Hace un año, inicié este Thread con el fin de compartir experiencias con los compañeros de habla Hispana..

..hoy de nueva cuenta se abre este espacio.. Sin embargo con motivo de la reciente actualización de la plataforma de Line 6 Forums

quiero aprovechar para establecer algunos lineamientos que considero importantes para optimizar el buen funcionamiento tanto de los Threads como del Foro.

Esta reciente mejora como lo ha dicho ya Line 6 Miller no busca tan solo refrescar la imagen y dar a los usuarios nuevas opciones,

sino también la de re-organizar toda la información de: documentos, preguntas y respuestas, tópicos y demás..

Por lo que veo necesario el establecer algunos lineamientos y reglas dentro del Thread para impedir que volvamos a caer en el desorden..

..ya que en el pasado se contaba con un mega-post que contenia información tan variada como extensa y era practicamente imposible encontrar algo en particular.

Recording using POD X3 Live?

I recently bought a POD X3 Live and found about the USB audio drop out problem. So, I need tips on alternative ways to record using a computer, knowing that I use POD Farm Plug-in in Ableton Live. Please keep in mind that I live in Egypt and it will be very difficult to attempt the hardware fix. Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Pod X3 Live blank screen and no sound

I went to my gig last night and my Pod X3 Live started with a blank lit up screen and no sound. All other buttons lit up correctly, could change patches/banks, tap tempo etc, but a full blank screen and no sound.

I thought it could be adapter problem so I used the Line 6 adapter of the other guitarist in the band, but nth changed.

I tried to start the unit in safe mode, it apparently started in Safe Mode (no other pedals lit up this time), but since the screen remained blank I could do NTH!!! So I had to play the whole pop/rock band gig with a guitar directly into PA as the lead player of the band. If you play one gig like that, you'll know what I suffered!

When I got home, I connected X3 to my PC and Monkey recognizes the device, so does Gearbox. I can change the patches in Gearbox, but still no sound.

And what is more funny Monkey doesn't show the firmware info and the driver details in its "update" page.

I tried to record into Ableton Live. There is such an extremely low level and distorted sound. It is clear that the device can change patches, I could hear it after I normalized the recorded tracks.

I also tried reinstalling the Monkey and the device drivers, but nth changed.

So this is my 3rd Line 6 Device that leaves me in frustration in the middle of gig on stage. I experienced the same with my Variax 700 guitar and also with my bass, both with the very common "suddenly some strings go softer or even silent than the others" problem.

So how angry should I be and what is your solution to my Pod X3L problem?

PS: Yes, there is an authorized dealer/service here in Turkey, trying to repair my Variax 700 guitar for 6 months with the help of you guys in USA.

My computer can't hang when I have to many plugins (Pod Farm) being used at once.

I pretty sure it's not my computer though, this is a very good cpu I have, a beast. I think it has more to do with the music recording software I'm using, Magix Music Maker 10. This is particularly cheap software, like 60 bucks 4 or 5 years ago. My friend gave it to me. It does alright and can use the plugins, gearbox or pod farm. When I have 7-9 tracks using the plugins its tough for my computer to keep things smooth, no hick ups etc. Is this gonna be a problem no matter what kind of recording software I use? Is there a limit to how many tracks can use the plugins at once before it freaks even the best computers out. I was thinking about getting Cakewalk Sonar software. Will this help? I record guitar, bass and vocals dry through the POD X3 live and use plugins in the mixer of Magix Music Maker to get things to sound best so I want to have pod plugins on lots of tracks if needed. Please can some one give me the rundown/technical specs on this? Thanks.

Sound Squeak when using pedal as volume or wah

Since the first day getting my podx3 live [bout a month ago], i hear some kinda squeak or long overtone of some sort when i rock the pedal back and forth when im not playing anything.

I read a question about a squeak but it sounded like it was coming from the user's pedal and not from the sound single from the pod.

No firmware/driver update for X3 Pro with Monkey

Hi,

I've just bought an X3 Pro, and wanted to update the drivers and firmware, both of which are at 1.00.

I have the latest version of Monkey installed, and it identfies my X3 Pro is connected. However, in the updates tab, the only thing that shows up is the Applications sub menu. No drivers/ firmware options to be seen (which can be seen in the updates tab when I switch devices to my XT Pro). So there is seemingly no way to update the firmware or drivers!

Any help very much appreciated.

Using a Boss FV-500H pedal with the X3 Live

Was wondering how to calibrate this pedal when connecting it to the X3 Live. I connected it to the Pedal 2 Input as an expression pedal. The problem I'm having is the toe down position is minimum and the heel down position is maximum. How do I reverse this? Is this pedal compatible with the X3 Live?

Hi,

I have a problem with my POD X3Live.

I played 2 hours, pod was connected into computer via USB.

Next i turned off POD for 15min. Computer was still turned on.

When i turned on again, on the display showed first Line 6 Logo and next text "UPDATE FLASH".

When I update flash via Monkey on the display show text "UPDATE FLASH..."

But after restart POD X3 Live, this text is still on display .

Can you help me? Or i have to send my pod to repair?

I have a Line6 HD147, and I want to ask that, if im using a Line6 X3 Live as channel switcher thru Midi, can I use the X3 Lives other features?

For example : I make a sound with the X3 live to channel 1, then I make a sound with the HD147 to channel 2.

This thread was started purely to direct people to the feature request page on this site which people are doing and that's great.

Whining and complaining doesn't achieve anything, so please don't drag down the intention of this thread with negativity.

There appears to be some misconceptions driving negative comments. Just because the POD X3 manages 2 tone paths doesn't mean it has 2 processors, it doesn't. If you open it up and peek inside you'll see just one Sharc processor in there. Also, with the improvements in the sound on the X3, Line 6 told us that the modelling was improved to take advantage of the processing power and the digital sample rate, this too would chew up a big chunk of processing power. The POD X3 has all the bass and vocal stuff in there already. It handles 8 tracks of digital data out the USB port at a high sample rate, more grunt gone on that too.

So, I am guessing that when the code cutters got hold of the hardware, they packed as much into the unit as the hardware could handle without leaving much room for any extras.

Where that leaves us is quite simple. We say thanks for making the POD X3 so much better than the PODxt, but if it's possible, could we see some of the new effects that have been developed for the M13 included in the POD X3?

It doesn't hurt to be polite. My parents taught me to say "please".

X3 Live 8000900C error

I am having the 8000900C error between my X3 Live and my windows XP laptop. It worked without problems when I last connected them a few weeks ago. I read the related discussions but I cannot find any solutions. The X3 Live still works fine with my G4 Mac (10.4.11) but I would like to solve the problem with my laptop.      Question! Installing my new POD X3L Gearbox.After install it and log on I did update firmware and flash memory.I so far everything proceeded good.After Monkey disappeared update all other drivers (photo). Is that supposed to be? By MONKEY-V1.26 does not have this problem!
   In addition, the device manual I read that in the SYSTEM-POD X3L should see ESN, au I do not. ESN is the Monkey! Device effectively communicates with your computer, Monkey and Gearbox.

hello everybody @ line6 as a line 6 freak - not since the very first hour, but since i bought a pod xt live - i am now a proud owner of the pod x 3 live. i play it through a marshall 9100 poweramp and a hughes&kettner vintage 4x12 box. when i had to find a subject for a research work that i have to do for my diploma at the SAE in zuerich, switzerland, i came up with the idea of comparing a marshall jcm 900 with both the clean- und dist-channel-emulation in the pod x 3. my plan is to compare the pure pod sound with the pod played through the poweramp and the jcm 900 box, and to compare these with the real amp. i intend to really test the pod out, listening, measuring, comparing waveforms etc. empirically i would expect the pod to do a real good job in this challenge! it is clear to me, that you can't reveal your business secrets just for the success of my work, but... here is my question: could you help me with some deeper insights into the principles that are applied in the pod x 3? could you eventually give me more informations about how the models are designed? ... if it has something to do with convolution or whatever? are there books about programming audio dsp which could help me to understand better how the pod really works? Hum and Noise, Noise and Hum

This has probably been discussed many times , but I can't seem to find the answers.

Just got a X3 Live this weekend.

Using a Strat, thru headphones, or through a mackie mixer .... I'm getting a TON of Noise and Hum on pickups 1-3-5. So much so that most patches/presets are unusable due to the xtreme noise. A few presets even exhibit extreme noise using pickup positions 2 and 4.

I've also tried my humbucker guitar and it's a little better, but still more noise than a normal stage setup using a real amp. Waaayyy too much noise.

I've tried several different outlets throughout my house and it stays the same. I would certainly not be able to play this thing out live with this much noise and not being able to use pickups 1-3-5

Any ideas or solutions will be hugely appreciated. Thank you,

hi I have a little problem with my pod x3

When i change on the stampboard the effect from lets say 1d to 1 c...sound from gearbox hold the line solo (good sound for alive from Pearl Jam...any other suggestion is welcom) and change to Lifeson sound Xanadu (good for bridge sound Alive from pearl jam...any other suggestion is welcom) it is oke. but if i change back again the sound is dropped a few seconds. Irritating while playing with the band on stage and practising.

How can i make sure that will not happen. I have this problem all the time with changing from effect to effect.

Also sometimes he is out of control with volume suddenly or goes to the effect 2

..i've got 2 tonebone pedals with high gain settings in the loop , configured 'pre' , and yet to get enough level , the return is at +20db -

the amp block is off , and i've got the eq set with mid cuts , to try and get the cleanest sound , going into the fx return of a marshall avt combo..

this works ok , but if i try to switch the amp block on , the levels all are way too low -

if i put the loop 'post' , then the comp/boost doesn't have nearly the desired effect..

i must be doing something wrong..

also there's alot of noise when the pedals are on - the gate seems to have little effect - shouldn't it be at the end of the chain?

lastly , the momentary display feature for the amp tone controls doesn't seem to be working at all , minor gripe , but still ??

any advice appreciated , thanx , cam..

USING CABINET MODELER OR NOT?

i have been tweaking this unit.

it never ends, i am using a 5150 peavey with an mc 212 cabinet, (marshall), and lately i been really bothered by the sound i am getting, using the cabinet modeler it seems to add a weird overall bass, and i have to turn almost all the way down the bass on the x3 live, to make it sound somewhat decent but still it lacks something. i tried today without the cabinet modeler just the amp model assuming that my cabinet will color the sound anyway, what i found was a more clear sound, that does not distort as much, and you can turn up the bass on the amp model, and there you go, that amp starts pumping bass all over the way it is supossed to be. i dont know if any one has experienced this i would love to hear from you guys.

I am using GearBox to edit settings on the Pod X3 live.

In GearBox is there a way to view both amp model settings at the same time without have to switch back and forth using the Tone 1 and Tone 2 buttons.?

If not, does anybody know of an alternative program which exposes both amp models at once?

extreme cross modulation to aux in channel

I wanted to track two guitars with the following dual tone configuration.

Guitar one to guitar input processed with tone one routed to direct out left.

Guitar two to aux input processed with tone two routed to direct out right.

Both guitars with a high gain distortion sound.

I noticed an extreme cross modulation from the processed signal of tone one into the aux in channel every time a jack connector is put in to the aux input.

First I though it might be a misfunction of my device but I ran the same setup with the devices of one of my collegues and there was the same effect.

I guess this cannot be normal.

So what can I do to prevent such cross modulations?

X3 Pro + shortboard footswitch questions

I've been thinking about selling off my X3L and getting an X3 Pro + shortboard. I have a couple of questions about footswitch controls...

First question: Can I set up the reverb switch per patch to control comp/amp/loop/verb? Or am I limited just to turning reverb on/off with this switch?

Second question: Can I use any footswitch in the same way I use the "TONE 2 / HOLD FOR DUAL" switch on the X3L?

Hola como les va? soy otro feliz poseedor de un Pod X3, y tengo una duda. No logro conseguir sonidos realmente limpios, con la simulacion del Roland JC120. Me llama la atencion, probe dejar solo el amp, y la simulacion de cajas. Con el gain en 1 e igual sigue distorsionando. Sera un problema de mi pod? o alguna mala configuracion?

Probe tambien bajar el volumen de mis pickups, (EMG 81). Y el "problema" continua.

Tambien tengo el pod totalmente actualizado con el Monkey.

Espero que me puedan ayudar.

No Sound from POD X3

Hi all,

This is the situation. I downloaded a patch into my X3 and saved it. Half way playing through my X3, suddenly the sound gone. I tried to change to other preset, there was still no sound. Below were my actions trying to rectify the problem:

- switched it OFF then ON again - no sound

- changed to TUNER mode, the tuner did not have any input signal.

- tried using other guitars and cables - no sound

- swtiched it OFF then ON it again the next day - no sound

Im totally clueless of what had happened to my unit. For info, my unit has never had any problem for the past 2 years. Please help.

Some of you may know that I have recently acquired an AxeFX Ultra - this will be a very short (and hopefully informative) post on my impressions so far:

• Power Amp section - Incredible detail & control have been given to this section of the Amp modeling and IMO, this is the biggest feature that sets it apart from the rest. Just by changing some of the 'advanced parameters' for the power amp you can make it both sound and feel like 20 different amps. Sag and Master Volume controls effect how the amp compresses as well as accurately reflecting the changes in frequency response you would hear from a real tube amp - these work better than any master volume or power scaling circuits I have heard to date. It seems to mimic actual sound pressure into a mic, even at very low volumes.

• Preamp section - The preamps also provide numerous 'advanced parameters' which greatly influence the sounds produced - for instance, the Tone stacks can be moved pre, post, or even after the power amp, providing 3 different sounds & responses. The Tone circuits can also be 'tuned', moving all frequency bands higher or lower, greatly effecting the overall character of the sound. Other parameters include Warmth, Thump, Low & High cut freq, Bright Cap size, Presence freq, Active or Passive tone circuitry, Transformer match, Cab resonant freq, etc.

• Signal chain/Effects routing - Although sometimes a bit time-consuming, this unit offers the most flexible & complete signal routing options I have ever seen in a guitar processor, and yes that includes the GT-10 (or pretty much any other rack effect) The signal can be split into up to 4 different effects paths and mixed/summed to stereo at the end.

• Effects - Plenty, and very high quality including low, high, and bandpass filters and an infinitely programmable Wah.

• My overall impression - I have never experienced anything like this. It's a whole new dimension for me, and I truly believe I could be content to never play through my tube amps again (yes, even my beloved '65 Super-Reverb) - I could never have said this before.

So I've been trying to figure out some different setups for the X3 Live..What I want to know is how could I used the X3 for basically just delays, phasers, flange, and thats really it...I would use external stompboxs for distortion and overdrive (ie a TS-9 or Sparkle Drive)...then I would want those tones to come out of my amp (let's say a Vox AC-15)..to be more clear I would want this signal chain: guitar, delays (X3), overdrives, amp....or how could I do guitar overdrives, X3, amp..just some questions about setups hope you can help thanks.

And I can't get any sound of my pod!!!

i have a really high gain patch in my X3L... and I'm sure I can hear a slight digital clipping going on... but my clip light doesn't come on...

so i know that there's certain FX's setups in my XT that used to sound like that and not show a clip light, whereas others would show the clip light... but the problem i have is that even if I turn up all the vol and gain knobs on an amp and stomp I can't get the clip light to show on my X3L.

I'm assuming it's broken, but does anyone know of an FX/amp combination on their X3 that will always get teh clip light on so I can test... I have high gain pickups in all my guitars so I have the power to clip... so to speak, lol

Pod X3L: two pedals, each exclusively for one tone?

Hi, is there way to configure Pod X3 Live with 2nd expression pedal in that way to have each pedal exclusively for one of two tones? For example built-in pedal for tone 1 and second pedal for tone 2? I cannot find it anywhere, when I connect the second pedal, the Pod automatically redistributes the fuctions and I can just select "Control both Tones", "Just Tone 1" or "Just Tone 2", but anywhere something like "Pedal 1 for Tone 1" and "Pedal 2 for Tone 2". Is there a document that matches the Line 6 model/cabinet/effect name to the corresponding real name for the X3L? I've searched this forum to no avail, pardon me if I missed it. I have found a utility that fills in the names in Gear Box, but it appears to be Windows-only and I am on a Mac.

POD X3 Live button not working

I fairly recently (within the past year) purchased a POD X3 Live. After only a couple of months of very gentle (bedroom -- not stage) use, the "bank down" button quit working. It clicks, but doesn't register.

I'm a fairly decent tinkerer -- is this a common problem that I can jump in there and fix without voiding any warranties? Or would I be better served trying to get it fixed? What's the warranty cover?

Hi there

I raised this a few months ago after I was unable to register my X3 Live, which I bought new. I initially raised it as a question on the forum, I got an answer from another user which was essentially "try again tomorrow". Essentially the problem is that when I enter the serial number it says it's already registered. (I don't know how, because it was bought new (or so I thought) from a reputable London dealer.) Anyway, I let it slide because I didn't really need to register at the time.

I need to use it with POD Farm now however and the POD Farm software is not recognising the unit - for some reason I think this is because it isn't registered properly.

Could you help me register the unit and also get it running with POD Farm please?

Volume issues through poweramp in

When I hook up my Pod X3 Live to the power amp in of my combo amp, even when using line level, the sound is significantly (unacceptably) quieter than when I go through the guitar input. Does this mean that I need to add an external preamp before or after the pod to use this input?

POD X3 Filter Effects

Hi there

I was wandering what other people think of the stomp effects in the POD X3, specifically the filters. I've always loved line 6 sounds and the FM4 filter pedal is fantastic, yet the effects in the POD X3 (Live, which is what I've got) just doesn't seem to sound as good no matter how much I tweak. Does anyone else find this? Especially with guitar. I think it's the tracking mainly. The pitch shifter sounds terrible. Are they the same effects as the effects in the FM4? If not, Line 6 it's time to do a software update for the POD X3 with the FM4 effects in if possible. Would be very nice.

I just purchased props' Record. Smugly assuming I was more intelligent than the average guitarist, I wanted to use my computers soundcard to bypass the whole "usb-dropout/latency/etc. etc" issue. I figured that it wouldn't be a problem if I only used the usb to control the floor-unit via Gearbox and to authorize the extra line 6 tones in Record. I guess I underestimated the thorough prevalence of X3L USB-aphasia Syndrome's effect on the unit's fundamental functionality from the aberrant, corrupted secondary level functionality.

USB connectivity=null direct out xlr, null live out 1/4''.

s/pdif still works (but I wanted to record my guitar dry with s/pidf, and stereo wet with xlr's, I may have even wanted to monitor through my "Stck PwrAmp" with my old friends, the 1/4" output twins. I guess I'm just greedy).

Who do I talk @ to get this mutha' fixed 'er suntin?....Dang.

I got an pod x3 a while ago. And it worked 60% of the time, I would either get good sound or just alot of humming and noise. But now it wont work anymore :-(

Does anyone else have/had this problem? It happens when i use the pod on my amp and computer. I get just get noise through the XLR outpust also, so maybe its some kind of hardware problems. If anyone one know what to do, then please tell me.

I get a free pod farm to use with mi pod x3 live, but they don't work. When I try to use it show the mensage

"No compatible Line6 USB divice have been detected", and show the options, UX1 UX2 GX KB37 TonePort UX1...... Until Guitar port".

After that the software open but don't work, there is a mensage in the botton " NO autorized device conected, pod farm cannot process audio"

I folowed the instructions of the "pod farm use guide" but nothing work. What I can do to solver that problem?

Hi!

I would like to thank you all in advance for your time and concern. I have recently purchased a POD X3 Live. I have installed line6 monkey, drivers and all the latest updates along with the firmware.

When I try to use CuBase 4 for recording I cannot get the latency below 15ms which causes a noticeable echo effect. How can I lower the latency under 6ms?

When I try to use Audacity 1.2.6 latency problem does not occur anymore but when I record long audio what I play starts to change after 2mins. The rhythms I play does not match with drum tracks after 2mins. Does anyone have an idea why this can be happening?

I have Dell laptop with an Intel Dual Core centrino processor (T7200 – 2Ghz - 2MB cache) with 2GB of RAM and USB2 connectivity

POD X3 problems communicating with PC

I recently purchased a POD X3 and am running Vista 32 bit. I've been having some problems with its connections to my computer through USB. It works fine without the computer.

I have tried different methods and orders of installation of drivers and software such as Monkey, Pod Farm and Gearbox, but have not been able to make my POD work on the computer.

I installed the drivers and they look to be working. I have version 3.4.3.6 now, I was able to install the newer ones once, but still had the same problem. Now I'm unable to install these new drivers, it fails with the USB driver install.

So, where I am now: in the "Sound" box from the control panel, the POD is designated as the default device and it is working. However, no sound comes out of the POD (or reads out on the screan). For example, the tests produce no sound, and it also doesn't pick up any sound in the computer from my guitar.

Also, it won't communicate with gearbox (Code 8000900C, Midi device timed out waiting for a response). However, It does detect the pod.

Not sure if it's related, but I am also unable to update the flash memory from Monkey. again, something about the MIDI device. Confusing because this device doesn't have MIDI connectors.

So moral of the story is, I've tried everything I could find on the FAQ's and have uninstalled and reinstalled everything multiple times, but for some reason, the POD will not communicate with the computer.

Non-working power adaptor

My name is Robert, and i'm from Wollongong Australia. I recently purchased a brand new Pod X3 off of an american ebay user, which arrived here two days ago. Due to the difference in power supplies between the US and Australia, i bought a 240->120 step-down transformer to be able to use the power adaptor for your product, however, upon plugging it in today, i found that my Pod did not work. I got out an electrical meter, and discovered that there is no voltage coming out of the Pod X3's power adaptor that arrived with the product (the seperate transformer was putting out the correct amount).

My question is two-fold in nature: Firstly, does this non-working adaptor get covered under warranty? If so, how do i claim this warranty? Furthermore, are there Pod power adaptors that are specifically made for the australian 240v power supply?

In case it's of any assistance, my X3's registration number is (21)X3B1S5931002196.

Exiting tuner mode switches output settings

when exiting tuner mode on my POD X3 with FW 1.21, it changes the output settings from "combo pwramp mode" to "match studio/direct mode" which is quite annoying.

Do you have a workaround/fix for that?

In Line6 Monkey cannot see that my X3 needs update but in device info there is Flash Memory version 1.15

I just downloaded FlashMemory 1.21 ...and don't have any idea how to load it into device.

On the download site i found : "use line 6 monkey" , but i can't find any kind of option to load/open something from internal hdd.

What I'm doing wrong?

How to connect a POD X3 Live to switch between a SV112 and a Atomic Reactor FR?

Hi guys!

I need help with a new idea I have for my setup (electric guitar and voice) where I want to hook up my POD X3 Live to both a Spider Valve 112 and a Atomic Reactor FR and switch between them. I’ll appreciate your input!

This is what I’m doing currently:

* Electric guitar – Tone 1: I’m using a POD X3 Live connected to a Spider Valve 112 (with Strymon’s SVPre) with the 4 cables method for effects (pre and post). I also like using the modeling section of the X3L from time to time (only preamps, no cab / mic / room sims) by disabling the FX Loop so that I can send the signal to the SV’s Power Amp section.

* Mic – Tone 2: I’m using POD X3 Live connected to a Fender Acoustasonic SFX II into its mic XLR Input. It also has a XLR direct out for going into the PA so I can use the SFX as monitor.

This has been a great setup so far but I’ve always been frustrated with the fact that I can’t take advantage of the cab/mic/room sims on the POD in live situations because all configurations I’ve tried for amplifying patches with those options don’t sound good (at least not as good as what I’ve achieved with them while recording). So I’m flirting with the idea of getting an Atomic Reactor FR amp to amplify electric guitar patches with preamp/cab/mic/room sims through it.

For what I’ve read, the Reactor FR has both an Unbalanced 1/4 Input and a Balanced XLR input. It also has a Balanced XLR “Thru” which serves as an output that replicates the signal going into the Balanced XLR Input so that you can send it directly to a PA (it doesn’t works for the signal going into the 1/4 Input so if I go into that one from the POD then I’ll have to use a mic to amplify the Reactor FR on the PA… But that’s no biggy for me really).

What I’ll like to know is if I can use any of the available outputs left on the POD with my current setup connected, to send the electric guitar signal to the Atomic Reactor FR when I want to amplify patches that have preamp/cab/mic/room sims (this way switching between the SV and the Atomic FR depending on the patch).

Any thoughts guys? Thanks in advance for the info!

POD 2.0 Swell vs. X3 Live "autoswell"

I really liked the "Swell" feature on my POD 2.0; however the "autoswell" on the X3Live doesn't seem to work the same. E.g., when I have both functions (Ramp and Depth) cranked all the way to 100%, and I hit a note, there is no "delay" in the attack, like on POD 2.0, followed by the swell. I really want a "zero to 100%" swell like the 2.0 version. Am I doing something wrong, or is there another setting that needs to be tweaked?

Now I have a problem to register this gear at line6.com

Though I created an entry with the serialnumber and the date of purchase and I can see it in the list line6 monkey says that the device is not registered yet.

Deleting the entry and creating a new one doesn't help. Monkey says its still unregisterd.

New POD X3 Live - presets seem corrupt

When the POD X3 Live came out a year ago, I was one of the first to buy it. Back then, I had issues where in the middle of a live performance, it would simply stop producing audio, so I returned it and stuck with my former setup for the past year. With pedals starting to wear out and amps not getting any lighter, I decided to give the X3 Live another shot. After getting the outputs set up and levels set, I began running through the presets. It appears that I'm getting some digital-sounding noises on most tones that use modulation effects. The firmware was at 1.15 when I got the unit, and through the Mac OS X version of Monkey, I flashed it up to 1.21 and updated to the latest drivers. This did not change the issue.

I've hread that there is a chance I will need to re-flash to 1.0 and then back to 1.21 to resolve this. Is that correct, or am i looking at something else going wrong here?

can't get my x3 to work as recording interface

I've downloaded the driver, it shows up in Sonar as my ASIO record and playback master...have the input on my tracks set to channel 3 on the x3 and the output going to the x3. When I hit play the meters kick, and they show the signal going to the x3 but I get nothing in the headphones. Also, I've turned the volume way down on the x3 patch and if I even breathe on the guitar the input meter kicks way into the red.

Can you help me??

Buzzing from pickups

A little off topic but it follows on from a previous post...

I previously had complained about a hissing/buzzing sounds through headphones which i thought was the USB, the headphones, the lead, pretty much everything but now i realise the problem is my pickups. I have a Fender Strat and the pickup noise is quite noticable. I am sitting at my computer so theres the usual array of electrical equipment around me. I notice if i spin around 180 degrees and face away from it all the noise is significantly less, although its unworkable given i have to find the sweet spot.

Is there anything i can do? i have standard Fender Mexican pickups - are they rubbish?

I bought the X3 as a demo device from a german music store. The personal registration onto my name seems ok at my line6 account.

I'm using my pod x3 live on a computer using windows 7 ultimate 64bit.

Usually i got a blu screen (classic windows error) with reboot of windows..

the error is in L6PODX3LV.SYS file...

this never happened using windows XP on THE SAME PC.

I have the monkey 1.26 (becouse the v. 1.30 doesn't work with windows7)

the last version of driver and firmware..

Can someone help me please?

Pod x3 live through amp fx loop

Hello whenever i plug my pod x3 live into my amps fx loop like you would any fx pedal , the only way i can controll my amps volume is with the pod's fx loop send level , i must be doing something wrong , im also pluging into my pods guit input , its like the fx loop bypases my amps volume , i wanted to use the pod just like any other fx pedal through my amp so i can combine my amps distortion and reverb with the pod without the horrible noise of the pods reverb before the amps distortion , hope i make sense , but i cant change my amps volume unless i use the fx send on my pod . Ive heard of the 4 cable method , but can i use the pod the same as i would a distortion pedal or delay pedal without that crunchy delay before amp distortion sound , sorry for the long question . I have a Vox valvetronix 2x12 100Watt combo .

Little by little, I realise “the most powerfull pedalboard ever” is not so powerfull that I thought...

I gess the harmonizer may be one of the most (or even the most) feature request you received for X3 series.

So, just to avoid your consumers’ waste of time, I’ll make a simple theorical question.

Of course, in the case of a positive response, the company will not be bound to launch any new model.

I’m sure we, X3’s users, almost two years after the release, have the right to know the truth.

In case of a negative answer, you don’t have to explain anything.

So, my question is:

Is the X3L, the way it’s now (78 guitar amps, 28 bass amps, etc., etc.), able to run a decent harmonizer, like you put inside Spider Valve IV, whose effects are based on the X3L’s ones?

Of course Line 6 knows the answer.

Please, be loyal to your loyal customers, just saying yes or no for us.

Once again, it’s just a theorical question!

Like I said, no other explanation is needed and you obviously will not be bound to any type of release (paid or for free).

I owned a PODxt live pedal and was very happy with it and all the software that came with it. decided to upgrade to a POD X3 Live pedal back in february and am very happy with the pedal itself but cant seem to get it to do anything with my computer. Tried to get riffworks to work with it a few months back and had no success it kept sayin that it either was not registered or not connected which it was both because it is showin up on the site where i registered it and my computer is recognizing that "POD X3 Live is connected". Now i am attempting once again to get all this to work so i can use my favorite software Riffworks for recording but now even Line 6 Monkey is showing that it is not connected even tho i am signed in and everything is obviously plugged in correctly or my computer would not recognize it. PLEASE HELP. I am very pleased with everything Line 6 has to offer but i paid over $400 for this and believe i should be able to use all the Perks that come with it. Please Help!!! I was wondering about using the PODX3 live for both guitar and vocals while playing live.

Wouldn't the foot pedal control volume for both at the same time ? What if you want to

just increase volume for just one input , is it possible ? I currently have POD XT Live and was thinking of

going to the PODX3 and hopefully solving individual volume control for both guitar and vocal with just the PodX3 Live

I use my PODx§Live with the Atomic and i'm very satisfied with that setup.

Atomic sound best with POD, if volume will be some higher level as living-room level, on living-room level

it sound not so good (as many tube amps too). I was always with Atomic in my Probe-room and it was all OK.

But now i've moved to another house and i must (and want) to play my POD in my living-room.

The biggest problem are my neighbors-they can't "tolerate" that volume (as i play through Atomic).

(Many of us,sure know that issue,he-he...)

And i think now about 5w Tube-Combo,that will give me best sound (in sonar sense) on the quiest Volume,

i mean really pretty leise.Anyone have the expirienses with 5w Tube-Combos in that matter???

I was reading many Tests-Opinions on Internet about differents 5w Tube Combos(Blackstar,LittleGiant and co.),but they all don't mention that aspect,

what is important to me.

If anyone can help me and can share the expirienses about good sounding (on living-room level) 5w Tube Combo,

it would be very appreciated!!! I cant' move to another house just now, and my neighbors are very nervous already (me too...:-)

Bender doesn't always work

I have POD X3 live, and use tones from self creation and tones downloaded from customtone library.

I have this problem, not all tones using bender work in my pod x3 live with expression pedal. ( bender is on and expression pedal is active)

Some of them work but some of them don't, and if I create a tone by myself using bender it never works.

I forget what files that work and which don't.

Could you please help, probably I miss something?

I just updated my firmware to the latest version. Fixed an issue where I couldn't toggle between Tone1 and Tone2. But now I have new problems.

When editing, I've found that sometimes when I click stompbox (or engage the Wah, or mod, or delay) the Tone2 light turns off and the display shows black bar on top line and still shows Tone2 name. So I see the name for Tone2, but it seems I might be actually in Tone1 (or neither). Where the name for Tone1 would be, it's just all blacked out.

At that point engaging or disengaging any of the effects (stompbox/mod/delay) doesn't seem to do anything. I have to either switch to another patch, or toggle Tone1/Tone2 back and forth to get back.

It's getting very frustrating when trying to edit patches because of this glitch. It did not used to do this before the update.

It's also begun to change screens sometimes while I'm editing. I read in another post a suggestion to move all pots and park them, which is good advice for minor corrosion and buildup on the pots. But I didn't have this problem at all before the update, and now it's happening a lot.

I'm afraid that it seems I've traded one problem for two other problems.

Any help, or ideas, or ways to fix these problems?

My POD X3 Live was just sitting there after I got off work and it had been working for the past few days and all of a sudden there is nothing on the screen but a full black box.

Whats the deal with this?

I saw some threads about it but I would like to know what caused since there hasn't been any firmware updates applied to it recently.

I would send it in for repair but it was purchased from Musicians Friend online by a friend.

Whats the deal? Is it a bad firmware chip? A short?

It seems I've tried everything to get a tone (created/edited in GearBox) loaded into the Line 6 Amp (in Phead's Record) and all I ever get is "Unsupported Format".

After hours of frustration and experimentation I have come to the conclusion that:

1. Record doesn't support DUAL tone patches.

2. GearBox saves single tone patches as DUAL tone patches no matter what I try.

So here's my question: In GearBox, how can I save a single tone (tone 1 for example) as a true single tone patch (file) so that I can actually use it in Record?

Just looking for a little advise. Can't decide between the 2 models. It seems like the Live (floor version) is about $100 more.

- Does the X3 have all the sames features and connections as the X3 Live. I went to the Compare products on the website and it was not clear to me?

Will be using mainly for home use with the occasional gigging. I noticed that the X3 comes with optional external foot switches and even a bracket to attach it to your mic stand. Is the X3 rugged enough to be taking out on gigs? Seems to be a lot of plastic on the desktop X3.

Hello! I`m a user of your Line6 Pod X3 Pro Guitar Recording Interface. At the moment i use Windows 7 64bit and Pod X3 Pro like soundcard. So i`ve noticed constant problem witn driver Line6 when i play video or audio in period of 2 hours there is always apeared a Blue Death Screen with an error talking about your POD X3 64bit component. It`s a rather unpleasant thing aspeacially in the middle of recording session. Pleace if you can investigate this problem it will help a lot, because i`m not the only one user with this problem.

When I'm trying to install my POD X3 on VISTA 32 the computer can't find a valid driver, altough the computer recognizes the POD when I plug him in in the USB port. (I managed to install the POD X3 on the XP operating system though) I uninstalled all the other USB audio and music devices (TASACM US114, Behringer BFC2000, Novation X-station, which installed on VISTA without any problem by the way), but that didn't make any difference. I also tried all the different versions of the VISTA driver, but the computer can't find any valid driver. who can help me?

X3 Live Wah Pedal Question

If I understood my X3 Live User Guide correctly, when I use any of the wah effects on my X3 Live, I should be able to turn the wah on and off by moving the expression pedal "hard" all the way up. This does not work. Also, I can't seem to get the full range of the effect..meaning that if I look at the screen while depressing the pedal back and forth I go from 0 to 31 but that's it.

I'm thinking perhaps I need to calibrate the pedal but I'm not sure how.

So can anyone tell me how do I turn the wah on and off and how do I set the pedal to allow for the desired "sweep"?

Ok, so I just purchased an X3 Live. It works fine when connecting it to my amp or with headphones. My problem is that when I try and use it with GarageBand as the Audio Input via USB, I get no signal. I can hear it fine with headphones connected but the input levels show nothing. I have installed all the latest software/drivers via Monkey and the device is selectable from all the system/application level places I would expect. GearBox works fine. It seems for some reason, I'm not getting sound out of the USB connection. (Yes it is connected to a USB 2.0 Port). I have tried setting the Audio Inputs/Outputs in every imaginable configuration with no luck. See screens below:

Heya folks. in 07/27/09 i bought a preowned Line6 Pod X3 Live (the floorpod) and i couldn't register that. I contacted the support which helped me out. Although now my computer crashed --> and all programs were lost i returned my pc (its a laptop with Vista Ultimate and can handle gearbox very well) but now when i installed the gearbox and line 6 monkey i can't download the drivers since line 6 monkey says it appears you have not registered your pod x3 how is that and how can i like "re-register " this??

Anyone here using the x3 with Sonar??? I've successfully used the program for some time with an M-Audio USB device, so I know my way around the program. Using the USB connection on the x3, I don't get any audio back through the headphones, and the output keeps the meters completely in the red if I even breathe on the guitar strings. I'm going to have to assume that I have a defective USB port on my X3. That being said, the amp models sound amazing using the 1/4" outputs into my M-Audio usb device, then into the computer. That alone is worth the price of the unit. But....sure would like to have the capabilities working.

I recently purchased my POD X3 Live and have been trying out Riffworks T4. I am beginning to get used to it and dont have much trouble recording and playing back when using a guitar only using 1/4" outs. My problem is:

1. When i plug my Mic into the X3 to layer vocals over my previosly created song i cannot hear anything but the vocals, no instruments/Verse, Chorus can be heard that i am trying to layer over. Does the X3 change inputs/outputs when the Mic is recognized? Also, My mic sounds good coming thru my amp when recording, but the few times i have got it to playback from riffworks it is a very low deep tone, how do i adjust the RECORDED effects before mixing?

I fully intend on purchasing riffworks but want to make sure i like it with the Free T4 version first.

Hey, guys.

I've been doing some research since I want to improve my tone - as we always do. So this is for the ones who like to rock with a 4x12 cabinet and a loud volume: which power amp do you use? Or do you use a head instead? Going through the effects loop return maybe? You get the point. Thinking you need to play LOUD without a PA.

I know there are some similar discussions but I didn't find any directed to a power amp and cabinet setup. I just want to know what you use to get your best results.

Currently I'm running my POD x3 through the power section of a Fender MH-500 head with a matching Fender MH-412 loaded with four 100watt Celestions. This amp is pretty controversial (as I have read on some other forums) but it is surely clean and with LOTS of headroom to work with.

So...what about you???

looking for advice. I have Variax 700 acoustic (but nothing else from Line 6), a Yahama APX 4A Electro Acoustic, plus a Mexican Fender Strat.

I currently use my old Boss ME-8 multi-effects pedal for the latter two guitars, though I also have a Roland GR-20 Guitar Synth which I use with the Fender.

Also have a Roland Fantom G7 Synth & have just purchased an electro-autoharp - bit of a gadget freak eh?

I have a go at playing all sorts of music including blues, rock, ballads, folk, reggae, and more recently some experiments with 'World Music'.

I'm contemplating upgrading my multi-effects pedal & it's the POD X3 Live or the Boss G-10 that interest me.

Would the POD X3 Live allow me to change the tuning on my Variax 700 acoustic?

Any sensible comments would be welcome.

I'm having a problem with my new POD X3 Live. I had a POD XT Live and I loved, so I decided to buy the Line 6 top line pedalboard. But I'm desapointed.

The software works painful. First: POD Farm doesn't work. It does not recognize my X3: "Non authorized device connected...." Second: When POD X3 become a windows audio device, the master volume (for recording and playback) does not work. Just work the "Wave" channell. There are so many other things, like, in gearbox, when you move the wah pedal, it does not refresh the actual position knob in screen, when you turn up the POD and the amp, if the amp is connected and the amp volume is set a little high, you can hear a very loud peak noise that could probabily damage the speaker. And how can the Windows sound output to the amp (as podxt) and NOT to the phone out?

Please, is that an isolated problem or more people are suffering with this too?

Someone knows how to fix all of this?

X3 Live Pod Farm Activation

I have an x3 live and Line 6 Monkey tells me that Pod farm is availible but needs to be activated. When I try activate it asks for a lisence key. When I try find a lisence key I am told that there are no lisence keys availible for the x3 live as pod farm is bundled with it. How do I activate Pod farm and riff works for that matter? when using my POD X3 with reaper as a plug-in everything works but the ASIO panel shows the driver as inactive. Anyone an idea what might be the problem? When running Reaper with POD Farm the driver should be presented as active and there should be configuration possibilities which I don't have right now. Maybe there are more userse with this problem?

Antoher question: when recording dry tone and then re-amping, how many tracks can I re-amp at one time? I understand that the POD is doing the actual processing, so I imagine that I can re-amp one track at a time with dual tone or two with single tones? Or am I missing something here?

I'm getting a POD X3 live soon and was wondering if it would sound ok plugged into a Sony Bookshelf System. It's 530 watts so it's not tiny. My current Korg effects board sounds great through my little PC speakers so I don't see how the stereo would sound worse. My questions are these:

Black Screen-Need Help!

I recently purchased a Line 6 Pod X3 from Amazon, and it was delivered yesterday. I went through the instructions and connected it to the PC in the specified way. No Problems. I was playing through it this morning when the screen went dead, then came back on just showing black pixels. I have tried unplugging and restarting, I have tried putting it into safe mode, nothing. The computer no longer recognises it, so I can't use line monkey to upgrade firmware etc, none of the controls are working, and I can't rid of this black screen!!!

I have noticed quite a few people have had this same issue on the forums, but no solutions have been posted. The console turns on instantly when i press the power, but instead of showing the Line 6 Screen I am faced with the black screen. Attatched are some photos of my Pod and Line Monkey Screen. I've had my X3 Live for a couple months, but have just recently had the time to play with it.

For the last few days my volume pedal keeps malfunctioning. One minute it is working just fine, and then it stops working.

I've tried recalibrating the pedal, but that works like a slot machine ... every so often it gets it working again.

Then after playing for a while it goes out again. It's really frustrating, especially since the pedal is brand new.

Hey guys,

So I was just posting to see if any of you more knowlegeable folk could confirm whether or not my POD 3XL is affected by the USB dropout hardware malfunction. Through searches in the support section of this site, I've found out that the big symptom is that sound from the computer ceases to be heard (already recorded tracks etc.) and that this can continue to be the case for 10m-1hr unless you disconnect the USB cable or turn off the POD.

My experience however, has been that while recoding in my DAW the sound will cut out, for about a second then return. And strangely (or maybe this is common ?) the arrow indicating which section of the track is playing continues to move, but returns to where it was when the sound cut out, once it does eventually come back. This is the only thing for me that suggests it might not be the USB dropout problem I've heard about as my DAWs seem to recognize sound was cut out.

Hopefully this is an issue I can solve myself, but I fear the worst .

Tweaking Effect Parameters With Expression Pedal (X3 Pod)

Hi, I have a X3 Pod that I got about two years ago. I've always wondered this, but haven't had the time to ask (been to busy with everything on the X3) about tweaking effects parameters with an expression pedal. For example, I would like to control the speed of the modulation on something like a phaser as I'm playing (with a foot expression pedal). Are the FBV or FBV Shortboard capable of doing this? Or do the expression pedals on those controllers only function for wah and volume?

Hi,

Currently my setup is like this:

Guitar: Fender American Stratocaster plugged into the "Guitar In" slot.

Amp: Fender Blues Junior (only has 1 jack input). This one is plugged into the "Live Out - Right" mono.

My computer setup is running Vista 64bit atm. but im having some troubles recording. I've tried RiffWorks Line 6 Edition.

It registers my sound (i can see the bars moving up and down when i play). But when i try to playback afterwards nothing comes out.

Gearbox works fine to tweak the sounds etc. So no problem there.

I've installed Line6 Monkey and PODFarm as well.

Is anyone aware of a free tool that will allow me to record my own tracks using the effects from the X3 Live and tell me how i should set it up.

Pod X3 display has gone blank

After a period of months not using my X3, I tried it today and 2 strange things occured:

(1) the unit did not work at all with the Line6 power supply;

(2) when I tried it with another compatible power supply, it powered up but the display was blank (i.e. just a lit orange box, no words)

Reading a few other posts I am not the first person to have this problem, but I can't see that anyones fixed it? I have tried booting in safe mode and resetting to factory settings, but the unit does not seem to be accepting commands

Help please!

Dear Line 6,

I bought the POD X3 Live, I play the bass and I preferred it to the Bass POD xt live because the HW seem to be powerful and with more features, algorithm can be processed with a better quality from a powerful processor, USB2 more memory etc. balanced output for mixer etc... means more quality sounds.

I use the X3live mainly for live performance and sometime for recording, so I hope, I made the best buying for my need, especially if I compare it to bass pod xt live.

I have some questions and feedback.

Questions:

Model pack, I’d like to add more bass amp-cabs in my X3 live; in the comparison chart, you advertise in the web, seem to be included. In Monkey I installed the bass model… I have the green circle that show that the models are installed. When I try to see them with Gear box I see in my pod X3 live only the default bass model (28 amp + 22 cab etc) so do you confirm comparison chart where the X3 live already contain models? If yes how I can add them to the X3Live? In case may you help me on that? Exist another way to check all model installed on pod X3 live?
Translate tone from Bass pod xt live to Pod X3 live A friend of mine use some nice tone on his Bass POD xt live, I tried to import them to my X3 live, but seems not compatible. Exist a way to do that? If not why do not make software that translate bass pod xt live tone to thepod X3 live? It could be useful to expand the pod X3 live in the market also for bassist people.

Feedback:

Advertise better Pod X3 live for bass users Create more info and demo for all bass people that could use X3 live, at beginning all people I ask suggestion said that the pod X3 live is for guitar and not good for bass. I think you should advertise that this is not true, I think the Pod X3 live is an powerful hardware… and should be the best choice also for the bass people. But you do not advertise well this part and exist few information for my point of view sometime are the difficulties to found.
More default tone for the main instrumet you use Made a choose in the Pod X3 live, at beginning during the first startup, you can decide what is the main instrumet you will use to get a default rich bigger number of presets tone suited for your instrument. this give a bigger number of standard tones for your main instrument.

Hi there, this might be long-winded but here goes:

I purchased a Pod x3 a couple of weeks ago and think it sounds awesome. However, the headphone output is extremely noisy when using my Sony MDR-7506 headphones. After searching previous threads it seems the problem is that the Sony headphones impedance (63 ohms) doesn't match the impedance of the Pod x3. I live in New Zealand and it is proving extremely difficult to find a set of headphones with an impedance of between 150-600 ohms as suggested by Line 6 elsewhere on this site as being an appropriate headphone impedance to use with the pod x3. Consequently, due to ear fatigue from the noisy headphone mix, the Pod x3 has gone back in it's box. Very sad.

I would like to be able to continue to use Pod Farm (Platinum), and am wondering if I can change the authorized device to an ilok, or because I didn't buy Pod Farm (as it 'came with' with the Pod x3) can I only use Pod Farm if the Pod x3 is connected??

So I apologize profusely if this question has been answered and re-answered...

I have never recorded anything in my life.

I bought the POD X3 Live a year or two ago when I began taking up guitar. Just on the recommendation of a friend.

Now, I'm interested in recording through my POD. However, I have absolutely no idea where to begin...

I have a MacBook, which (of course) comes with Garage Band. But, that's it. Nothing else.

My question(s):

How do I record? What will I need?

I recently purchesed a POD X3 Pro that I have set up as the interface to Cubase 5. It works OK as an interface. My question is, can I get near-zero latency with it set up this way - - - does it have ToneDirect monitoring capabilities like the UX2 has??? Does it work as well, as an interface, as the UX2 ??? The manual for the POD X3 doesn't talk much about using it with a DAW, even though the sales pitch emphasizes that it is great for recording straight into a DAW via USB. Is there any information available for maximizing performance when used this way? Thanks in advance for any help!!!

X3 Live Dual Tone drop out when changing between patches.HELP!

I use dual tones with my hybrid all the time, but recently when I change patches 1 of the 2 tones will drop out and the only way I can bring it back is to turn the unit off and then on again. Very frustrating when in the middle of the show.

I have the latest firmware, it was doing this before I updated the firmware, intermittently, since updating the firmware it has become worse... Please help somebody....

I understand that the X3 Live will send program changes based on changing patches. Has anyone found a creative way to map that to program changes in other devices? My ultimate goal is to select patch 3 on the X3 Live and have it send Prog Change 44 to my Keyboard Module? Involving a computer onstage is not my first choice.

Hi all,

I was able to install your most recent driver package on my Windows7 x64 machine with great success, however the Line6 Monkey and POD Farm applications can't recognize my PODx3 Live.

Since Windows 7 x64 uses signed drivers just as Windows Vista x64, I have to assume that there is a nuance of Windows 7 that is breaking the app.

I'd love to download all the applicable software so I can start programming my models using my pc. I know that the most obvious answer is to install Windows Vista or Windows XP to run these processes, but I would LOVE to see support for Win 7.

Ok so I have pod x3 live hooked up to my Line 6 Spider III 75 watt amp w/ guitar...I want to start doing vocals and guitar at the same time...so should I get a PA system or something that I can plug a guitar and a mic (via xlr cable) into since it would be easier to not carry a guitar amp and a PA system...I would appreciate if someone would give me a list of options that are convenient and maybe some non-expensive products that would work for my problem. I plan on just practicing in a band, playing in small venues, I play rock/metal. Thanks

Trying to acoustic record via USB into Sonar. Want to record the Stereo Mix on one track and the Dry Tone 1&2 on another track.

I can't seem to get the X3 output volume via USB correct. Either I get very little signal on the Dry track or totally pin the Stereo Mix track to get a decent dry signal. I like the output setting on the patch I am using for the Stereo Mix and don't want to change them if possible. Any workarounds?

i'm having trouble setting up my gear, i'm trying to connect my pod x3 live to my spider III amp, duh just plug in the cables and jam.. but my question is about equalizing the amp and the pedal for good sound, there is no such thing as normal sound in the spider III all of the sounds have effects on them, they are pre equalized, but what if i want to plug my pedal board on it what should i do? how should i do it and what not to do, and my pedal board makes noises, static like noises, for example it buzzes and when i touch the pedal (the metal part) with my skin the sounds stops i take my hand of and it starts to make noises again, not all the time but it happens and for what i know so far, i think its kind of reteorical (messed up equalization). please help me! if you dont mind emailing me at estebanferreira@hotmail.com, i would love some help!

i almost got a pod x3 live (sorry i meant the x3 live) last year but some reviews online made me hesitate and so i want to clear some doubts i have.

firstly,can i plug in my electric guitar and get a acoustic guitar sound while playing at a live gig? and if yes ,is the preset already included or a additional purchase is needed?

secondly, is the x3's built quality good? it looks rugged but i read somewhere that it can be a little flimsy especially when played live

and lastly, is it easy to save presets and handle the programming or making use of all the features for the product for a quite tech savy com user?

Problema con POD X3 Pro

Hola a todos. Tengo un problema con mi POD X3 Pro (rack), lo estoy usando como procesador de efectos para bajo conectado a un amplificador Fender de 100 watts, de entrada el volumen que da el POD conectado al amplificador es muy tenue ya que el bajo conectado directamente al amplificador tiene mucho mas volumen. El detalle es el siguiente, al cabo de un minuto el POD deja de enviar audio al amplificador pero no se apaga, al parecer se bloquean los outputs, estoy conectando la salidas de 1/4 también he conectado las salidas balanceadas pero tiene el mismo comportamiento. No siempre sucede esto ya que en un amplificador de 30 watts funciona correctamente, tal ves la única diferencia es que en el caso del ampliicador de 30 watts el POD esta conectado a una toma de corriente de 3 pines (con tierra). Quisiera saber si alguien le ha pasado lo mismo, o si estoy configurando mal el POD, o es un problema del hardware para llevarlo a garantia.

Como referencia este es el equipo que estoy usando:

Bajo con pastillas activas, POD X3 Pro (Efectos para bajo) conectado a un amplificador Fender de 100 watts, el volumen del POD esta casi al tope ya que no entrega mucho volumen.

Translating my xt Live tones to my new x3 Live?

I have had my x3 Live for about six months now and I am finding it hard to translate some of the tones that I built in my xt Live over to the new unit. Many of the models seem to have a much more bass and sometimes much more gain than in the old unit. For example, in my old unit, I was able to build a tone around the Solo 100 model that pretty well approximates the clean tone that I can pull out of my Soldano Astroverb set with a lower preamp. On the x3, using the same model, even with the drive set around 5%, the level of gain produces distortion that make it difficult to replicate one of my favorite clean tones. Another example: In order to use the model of the JTM 45, I almost have to run the bass control near zero to keep the sound from getting muddy when I use one of my guitars with humbuckers. Most of my guitars have medium to high gain humbuckers in the bridge position like the DiMarzio Breed, Super Distortion, PAF Pro, Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates (not Plus) and PRS McCarty Archtop (probably the lowest output).

Maybe I need to experiment with other models and re-think my conceptions, or go back and trade in the x3 for another xt.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Sound cut off when using X3 Live connected by USB

i'm connecting my line6 POD X3 Live by USB on a laptop with Windows Vista, i've installed all the updates that were needed (except GearBox) and many times the sound is cut off, per example, when i'm doing a drumtrack (acoustica beatcraft) the sound often cuts off, leaving only the sound of my guitar, i have to turn off and on the x3 to get the sound back, but it just cuts off again and again...

Hi,

I purchased POD X3 yesterday (used). I registered it at your site and then downloaded Line 6 Monkey in order to download the drivers and POD Farm.

When running Line 6 Monkey I was told that my product had not been registered yet. So I used the link to your site to check, nothing wrong, product is registered. I even registered a second time, after removing the first one. But Line 6 Monkey keeps telling me that my product has not been registered.

Yesterday I clicked "remind me later" and went on downloading the software. After that, the audio and midi utility kept telling me that there is no active ASIO driver.

Is that due to the fact that the registration didn't go right, or is there another problem? POD Farm doesn't seem to communicate with the device, although when using it as a plugin in Reaper, i could sounds. But the controls don't interact. POD Farm, when on itself with the POD gives no opportunity to select the POD X3 as device. It also doesn't interact with the controls of the POD. The version of the software in the POD is only recognized by Line 6 Monkey after updating, as long as the computer is not turned off and on again.

I've searched the database but couldn't find the solution to my problem. I've included a summary of the hardware of my computer. What's not in there is that there is a Terratec EWX 24/96 on board as well.

I hope I've given you enough information to give you an idea of what's going on.

POD X3 volume knobs not working

I just purchased an X3 (not "Live") on eBay, and I noticed a problem right out of the box. I plugged in a guitar and headphones as soon as I unpacked the unit, and the volume knobs apear to be dead. Tone-wise it sounds fine, but I tried to turn down the Master Volume to make it listenable, and no change whatsoever. Tone Volume seems dead as well. Okay, I'll admit that I haven't worked with this X3 unit long enough to have the hang of it yet (it's certainly more complex than my old POD Pro), but from what I can tell the TONE VOLUME knob and MASTER VOLUME knob are both simply not functioning at all. The unit appears to be stuck at max volume on each, and turning either knob has no affect at all on the volume. Upon further review, it is the same whether I'm using headphones or if I'm using the 1/4" out(s) to go to a mixing console, and nothing I do seems to fix this. I don't see anything in the manual, the FAQ's, or user forums about this problem. I have installed Line 6 Monkey on my computer and updated everything that I can find to update (firmware, etc.). No change. Like I said, I'm not very familiar with the unit yet, but I would think that plugging in a guitar and headphones, dialing up a preset, and adjusting the Master Volume knob would be all you would need to do to at least get rolling with the unit, but when I do that the unit appears to be operating at maximum volume through the headphones, and the volume controls have no affect. Same with plugging direct to a mixer, although I can obviously control the POD volume with the mixer channel slider(s). I've owned both an original POD as well as a POD pro (which I still own and love), and plugging in a guitar and headphones and selecing a preset is all it takes to start rocking with those (and the Master Volume works appropriately). The X3 appears to be functioning normally otherwise (it sounds great and seems to work correctly other than being too loud with phones), but those volume knobs appear to be dead. Considering that one main reason I purchased this unit was to have a nice, compact practice amp to use with headphones (with the other primary reason being recording), having the volume control working properly for taming the phones is a big deal. Any ideas for rectifying this? Am I doing something wrong? Like I said I've done every factory reset and update that I can find to do, and I've tried to find a setting on the unit that might be the culprit, but nothing I do helps. Is the unit stuck in some certain mode that I'm not familiar with that I just need to change? Hopefully that's the case and I just haven't found it yet. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Hi guys,

Just bought my pod x3 live 2 days ago and only manage to test it yesterday. I thought when I installed Line 6 Monkey and Gearbox software, it will be just a straightforward drag and drop operation or opening the tones, but I was in for surprise. Updated all my software and drivers, but I still can't open all those tones I have downloaded. When my Gearbox software opened for the first time, an error message came up saying "Tone transfer failed, reason code 8000900C, Midi device timed out waiting for response". Also, it doesn't recognize an .x3m files when I'm trying to open the tones I've downloaded. Can anyone help me to setup this up properly coz I've been trying to sort this out for the last 48 hours and still no clear solution. By the way, I've tried to reinstall it again and same outcome. X3 Live volume pedal problem SOLVED!

Hi all,

I'm a new X3 Live user (switched over from the Boss GT-8 about 2 months ago) and a new forum member. I sought out solutions to my volume pedal problem, which was as follows. When I rocked the pedal back to 0%, the volume dropped out as expected. However, when I removed my foot from the pedal, the volume would jump up to 30 or 40%. When I approached the pedal with my foot, getting within an inch or so, the volume dropped again. I entertained my bandmates with this cool trick, but it was getting to be a nuisance. My unit is used, so I didn't hesistate to crack it open to look for solder joint problems, but everything looked great. I touched up a few joints, but no improvement. I came out here looking for advice and found this thread:

I went back to mine and noticed the foam tube around the stem of the volume pedal was sitting about 1/4" above the surface of the box, shoved up against the pedal. After realizing that the volume pedal works off of an IR LED/Phototransistor circuit, I figured that foam tube was there to shield the circuit from ambient light. So last night, as a test, I went into calibration mode, took a flashlight and shined it around the foam tube area and sure enough the reading went from 0 up to around 15-20, just like before. Then I cracked it open again, pulled the foam tube down through the hole of the box so it now rests on the surface of the PC board surrounding the LED circuit, and it works fine! I assume that's where it should be. What a relief, since I was about to bring it down to a service center today ($$$).

BTW, it appears the volume circuit uses an Optek OP280 and OP580 (www.optekinc.com) pair in case anyone ever needs to replace these parts. I suppose you'd have to contact Optek to find out exactly which version of these since they are not marked (but they are yellow-ish if that helps) and there are several different versions available.

I hope someone finds this helpful.

its a killer and very comfortable to use.

but still i bought mesa boogie dual rectifier amp and i want to connect the pod xt live in loop,i try to do it but still i have problems,the WAH WAH effect sound strange,and every time i move from bank to bank i hear this smack of volume and i cant work it out...off course all the channels are in bypass - only effects are on.

how can you connect pod xt live to amp in the best way?

Delay disappear when changing sound

I'm using the POD X3 live.

When changing from my solo sound (with delay) to my rythm sound (without delay) the delay is cut off instead of fading out smoothly. The delay is set to "post", but still it happens.

I thought this was a problem of the past, as on old effectprocessors. Is there some setting I've missed out?

Hi all! I would like to thank you all in advance for all your time and concern. I have received POD farm when I purchased my POD X3 live and I am a little confused about how to use it and even what POD farm is used for.

I have installed and successfully activated the POD farm software. Software tells me that there are not any devices connected even though POD X3 live is connected. Am I not supposed to use them together?

IF not why are they giving it free with POD X3 live? I would really appreciate it if someone could help me with my confusion.

Im still not quite satisfied with the tone as my pod keeps killing my spider's tone

even after output changes, EQ changes etc. . . .

However. . . .

I have had an idea. . .

What if. . . .

the spider 3 is set up as usual, however on the floor is a Boss line selecter. In line A, there is a bypass, and on line B, the pod is running in the line selecters loop, so when line B is kicked in, the effects should kick in too any undesired noise or frequencies would be covered by the effects anyways (because of the effects i use) and when not needed, the bypass sound in line A is not coloured by the pod

and when recording, all that needs to be done is remove the pod, and take it to the computer to use.

This is theoretical of course, I have no idea if this will work, however, if anyone else has tried this, or if Line 6 know if this is a good solution (dont wory, i am not endorsing Boss, i am a loyal line 6 fan - use line 6 for pretty much everything) then can anyone let me know.

or if anyone has other ideas for different ways of connecting, then post either on this thread, or thread 1 (in link above)

I have a Toneport UX-2 (previously puchased) and two POD X3 Lives which I'm using on a show. The Toneport was purchased first and I downloaded Gearbox (stand alone?) and Pod Farm (stand alone?) to use with it and everything seemed fine. Then I got the Pod X3s but I'm using the same software as before. I'm using the Tones I created previously in Pod Farm and downloading them to the Pod X3s. I'm still using the Toneport at home to create and edit sounds but I don't use the Toneport at the studio (obviously that's one of the reasons to use the Pod). I take my Mac to the studio and connect it to run the Pods. Pod Farm (I guess you call it a "stand alone?") doesn't talk to the Pods. Gearbox doesn't allow Dual tones when I'm not connected to the Pods. So do I have to use Pod Farm to play Dual sounds when I'm not using the Pods? When the Mac is connected to the Pods, Gearbox opens with a different type of window and now I can edit Dual tones. Why are there two different versions of Gearbox opening? . So what software should I be using? The forums mention a "plug in." What's a "plug in"? I also want to download Dual Tones from the website when I'm using the Toneport and disconnected from the Pods. I also want to use the player while I'm playing the Dual Tones. When I'm disconnected from the Pods, I can't use Dual Tones with Gearbox and I can't access the website using Pod Farm. I'm sure there's a way to do all of this. I'd like to use one piece of software to hook up to the Pods, use with the Toneport and connect to the internet and the player. How do I do this?

Can i control pod farm vst with my x3 live? what i want to do is record my guitar dry with a spdif connection from x3 live thru a tascam fw1082 (it has lower latency than the x3 and multi inputs) but monitor my effected sound while recording. Obviously i can do this by clicking the monitor on my audio channel in cubase. So far so good... however i would like to be able to use the x3 live foot controller to toggle effects and use expression pedal for wah etc in pod farm vst. Previous to buying x3 live, i was able to record my guitar dry but use gr3 plugin for monitoring effect whilst recording. I also have a m-audio expression pedal that i could assign via midi to control my wah etc but was never able to turn effects on or off like this. Basically i was hoping the x3 live and pod farm vst would be a much more sofisticated way of configuring my previously very crude guitar recording setup! I have already found that connecting the midi out from my x3 live, i can control effects in gr3 via midi learn, but so far have not been able to control anything in pod farm vst!! am i missing something or is this not possible? I've tried with both the usb connection and midi connection.

My rig if it's important, is a shuttle sx48p2 deluxe, intel quad 3gz processor, 8gb ram, 2 x tb hd's, tascam fw 1082, m-audio axiom49, windows 7 64bit, Cubase 5, Komplete 5 and of course my new x3 live.

i'm a linux user and i have pod x3 live. Everything goes ok, but i still have a request.

As everyone can imagine from the subject, i'm searching for linux driver.

with great regret I found that Line6 has not yet developed a driver for linux. Why?

There are a lot of line6 user that have linux on their pc (for example, all of musicians of my band).

In the future, there will be the development of linux driver?

i don't want to discuss here why i don't wanna use windows or mac. i use only linux and stop.

for me and my fellow band is quite stressful to keep a virtual machine with win xp to update the pod firmware and use programs such as gearbox.

I hope the Line6 remember how many users use linux to play and record (i took a look in the forum and i noticed that i'm not the only one who is asking for linux driver)

Trouble getting POD Farm to detect x3 Live

I purchased an x3 live today and have spent the past few hours trying to get it connected to my computer via usb. I have scoured the site as best I could and none of the solutions I have found have worked.

The problem is that when I start up POD Farm, I get a message titled "No Hardware Found" that tells me "No compatible Line 6 USB devices have been detected" and asks me if I want to run POD Farm as if a device was connected. However, I am certain that my x3 is connected and working alright since my computer will play audio through it and Windows recognizes it when I plug it in.

I have tried reinstalling POD Farm multiple times, and during installation I said to install all the Line 6 drivers just in case. Line 6 Monkey is working fine as far as I can tell. I can't tell whether or not POD Farm is registered or activated or what, but I suppose it needs to be for me to get this far. I don't really understand the way Monkey works with activation and what not...but it doesn't look like that's the problem, I don't know. I do know that I have tried every USB port on my computer, they are all 2.0 and none are hubs. The x3 works fine by itself. I have no idea what to do.

I just bought the POD X3 Live, installed everything including the online POD farm plug-in but when I go to the stand alone POD Farm plug-in, it states that no Line 6 device is connected and when POD Farm opens as it does anyway, I go to preferences and "hardware" to try and select POD X3 Live, there is none listed. Seemingly everything else but not X3 Live. Obviously POD Farm is supposed to work with X3 Live as it states so really big on the front of the box. I've activated it and everything too. I did have the UX2 installed with POD Farm on the same PC but I gave it to a friend and unregistered it from my account. I even deinstalled that version of POD farm. I just don't get it. Any help would be great.

Hello,

I am having a problem properly setting up my Pod X3.

I am able to get a good sound with the pod when I have the monitors plugged directly to the pod. However, when it comes time to record, and the monitors are going into the Mbox2 (Pod and Mbox2 connected by a spdif) it is as if someone turned on the "crappy" button. Sounds like the monitors have a blanket over them.

I am recording to a stereo track in PT.

Why would it sound great before I go through the Mbox?

Volume pedal no longer working

I turned my pod x3 live on today and I don't get any sound.

When I push the volume pedal to switch the wah on, the volume is then at 100% with the wah on, but the wah does not chage.

I have tried the calibration procedure, but nothing helps.

When I first select pedal cal, the duty cycle says 0 and does not change when I move the pedal.

When I press A, the duty cyle then says 100, and does not change if I move the pedal.

When I press B, the duty cyle then says 100, and does not change if I move the pedal.

When I press C, the duty cyle then says 100, and does not change if I move the pedal, Scaled pedal value stays at 0.

I have also updated to the latest firmware v1.21. I have also tried resetting all factory settings, yet nothing helps.

What's the deal. I have owned many Line6 products and until now have not had any problem.

I purchased this pedal in April 2009, Is this something that needs to be fixed?

Its been in the shop for almost 2 months for the "USB AUDIO DROPOUT" issue. I called yestereday to get a hint as to where they are. Service man is so far behind that he just looked at it fairly recently, altho I was warned that he was working on quite the delay basis. He has the parts on order and I should "...have it back in a week and a half." I'm having trouble holding my breath for that long! Can hardly wait to get it back.

Pod Farm Freezes in Cubase SX 3 (POD X3 Live)

Hey Guys,

Pod is working in Cubase and doesn't freeze all together, but I intermittently can't seem to access the settings. Page starts to open but controls are frozen, or a blank framed page appears.

XP sp3 (no apps running in backround incl. anti-virus, modem, and wireless controller)

CPU not overloaded, small project.

7 instances of POD Farm open as inserts, but have shut off all but one.

Monkey says everything is fine.

Tried turning off and back on again.

USB connected direct (no hub)

X3 EQ TIPS WHEN CONNECTED TO AMP

Hi, i,ve been reading lots of threads about how eq with x3. I use mine using the 4CM with a marshall jcm combo (1x12) on combo power amp output mode. For the moment i'm getting nice cleans and subtle crunch sounds using my amp's preamp or x3 amp models or combining them. But for some reason all the patches i use for solo and heavy rhythm when recording are useless when playing live no matter how much i try to change the eq. Theyre almost all dual amp tones.

these high gain patches sounds boomy, fizzy, shrill, ear piercing, and like is some kind of blanket aver my amps speaker......cleans are crispier and nice.

I'm not a eq guru (FARRR from that) so please be nice and explain me how could i remedy this, what are the general rules of equing when going into a power amp section.

Hi all! Im seriously considering of purchasing the new pod x3 pro. I'm currently a happy pod xt bean user for over 5 years and I've conducted a small google research for x3 pro opinions and i came up with some weird arguments from people claiming that their pod xt sounds a lot more better than the pod x3 pro. I just need to know a few things.

Does pod x3 pro and pod xt (bean) use the same technology?
Will my pod xt presets sound better or worse on the pod x3 pro. If yes why?
Soundwise is there any essential difference on same amps featured on pod xt and pod x3 pro?
Will my pod x3 pro be able to route differently the 2 inputs? Meaning a guitar with different presets and a bass with different presets as well

and gettin the output for each instrument having their different own sound? Same way as you get sound through a mixer.

Do you really think pod x3 pro is a good upgrade to pod xt overall?
Will all the pod xt patches uploaded on the line 6 server from users sound worst on the pod x3 pro?
Does the pod x3 pro includes all model packs and the line 6 farm platinum plug-in?

I have the Pod X3 Live that I am using with my Fender FM 212. I am wondering what is the best method of use for getting the best tone results fro the X3?

For example I have the X3 going into the amp through the regular guitar input with the amp set to clean and Bass, Mid and Treble all set at 50% more or less. The output from the X3 is set to "Combo Power Amp"

Is this correct for getting the best tone?

Also, any recommendations on what the best amp would be use....is a tube amp really going to give better tone?

Line 6 - Time for a Solution for the USB Audio Dropout

This may come off as a rant. It is not meant to be, although it does allow some venting. First, let me say I think Line 6 is a very good company to deal with based on prior treatment with an XTL problem in which they were more than reasonable. Second, I love the X3L and all its capabilities and especially the tones. I love POD farm and Guitarport Online (when I can use it) and I am beggining to like the new forum although the learning curve was abit steep at first, and I love the community of users of Line 6 products. These things make Line 6 a cutting edge company. Now, the problem. Many of us have been patiently waiting for a resolution to the USB audio drop-out problem for over a year. It is time to admit that this is a hardware issue and make arrangements for an orderly repair, or, give us a projected date when a firmware fix will fix the issue. Yes, I know you will be crucified if you are a week late. But, Line 6 has had quite a long time without a deadline pressure to resolve this issue, without result, yet many new products have been introduced since this issue was known. Workarounds that involve purchasing additional hardware is unacceptable and does not work for everyone of us. Many of the first X3L purchasers were(are) repeat customers, having owned the XTL and other Line 6 products. It is time for Line 6 to make this the ONLY priority in the company. The affected customers do not want this to become another Vetta II where fixes were promised then dismissed as not cost effective (after 2 years). If there is no viable fix, then be prepared to offer refunds as a stand-up thing to do. We customers may surprise you and buy other of your products with the refund. To do what has been done for over a year cannot continue. It makes Line 6 look like they don't care, right or wrong. Please issue your own fix it date, recall date(s), or admit defeat and offer refunds. Again, I think we all want to keep the unit, but, it has to work with USB. Sorry for the Rant.

Not so happy with my Atomic Reactor... what's wrong?

I have my 212-50 now, but I'm not too happy with it. I don't know, the X3 sounds just so much more articulate trough headphones. Trough the Atomic it sounds, "muffled", also maybe too compressed if that's the right word for it. It' like listening to something that has been recorded with a too low sample-rate, like parts of the tone are missing. No problem with my sennheiser headphones.

Maybe I'm overlooking something, an option switched off that really needs to be on in a situation like this, or something like that.

I have a manual here for biasing atomics, which I'm planning to do. (I remember an old thread where user Ustrat71 said that his was biased way too cold and fixing that made quite a difference, sent him a pm but no response, too bad )

So, I'd really to hear you Atmomic users out there before I upon the atomic up. I read quite a lot of times that this is really the best thing to amplify besides a good pa, so something is off here. Hope you guys can help me out here. Thanks.

Pod X3 Live - Variax VDI input, but clipping

Recently bought a new Pod X3 Live and have been using a Variax 300 through a Fender Twin for years. I've also got a Roland KC 550 to go with the X3 Live for when I play live.

I thought I start by setting up my real current rig virtually, using the X3, Variax and Roland. Basically, we're talking a clean tone through the the Fender Twin, wah pedal and a compressor.

I set everything using a strat sound, Twin amp sim, blackface cab sim, wah and compressor. Then I hit something I don't understand:

Using the amp on its own I get no clipping, if I add the wah, at high frequencies the clip light lights up. Same if I change the guitar model to a "tinnier" guitar. I thought the clip light just showed when your input level clipped. Is that not right? In that case it must be the wah boosting the gain of my sound that makes things clip. But I can't reduce the volume on the wah sim to sort this out, there's no setting, I can only drop the input level to the wah sim. Surely this would then result in loss of tone as my input level gets lowered more and more as I add a compressor, say, and I have to compensate for gain again.

Am I doing something wrong here?

I'm a huge fan of the POD hardware so I went and bought a Pod X3 Pro and a Variax 700 guitar.

What I'm trying to figure out is how to get a direct dry signal with these 2 products into cubase since im recording and want to add the effects later. The variax has all these crazy tones but I just want a dry signal without reverb and delay and all the other effects it offers. how do I do this?

My end result is that I'm trying to get a good punk rock tone right now, I found a guitar magazine from 2001 that would tell you how to get a similar tone

to songs from bands. The one I chose is Blink 182's "The Rock Show" and here's the tone settings

Amp Model: Brit Classic

Drive:7.5

Bass: 4.5

Middle:10

Ch. Volume 6.5

Reverb: N/A

Effect tweak: N/A

Effect: N/A

Notes bridge p/u. HB

So Do I apply these settings to the stomp or the amp on the POD X3 Pro? and which tone setting on the Variax?

on the old forum, someone mentioned a trick for doing this. It worked great for me, but i had to reformat and install the latest build of 7, and now i cant find that solution any longer. It had to do with compatiblity modes i think.

X3 live Sounds bad? help

I just got the x3live yesterday and have been playing arround with it for a while now, I watch the videos on the internet and watches countelss people with pods make incredable sounds that sound like their coming from a tube amp. Some of them even sound so close to the original band that id swear I was listening to the cd, but you can tell because they have messups. But I got mine hooked up and even with the preprogramed tones it sounds like a small solidstate amp is playing. or like I have a box or pillow over my speakers. I appolagize for my spelling and descriptions its so hard to describe a sound but. I have the X3 hooked up to my computer. I am using the headphone jack out to the (blue) stereo input on my soundcard. I have sound it sounds ok I guess buy nothing like the sounds on the internet. Or like everyone says that these are suppose to sound like. I am playing through a Schector hellraiser and it has emg pickups. So I doubt its from that. I turned down the bass to about 10% and by doing that it helped with the speakers sounding like they were going to explode. My computer speakers are not studio speakers but their decent. Their like 150$ logitech speakers. I even hooked it into the aux input to my living room stereo and it sounds the same. I have much better speakers on my stereo. So Im thinking im doing somehting wrong with the x3? maybe I have a bad unit?? Please help.

I have used a POD xt LIVE in studio, loved it, awesome, bought 3 pods and 2 variaxs already, bigups line6, we are not worthy etc.

Recording in ABLETON LIVE every day.

Many of the guitar tracks were recorded dry and have GEARBOX or PODFARM as a VST for the tone.

Now have upgraded from POD xt LIVE to POD X3 LIVE and the xt LIVE is offsite getting serviced.

Now that we have plugged in the X3 and registered it and so on, the GEARBOX vst in ABLETON on those tracks we recorded last week or whenever with the old setup is it is behaving like there is no pod attached and all the guitars sound kinda naked, like it is not recognising the X3.

"HELP"

Has anybody else been through this?

Now my problem is I have dual tone set up on gearbox and everything but my pod isnt playing the second tone...all the pod presets likemr. sparkle and mr. sparkle fx on tone 2 for example the tone 1 works but tone 2 isnt ..i highlight the tone 1 and tone 2 both setting on gearbox and press save on my pod..then something weird happens all the double arrows acknowledging both tones erase off and only tone 1 arrow is still on on the gearbox screne so i go back again and highlight both and repeat the steps but even when tone 1 and 2 arrows are showing when i switch off to use tone 2 its not there also im no longer able to morph both tones to create something . i'm messing up somewhere and i dont know where...i will and must admit i really dig my pod x3 live (this comin from a guy who played a m jcm lead 800 with a distortion/clean pedal and that was it, never used effects) but when it comes to gettin help from the company where is ther phone number man? I know everyone on here is way more knowlegable than me in this stuff but c'mon you blow $500.00 bucks for a pod and some dude in australia wants me to buy a tutorial tape for 40.00 bucks just to figure out this thing...youd think it would come with it for us retards that cant read the manual and figure the $%^T out.If anyone can help i would greatly appreciate it..maybe we could shoot emails back and forth to one another to get me on track if there is someone out there willing to take the time ..i know im asking for alot but this seems to be the only avenue of figuring things out type venue i have seemed to been able to find...unless someone has a direct tele to line 6 so i can pick there brains....peace out keep on keepin on! thanks in advance!

Hello list,

yesterday, while I was recording, after 20 o 30 minutes my pod x3 live stopped recording and playing any audio.

I have to turn on and off the unit in order to make it work again.

I'm using Logic Pro 8 on the last version of 10.5 (can't remember which one is it now).

Fortunately, Logic Pro 8 is very stable, and doesn't care about if your soundcard is switching off, so I can do this even without restarting it.

At the same time, Pod Farm doesn't seems that stable, and sometimes causes the app to crash abruptely. When it doesn't crash, it removes every amp simulation for each instance of podfarm in any track (only the amp sim, very bizzare).

Now some question:

1) Is this the famous Pod X3 Live USB Audio dropout issue? (what a long name )

2) How can I make the hardware fix where I live, in Italy? (Ma porca...)

3) Are there any patch to fix the strange behaviour of Pod Farm?

Hi all, this is my 1st posting so i'd like to say hi to everybody. I have just bought a podx3 and am over the moon with it. The things you seem to be able to do with this seem endless. My problem is, I am 50 years old, and am absolutely useless when it comes to linking things together. I need to know how to connect my guitar, x3, computer and powered speakers together so I can hear the sound of what I want to record and how to connect to record via the computer. Also , do I need to purchase anything else in order to achieve this. Any help you could give would be appreciated.

Hi everyone, I just bought my Pod X3 Pro last week, and I have encounter this serious problem, wonder anyone else having the same problem.

I bought it on Day 1, everything works fine, used for 2 days, then Day 3, it just couldn't power up, looked like some fuse problem, so I sent back to the shop i bought from, they exchanged a new unit to me.

So this 2nd unit works fine for 1 week, and now the same problem again, it couldn't power up again!!

I am going to send this unit back to the shop again, they said they are going to exchange 1 to 1 to me again.

But the problem is, I already lack of confidence to this product, can any Line6 tech can tell me what happen? Is it just there is a batch that having this problem? Or something else? And who else got the same problem as I do?

I bought an X3L one year ago. Since then, I became a vocal critic of company policies.

On many threads, I’ve already expressed, explicitly and implicitly, the desire to change my current processor for a FRACTAL.

I’ve been searching a lot in the last months.

However, almost all the videos on You Tube show the FRACTAL with some valve gear (Atomic Amp, VHT or something like that).

By the way, there’s no videos (or even samples on the FRACTAL’s page) with the sounds of the simulations themselves: there are always backing tracks, a lot of harmonizers or many other effects.

I finally got a video with just the amp simulation and a little bit of reverb.

There’s a recent video, demonstrating the new FRACTAL’s editor software.

There’s a very recent amp simulation, with new algoritms from the ‘7.something.’ firmware’s version.

There’s no valve to push the harmonics.

Although the number of parameters and the chains flexibility of FRACTAL impressed me a lot, as well as the video got the maximum score, frankly, I found the quality of the simulation itself much weaker than the X3L’s crunch tones.

Now I can understand why some of us “hate” and love Line 6 at the same time!

However – do most of you guys do that, or do you use a higher quality interface such as an Apogee Duet (and connect the X3 to the Duet via ¼” cables)? Recently I had my X3Live repaired due to the lightbar failing. POD was fixed at a Line 6 approved shop.

I restored all of my patches but I seem to notice that ESPECIALLY playing in Studio/Direct mode to record that it is quite awful sounding

on any of the more aggressive sounding patches. I am recording via the two XLR outputs in Studio Direct mode to two separate mono channels.

I am using new cabling. I have tried with different guitars. If I turn the gain down on the recorder I don't get enough signal. Even via headphones directly plugged into the X3Live it sounds poor. I've tried the guitar pad and switching the Ground/Lift (although I'm not using the 1/4" outs).

I've noticed the sound is not as good playing Front of Stack mode into my amplifier as it once was. I was attributing this to having my guitar repaired as well but now of a mind that the POD is the problem due to a/b testing with a different guitar and listening through headphones.

hi i have a 5150 that i have been using as a power amp for the last two years , i was using a regular cable 1/4 inch i believe, today what i did was i connected the direct out of my x3 live to my amp in the effects loop and wow the sound is crispy, clear, excellent what i was looking for, but i cant control the volume, i want to know if is ok to do this type of connection and if it is how can i control de volume for some reason it seem to bypass the volume control from my pod

Hi I'm a Line6 pod X3 Live owner from Serbia. I bought my unit in Belgrade a month ago and I have already had time to use it extensively when performing both with my electric guitar and bass guitar. I am tremendously satisfied with this product in every aspect. I would like to know if there is another way of solving the usb audio dropout problem, because there are no certified Line 6 services in my country, and I would really like to use my pod X3 live as an audio card. Right now I am able to use it for about one minute for playback, and slightly more for recording before it 'drops out'.

Sorry, my knowledge of MIDI is pretty limited - before I go ploughing through the MIDI implementation manuals, I'd be grateful if someone could answer the following question:

I've got a MicroKorg XL synth, which unfortunately doesn't have a tap-tempo function. When we're playing live, I'd like to be able to set the tempo of the synth just by tapping along with my foot (as I do with my X3 Live). So can I hook up the synth to my X3 Live via MIDI, then set the tempo with the tap-tempo on the X3? I've had a look at the MicroKorg manual and it says that it can take MIDI clock data from another MIDI source. Does that include the X3?

hi there...

i'm in a band that is starting to play alot of country... my parker nightfly has a piezo pickup which is great, but it seems such a shame to play that guitar instead of my gibson... so i remembered that guitar rig has a couple pretty good sounding piezo electric simulation patches... so in cubase i found the preset i liked the best, turned off all the mod fx, delay/verb, compression, all the splits, and basically just left on anything that was making the guitar sound like an acoustic electric... then i used waves q-capture to analyze the eq curve, and took a screenshot... the guitar rig patch used an ampeg SVT model with no speaker sim, so i started with that, and used the combination of the amp's eq and the post eq to get q-capture to give me as close to the same curve as possible on the x3...

i think it sounds pretty good, but as i've been goofing around with it for the past few hours, i probably have some listener fatigue and i'd like some impartial opinions on how close it sounds to the sound of a piezo pickup in an acoustic/electric guitar... my guitar is a Gibson ES-339, and to me the best sound is when i use the bridge pickup, full tone and volume...

any opinions, criticism, and/or suggestion is certainly welcome and appreciated...

Recording POD X3 Live's 8 channels using Acid Pro via USB

Hi everyone. Searched around a lot, but just can't figure this out.

I know it isn't Line6's responsibility to make sure Acid Pro 7 works with the Pod X3 Live, but I'm hoping someone still might be able to help...

The problem:

I can't get Acid to record all 8 channels. When I hit "record", all it creates is one (stereo) .wav file.

My setup:

Guitar plugged into POD X3 Live with the USB hooked straight into my computer.

(Quick note: The POD X3's settings are reset to factory presets... just like new out of the box.)

Main question:

As I understand it, by default the POD X3 sends out 8 separate channels via USB, correct?

Therefore I should be able to record 8 separate channels at once by solely using Acid, right?

If that is true, then the problem lies with Acid or my computer and I can seek help elsewhere. (Although if anyone knows Acid and has any advice, I would sure love you're help!)

FORUM ISSUE: cannot post from Opera

The forum update has had a rather annoying side effect to me. The browser I use regularly is Opera (now at version 9.64). With this browser, when trying to post, the posting page is opened, but the text editor is not displayed, neither the full not the simple version. I had to revert to firefox to post this. I am unable to tell whether the culprit is the browser or the forum code, but I would guess the latter, since it's the first time I've had this issue. Browsing through the messages is otherwise fine. I tested this on 4 different installation, although it might still be possible that the issue is with some configuration option. Javascript is obviously enabled.

It says... The Stomp Box Modelers will also work under DC (Direct Current) at 12V, 500 mA minimum. The center pin is positive (yes, center pin is positive as opposed to the DC-1 power supply). but I am not sure if that will work for the Pod X3 as well.

My x3 keeps fading in and out with the sound. The sounds warbles and cuts out for no reason at all. Ive reset the drivers, installed them again and so forth. It eventualy comes out of its funk after i turn my amp down, and max out the master volume knob a few times. This somes times takes 5 minutes or more of tinkering. Im tired of it and i either need mine replaced or repaired. Im totally sick of it. Ive never had any problems with any of my line6 gear i have a pod xt bean and pro and have never been so troubled as now with this x3.

I cannot register my pod x3 live; it tells me that it is already registered?

I am using POD X3 Live with Music Creator 4 (MC4) recording software. MC4 is configured to recognize multi-channel recording via the POD X3 ASIO interface, and I can set MC4 to simultaneously record both a wet and dry signal from a single POD X3 tone. I have also installed the POD Farm VST plug-in, which is working fine with MC4. The dry signal is often useful later in the recording process in case the original wet signal ends up being inappropriate as the song eveolves - no need to re-record the guitar part, simply apply a different effect via VST. My problem: I can't seem to get an adequate signal strength for the dry signal. It records, but at a low level such that using it as a VST input later results in audible noise on the VST-processed output. Is there any way to boost the dry signal that the POD X3 delivers to the recording software without simultaneously over-driving the wet signal beyond the clipping point? Any insight would be appreciated.

I've been working at this a lot the last couple days and here's my setup so far. Right now I'm trying to find the best way to run the 4 cable method with minimal noise and equal volume to running straight into the head. I figure once I have that I can start to build off of it. First thing I learned was to use a surge protector and plug both the tube amp and x3 into this. - I was getting strange popping and horrible noise until I did this.

Onto the wiring

1. Guitar runs to input on x3 live. The pickup I have selected is a Dimarzio Chopper humbucker.

2. Send out of the x3 live to the main instrument input on the front of the Marshall DSL50 amp.

3. FX send out of the Marshall to the x3 live return. The button on the back of the Marshall is out.

4. x3 live main 1/4 output to the FX return on the Marshall.

Now the Settings

1. The tone volume is set for +8db. This volume is from the little Multi Function dial. Even if I turn it all the way up I never receive a clip light.

2. On the x3live I have all the effects boxes turned on except the loop.

3. I changed the "amp + cab" to no amp or cab even though it's not being used. I also adjusted the bypass volume to max 100.

3. My Loop settings are Send = -20 , Return = +15 , Mix = %100 , Post Cfg

4. The overall Master volume I have at %50 / 12 o'clock

5. The gnd lift is not on = switch is left

6. The live out level is set to amp = switch is left

7. The guitar in pad is set to off

Without considering anything but the x3 live what settings would someone need to pass the guitar signal into the x3 live input and out the send to the amp without changing the signal volume / tone / gain at all. I want my signal to be at the same level as though I was plugging directly into the amp head.

Is it having the Send at 0 and just turning up the return. Problem I had with this was the clean sounded like it was breaking up.

Any suggestions would be awesome otherwise hopefully this will help someone else.

Really struggling with this tone 1 and 2 thing.

I am trying to set up tone 1 as my rhthym and

tone 2 as my solo. I found a tone I liked in the preset

menues and saved it. I also saved it to tone 2, then added

some volume and compression to it.

I hit save and name tone "metal" then tone 2 "metal solo".

Everything looks and works fine. I turn the unit off and then on and tone

2 is gone, and also has a different name. I have done this several times now

so I know I am not forgetting to hit save. Also, whatever name I give to tone 2

shows up on every patch. I really need to have this thing working in 2 weeks.

I did have the comp/boost button setup for this but my wide foot had trouble

selecting it everytime. Too close to the expression pedal. Help!

6) Now I pushed delay footswitch and you can notice the change in the Tone 2, Stomp and Mod footswitches leds and the "Bold bar" is over Tone 1.

After this the POD come back to work Normal, the problem only appear when changes between banks are performed.

I started to notice this issue after the last flash memory update was installed and obviously I reinstalled it besides I tested rollback the pod to previous flash memory with not succesful.

When Pod is connected to gearbox everything work normal

I noticed another one thing: Presets saved months ago work normal, if the preset is saved again, begin with the unusual behaviour

Killing in the name solo effect

How's things guys

I know i have this up already but the guys in line 6 told me to mark this as a question and maybe i may get some help, so here goes...

I've started playing with a band who want to play rage against the machines "killing in the name of" , i have the main guitar sound down but the solo effect is killing me. I'm using a Pod X3 Live and i've tried using the bender effect in the stomp box list but no matter what way i mess with the settings i just can't get the same type of effect that tom uses in this song, mine just sounds messy and not moving between the right pitches. I tried downloading patches that people put up here but they don't sound right, So i was wondering if anybody up here has managed to get the sound using their x3 live would they mind giving me the settings. I don't want to drop this song from the set but i don't want to play it if the solo effect doesn't sound right. I really hope someone up here can help me. I also seen a thread up here about blending tones using the expression pedal moving from tone 1 to tone 2 just by moving the pedal does anybody know if this would work, i mean could i set tone 1 to normal pitch and tone 2 two octaves above and just get the effect that way. I only have the x3 live a couple of weeks but surely it should be able to get the whammy effect that tom uses shouldn't it??

Mic input is blasting or nothing

Hi;

I'm trying to set up my SM58 to run vocals through my Pod X3 Live. I've been fighting the trim setting, which is pretty much all or nothing right at the end of its rotation range. I'm guessing it's because a tapered pot wasn't used .

The only practical way to set this is to crank it and leave it, as anything below 3/4 has no output, and tiny changes above this make big volume changes. I want to have the relative levels of my vocals and guitar and not have to worry about them later.

Unfortunately, at full volume, the SM58 clips the hell out of the input. What can I do to fix this? I have been looking at inline mic attenuators, but am not sure that is ok with a dynamic mic. I would also be willing to replace the pot with a tapered one if that's reasonbly doable.

Please help... the mic input is pretty much useless because of this problem, and I bought the thing to process vocals.

Hi,

I bought my POD X3 used in the Netherlands a few weeks ago. Came with the box, manual and psu. So, I registered my account to Line 6 and installed gearbox.

But when I tried to register the POD X3 itself, it said that the serial was in use.

I contacted the seller about this, and he didn't have his login data anymore. Apparently he emailed Line 6 himself too, but so far I haven't heard from him.

How can I fix this?

I can't tell if I have a hardware (flaky button, twisty know, button) or soft/firm-ware issue. I *seems* to have appeared after a recent fw update, but can't be positive of that.

Symptoms:

Pressing BANK DOWN (bottom left footswitch button) should scroll to the next numbered sequence ( i.e. 21A --> 22A, etc). Nothing happens when I press it, as if the button is disabled (broken)

Patch shows on LCD screen, then flashes over to AMP/CAB page and 'virtual' knobs start spinning, as if possessed by a demonic MIDI controller (there are none, unless we have gone wireless and I missed the memo)

When it gets to *some* semblence of stablized...I might click the STOMP to engage the distortion. Double-tap to edit, takes me back to AMP/CAB screen again. Pressing RT-Arrow (on circle button) will take me back to Distortion page, but unless I immediately spin the selection dial, it falls back to the AMP/CAB screen. Buttons seem to only marginally function.

Is there a 'blow away the entire thing and set it back to the OLD OLD original factory settings, *inlcuding* old firmware, so that I can better pinpoint if this is a programmatic problem, or a physical hardware problem?

I have a gig tonight (Tuesday the 14th of April) If I can reset to factory -- if you think that will help -- I can get my patches rebuilt -- I've saved them all to my pc.

Electric and Acoustic each going through their own XLR outputs?

Sorry, not much time to research this entirely, so just asking. I am pretty sure this is possible but would like a plan of action on hand for tomorrow. Unfortunately, I don't have any XLR cables at the house to test.

Here is what I want to do:

Electric guitar --> guitar input --> left XLR output

Acoustic guitar --> aux input --> right XLR output

Both XLRs will be going straight to PA system at FOH.

Both will not be played at the same time.

Each week (church setting) I typically play electric and acoustic guitars, switching instruments as needed for a particular song. Quite often in a short four song set...it breaks out to first two songs electric, second two songs acoustic. Some more elaborate sets (up to 17 songs) have me going back and forth.

My current process is 1/4 guitar cable to guitar input, and I have one patch set for acoustic with the others set up for my electric guitar. I start with one instrument, and when I change instruments I just set the volume pedal all the way off, and then pull the cable from the guitar, switch to the new guitar, select the right patch, and put the volume back on. This has worked in past, but has some challenges. Of primary concern are the different leveling settings at FOH for acoustic vs. electric. We don't have pro sound folks, so my guitar change may go unnoticed to them. I find I am constantly having to adjust in the AVIOMs to....having to turn up the acoustic and turn down the electric.

Tomorrow, we are re-doing/re-visiting our sound set up and levels (a pro is coming in to help us get some baseline settings.

I would like to take this opportunity to try something new (which is what I described initially). My thought is that if i have one XLR going into the Electric Guitar Input in the board, and the other going to the Acoustic Guitar Input...then those levels can be set independently. Also, in the AVIOM I can have the in-ear levels set where I want them for each guitar.

I'd ideally like to have the Aux input in the X3L disabled on all but the Acoustic patch so it is basically "off" when that patch is not selected (no volume controls on the guitar). I need to have the acoustic patch available for the electric but I can turn the volume off on the guitar if I make the switch, so there shouldn't be any problems.

Is it realistic to have guitar in panned all the way left and aux in panned all the way right on the acoustic patch?

I've check for shorts in cables, pickups, pickup switches, the amp itself and so on...

What it really seems like is that the X3 Live is just dropping out at times and didn't know if anyone had any tips...thanks everyone!

However to start the thread, I have a question. . . . .

I own both the Spider III HD150 with 4x12 cab, and now the Pod X3 Live. I want to use the x3 live in conjunction with all my custom presets on my spider. Pretty much using the pod as a pedal board for live purposes.

right now, I am running the pod through the instrument input jack on the amp so the amp can be used. on the pod, all modeling is turned off (being the amp and cab models) to allow the amp to do the modelling. The only modelling the pod is doing is the stompboxes, effects and wah, which are only turned on by tapping the footswitches, like a normal pedalboard.

Only problem is, when the pod is used, the spider has become very trebley, and high end. I have tryed to solve this with EQ's, output changes on the pod and other things which i cannot remember right now. If anyone has this problem and solved it, or if Line 6 knows the exact way to solve this, then if you can tell me how to solve this as I am very enthusiactic about making the 2 products work in unison with each other.

exact settings for the pod to fix this problem would be much appreciated, however, if one person can only point in the right direction, this would be awesome as well.

Dont forget, any other ways to set up the pair to work together is also appreciated for the tread.

Hi Folks,

I just bought a Pod X3.

The Pod doesn't turn on. When I switch it on, the screen lights on but there are only black pixels on the screen. No function can be accessed.

I did install L6 Monkey to update the firmware but the POD isn't even recognized by the computer!

Is there a way to reset the Pod to factory by pressing the buttons only (knowing that I don't see anything on screen!) ?

Second problem with Line 6 gear on the latest 2 purchased... I'm somewhat puzzled by the quality of the brand right now...

L'appareil refuse de s'allumer. En appuyant sur le bouton de mise en fonction, l'écran s'allume et n'affiche que des pixels noirs sur tout l'écran. Aucune fonction n'est accessible.

J'ai installé Line6 Monkey et les pilotes pour mettre à jour le firmware, mais le POD n'est même pas reconnu par l'ordinateur !

Quelle est la marche à suivre pour une réinitialisation complète avant le retour au revendeur ?

Deuxième problème avec Line6 sur les deux derniers achats... Je commence à avoir des doutes...

The tap/tuner function on my x3 live is not working. I have a pod x3 live and a pod xt live. By sending midi from the xt to the x3 I can get it to change programs but when I activate the tuner on the xt the tuner on the x3 doesn't turn on. Would this indicate that the problem is not in the switch? Would it help if I returned the unit to the factory settings?

I have a pod x3live and a spider jam amp, both have tuners but the spider jam is faster to use and I notice a difference in pitch between the two units. Is there a known problem with the podx3live's tuner? Is there an update for it?

I just got my pod x3 today. I plug it in set it up and I'm getting this terrible hissing noise, kind of like a "white noise". The noise keeps going even when the master volume is all the way down. I thought it was just a high gain patch at first, but apparently not. I checked my inputs and they are both set to guitar so it's not just a noisy mic preamp problem. Any ideas?

the x3 live, the normal sound becomes thinner. I have no settings in x3'eren. Is it the preamp that makes such a difference?

Hello there,

I was scouring through the many posts concerning a question I've been pondering for quite a while. Ever since I bought the X3 a year ago, I recently downloaded Gearbox and I NEVER KNEW I can use it to tweak the settings and it's free! While reading other posts there are people using Pod Farm as some say a "replacement" for Gearbox or as a plugin via a DAW. Two questions I want to get some clarifications:

1) Pod Farm with the Pod X3 can only be used as a plugin in a DAW not as a stand-alone software?

2) Gearbox is no longer supported as a plugin because Pod Farm is the replacement?

If I press on the TONE 2 button I should theoretically be able to access just tone 2 right? If I hold the button I get both but if I just tap it I should be able to choose either tones 1 or 2? Or is this only on the Pod X3 Live?

I just got my Pod after the first was defective so if checking everything out.

Also does anyone else have small scratches in their screen just below the POD X3 sign?

I have a POD X3 Live. Well my pedal started having problems about 3 months ago. So once I found the time I drove to a service center (that i found under this website EFEX Electrons in Seattle WA). Well he has hade it now for about over 2 months. WTF I need my pedal back so I can do shows, practice, use it. (I am out of playing) I feel that you have screwed me over. From what the tech guy has said is that he tried calling starting first day I took it in. He did not get replies for over 3 weeks and still dont know if he has. Now he has told me you arn't sending the parts so he can fix it. He has serveral POD unites in is shop wating apone phone calls/parts. I want to know what the hell is going on. I dont car how long it has been in the shop but you team needs to fix it. I paid for a warranty and I am getting screwed over. Your service sucks and I want you to do something about it. If you cant forward this message to the owner or someone of Line 6 then tell me how I can get into contact with this person to complain/get my gear back.

Using mic'd acoustic in X3 live

Has anyone ever tried to use a X3 live with a mic'd acoustic? Were you able to come up with a good patch?

I have an acoustic without pups that I normally mic and send directly to a PA for live gigs. I was trying to use my X3 live to shape the tone and add some ng and comp.

The levels out of the X3 live were much quieter than straight thru. The sound was good other than just very quiet. I verified that there was no pad engaged, and turning the ng/comp on or off had no effect.

The only other noticeable issue was GND popping on the mic, which was worse when the X3 was set to Lift.

Mic Problems

I too have a mic that has no output. I purchased my first mic this evening, a Shure SM57 Dynamic Mic.

I have the USB connected to my MacBook with logic running. The settings for the computer and Logic are set to PDX3L.

Sound monitoring in ON. My powered speakers are connected to the head-phone jack. My guitar is plugged into Guitar IN.

My mic is plugged into Microphone Input (XLR).

Inputs Page:

With either input selected to Guitar, I hear the guitar through the speakers.

With either or both inputs selected to Mic, I do not hear the mic.

I read the recent post "No Sound From Microphone" and checked the trim and inputs.

Any help would be appreciated as I have a project to complete.

Anyway I have unwanted Hiss coming from my new Fender 212 Frontman using my X3 Live in front of my Amp.

Is this normal as to it would be if you were to a regular Stomp Box... i.e... Distortion pedals or whatever in front of an Amp.??

I dont thnink its a Hum more like Hiss sounding nose...

Is this Hiss normal??? Do you guys get a little Hiss from your amp using your Pods??

Note this is the first I used a Guitar Processor (Pod x3) in front of an Amp.

Mono or stereo phono XLR adapter from Pod bean?

This is a newbie question from a long time user.

I want to send my left phono out from x3 bean to an xlr input in a porta studio and I want to keep the signal balanced.

I have an xlr cable (male+female plugs). Male plug goes to the porta input.

So should the female xlr plug have a mono or stereo phono adapter from my x3?

What will the difference be if I use a mono or stereo adapter from my left output?

Something tells me I should go with a stereo adapter (trs) to keep the signal balanced.

Help me out here!

Power Supply for X3L & pedal

I've added a Zendrive to my set-up (couldn't make the OD's in the POD sound right). I am loving the sound, but now my nice custom made pedal board case (from Rondo) with custom foam doesn't accomodate a PS for the Zendrive. I only have room for one PS...

- Is there a power supply that I can use that will power the X3L AND a single pedal? The Zen will work up to 12v.
