two Left and Right Outputs into one mono cord and hook it up to headphones so I get sound in both ears?

Or is there any other way I should do this?

DL4 delay pedal not turning on at all

Hi I have just purchased this DL$ delay pedal 2 weeks ago and it was working fine and then i went to plug into the pedal today and nothing. I assumed the batteries were dead so i put brand new batteries in the DL4 and still nothing. I Have got my guitar lead pluged into the mono/L input and my amplifier plugged into the Mono/L output as i did last week but now nothing, no lights show up no delay effects or anything? Has anyone experienced the same problem>?

I have a DL4 that powers up with tap LED flashing and all but no sound, wet or dry. It passes a signal in bypass. I've check out the jacks, and even swapped relays. And of course, I did the re-boot too. Ideas?

Hi!

I have noticed a BIG problem with my Delay Modeler unit. I'm not able to save any multi-head presets!

I've owned a DL 4 earlier, and I don't remember it having this problem. I peeked inside, and noticed the EPROM version to be v1.6. Could it be possible for me to upgrade the EPROM-chip to a newer version? Could it be possible for you to send me a new chip? I think I could manage the replacement myself, or at least a qualified repairman should be able to do it. This would save me so much time, since I'm a professional musician, and I really couldn't wait to much for a new pedal.

How do I get the phase sound to go away on my DL4?

I need Edge-like sounds for the couple of U2 songs that I'm playing in my cover band, and I find them, but then I step on B Play/Stop to exit a delay sound, and when I step on that same button again, a phase shift sound comes back instead, a kind of left to right wash. I can't figure out how to just set the DL4 so that I can have have the echo and delay sounds without that phasey thing.

M9 Problem

I registered my new Line 6 M9 on line.

I downloaded the Line 6 Monkey (version 1.31)

I tried to upload the M9 update (2.01) - and I made sure the MIDI drivers were working on my interface and that the MIDI cables were plugged in correctly.

I logged into my account on Line 6 Monkey and attempted to upload the M9 update.

However, it comes up with a dialogue box that I have not registered my M9?? This of course means that I cannot have the M9 update.

I repeated the steps carefully only to arrive at the same conclusion.

Please find attached a screen shot of the failure dialogue box

WHAT'S GOING ON LINE 6? Please can you help me or point me in the right direction.

DL4 Power Up Issue

I'm trying to fix a DL4 for a friend of mine. When powered up, the unit is completely non functional and does not respont to any of the foot switches. I tried the factory reboot procedure multiple times (i.e. hold the outer two switches and apply power) with no luck.

I removed the PCB from the housing and applied power to the unit with a plug inserted into the mono input. All voltages on the board appear as expected (i.e. I am seeing appropriate values 1.8V, 3.3V and 5V power domains). I probed the MCLK, LRCLK, SCLK, ADC and DAC nodes (labeled on the board) with an OScope and the MCLK is running at the expected 11.98MHz. LRCLK, SCLK, ADC and DAC are not toggling at all (LRCLK, SCLK, ADC and DAC seem like they should be active all the time if they are operating as an I2S serial audio interface).

It appears that the Phillips microcontroller is not booting, hence no switching functionality or booting of the Motorolla processor. Unfortunately I have no way to tell if the issue is the EEPROM or the Phillips microcontroller. I guess the Motorolla processor could be a problem as well, but is appears that the microcontroller must function for any of the basic capability of the board to work.

Has anyone ever hear of this issue? I've seen a post of a customer who had to replace the microntroller and was able to fix the unit (that appeared to be a supply short inside the part, which doesn't appear to be the case here). This never left my friends house and was kindly used, so this feels like a reliability failure of one of the components. I checked all four switches based on feedback to be sure and they're all good.

Are replacement EEPROMs and Microcontrollers available? Any other ideas?

The unit has "DL4 v1.2" for the EEPROM and Rev:4A PCB.

I loved this pedal when I first bought it but these past few months it has ocasionally cut my volume in half. I just shook it off at first and thought I could deal with it but now it does it everytime I engage the pedal. It is nothing but a headache now. Last night I was performing live and I engaged the pedal only to get about 10 percent volume right in the middle of a solo. It has progressively gotten worse and worse and now it barely works at all...I'm very disapointed with Line 6 on this one because I have heard of this happening to a lot more people than just me. I would like to know how I can get Line 6 to repair this pedal for me. I'm no where near a service center and I cant find a phone # or e-mail to contact anyone. Any help is much appreciated!

Is the 147 model/patch in the POD XT LIVE the same as the 147 model/patch that is my Roto-Machine? If so, I really don't need both. I know this sounds academic, but I'd really like to hear the answer from someone with definitive knowledge. Hi, I just recently purchased a verbzilla pedal off of ebay, and just received it today. Unfortunately, when I tried playing through it, it kept making this popping noise....like a metronome or something, just going pop......pop.....pop.....pop. And it does this when it is not even turned on. When I try to turn it on, it doesnt do anything, it just keeps making the popping noise. And when I depres the pedal all way down to the point of it clicking, the LED flashes a green light and red light for a second. When the light flashes, the noises stops. The lights only turn on for a second though, and then it just goes back to popping. I've tried using a battery and a power supply, and its the same story. Does anybody know whats wrong???

Ma DL4 ne fonctionne plus. L'adaptateur secteur que j'utilise fonctionne toujours bien et j'utilise cette pedale depuis plus de 2 ans.

En fait je l'ai laissé allumée pendant 1 semaine non-stop (je ne vois que ça pour que du jour au lendemain elle ne fonctionne plus).

Y a t-il un fusible a changer éventuellement à l'intérieur?

I had a recent noise issue with my rig and ran a lot of diagnoistics trying to figure things out. I eventually uncovered the problem as my power supply.

During my diagnostics, I did a lot of plugging in and out and powering on and off. I was testing everything through my Marshall, which has an effects loop. Today, I wanted to play through my Fender Twin (which I occasionally do), so I plugged all the effects into the front (no loop). All of the pedals that were in my Marshall's effect loop are now making a hiss, engaged or disengaged, including an Echo Park. I tested each individually, with recommended power supplies, and they are ALL making this hiss. The pedals that were NOT in the FX loop of the Marshall don't do this. To answer some obvious questions: YES, they were silent in my Marshall FX loop. NO, they were not doing this through the front of my Twin before.

I even went so far as to test all of the pedals individually through a friends Fender Deville. They all still made noise. I even pulled his DL4 off his effects board and tested it in the same way, just to see if it was my guitar, cords or power. No noise.....it is my effects loop pedals for sure.

I'm worried that they may have been damaged in some way while i was running my diagnostics. Can pedals be damaged in this way, or by a bad power supply? Would this hiss be indicative of that?

I followed the following calibration procedure for our newly purchased FBV Express MKII device with the Spyder IV 75 amp and with a Windows XP based computer:

FBV Express MkII Calibration Steps
• Start with your FBV device not connected to any USB port or Line 6 device (and, therefore,
powered “off”).
FBV MkII Advanced User Guide: Getting Started

• Press and hold down the “D” labeled footswitch while you “power on” your FBV (by connecting
to your computer’s USB port, or Line 6 device with which you plan on using your FBV). Upon
release of the D footswitch, the FBV Tuner’s numerical display will read “1”.
• Press the on-board pedal forward fully and hold down pedal’s Toe Switch until the Tuner display
changes to “2”. This should occur instantly.
• While holding the pedal in the “heel” (minimum) position, press & release the D footswitch.
The Tuner display will change to “3”.
• Move the pedal to the toe (maximum) position, without clicking the Toe Switch. Allow the
pedal to rest in the toe position (maximum) and press & release the D button. The 7 LEDs above
the Tuner’s numerical display will light.
• Move the pedal and verify that the LEDs above the Tuner’s numerical display sequentially turn
off as the pedal moves to the minimum position, and all sequentially light up when the pedal is
moved to the maximum position.
• If your 7 LEDs do not light up as described, then try repeating these calibration steps. If your
LEDs light up correctly, then calibration was successful - power off your FBV and power it back
on and you are ready to go!

This procedure does not even work for step 1. The display show a lower case "d" instead of the number "1". Simply it does not work at all and your online forums indicate that this is a general problem. Please provide the proper procedure to fix this problem or I will have to return the item to "Pianos N Stuff". I purchased this item on September 19, 2009 (Yesterday), it was a floor model because that is all they had in stock. It was inspected by 2503 2701. Its serial number is .

I have registered both the amp and the foot controller and upgraded both to the latest bios as shown in the manual.

I've been using my DL4 for about a year now, and i'm experiencing really bad hum. i thought it was a bad cable, so i replaced it, but with no improvements. Even if it is not engaged, there is still a hum. When i turn the trails off however, it goes away, but when i engage it, it comes back. I've tried looking for line 6 support in my area, but there's none. I can't afford to replace it or even get it repaired. Is there any other way?

My question is: do you mean regulated 12V DC? I have a 12V DC power supply which is actually reading 17V into a multimeter without load. Is this safe to plug into the DM-4?

I love the DM-4 BTW and considering the M13 is the cost of 2 x 4 button stomp boxes perhaps I should have bought that in the first place because I'm already thinking about the MM-4

DL-4 Malfunction

I have owned my dl4 for almost a year now. It has worked fine until yesterday, it started malfunctioning under normal use. I was using the looper mode, and I switched the mode from normal to reverse. Suddenly, the buttons stopped responding to inputs. I did a reset (holding A+D while plugging in the input cable), which did not correct the problem. Here is what happens to the pedal now:

1. In looper mode: The "D" light will be illuminated by ONLY the A B or C switches. These other switches can also engage the double speed function. For example I can press A then B to turn the "D" on/off. D does nothing by itself.

2. In other delay modes: The A light blinks on once, then the B light blinks on twice. This repeats indefinitely.

If anyone has ever encountered this, I'd love to hear solutions. What I'd really like is to not have to pay a bundle to fix this. I wish things were more reliable!

Tonecore Echo Park power supply issue

I took the power supply for the EchoPark and daisy chained it to with a jumper to the power input of a Maxon OD9. Its rated 2000 mA so I thought it can be used to power multiple effects pedals just like the ones they sell for that. The power supply shows Model: SY-09200A and Part No: 11-32-000. Is that th DC-1?

Well the Maxon smoked and smells burnt. It doesn't work now. The Echo Park just sounds bad now. What went wrong?

How do I get the Echo park fixed? A shop that is listed as a service center said I should mail it in to Line 6. Too much small circuitry and surface mount components. Does Line 6 take in repair jobs?

Actuator Switch Kit/ DL4

Hello!

I just ordered the actuator switch kit. I was wondering though. On my DL4, there are these small white plastic "things" inside the spring on the switches. I was wondering if this small "white thing" is included in the actuator switch kit package. Cause I seem to be lacking one of these in my springs.

PS. The red and black wire thats connected from the battery-part. What kind of a wires are they? I would like to get a new one but I dont want to ruin my unit in case I get a wrong type of wire. It'd be perfect if I could get one of those at a normal electric-shop, but before that I would like to be sure.

I've had my DL4 for about 4 years now, and always used the Line 6 power adapter with it. A few weeks ago, I started playing with the DL4 on and about 15 seconds after I began, the DL4 began emitting so much static and noise that I could barely hear the guitar. I thought perhaps the power adapter was bad, so I switched it out for an identical one I had been using on a POD...same problem occured. The problem persisted when using the unit as a looper or as a delay modeler. I tried running it off of fresh C batteries the other day to no avail.

I have done numerous Google searches and searched the Support section here, but I can't find a thread that covers this. I use the DL4 more than anything in my lineup and cannot afford to replace it at the moment. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have basic soldering skills if I need to open her up.

I just got the DL4 and would like to add it to an old skb pedal board. None of the power adaptors I have seem to fit. Is there a specific chord I can find to accomplish this? I've seen the Dl4 in many pedal board set ups so I'm hoping this can be found in a retail location.

DL4 Loop function not working

I need help with my DL4 loop function, which recently stopped working. When I move the left dial to the 6 o'clock position an almost steady feedback like tone is sent to the amp. I tried resetting the unit (by pressing the first and fourth footswitches per instructions. It almost sounds like a high freq. repeat signal is "stuck" in the system. Hi one of my stompswitches on my fm4 fell of. I want to put it back but I need to open the machine in order to do that. I cant remove the circuit board inside. I think I need to remove the knobs on the top of the device in order to remove the circuit board. They are attatched well hard, when I try to remove them, it feels like I will break the unit. FM4 wont power up

I just bought a used Line 6 FM4 on ebay. The seller claims he powered it up right before shipping it and it worked fine. He also said he only used it 3-4 times ever, and it looks like ti. Anyways, I cant get the thing to power up either with batteries, or the power supply. I know the power supplys are good, because I used them on my DL4 fine. It tried unplugging and replugging the input and output cables as well. Is there any other tricks that you know of, or am I going to have to take this in?

My MM4 has an incredibly annoying volume drop that if I can't fix will mean I'll have to get rid of the thing as I'm fed up of all my modulation being so quiet compared to everything else!

I know I can fix it by changing a couple of resistors on the PCB, my only problem is I can't seem to remove the PCB. I've unscrewed the back cover, then the 4 or 5 screws holding the PCB on and I've taken all the nuts of the jack sockets. But the PCB seems pretty jammed in there! Is there something I'm missing? Do I need to remove the control knobs as well? If so, how do I do that. I've already tried taking the nuts of the footswitches and that doesn't seem to do much.

Any help would be appreciated.

Roto machine won't change speed

I have the Roto-Machine FX pedal and having a problem getting it to change the speed using the fast/slow knobs. I am able to change speeds with the tap tempo footswitch, but when I twist the fast/slow knobs; there isn't any change. The same goes for the ramp switch - toggling through the speed on that switch; doesn't change the speed. Please respond with any advice you might have.

I thought the DL4 had a noise gate but it's the DM4. I accidentaly found a weird thing when i did the steps for activating the noise gate. I held down a footswitch and inserted the input cable. Then the tap tempo footswitch lit up, and it works as a looper sort of, tap tempo doesn't flash. when i hit A B or C two of the other buttons light up simultaneously. Is there something i don't know?

First, I set it to the reverse setting. I start playing and it sounds like it should. Then I turn the effect off and then back on. All of a sudden, it's on some sort of delay. I'm pretty new to the DL4 so I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or if it's broken. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, when I turn the mix knob all the way to 10, I get about a second of delay between playing my guitar and hearing it on the amp and when it does play through the amp, it's a lot louder than average. Is this normal?

space chorus - ground loop buzz problem

I am using a line6 space chorus in conjunction with a Boss TU-2, dunlop dimebag wah all powered by Dunlop's DC brick. Unfortunately there is a horrible ground loop buzz whenever I use this set up. I managed to narrow it down to space chorus being the problem (I tried different locations - in different countries!, different sockets, cables only using the space chorus) and still the buzz remains. As soon as I unplug the space chorus from the DC brick the buzz disappears.

Anyway ideas how to rectify the situation? I'd like to use this chorus pedal in that set up, perhaps powering it with a battery might alleviate the problem. Your help in this matter is much appreciated.

I currenlty use a DL4 and a PODxtLive. Is there a proper order for the two to be connected. I have been going out of the PODxt into the DL4. One weekend the DL4 flaked out on me several times. The next weekend when I only used the DL4 with acoustic (no PODxt) it did not flake out. That got me wondering if there are line/level issues going from the PODxt to the DL4. Could anyone answer this question for me? Is there a proper order for using outboard pedals with the PODxt Live?

In honor of St. Patrick's Day, I thought I would try to re-learn some U2 songs with the DL4. While in the middle of playing, I was using the digital delay with mod (my second programmed footswitch) and I was going to try using the tube echo (my first programmed footswitch). However, when I tried pushing on the first switch, nothing happened. I tried again and the first button flashed once and the second button flashed three times. Despite unplugging and replugging the cords, unplugging and replugging the px-2 power supply, and trying different electrical outlets in my house (in thoughts that it might be an electrical issue), the DL4 keeps acting up, blinking the first switch once and the second switch three times. It did this once before, but the problem resolve itself shortly thereafter. This time, however, the problem doesn't seem to be as fortunate. What is wrong?

Any help would be appreciated.

My DL 4 won't recall my multi-head presets. Though, if I have the expression pedal hooked up, it kind of snaps out of it, and 'remembers' what I had stored. The pedal is bought used, and is an old version, v1.6. Is there a way of updating the software somewhere? Could this take care of the problem?

DL4 Freezing Randomly - Reset Not Fixing Issue

I'm having the same problem that was discussed here http://line6.com/community/message/38372#38372 My unit will intermittently freeze and the only thing that will bring back my presets (or even put the delay in bypass) is to unplug the unit. I'm play professionally every weekend for 3 hours a night. I cannot keep reaching down to my pedalboard to unplug this thing in hopes it turns back on correctly each time this occurs. A factory reset is NOT fixing the problem.

Please provide DETAILED feedback on the issue as I am apparently not the only one with this problem. If you tell me to just "go get it fixed" I will discontinue use and switch to a different brand.

DL4 oddity

I've been having an issue with my DL4(s). I have known good cables and power supply(s).

It will be functioning normally, then it will start behaving such that: if I am on preset C and I tap A it turns C off, but does not switch over to A. If I then tap C again, nothing happens. If I tap A, C turns on, but I get no sound. Same for B. If I tap the temp button C will blink and then turn off.

This happened intermittentally (most of the time powering it off and on would be enough to reset it. sometimes it took a couple tries) until one day the DL4 died. It does nothing. I had had the board replaced by an authorized repair shop in the past, and was prepared to do the same again, except there's only one nearyby and the unit for waiting was given in months.

I bought a new one. Not a cheap thing for me! It did the same damn thing the second day I had it. Unplugged it, switched power supplies, tried batteries only, etc to no avail. Then it just popped back into normal operation and was fine for a week (use it 3/4 nights per week) and then did the exact same thing today. I've spent hours now trying to recreate my presets, so the factory reset (esp if this is going to keep happening!) is not a workable solution.

Is this a common or even understandable issue?

Ok, can you answer this question once and for all? I have done a lot of research and am getting conflicting reports.

Please don't refer me to the tonecore FAQs, cause I've already read them, and they seem to be outdated (they only list three tonecore pedals as being stereo).

I know that the echo park sums the inputs to mono on multitap, ping pong, and reverse modes. Other than this, is there any summing going on in any of the other stereo tonecore units, or are they all true stereo (input and output)?

I have a rotomachine -> verbzilla -> echo park -> echo park. I want to run this whole signal chain and preserve the stereo imaging throughout all of it (assuming I don't use the multitap, ping pong, and reverse settings on the echo park). If I have this setup and I engage the rotomachine, or the verbzilla, am I going to get a true stereo image coming out of my two amps?

I tested this out last night - first I just plugged into my verbzilla and sent the stereo outputs to my amps. Beautiful stereo image. Then I took the stereo outputs and plugged them into my echo park (set on the normal 8ths setting), and sent my echo park's outputs to my amps. It seemed like the reverb lost its "3D" stereo image. Was I just making this up, or was the reverb summed to mono?

I've been using my DL-4 for about two years now, and recently I've come across an issue with the pedal freezing. I use an SKB powered pedalboard, the PS-45 I believe, and I plug the PX2 power supply for my DL4 into the three AC outlets provided on the pedal. Recently my pedal has been having a problem where it will freeze on the A, B, or C banks, and the tap tempo light will disappear. I'd really not like to get a new DL-4, and I'm thinking it is just a power supply issue. I've also tried plugging the PX2 into a different outlet, and it will work slightly longer before giving me the same freezing issue as before. Is this something that can be rectified with a new power supply? I'm on tour and am looking for a fix that doesn't require a new DL-4, and I can't send it to be warranty'd since it's been more than twelve months. HELP.

repairing loose and sticky switches

Hello,

I own three dl4 pedals and all of them are now out of commission. The newest one has had beer spilled on it at a couple of gigs, and it seems to have gradually lost electrical function. I tried using batteries to see if the ac input is damaged, but the batteries don't work either. I think as far as home repair goes, I'm at a loss.

My two other dl4's have sticking switches, and on one of them, a switch has come loose and popped out.

When I open up the pedal, loosen and remove all of the screws and washers around the inputs as well as remove the circuit board screws inside, I am still unable to pull out the circuit board to get at the other side of the switch panel. If I could get at the other side of the circuit board, I could clean, lubricate and reassemble the switches. It feels like the circuit board is either glued or soldered down.

What can I do?

I had some ideas about the Stompbox Modelers and I was curious what other line 6 fans thought of them and see what line 6 thought of them.

I have a DM4, in fact I have many. I think they are amazing and I wouldn't settle for any other pedal for distortions. Yet having many DM4s and swapping them in my pedal board depending on the gig (and even during the middle of shows) is really annoying, specially since I have industrially strong velcro. Similar to the M9 & M13 how about being able to put banks in the 4 other stomp boxes. 4 sounds at your feet, hold down pedals 1+2 perhaps, and 4 new sounds at your feet, hold down 3+4 and your back to the old sounds. Be brilliant for people (like me) who play guitar in one band and bass guitar in the other and only want one pedal board. Would anyone else think this would be a good idea? Or just me.

I know people will say just get an M9 or an M13 (and I am considering it, see my other posts ) but the problem with them is that at the moment it's only 2 or 3 pedals per effect, plus if all you want is the distortion (or modulation, or delay or whatever) then it's a bit overkill. 4 banks of 4 in each pedal surly wouldn't be too much to ask would it, and just give you so much more with one pedal. Wouldn't even need to have a display, just two buttons mean 'up', two buttons mean 'down' and have some LEDs on the top just to show which bank your on.

Other idea (yes this is a long post) is combining the idea above with an M9. Say you have a DM4 (with banks ) for your distortions, then an M9 for your modulation and delays (which is probably what I am going to do). Does anyone else think it would be a good idea to have MIDI capabilities from the DM4 to control another set of effects in the M9/M13. I'll give an example, I never really adjust reverbs. In the studio I have a rule of 'the more distortion the less reverb, clean lots of reverb, full distortion no reverb' but live this is too tricky to achieve. So you've got the three effects on the M9 set to Filter, Modulation and Delay, then as you change the DM4, the reverb on the M9 changes. Anyone else think that's a good idea. Anyone who then uses external MIDI with the M9 might then have a problem, maybe MIDI in on the DM4 and soft thru.

Anyway, enough of that. Just thought I'd throw those ideas out there. Thoughts??? Anyone else like??

I have a couple of the delay modeler pedals that I absolutely love and have come dependant on for live performance. Lately and more increasingly I have noticed that the footswitches themselves don't click on and off smoothly. I'll hit the switch to start or stop the loop or to change the tempo and it won't work and I'll have to stomp on it a couple of times to get it to do what I want to do and it ends up throwing off the rhythm of the sample. I'm sure that it is somewhat from the normal wear and use of the pedal and that the pedal isn't defective but it just needs to be cleaned or something. Any suggestions on cleaning the footswitches without messing up the pedal or if this is something that I should have someone else look at and try to do?

I bought a Verbzilla pedal two weeks ago and really have only had the chance to play it a few times. When I took it home the first day I played with it for about 20 minutes with no issues until the red light for battery came on. I figured since it was sitting there for awhile the battery was dead. I've come to find out through researching my problem that the battery life on these pedals is something of a crude joke. I'd be purchasing an adapter except for the following problem:

With a brand new battery, I can use any mode on the pedal except the first two.. the spring and the 63 reverb. If I put the pedal in those two modes, I get an instant blinking red light. At this point, it will either allow me to play for a few seconds or just cut off all sound completely. If I use any other mode, it seems to be fine and stay green. The only way to 'reset it' is to pull the guitar side out and plug it back in. I've tried two other batteries just to be sure and both have this problem. I even tried new cables, amp and guitar.. all do the same thing.

Interestingly enough, if I unplug the battery and put it back in, I can get a green light for about 10 seconds on the first two modes before the problem happens again.

So.. did I get a bunk pedal? I still have a few days to return it so I'd like to if so.. but I really like the tones in this pedal and I'd probably try to get another one. This is my first line 6 product and I have to say that I'm not really that impressed with the build quality thus far...

Hello fellow line 6 lovers and helpers

I have a suggestion which I'd like to put forward to users to chew over and find an opinion and maybe if people agree with me push forward to line 6 to make.

As I'm sure most people here are, I love line 6 sounds, especially the effects. I'm a complete sucker for them. Both as a bassist and a guitarist. The M13 and the M9 are potential life savers for me. As mentioned, I play both bass and guitar and I like to keep things simple, ie one pedal board. I've often compromised with effects to make them sound vaguely good with both, maybe minor adjustments depending on the instruments, but now these 2 pedals have come out all my modulations, delays and reverbs are saved.

One thing isn't for me (no doubt it might be a different effect for you, but I'll use this as an example), my distortions. I have about 8 different types of distortions for my guitar and a number of distortions and filter effects for the bass. I have a number of DM4 pedals and FM4 pedals with all my sounds on and between songs I swap them around in the board live. This is annoying, and limiting (especially on bass if I want to go straight from autowah to distortion) and very impractical due to the hardcore industrial velcro I use on my board.

So why don't line 6 make a new M pedal based more on the 4-way stomp pedals. Their nearly there with the M9 size wise, but what I want, just to complete the range is one effect and four options. Only one button can be on at a time, but then in a bank of four you could have your various guitar distortions and filter effects and switch between them across banks, and the same for bass, and it would make going between guitar and bass at gigs so much easier.

Anyone else think this pedal would be useful, for any effects. Maybe someone has the perfect pedal board, but uses several different types of delays and wants a simpler option.

I have a chain of effects i run through although i don't know if that has anything to do with why this pedal isn't working right. I'm running the ac adapter made for that pedal through it and it wasn't til recently that the pedal's lights just started to flicker on and off as if there was power consumption problem or such. I've tried resetting the pedal by holding down the a and d buttons but than it gets to the point that the pedal won't turn on at all. I'm running the boss tu-2, the cs-3, the electro-harmonix big muff, the ps-3, the oc-2, and the dd-3 all before the dl4. All the pedals before the dl4 are daisy chained through a one spot. Anyway thats all i can say i'm not sure what the problem could be.

I've owned this pedal since June 2009, my second one in 3 years. Starting two weeks ago, the pedal will stop working when left unused for about 2 minutes. For example, I'll be rehearsing, we'll finish playing a song, talk for about 2-3 minutes about said song, and when I come back to play it won't engage on any of the 4 buttons. I have to remove the power supply and plug it in again to make it work. Last week, when I did this it erased all my presets and restored it to whatever the previous owner had set. I reset the pedal to factory presets using A-D, but the same issue still occurs. I power it through a Dunlop DC brick, and just to make sure this wasn't the issue, I started using it with the DL4 power supply directly.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. The DL4 is by far my favorite pedal, but if they're this unstable I might have to switch to something more reliable, and I'd HATE to part with it.

I recently purchased a Dl4 off Ebay and it worked correctly for around a month with the offfical line 6 power adapter. Then one day while the delay was turned on it froze and would not turn off. The only thing I could do was to take the power lead out. When i re-inserted it, it would not turn on. No matter what I did, it wouldn't turn on. I know this is no longer covered by warranty, but what is wrong with my pedal and what can be done with it?

I've been using a DL4 pedal for several years, primarily as a looper, and depend on it. My current unit I purchased used a few years ago (hence why it's not registered). For the most part it has worked fine (if you disregard the fact that the power supply connector has to be "tweaked" after using the power supply in order to get it to run off of batteries again). I had experienced some occasional sputters from it - short periods without audio - which I assumed until last night was a shorting patch cable. I was apparently mistaken. Last night I arrived at a solo gig and it was non-funtional. All the buttons work - they activate the lights in the expected manner - but there is no sound, either in terms of effect or pass-through.

I know the inputs/outputs are working, because I get passthrough when the pedal is unplugged (left input routes to left and right output, right input routes to right output only). The unit clicks once quietly when it powers up, and all the audio gets instantly cut off. I have reset the pedal (both soft reset and popping and reinserting the chip) to no effect. I even solidified some of the weaker solder points, no dice. Any suggestions on what might be causing this or how to fix it?

Hello. I have a question about the FM4 Filter Modeler:

As the dry signal passes through the unit, is it converted into digital and then back into analog, or is the dry signal maintained in its original analog form with the digital wet signal mixed in?

i have a dl4 delay pedal and while cleaning up the unit and tightening the 4 stomp buttons, i lost a part or 2. with the unit open, under the button switch there is a small spring. in that small spring is a little plastic piece that resembles a small chunk of a thick plastic straw. this peace is what makes contact to the pad when you stomp on the button. well as you guessed i have lost a few of those little guys. i have used an alternative piece to tide me over for the time being but do need a few of those little guys. how might I be able to find a few?

just got a fm4 for use in an audio installation project, It will be powered up from a sustained + regulated DC power source.

How long can it stay powered ON?

it should stay on for the next few years, unless it needs to be power cycled, and in that case i need to add a timer, but before i add to my system i thought i'd poll the users.

I love the sound of Chorus 2 on the pod 2.0. I read it was based on a CE-1 so I bought a CE-1 clone (retro-sonic chorus) and it doesn't sound anywhere near as good.

Will I find the same pod chorus 2 sound on the ToneCore chorus pedal?

when i tap the unit "off" it goes off and the light turns red, then in about10 seconds the green light comes back on and the effect engages again. is there an easy fix? this unit very lightly used so i would be suprised if this is some serious issue.

First, the question at hand: the switching mechanism on my Echo Park fell apart. There are three sort of x-shaped metal discs that fell out. How do they go back into the little retaining clip?

Now the reason it had a chance to fall apart: I was opening it up to make sure everything looked ok inside. Recently when I set the tempo by the tap switch, it holds where I set it for a few seconds, and then ramps up to maximum speed.

If anybody can help me with either problem, that would be great.

Whats up guys. I just bought a used guitar and peavey amp at a pawn shop. I ended up going to guitar center and buying a uber metal pedal, ac adpator, and a 1 ft cable. I have a long (10ft?) cable going from my guitar, to the pedal, then out to the amp. When I step on the pedal to turn it on, it flashes green, red-red-red (I believe). Its plugged into the wall through adaptor. What could be the problem?

I've got wah effects on my Pod X3 and am after that funky wide range wah sound on the Theme From Shaft.

I got a Hell Babe wah pedal but the range of the wah is too narrow and doesn't give me the sound I'm after. Fortunately it broke so I'm gonna to trade it in for an alternative. Reading around it sounds like a VOX Wah would be a better option for the sound I want than the Hell Babe...if I go down the wah pedal route

Question is am I likely to get a better wah sound from using a EX-1 expression pedal to control the Pod X3 w effects or should I get a dedicated wah pedal.ah

Any help appreciated.

DM4 Switch problems

SO, my second switch on the DM4 has stopped working and turns on the 3rd effect spot for some strange reason. If there is any way known to fix this please let me know. There are no service centers near me to take it to without paying out of pocket. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated, thanks!

I have had my Echo park around 3 years. It has had very little use.

When running either on main power or battery it does not output any signal. With the pedal on the off (amber light) setting, signal is passed through, but when the pedal is on (green light) the signal is cut. I have played with all the settings and nothing has changed.

Any help would be appreciated.

hi, i just purchased a verbzilla and tried it out a band practice, had a really cool idea for one of our songs using the "octo" setting but when i play the riff the volume from the octo just isn't there! any tips? theres no volume knob on the verbzilla (unless i'm over looking something silly)

I use a fender jaguar HH for this particular song, the amp is a fender deville 212 (on the clean channel) and my pedal chain is:

compression>boss fuzz>boss distortion>EH holy stain>verbzilla

for the song i only use the verbzilla, also distortion (but only in certain parts)

I have a Line6 Verbzilla pedal that just stopped working on me. It still powers on and I still get the bypassed signal. When the pedal is engaged I still get the dry signal but no wet (effected) signal. When I turn the mix knob all the way up (100% wet) i get no guitar. How can this problem be fixed? Is it the module that is causing this so I can purchases a new one? This really bums me out because I love this pedal and take good care of my board.

I would appreciate answers/advice.

i bought a dl4 not to long ago. i registered it online when i go it. after a little while I had to send it back. Now it is not even a year later and it is not working. I kept it in pristine condition. it never has been to a gig, and never out of my studio. I barely used it and when i needed it today i was looping a part and it just powered off. audio was passing through but it turned off. i went and bought another power supply and it is not to power supply. so i got batteries and they didnt work. it seems there is a lot of trouble with these pedals. i have been playing guitar for sometime and never had a pedal die on me. this thing appears to be built like a tank so what is really going on? what kind of assistance can you offer me? this obviously is not fair, your products are not cheap and when something costs a lot it should be high quality. my unit is not the only one that is struggling, it is all over the interenet. Do you want your company to have a bad reputation? I am a good customer but recently i am questioning the direction of this company.

Verbzilla not working

I noticed that my Verbzilla is not working. I plug the instrument cable into the unit and the cable out to the amp and the green led comes on, but the effects doesn't come on. When I turn the mix knob all the way up the sound completely cuts out but when I turn it up a third of the way all I hear is the guitar's tone with no reverb.

Things I did to troubleshoot are:

* I tried turning off the pedal turning it back on; flipping through the effect types; turning the trail on/off button

* Took out the module and put it back in

* Changed the batteries

* Changed the amp

* Changed the instrument cables

* Tried reversing the in/out jacks on the pedal from which the amp/guitar feed

I'm not having any luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I just purchased this unit within 2 months.

I have a DL4 and a pedal power 2. On the back of the DL4 it says to use a 9VAC 1.2A power supply. When the L6 outputs on the pedal power 2 is set to power line 6 pedals it outputs 18VDC 200mA max. Can I definately use the pedal power 2 to power this pedal?

I asked about this a while ago and finally have time to complete the repairs. I have sticky knobs on my FM-4 which was diagnosed by you all as dirty pots. How do I get to them to clean them? Do I go in through the bottom of the FM-4 or the top to get to the parts of the pots I need to clean?

Regardless, I'll need to take off the knobs on the top of the pedal, but I don't see any of the traditional screws to loosen the hold on the pot stems. Is there a friendly way to get these off?

(Note: going to a dealer is out since getting to the nearest one would cost as much as repairing the pedal--what in total might be the same as buying a new one--and the warranty is invalid since I've taken the pedal overseas. Really, doing this myself is the only reasonable option.)

FM4 Help

I get some very cool sounds from most of the FM4 settings, but on a few there seems to be weird 'quacks' in the sound. That's the best way to describe it. They're especially noticeable on the Synth Strings and Growler (I think those are the names - right around 5 o'clock on the dial). I can get a nice synth sound sometimes, but then out of the blue there seems to be weird jumps in the signal and ends up sounding super distorted and messy. I don't think it's part of the intended effect.

Also, on a few of the channels (around 3 o'clock on the dial), there seems to be a slight (less than a quarter second) of delay between when I hit the notes and when they actually sound off.

My effects chain was guitar>noise gate - noise gate sub loop (with an OD/distortion pedal)>FM4>amp

I changed it to just guitar>fm4>amp, and I was still getting the problems.

Are either of these things normal and/or fixable?

DL4 has started cutting out when EX-1 is attached.

Hi,

I've been using a DL-4 delay modeller with an EX-1 expression pedal for about 3 years. About 2 years ago, the unit decided that it would no longer work with batteries, only when plugged in to the mains adapter, but otherwise it seemed to work fine.

However, today it's started going a bit crazy when the EX-1 pedal is plugged in, and the pedal is on (true-bypass works fine). Approximately every 5-7 seconds it just cuts out all output volume for about 1 second and then returns to normal. This was on my normal presets which I've not changed in a long while, and this seemed to occur on any delay setting whilst the pedal was engaged.

Unplugging the EX-1 expression pedal seems to make everything work again, though obviously I can't then fine-tune the performance.

Have any similar problems been reported on any other older DL-4's, and would you have any idea where I might look to try and work out what's wrong with it?

Stereo/Mono input/output question

I was just wondering if there would be any benefit to using the following set up. My guess is no, but thought I'd ask as I'm unclear exactly how the stereo/mono part of these pedals work.

I am running a Boss CH-1 Super Chorus into the Line 6 Echo Park delay. The Boss chorus has a mono input, but a stereo output. I was wondering if it would have any effect to go from the stereo output on the chorus, into the inputs on the Echo Park, and then mono out of the Echo Park into my amp. Will this result in a different mix, or will the second channel from the chorus be disregarded?

I have the echo park stomp pedal since December and have just starting to use it, I have put in 4 different new 9 volt batterys and only last 1 or 2 hours of playing time there must be something wrong with the pedal. DL4 keeps freezing up, going to a weird setting even after reset

I'm on tour right now and my DL4 is going totally haywire! Randomly, it goes to a setting where the B light goes on no matter which pedal I push. I tried reseting by holding the A and D buttons while plugging in quarter inches into the input and output but it didn't work. I tried with different combinations and finally managed to reset it by holding down the A and D buttons while plugging in. It worked for one show and then at the end of that show it went back to the same crazy setting! This time I could not reset it so I gave up and just used the crazy setting as my delay. Then, randomly, at the end of that show it switched back to normal, with my stored settings. Basically, it has become totally unreliable. It's under guitar center warranty. My tour lasts for another month and the delay is an essential part of many songs. What should I do??

I recently bought the an m13. I love the synth modulations but am having trouble with the string synth. Its difficult to stop the sound when i play from jumping around sometimes in a totally different key. I tried putting the mix more with the guitar sound so to reduce the strength of the effect but i'm not having much luck. Any suggestions??????

I purchased a dm4 stompbox and immediately after using it with my amp I am now having problems with my amp. Clean tones are way distorted and high gain is extremely muffled. I am using a Crate Flexwave amp. I tried it with a Roland Microcube as well and am having the same problems with it now. It is very bad with the stompbox plugged in or not. Could the stompbox blow out my amps?

When I run a long cable from my guitar to the input on my Uber Metal, I get this god awful electrical noise, but when I add another pedal to the signal path before it, and run a very short patch cable to the Uber Metal, the noise stops and everything sounds fine. I thought it may have been my cables, but they're just fine.

Also, batteries don't work, only a power supply. Any ideas as to what's wrong or what could have happened to it, and can it be fixed?

liqua-flange (stereo dock) loose pedal NOT ANSWERED YET

I've recently got a liqua-flange pedal (module and dock together as the whole pedal) and the box looked like it had taken a battering at the end where the pedal was. on opening it the pedal does work to switch the effect on and off, and for tap, but it's very loose. my verbzilla and constrictor pedals feel very sturdy, but the liqua-flange feels like it's ready to fall off if I step on it too hard. is there a way to press the sides in (the ones you press to open the battery compartment) to remove the pedal totally to see if there's anything damaged in there? or should I just return it? All i'm concerned about is returning it, and the mail order shop saying that it's meant to be loose, and then just shipping it back to me..

I adore my DL4. I use it alot as a stereo looper with my keyboard.

I'm hoping that in the future I'd see a new rev that would have longer loop memory.

Certain aspects of the JM4 seem to be just the thing:

* longer loop RAM

* SD card storage

But, for me, it looks like the JM4 lacks two things:

* stereo input/processing

* the "rec/dub play play-once half/reverse" dedicated interface.

In short, I'd LOVE to see a DL4 "rev2" with longer loop capacity.

Any hope for such a thing?

Is it possible to mod my existing DL4 to get more loop memory?

I just bought a Verbzilla to use with my 5E3... and the pedal DOUBLES the amount of hiss. The noise is completely unacceptable, so I installed a passive effects loop between the pre-amp and phase-inverter, which caused oscillations when the Verbzilla mix control was turned past 2. I need a definite answer about why/why not the Verbzilla should work with a 5E3 with a passive loop.I'll post the loop schematic I used later today.
