Help on Hooking a Flextone III directly to my Computer?

HI have a Flextone III amp, and I'm looking to start recording music through my computer, so I need to know exacly what cords I would need to buy and where to plug those cords in. If the quality of sound depends on whether I buy a cheap cord or an expensive one, then I would like to know that too, because I want to get the best quality I can afford. Line 6 edit not working for me - Java Errors?

I have been unsuccessful in getting Line 6 Edit to work. I have downloaded the program twice, and have been present both times to insure that the "recommended" Jave RTE was installed on my computer.

After looking through this forum, I noticed that Line 6 apparently has corrected any problem when using Jave RTE6, which I also installed from the JAVA site in an effort to fix things. This has not corrected my problem. Anyone able to offer an ideas?

When I check my Java properties on my computer, it says I am running build 6.1.blah-blah-blah...should this version not work with Line 6 edit? The Line 6 recommended version (JavaRTE5) is also on my computer. Should I delete JAVA version 6?

When I start the the program, I get the following error message:

Hi,

I am a new owner of the Line 6 HD147 and I was wondering if there were any suggestions on how to make an auxillary device such as an Ipod work with the HD147 in the same manner the 1/8" input does on the Spider series amps. I do not have a stereo for playback and always used the auxillary input on my old Spider III amp to play along with recordings, and I just became accustomed to this way of doing it. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated on how to defeat this issue.

hi i have inherited my line6 flextone 3 from my deceased grandfather, i have downloaded the line6 monkey and line 6 edit and niether will recognize my product. i registered it but the serial number identifies it as a flextone 3 xl ((21)f3x1p5535002877) by the input it only says flextone iii. i registered it as a flextone 3 xl but with it being registered that way the software still does not recognize the correct amp. can you please help me? thank you!

If I connect two cabinets (1=Flextone 412s set to 8 ohms, left/mono input; 2=Rocktron 112 8 ohm wedge for a guitar only monitor) and connect the two to the two left/mono output of the Flextone II HD set to 8 ohms, will this cause any problems? In other words, if the head is set to 8 ohms, does connecting a load to the two left outputs but nothing to the right outputs affect impedence, etc? I'm trying to find a creative solution to overpowering smalls rooms versus not being able to hear myself without being dependent of the sounds guy to get the monitor mix right. Thanks!

Flextone III changes settings by itself

I have been having problems with my Flextone III XL. On several channel settings the amp will automatically change the settings on it's own. I have re-installed the latest flash memory to see if that would help......no luck. When the switch is made it is the same as if you press and hold the foot switch (shortboard) and it goes to some other setting. I think that it might be the default amp for the particular channel.

As a test, I connected thru midi and using Line6 Edit I was able to see that when it switches the gain button went from 25% to 98%. The auto switch still happens when the FBV is not connected.

I'm not sure what to do........any suggestions? Is this a known problem?

Low end rumble on the Flextone III ?

My Flextone III has worked wonders for years in the studio which I run direct to an interface. I have recently taken it out to play live and once you put a little volume behind it gets this horrible low end rumble around 400-480 khz no matter how much low end you take out or which model you use. Has anyone experienced this or is it just my amp?

Flextone II floorboard malfunction

I have a Flextone II set up. In the last year I've gone thru 2 floorboards. They keep getting stuck in "Edit Mode" and the tone changes !!!

The amp works fine when the floorboard is unplugged. Now, less than 18 months after buying the second one, it's doing the exact same thing. Is there a switch that wears out faster than others and needs to be replaced? Could it be the Amp and not the floor board? How can I test it? We have settings and special tones that we can't afford to loose. What do I do?

Intermittant problem with AX2 losing power. Ideas??

Hey line 6 fans and techies,

I have a problem with my AX2 212 I have had for several years now. Haven't used it since it died in 2005, but it's been sitting in the basement waiting for me to get it fixed. Yeah, I have been procrastinating for quite some time, and have since had several amp/cab setups. I just would like to get it going for a practice amp here in the basement.

Here is how the problem started.....One day at practice, I went to turn the amp on and a bunch of funky stuff was on the amps display, as well as the floorboard. No matter what I did, nothing changed. Tried hitting footswitches, turn knobs, turn off and on again, and same result. Tried hard reset, and still nothing. Then after being on for awhile, both displays will shut off completely. I would shut off and turn back on again, and still no power on display. Leave it sit for several days, and it will power up and I can play through it for about 1 minute before it dies again. Seems like a cold solder joint, or something funky in the board? I have no idea where to start checking it. Obviously it is temperature related, since once it warms up, it shuts down. Anyone have any ideas? I have a line 6 service center about an hour and a half away, but I'm not even sure if they work on amps this old still. This thing is from the late 90's, and probably considered obsolete to fellow line 6 users. Or maybe not? Any advice or ideas are greatly appreciated. I will probably end up sending it to the service center, but I'd like to figure it out for myself with some tests. Maybe using a heat gun, and some of that aerosol spray that freezes, to see if I can get the problem to come and go that way. Thanks in advance!

previewing custom tone

Can custom tones be previewd before downloading? Would the tones be accessible simply by adjusting the knobs on the amp or is "deep editing" needed?

Hello there,

I've for about a year or so been plagued by a few issues with my Line 6 HD147. I've scoured most of the forums here and on Google for some info but I can no longer find any. I recall an old thread, prior to the forum "upgrade", about a fellow whom replaced his on/off toggle switch with one from an auto part store but I can no longer find it. I was wondering, since there are no replacement parts on here for the toggle (nor a parts list), if anyone here had any insight on what would make for a viable replacement.

The other issue involves random sound dropouts once my amp decides it wants to stay on. I'll post an exerpt from my service inquires which pretty much detail the entirety of my technical problems:

"I am currently having two issues with the amp. 1) The on/off switch

appears to be faulty and Line 6 does not have a replacement for it on
the website. It will turn on sometimes and then power off but if I
toggle the switch sometimes it'll eventually stay on. 2) Once the amp is
on it'll sometimes cut off all sound. After cutting off the sound, I
have found that changing presets will make it work again. It will cut
off on average of 2-3 times within the first minute or so of powering
off and then it's fine.

Other than those issues, my amp appears to be in working order. I'd
normally fix it myself but the lack of support/parts from Line 6 and the
possible complexity off the amp cutting sound makes me very reluctant to
do so. I imagine the on/off switch problem is either a broken solder
joint or the switch itself may have been damaged over the course of my
live gigging"

The only other issue I have that may or may not be related is the dreaded Line 6 Edit not working properly for we few HD147 users. I've still do this date, with no surprise, not seen any response from Line 6 about any support for the HD147's incompatibility with the new Line 6 Edit. It's still listed under the release as working but trying to sort out all the missing parameters and mislabeling is a tedious task. Also, I'm not sure if the Line 6 Edit could have messed up my amp's programming or something because I did a factory reset and the issue went away until I tried to upload my old presets via midi again.

Now I've tried to be fair to their tech support team and not bash them but this is ridiculous! No reputable company boasting about their amazing products and quality should ever leave people in the dark about tech support and issues. It's indescribably unprofessional and frustrating especially to die hard fans/supporters of Line 6 whom reluctantly want to switch to another brand. At least inform us about what's going on and progress on the issue if you even give a damn about the people keeping your company alive!!

Flextone iii version 1.02 upgrade has drastic Volume and Tone changes, Why?

I own a Flextone III with FBV shortboard. I have run the line 6 Monkey and found that th version is 1.02 bios upgrade. The other day I was playing at volume level 2 in my condo and all of a sudden the amp exploded to VOLUME 10. Jumped outa my pants and so did all my neighbours ( no offical complaints though)

I did a reset and it worked for a couple of days and then today, while just playing on the standard "tone KinG', the tone chnages after 45 seconds or so of playing and I lose the volume a bit. As soon as I hit the floorboard button again - the TONE KING comes back - for about 45 secs. then goes flat without any drive.

What else should I be doing??

I know you have lots of people complaining about the forum layouts and stuff but still, id trade it for a patch to fix the bugs in my flextone any day.

Mind you, even if you do fix the flextones tomorrow people are still gonna nag for a new forum, i feel sorry for you line 6, it cant be easy with all this constant nagging for things but still, if people dont have a place they feel they belong to, they feel lost so maybe the forums not a just a forum in this case, its a place flextone users could call home.

Infairness you should have ironed out the bugs in the flextones and vetta's years ago but alas, this comments just another drop in the ocean.

Dear other people, you the reader, yes YOU.

I know alot of you are fustrated but i'll jump right into the warzone and clime right into the middle.

I know you want somewhere to chat about the new coolest springy sound you got out of your flextone/other line 6 amp on sunday morning, but you cant continue to vent you anger out at line 6 and constantly nag nag nag.

The bugs might just be unfixable, some of them, and the ones left are probably too trivial to bother with because its would take too much staff time and money to do. Every amp has a bad thing about it, Valve amps are annoying because they need constant maintence or Gibson make nice guitars but are stupidly overpriced so that alot of rich people sway them around like a fancy car or a diamond encrusted watch, nothing is perfect.

And if line 6 are just down right refusing even though they could quite easily make a new forum or fix all the bugs quite easily then well, if your so disgusted throw your line 6 product away and never use it again.

Im a little annoyed that there are bugs in my flextone but its a bloody good amp, the best thing you can get for under £1000 and i love it so im not complaining nor going on some sort of vendetta because a few mic models dont work nor the compression (Although im quite happy with the compression, i use it alot). Nor am i complaing about no forums for it (There is one, tweakfreak made here, "http://groups.google.com/group/flexfax" which i am a member of).

Id also like to add that this is a SUPPORT FORUM, not a chat about what colour you painted your amp, or that your can play master of puppets behind your head whilst on fire and drinking tequila threw your nose forum. This is a forum for problems with amps, since the flextones are not really bought in bulk mass anymore, like most the spiders, theres not that many people that are gonna have alot of problems. (P.S if you complain that your amp does have a problem and that you want to check for a simular one but cant because theres other amp problems in the way, use the search option, you dont need a separate forum.) That being the case you should go to general discussion here, "http://line6.com/community/community/general_discussion" where you can talk whatever amp you got instead of segregating off into your little corners.

Conclusion

Stop fighting and get on with life. I know this comments gonna make alot of people hate me or love me but still, i thought someone needed to speak out from a neutral position.

This is probably just another drop in the ocean, that is this forum but still, i continue with some with some hope that one day line 6 will make it up to everyone, and everyone will make up with line 6.

When I power up my amp the channel lights do not blink off and on.but as soon as they start blinking the volume goes dowm by about 10 db.But when I change

Loud squealing (not feedback) when strings are muted (HD147)

A brand new (just over a week old) HD 147 amp is causing squealing when the guitar is not providing any noise. Its not like feedback, its VERY high pitched and VERY loud!

My personal thoughts were that it could be an earthing problem, as we've had this problem with a Spider II 212 amp as well, or a pickup problem, but the guitarist also has a brand new guitar and cables!

Hopefully its something stupidly simple, our guitarist isn't so bright and I want to sort this before he loses his patience (of which he is prone to doing...)

Question about Flextone II

I got a flextone II, it work just fine but with a minor detail, everytime I play an "A" note in the lower register of my guitar the sounds goes for 1/2 a second and comes back, it only happens on the "A" notes frets and only when the volume is on 3 or above (and not when I use headphones) ....Is just really anoying when I'm trying to solo and it cuts out for a split second, any ideas??? I am having the excact same issues that all these folks talk about in the forum about one of the amps Power IC chips going bad. Just turn the amp on and it goes into a Loud, I mean Loud Hum that you can't stop unless you turn the power to the amp off I did however after working with it a bit figure out if I un-hooked the white and black speaker wires it would be ok and play fine for a while. But as the amp heated up or I played louder it would do the same thing even with only the one speaker hooked up.

I bought the Amp new about 8 or 9 years ago. I have absolutely loved it. I have never even considered buying a different amp for the last 8 or 9 years but this problem has been a nightmare. Left me stranded on stage one night with no back up amp. Never had a reason to carry one since this one has been rock solid for so long. Now I have bought Three different new amps. Peavy, Vox and a Fender. I have to say it left a bad taste in my mouth after leaving me stranded on stage. I Can't get the same kind of sound out of the new amps that I have bought. I did the on board battery backup solder change myself and have worked on several IC boards before. I was wondering if I could by two new chips so I can replace both of them. Or if you could somehow help me with a discount on a newer model Line 6 would be good too. Please Help! I need my Amp back! Thanks, Justin Blair

Hi everyone, I am new to your forum or community and I need some help with a problem on my amp . I purchased the amp AX2-212 used about four years ago and it played ,sound, looked perfect as if it was brand new until around a month ago . The problem is when I turn it on, sometimes the sound from the left side speaker will not come on(no sound) but after a while it comes on.??? I've checked all cables , speaker and its connections and all appear to be fine. If I slap the amp on the top it works L.O.L.!!!! I really love the amp and I don,t want to get rid of it,any help or ideas to look at would be great,thanks.

I live in Victoria, Canada on Vancouver Island. My Bogner Alchemist 1 x 12 arrived yesterday from the USA. The gold channel is noisy. The mercury channel is fine. It is the same with and without a guitar plugged in. What to do? It is not even registered yet. Send it back which would be expensive. Take it to a Line 6 repair shop which is six hours and an costly ferry ride away? Is there anything I can try?

Problem with powering up my flextone 3

I`ve got a flextone 3 (75W) and it won´t power up. It start to power up and the lights turn on but it don´t go through the hole sequence and it stops leaving A,B,C,D, COMP, GATE on and Tempo/Tag is flashing. The amp won´t start. What is the problem. I have tryed with factory resetting and meshuring the voltages and everything seams to be fine. I have come to the solution that the problem is on the mainboard. How much does a new mainboard coast and from where can I order one. I suppose that it would be the same price to send and repair the old one.

Flextone 3 Midi connection issues

I recently bought a Flextone III amplifier, and tried to connect to it using Line 6 Monkey through the MIDI port. I was unable to connect to the amp, despite trying all combinations of MIDI IN and MIDI OUT cables. The transmit LED on the MIDI interface flashes but no return data seems to come back, the receive LED never lights. I then tried a completely different MIDI interface through a sound card 15 pin port, to eliminate the MIDI interface, which also failed to connect. I tried a different PC in case there was some bizarre timing issue, same result.

In the splash screen that comes up at the start of Line 6 Edit, under CONNECTING WITH MIDI CABLES it says "be sure your POD / Amp is set to MIDI channel 1", how do I make sure the amp is on channel 1? I did a factory reset by holding A and D channels simultaneously and turning the amp on, assuming this would reset it, but no change.

All Line 6 software and Java software has just been downloaded, so it is the most recent.

Is there a circuit diagram available for the Flextone III that shows the MIDI input section? I have a background in electronic engineering so I could trace the signals manually.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

wow just when you least expect it .bam.my flextone sh*ts itself.dont think ive turned it on more than 500 times.

i was playing it and decided to do a spot of gardening came back after about half hour and the thing wouldnt give out a sound

of any description.only the lights on the footswitch were lit up .turned it off and when it went to reboot all the lights on the amp stayed on like a christmas tree.

i tried to download the flash memory from the monkey via midi but i got no luck as it was not showing up as gear i have registered.(although it was)

now i need to know just what to do to create a happy medium between us again.i do realize that things breakdown but not through any mistreatment of mine .help me sort it out.thomasid.

I'm new to using Line 6 equipment, so my questions may seem basic. I have just purchased a Flextone lll XL and the FBV shortboard. I also need to purchase the USB-Midi cable ( M-Audio Uno seems to be the favorite ?). Once I have the cable i understand I can use Line 6 Monkey software to edit my presets and import other tones. I'm not sure what other Line 6 software I can use. It seems that I could use the CustomTone and GuitarPort software to get more tones and import them to the amp. The tones are imported from there and the Line 6 Monkey is what I use after they are installed to do any additional editing. It's a little confusing to a 57 year old novice guitar player, but I am willing to learn. Thanks again. I just need a little direction.

Flextone III XL vs. Duoverb?

I have been reading with interest on the internet about the now out-of-production Duoverb amp. I never really paid much attention to it in the past, likely as it was seemingly only available for a short time? Anyone know why? I love the classic look and stylings of the Duoverb, and the Gear-Aquisition-Syndrome is very severe these days!

I like my Flex III XL, but I can't help wondering what it would be like to own or hear a Duoverb. They seem hard to find second-hand...does anyone own both a Flx III and a Duoverb? Besides the obvious (two models at once with the Duoverb) is there anything else the Duoverb offers that my Flex III does not? If I'm not mistaken, all of the amps offered on the Duoverb are included in the Flex III, is that correct?

Perhaps that is why they decided to discontinue the Duoverb - upon the release of the Flex III? Any opinions would be appreciated so as to help me rid the floating image of a Douverb above my head when I try to sleep at night...

Midi Cable to USB hookup to Flextone III XL

I have a Flextone III XL and need some advice on how to hook-up my newly purchased midi cable to my Flextone III and then to a usb

I looked for a Line6 Editor guide but found nothing. Is there any guides that will walk you through the process before you get yourself into trouble before

you can restore all default settings and if so where would I find it? First I need to get the connections working and would like to know the steps

necessary. After successfully connecting both units I then need to know how to use the editor and also is there anyway to get a full screen of the

software. It looks pretty tiny to me and is very hard to read.....thanks

I would appreciate any advice to help with my question.

I am using Line6 Edit with my Flextone II XL and it works great. No problems. I recently added a Yamaha MU-80 tone module into the MIDI mix and everything works great. Only one problem....actually more of a question.

Here's my set up PC MIDI OUT to YAMAHA MU-80 MIDI IN, then from the YAMAHA'S MIDI THRU to my FLEXTONE MIDI IN and the from the FLEXTONE MIDI OUT back to my PC's MIDI IN. (pretty straight forward and simple)

BUT when I play a MIDI file on my computer the bank and patch on my FLEXTONE changes so a MIDI message must be going out of the MIDI THRU on the YAMAHA and changing settings on my amp.

If I can stop this from happening it would be GOOD. If I can get the MIDI file to send the appropriate patch and bank to my FLEXTONE it would be GREAT.

I am using Windows Media Player to play the MIDI files and I also Use Sonor 4 to modify the files when necessary. I wonder if these programs will be helpful in solving my problem?

I wanna know if I can control a Pod XT or another pedal like a TC Electronic Nova Drive via MIDI on the Flextone 3 XL.

For example, if i choose the channel 3 in the bank 3 of the flextone, can it change the channel of the Pod XT? I'm asking it because I'm looking for an Overdrive/Distortion Stomp pedal that works with the flextone channel (if that is possible..), and if i connect a Pod XT on the effects loop, I have to change the channel manualy. The FBV Shortboard is out of question because I'm using already one in the Flextone.

amp has suddenly started to break up at any volume. sounds like your trying to plug your guitar patch cord into your guitar at full volume. the only way to stop the break up is to turn the amp off.

could i have a bad input jack ?

should i try to reset the memory ?

just to further illustrate, i can turn the amp on with no issue, maybe it will give me a minute of playing [at any volume] before it totally breaks up. even if i crank the vol to zero the break up stays at the same noise level.

Anyone ever heard of this?

I'm not known for throwing my amps down staircases....so what could have caused this? moisture? my sucky playing?

Hi, I have a Line 6 amp hd147 very beautiful. I bought it recently and have not even a cabinet for it. For now I hear the amplifier output by the headphones.

Mistakenly connect the guitar and put the master volume to maximum, without anything else connected to the XLR output (connected to my pc), when tap inside the amplifier will hear a sound, change the channel to a clean and sounded much less. Disconnect the output XLR out of curiosity, I went back to playing at the maximum and the distortion was still ringing from inside the amplifier, as if I had a little speaker

It is this reaction normal? I burned some component?

I never connected the amplifier to a cabinet in a month an buy some more.

Im not sure how to install any drivers needed because i cant connect my amp to the line six monkey because of this connection issue. Any suggestions out there???

Problem with my floorboard...

I have a Flextone II HD that I use the floorboard accessory with. I have had an issue with the floorboard lately. When I try to switch channels, it works sometimes...other times it will either not switch channels, switch to the wrong channel, or switch to a different channel bank altogether. When I try to use the tuner switch, it changes channnel banks as well. I have tried changing the network cable, and when I manually change the channels on the head they work fine. Is there anything else I can do?

My name is Jesse, and recently I was fortunate enough to find a great deal on a used Flextone III. I love the amp, don't get me wrong. But recently, I've come to suspect that it's not a true Flextone III. I know, it sounds weird, right?

But when I first got the amp, and was reading the online manual (I got it used), I noticed something odd. The Mesa models (Treadplate in the manual) were labeled Recto Dual, or something along those lines. Not "Treadplate". This struck me as odd, but I put it to rest as it being an older model. Then, while looking at the back panel picture, I noticed that man had almost nothing in common with the manual, aside from the MIDI in/out, Footswitch in, and Effects Loop Send Mono, Send (stereo), Return Mono, and Return (stereo). No XLR outs, and no external speaker outs.

Again, I chalked it up to it being an older model.

However, at GuitarCenter today (where I got the amp in the first place), I saw a Flex III about the same age as mine (based off appearance), that had a perfectly matching Treadplate, and rear panel.

This threw me for a loop. It started me wondering. Is it seriously possible that I have a clone? Or is it just an older model, like how I thought in the first place?

I've just bought a used Flextone II with FB4 pedal. As I need to access more than 4 sounds per song when I'm playing on stage, I was wondering if a simple midi device, like the BCN44 would be of use for sending midi program changes to the amp giving me a new set of 4 sounds that I can access via the FB4 pedal. I can easly push one button on the BCN44 during a song that sends a midi msg to the Flextone, would that program change be a new set of 4 presetss for the A, B, C and D channels? I did not receive my amp yet so I don't know if this is a dumb question. I apologize if it is.

AX2 Battery

On the old board there was a thread about battery life and replacement etc. It was posted that the battery is readily available, but you should probably take it to a qualified tech to solder onto the board. Also, if the battery dies the amp will still work, but all your User patches will be reset. I was also notified of how to check the battery level; did the check and it was still good. I think that's a good recap.

New questions:

1. I carry my laptop with me to most gigs so I can reload my Variax if needed. I also have a MIDIMan interface and all my backups of the AX2 on that laptop. If the battery dies (It's the original one from 98) at a gig... theoretically I can connect up the MIDIMan and reload the latest patch dump to restore the User area? I know that once I power off everything is gone... just curious if it works like that.

2. In replacing the battery, has anyone gotten a battery holder similar to effects units and computers, and then gotten one of those coin size batteries with the same specs? Just curious. I figured that if we could install the holder then I could replace the battery as I do in my rack units and computers.

My shortboard is back at it again, with a vengeance. My Flextone III XL is turning itself on and off about every 15 seconds when connecting my Shortboard. Once again, with the shortboard removed, I can play for hours. Recently, I borrowed an FBV2 for a 2-hour practice and during a 1-hour gig, and the amp worked flawlessly on both occasions. In my last post, someone replied suspecting about the power supply, but I am not too sure because I swapped from the shortboard to the FBV2 and the amp would only go crazy with the Shortboard. Please help!

FBV express problems (HD147)

Hello there.

i seem to be running into some troubles with my fbv express, and am trying to figure out if its faulty.

I plug it in, do the calibration thing. Now even with this done, from the day it arrived these things seem to happen:

1. when i switch from channel to channel, the lights dont seem to coordinate, sometimes they dont move between the channels. for example. it starts on channel A, i switch to channel B but the light remains on channel A.... Multiple lights come on, say i switch again from A to B, this time both channels will be lit up. Some times i will have all 4 channel lights on at the same time.

2. the tuner doesnt like to stay on. some times it will, but sometimes it will just cut back to whatever channel i was on for no reason.

3. The volume pedal, if i bring it back to a quiet volume, it will stay there for a few mins, then for no reason go to full volume without me moving the pedal. also the lights at the top for the wah and volume do the same thing as the channel lights, just randomly stay on, or both go out.

if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated as i need to know if i should ***** slap the person who sold it to me.

Ok so here's the problem..my boyfriend has a Line 6 Flextone III amp and being the lovely girlfriend I am have decided to buy him a foot controller for it (not randomly lol I'm not that nice, for his 21st)..however, being a complete novice when it comes to amps etc, am not really sure which one to go for. I have been recommended the FBV shortboard but I'm wondering if it will do what he needs it do to..basically switch through the different settings on the amp A, B, C and D? Hello, my line 6 HD147 head has a fault causing the fbv express pedal to not function properly. I have tested my pedal in another head and the pedal is fine, likewise i have tested another pedal in my head with the same malfunction as with my pedal.

Is this as simple as a software upgrade or could it be more serious? As i bought my amp second hand, and have changed a faulty power switch would the line 6 service centre still help me out? (the fault was present before changing the switch)

I use this amp for all my live shows and love it, but this malfunction is affecting my shows, i would like to get it fixed rather than having to resort to getting another amp. Can anyone help?

Line 6 edit can't connect to HD147

I'm trying to connect to my HD147 via the Line 6 Edit software but I can't get it to see the amp head.

I'm using a Yamaha KX61 usb/midi keyboard. The MIDI Out on the keyboard goes to the MIDI In on my head and the MIDI In on the keyboard goes to the MIDI Out of the head.

I've tried every combination in the midi in and midi out selection under the Configure screen of the Line 6 edit software and each one returns "Could not connect to the HD147. Please check all MIDI and Power connections and click 'Refresh' in the tone locker."

(Attached images are my Midi in and Midi out options.)

If I let it try to (Auto Detect) it just shows as No Device Connected.

I know the keyboard is working as I can use it with Sonar 8.

Any input would be appreciated.

Using a Flextone III with Line 6 Edit, for some reason the tuner does not pick up anything when opened (it used to cut out the amp and allow me to tune-up).

I can still modify and send amp settings so i dont think the MiDI connection is the problem.

Everything is up-to-date in terms of the software and tried re-installing everything.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Flextone II XL 220V-110V transformer at what power?

I've got a Flextone II XL which was bought in America so it functions at 110V.

I live in Greece where we use 220 Volts.I had attached an external transformer from 220v to 110v with a power supply of 300watts.

The amp malfunctioned for a while and I sent it to the Line 6 service center here in Greece where they repaired it and sent it back.

They noted that I should swap the transformer with one of bigger power (more than 350 watts they said.) because the previous one of 300 watts was not enough and was causing the problems.

I've been recommended by friends who work as technicians to get a 500 watt one and they said that it shouldn't be a problem.

My question is what are the exact power "needs" of the Flextone II XL so I can buy a transformer of the exact "magnitude" or it doesn't matter anyway?

Line 6 AX2 212 - problem with Pots!

I have a Line 6 AX2 212 amp - fantastic amp, i must add. Unfortunately, it's taken a bit of beating whilst being on the road.

One of the dials (including the head of the pot) on the front of the amp has snapped clean off, as well as another that has become 'loose' and no longer registers when adjusting settings. The first one i wasn't so bothered about - being the delay/reverb dial i don't use. Ever. However, the one that's come loose is the 'treble' dial which is a big problem.

Firstly, can replacements be bought? Secondly, is it easy enough to get into the amp to sort this out?

Thirdly, before some bright spark suggests i take it to an authorised tech i'd like it noted that i live in Scotland - and thus there isn't a service centre for a good... ooh, continent or so

I have an HD147 amp head. It was changed by line 6 so I could use it in the State ons 115v. I'm back in the U.K. and need to switch it back to 240v

I was told by someone in tech support to:

1) remove the link, component J7

2)replace fuse with slowblow 4A

I've done this but the fuse blows, I've blown 3 fuses errg.

What am I doing wrong?

Computer - Imac - 2.66ghz

USB interface - M-audio Fast Track Pro

Amp - Flextone 3 XL with FBV Shortboard

I was hoping to plug direct to the flextone and then route the xlr out (to use the AIR II) into the input of the m-audio and use garage band 09 for recording the tracks.

Please advise if this method will work.

I just had a friend show me his Flextone II set up and I'm definitely going to get one. But, I checked your site and see that you have a Flextone III now. I also noticed that you have a much nicer foot controller FBV http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbv.html than the FB controller that he has. I used to have a midi Ground Control pedal and I liked that I could program in preset names to make it easier to know which sound/channel I was using on stage.

So, my questions are:

1. What are the key differences between the Flextone II and Flextone III?

2. Does the FBV pedal work with either the Flextone II or the Flextone III? If not, what is the best foot controller (similar to the FBV) for the Flextone III (I already know that the FB works with the Flextone II).

The problem is this: The amp head turns on like it should, it lights up, and everything on the front panel seems to work perfecly. You can press all the buttons you want, and they light up. VERY pretty amp head. Line 6 did a fantastic job designing the head shell. You can see yourself in the chrome... its a beautiful head, and the pictures online do nothing for it. I hope the picture I included does something for it. But anyway with this problem, everything on the back panel is either nonfunctional or severely weakened somehow (this includes the xlr outs, the headphone jack, the speaker outputs, and everything else back there, I tried them all). If you plug it up to a 412VS cab, which is the matching cab for the HD147, with the 2 included speaker cables for a stereo set-up with the impedence switches matched you will get a light popping in your speakers every few seconds AT BEST. At the 16 Ohm mono setting, you'll get a weird screeching sound, again, AT BEST. Sometimes there is no noise whatsoever. So naturally, I took it to a Line 6 Service Center. The guys there told me they couldn't fix it. They messed with it for an hour while I hung out at Guitar Center, and when I came back, they hadn't made any progress determining what exactly was wrong with it. Finally when they decided that they weren't going to get anywhere with it, I told them I would just exchange it where I got it for a new one. They agreed that this was the best approach. If you have this problem with your HD147 head save yourself the drive and just send it back to where you got it in exchange for a new one. I HOPE there is nothing wrong with the cab that I'm keeping, since I am hopefully pairing it with my new HD147 head. If it doesn't work... I will be frustrated.

Ok... I have an AX2 212 that I bought new in 1998. I still use it on occasion, mostly for rehearsal. Recently I saw an amazing conversion on eBay. I bid on it, but one thing or the other kept me from going back and I lost it. It was an AX2 that had been converted into a head and closed back cabinet. It was covered in red tolex and was beautiful! That got me thinking again... converting mine to something like that would make it far more useful to me. Should I switch to the new Spider Valve head? I do like my HD but I have always had problems finding the right tones. Always sounds too processed. I just bought a new Spider 4 150w head as I liked the artist presets alot........however when I used with the band in the studio, I was less than impressed. The tones gets muddy and kinda weak at high levels. I am getting rid of it. I play metal and like a nice old school metal sound.(Mesa,Marshall).....along those lines. The thing with the HD,to me, is that it just takes too long to find the right tone. I have a decent rhythym tone but it could be better. What do you guys think? Keep the HD or get the SpiderValve head?

Need help with AX2 212 unresponsive wah problem

My wah has become unresponsive on my AX2 212. It comes on, but the pedal does not change the frequency of the wah.

There was a thread in the old forums that identified the possible fix and the part I needed to change out (an 8 bit converter I believe) according to Lemmie who helped everyone out.

It was a simple swap out of this specific A/D converter I think in the amp head.

Of course we can not access the old archived forums from last year the last I checked so I lost the specific instructions about the procedure and part to replace to try and fix this. Not happy when I came back here and saw the new forums with all previous data destroyed.

Does anyone know what part this might be and where it is located in the head?

The amp works fine otherwise-all patches without a wah are fine.

The volume pedal works fine.

Any help is appreciated. I know Lemmie headed for the hills after the forum change so am wondering if anyone else knows what this part replacement is.

It seemed pretty common.

I do not suppose there is a way to now access the old archived forums is there?

I recently purchasted a Line 6 Spider III today at Hometown Music in Harrisonburg, VA and get home, read the manuel and plugged it into a grounded receptacle like I was instructed to from the Spider Manuel and it doesn't not even turn on. I tried taking it out and plugging it back in, inspecting the power cord and still no sound, not even lights come on. I'm very dissappointed. The only thing it does it make a sound when i plug it in, and it sounds like its powering up but still nothing. What am I missing here or what could be the problem? any advice or comments would be appreciated. I am going to take it back to Hometown Music tomorrow.

Hi,

I am having problems with my Line 6 Flextone 3 combo amp. It worked fine at band practise then the following day at a gig, it just would not turn on. I am guessing a fuse has blown inside the amp somewhere as I tried changing the fuse in the plug. However, if it is a fuse inside the amp, I cant find it, and if I could, it seems very difficult to get to it.

I want to check its not the fuse before I send it off to you guys to look at it as this could save me a fair bit of cash. The amp is no longer under warranty so I'm not bothered about taking it apart.

Any help is appreciated.

FlexIII XL. When changing from my stock high gain rythm sound useing treadplate and going to my lead sound with solando, I get this stuttering of sound. best I can explain is this. If I hit a solid ringing chord(gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) and swith to the lead sound I get (g-g-g-gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa) at the patch begining then its fine but is very noticeable. I have switched my lead sound to use same treadplate amp with more volume + FX but this is a run around to the problem not a fix. Any Ideas? I also have 2 other isuues. The compressor sure seems to not work. Using deep edit, I cannot get it to sound even remotely squashed with clean sounds (trying to emulate Foo Fighters intro to everlong). Finaly, is there any way to edit wah? My flexII DH had much smoother wah sound than my flexIII XL. The Flex III sounds much more harsh and thin. Any way to edit this? It sounds like the tone default Wah on the Flextone's FBV controller has a default placement setting in the FX loop. Am I able to change this default so the wah pedal modelling is the first thing in the signal chain? Personally, I like that wah tonal range a lot better..

A friend said he was able to do it on his older original Flextone amp's floorboard, so i'm guessing there's a way on the newer version , albeit unknown to me.

Im wondering if anyone here has graduated up through the flextone series of heads from the original to the newest one out and

if over all one SOUNDS better than the other..

Im not counting options or amp models, im talking regular sound / tone ..

I got this original Flextone HD and it sounds fantastic... for 150 bucks its unbelievable...

for 900 bucks.. its still wrather unreal to me.. (I paid 150 for mine, what a deal for a preamp and wattage like that....)

its very loud, clear, the amp models are right on point.. I dont have a problem with them being mushy or dark.. or muddy ..

i read the manual and set the amp up for the cabs i got.. and im not getting any of these compaints that I read on some of the review websites...

it doesnt get muddy when I turn it up and the fx, if properly applied, sound fantastic..

so my ? is , do I bother even jamming a flexII or III ? are they really better or just more expansive with options?

I am a tube gain freak so I will be checking out the HD147 this fall...

did I mention how LOUD these amps are.. I really like that.

Hi there I own a Flextone III and Im wondering if there is any way of getting more drive out of the amp model "Plexi Lead 100" based on a 1968 Marshall Super Lead. I have the problem where there just isnt quite enough breakup and Im wondering if there is any way I can fix this through line6 edit or something as I dont want to use any pedals and have found that raising my pickups way up to get that extra input volume destroys the tonal qualities of what Im looking for. All I want is that amp model with a little more drive on tap (where it currently maxes out at 10 I need say "14") as the lack of drive doesnt allow for the bass to really come out. I could just use the superbass model but I perfer the overall sound of the SLP. I know this is how the amp actually sounds but I just need that little bit more... is there any way to edit this?

AX2 tuner will not turn off

The tuner on my AX2 will not turn off. Any program change lasts approx. 2 seconds then it reverts back to tuner mode. An authorized Line 6 repair shop has had it for 3 months with no luck. They have replaced the chip specified by Line 6 (twice) as well as performed all updates suggested by Line 6 with no change. Any help with this issue would be appreciated.

I'm playing a bc rich bich guitar tuned to drop C through a line 6 mm4, a line 6 uber metal distortion pedal and a bbe sonic maximizer pedal. All of that is plugged into my flextone 2 and is NEVER turned up past half way, in fact its generally a few notches below halfway at most. I replaced both speakers about a month or two ago, I just figured they got blown because I was playing with a digitech synth wah pedal which has some real low bassy sounds. Since I replaced both speakers though, I havent used that pedal once, and already one of the speakers has blown. I have a show coming up this friday and am now stuck without an amp because I cant get a replacement speaker in time. Why would this be happening?

HD147 Overheating!

My HD147 is overheating after about an hour of use. The heatsink on back is almost too hot to touch and the amp starts to crackle and/or feedback.

Our other guiratist has the same setup and his 147 is not heating up nearly as much or having any of the same problems.

Hi there, I actually have two questions...

1. I'm running an HD 147 head into two 4x12 cabs. These cabs are Fender Metal Head cabs with only one 'mono' input each and a rating of 4 ohms at 400 watts. How to I safely connect the full stack? Do I set the head to '4 ohms'? It seems to me that that is my only option but creates a mismatch. Do you guys have any advice for me...please? And I hope you don't tell me I have to buy new cabs...

2. Is there a quick and easy way to set all of my presets (on my shortboard) to run at the same volume without going through every preset and adjusting the channel volume while looking at a db meter? I'm always stuck on one or two channels when I go jamming because the volume is always way off on the other channels...

i own a flextone III XL.. 2x12.. the manual says that plugging an 8 ohm cab into either left or right speaker outs disconnets the internal speaker so you can do so.. is it suppose to disable both speaker(s)? if i plug into the left side the right speaker will work and in the right the left.. is there any way to make both speakers on the combo work and the external cab you are trying to connect and is it recommended? im using a mesa boogie 4x12 cab.. thanks- a.c.

Flextone III Master Knob + Headphones Problem

Hi.

I own a Flextone III. It has always sounded a little muddy for me, and I have had troubles finding a clean tone.

When the Master Knob is turned down around very low volume, some scratching sounds appear, but if I find the right spot, it also sounds more "Stereo-like" and brighter, but the volume is unusable low. The headphones output only sends to the left speaker (except very precise spots of the Master Knob I mentioned above). I can hear hiss / cracks in the right speaker (in my headphones) when I turn the Master Knob up and down. There is nothing wrong with my headphones.

What can be wrong?

Flextone III XL locked up

Hello. This forum is great, and there is a lot of helpful information. However, I have been searching/reading through the board looking for a solution to my particular issue, but I have not found anything that will work.

A couple days ago I had my Flextone III connected to my laptop via m-audio usb midi device. It was working OK, but locked up after writing patch changes via line 6 edit (I believe it was a patch from customtone). It remained locked through power cycles. I finally did a factory reset (hold A and D while powering on) and this took care of the issue. I started tweaking patches and making a ton of changed, and a while later this happened again. I didn't want to lose the patches I had spent the evening working on, so I tried to reflash the firmware (v. 1.10) with Monkey. It wouldn't talk to the amp after multiple power cycles, so I tried the boot in safe mode (hold A while powering on). Monkey still didn't get a response from the amp.

I tried powering on while holding the D channel selector for some reason, and this time Monkey was able to backup my configuration and reinstall the 1.10 firmware. After "successfully" installing the firmware, Monkey told me to cycled the power on the amp, but after it powered on it would not respond. No sound, and now all channels, gate, and comp were lit while the tap flashed every 1 second or so. When I try to boot while holding down channel D, it powers on with only the A channel lit. It won't communicate with Monkey, but, while in this mode, if I press A it cycles through every light on the amp. If I press the B channel, it cycles through the channel lights when you turn any of the knobs. Is this some type of service mode? Booting while holding A does nothing. Factory reset (boot while holding A and D) does nothing. (EDITED: I was wrote this from memory, but, after getting home, I saw that I had the A and D channels mixed up in this paragraph so I changed them.)

Is there anything I can do/try short of taking it in for service? Is there a master reset function, jumper, or something? Thank you.

I would like to reset the User banks on my original flextone. I read in the manual that to do this, I need to hold down all four Channel Buttons on the amp and power the unit on (Preset Reset). The problem is that Channel A and B buttons on the amp are inoperable.

I do not use the amp enough to justify taking it to the tech center for repair, but I would like to reset the User banks to the factory settings. Is there a way to accomplish this by using the foot pedal, or through another means?

I have attempted to clean the Channel buttons using contact cleaner, but that did not help.

Again, this is the original Flextone XL (no numbers in suffix), and I have the larger footboard.

Hi, i have an 18 month old Flextone 3XL and have just recently added an FBV shortboard. I have noticed recently that the volume is dropping by about 20% periodically for no apparent reason but as soon as the channel is switched it reverts to normal volume. Not sure if this has coincided with using the shortboard or not.

HELP!! I have a gig in 48 hours and i need to iron this out! Any info would be appreciated.

Ok, so I have an HD147 plugging into my system with an Emu 2x2xmidi box into the USB port. When I open line 6 edit, my HD147 registers as a Flexitone III. Is this normal? If not, would there be any widely known reason for it to do this?

Also, I am not sure if this is related but when I try to update the flash memory in Line 6 monkey I get two errors upon installing. Unrecognized file type and just a simple "installation failed".

On top of this fun stuff, no matter how many times I sync my tones in Line 6 edit with my amp they are never really saved once I switch patches and banks. Just thought I'd ask the forums before considering going to a line 6 tech, any advice?

...I was able to snag a great deal from someone on a used Line 6 Flextone II (which I still consider an awesome amp, even if it's outdated) and got so excited about using it that I decided I wanted to really get inside of the tones. So I was delighted to find that Line 6 has software that allows you to get down into the nitty-gritty of the amp's tonal capabilities. I went out and bought a midi interface (M-Audio Midisport 2x2 Anniversary Edition), installed all the necessary drivers, restarted my computer and plugged it in. Then I powered up the amp and connected the MIDI cable from the amp to the midi interface. So far, so good...

I went and downloaded the latest versions of "Line 6 Monkey" and "Line 6 Edit" and had them installed. Upon opening Line 6 Monkey, I was shocked to find that my Flextone II was not a selectable "Line 6 Device" under the configuration drop-down menu. Okay, lame...

Well, maybe Line 6 Edit will work for me. Nope. As soon as I try to open Line 6 Edit, I receive this error message...

i have a flextone hd with a floorboard...the head is stuck in save mode and the floorboard seems to be stuck in edit mode...ie e1, e2, e3

i tried to reset the head (abcd while powering on and off) but that didnt seem to work...is there something else i can do?

I bought 2 16ohm Eminence Swamp Thangs for my 2x12 combo conversion to head + 2 2x12 cabs project. Meanwhile, reciving all the parts to build the cabs, I stick the Swamp Thangs into my F3XL. I finally got to put some juice to them last night at band practice. My clean patches have gotten the short end of the stick - no longer clean. My high gain patches -- WOWOWOWOWWWIIEEE!!!!. Although a bit unwieldy, they have COME ALIVE. More guts and "tube tone" than I would have ever thought was possibly out of this amp. Do it. If it doesnt work out, let me know and Ill buy the spakers off you, as I need 2 more for my other cab.

Ok . . . I wanted to get a POD X3 Live . . . and I have no idea what to run it through. I looked into Atomic Amps and I feel that's the best thing out there, but it's never in-stock. I'm thinking about picking up a used Fextone III Plus and then finding a 1x12 extension cabinet to pair up with it. As there is no current production Line 6 1x12 extension cabs in the Flextone line, I'll have to find an earlier version Flextone cab. I know they're out there somewhere.

I plug into the amplfiier and i am always reminded about how great it sounds. Then i turn it up past four and the speaker begins to fart out horribly. It is not the speaker causing the issue because i have replaced it with a brand new Eminence Wizard, and i still have the same problem. This is no form of natural feedback i can tell you that. The sound is a deep farting sound almost that is followed by a strange scrathy sound. I am not using active pickups or any sort of signal boost in front of the amp so i do not think i am overloading the preamp. I am extremely frustrated with the issue as i can no longer be heard at practice without fear that if i turn the amp up i will blow my new speaker. Its horrible. Please help.

I have had my Flextone II XL since 2002 if memory serves. I just discovered a major issue...it is automatically resetting to factory default settings every time I power it up. I went in this evening to reset all my "personal" settings, and I shut it off for about 5-10 seconds, and when I powered back up, nothing was stored. I have a real bad feeling about this...I hope it can be fixed for cheap, but I'm not holding my breath on that. I love this amp, and really wish to continue using it. I have a Flextone Plus and have an additional 12" cab which is closed-back.I also have a FloorBoard, if that matters.

I am wondering if one could run the two speaker options as an A/B for the different tones each cab would give, and still have the stereo option (C), without having to plug and patch in the middle of everything.

One half of my brain believes it to be possible and relatively simple, but the other half, while willing to believe it, is clueless.

I've thought that maybe a 2p3t on,on,on footswitch would do it and simply, but leds or something would need to be wired in, so you know where you are. Three switches would be user friendly, but each mono button would have to defeat its competitor AND the stereo button.

Also, is there any user control over the stereo function?

All the lights are lit and stay lit regardless of what I do.

I tried the factory reset, and updating the software from the site Line 6 Monkey software using a MIDI connection. It is as if the server cannot see the unit.

It gives me a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and to the right "Flash Memory" than under the installed column "Unkown". To the right of that under newest it says "1.30".

At the bottom under help and Info is reads "This item is installed but its version could not be determined".

Any ideas before I take it ti the Repair Center?

I have a Flextone III xl, and I was thinking of adding a compressor/sustain in front of the amp. I was wondering how much of a signal is considered too much for the amp? I have an Ibanez RG with EMG pickups, and I don't want to change the sound of my amp, but I would like more sustain, (the curse of a floating tremelo). I am worried that if I run something between my guitar and amp, the signal may be too strong, (not my area of expertise).

thanks for the quick response to my initial problem.i did give the reflash a go but i think i may have an issue with my registration of the flextone.

when i go into monkey and try to change my device via midi dialogue i dont seem to get any esn number uder the flextone icon when it comes up on screen. the update offers me 1.10 firmware saying a version is installed but could not be determined.i updated the flashware when i first got the amp so should i be trying to go back to 1.00 firmware.then it asks if i would like to register now or later , if i say register now it brings up my account /register gear with the flextone itemized where it should be.when i tried to reregister it, reply said it was already registered .{i didnt remove it before i tried this}should i be following some setup i havent stumbled across yet.ill wait for some reply before i attempt the next efforts of reanimating the flextone to sonic life.

Hello. I have a Flextone III XL that i have had for about 4 years now. During the last 2 practice sessions with the band, the volume drops way off about an hour into playing. At first I thought it was the new Line6 guitar wireless, but found it wasn't that after straight plug in. I need to do more troubleshooting to isolate the short pedal vs amp to see what the culprit is. I was curious if you have seen this type of problem before and what the usual cause is. I have been doing a little research on line and some folks are having trouble with dips in the ac power and are using a power conditioner. I love my amp and would love to keep using it, but if it turns out this is unreliable for gigging, I will switch to a different mfg.

I am e-mailing from a repair shop (not a line 6 service center) in Coralville Iowa. I am going through old parts and have come on to 2 line 6 power amp pcbs w/ heatsinks attached. I'm trying to figure out what amp they go to so I can attempt to get rid of them. The only indictation of a part number is "#35-00-4004 REV D 3/5/01" printed on the pcb. The date code is EM0237. As an electric noob, I could use some help identifying used Line 6 412 slant cabinet I just bought from a Guitar Center. Serial number begins (21)CABA524xxxxx... When I went to register, it came up one digit short on number length, and that prefix doesn't match anything currently in the registration dropdowns. I want to confirm that the salesman in the GC store was giving me the straight dope & not some line. Claimed they were Celestion Vintage 30's in the cab, and I'll pop the back off tonight to confirm. I'm guessing it's an older model since it's an older Line 6 logo on the front [found logo on this website referring to "Duoverb logo" but serial didn't match Duoverb prefixes?]. It sounded clean & was in great condition for used, so I'm happy with what I have, but I'd gladly push for some cash if it's not fully what it was claimed to be. Sounds even better with the used HD147 head I paired it up with. Buehler? Buehler?

Spilled Water on Flextone III

I agree with Mark Kessels and his request for a separate amp forum for his product. Any products that are currently shipping and fully supported by Line6 should have their own forums. Especially since these fora are now under the Support banner.

The current structure seems to imply that amps other than the Spider and Vetta are not seen as important as other models, or are seen as legacy/discontinued products, or are no longer supported. Just last week I bought my second Line6 amp, Flex III Plus, and it leaves a bad impression regarding ongoing support for Line6's older products. I mean, what would it hurt and how hard would it be to have a few extra folders in the forum hierarchy? It is certianly easier for the end users of these fora to go to a specific product directory rather than having to sort through a pile of threads unrelated to his or her product.

Moderators, please give this your consideration. Thanks.

"Not a valid Line 6 bundle" - problem restoring

I've encountered a problem upgrading a Flextone-III amp.

I backed up all of the current amp settings before upgrading the firmware (from version 1.00 to version 1.10).

I made my first backup using Monkey, and my second backup using Edit.

Afterward I downloaded the "Flextone3_110_Bundle.l6b" file from the Line 6 downloads page and uploaded it to the amp. So far, so good...

I tried to restore the earlier tone bundle from my backup, without success.

I get a message from Line 6 Edit (v3.02) stating "The bundle file you specified is not a valid Line 6 bundle file, or is incompatible with Flextone III."

When I try to restore using Line 6 Monkey (v1.27) the message "The bundle could not be directly loaded into the device" appears.

What is causing this? Why would backup files created five minutes previously fail?

Brand new guitar. Brand new cables...(both work perfect on other amps).

I'm thinking of running a flextone HD directly through two PA cabinets with 2x12" speakers on each side.(no mixer, just head+speakers) Ideal situation would be to have the PA just for acoustic, and a pair of 2x12 guitar cabs for electric, but can't afford both right now. Why does no-one do this? Line 6 suggest that running directly into a PA is a good way to go.

There are no dealers of the PA speakers I'm looking to buy nearby to test them beforehand.

would it work to buy a lowdown head(no cabinet), plug straight into it with a bass and then from one of the outs go into a DI or the snake? this to: get amplified tone without actually running through a cab(sound techs banned amps because of lack of volume control in our small room), and make the signal from passive pickups louder. so basically our bassist would be using it as an amp modeler and poweramp.

Where can I find the wiring diagram for the AX2 power transformer?

I got an old AX2 from a friend and he had taken the entire thing apart. All of it was easy to put back together, however I need to know where the colored wires from the circuit boards hook up to the transformer. Lemmie had answered this question for screamingdemon back in 2007, but he is now offline, and I would love to try to get this amp to work. I live in South Dakota and there are no Line 6 service centers out here (except for Guitar Center, but they send them out of store so no thanks). Any help would be most excellent.

I am brand new to guitars, guitarport etc... a guitar novice. I have a new fender strat and G-dec and have just signed up for your service and downloaded software etc... I have no sound. Do I have to have speakers attached to my computer? Can I connect my G-dec? Do headphones work well? Any help you can offer would be appreciated as I want to get started on lessons as quickly as possible. I've downloaded the first lesson, but again, cannot get sound. Thanks!

Turn off Mic SIM in Editor?

I checked FAQ and couldnt find this answer, is the a way to turn off the mic simulation in the Line 6 Editor, the other modules can be clicked on off but i cant seem to find a way to remove the Mic module from the sounds. I have only just got the amp, its an older Flextone III with no XLR outs or extra speaker out. thanks in advance.

Flextone III - Connecting another amp

Hi,

I have a Flextone III (the origional basic one without a direct out, or additional output for an extension cab).

I want to get a bigger sound, it's loud enough, but not big enough.

I have a PA head and a couple of 1 x 12" speakers and thought I could plug my Flextone III into this, the only this is how?

Can I take a line out of the effects loop?

Would it cut off the power amp i.e. does it need a return?

Another option would be to get another Flextone III and control that by MIDI from the first amp, but I'm a guitarist and MIDI is for keyboard players!

My first choice would be to use the PA amp as it wouldn't require any more cost.

Anyone any ideas??

I have a problem with my line 6 flextone III XL.When I'm play sound on E1 string on frets: 9,10,11,12,13,14,15 sounds terrible.It's like very fast tremolo. I tried reset by A + D while it turning on. I hope you understand me. ;]

ok guys, I've read all the posts but I still have problems getting line6 edit to recognize my amp. Other than this I have not had any issues with my amp whatsoever. I have uninstalled edit and made sure I reinstalled the newest version of edit. I'm using the m-audio uno but the the only light that lights up on the cord is the usb light. Is there something I am missing or is my amp or m- audio uno busted. this is very frustrating. btw i am using windows xp. Please anybody Help!

Difference between The FBV and The FBV Shortboard?

Hi everyone, I wonder what exactly is the diference between the FBV and the FBV Shortboard. I tried to check on the controlers descriptions on the site, no way to see. I tried to check the user manual for the controlers... nothing. Those manuals are quite useless, by the way... Anyone can help me? I need to access ans store the most presets possible with the board in real time, between song rehearsals on a Flextone III. Thanks.

AX2 Wah Pedal will not wah

Have AX2 212 which is a converted AxSys 212.

To make a long story short-my wah pedal will not wah when moved up and down.

This is in position 1 on the WAH pedal choices. The auto wah, etc do work.

The wah effect does turn on and engage on the amp itself- it just stays stuck in one frequency.

I have replaced the TLC542 8 bit converter which caused people lots of trouble when it goes bad-namely a stuck tuner.

I had the diode mod done at the RJ45 input to prevent future ESD which damages the TLC542 8 bit converter.

I replaced the lithium battery.

I updated the firmware chip to the latest version.

I have tried a different RJ 45 cable.

All other patches seem to work fine.

The Volume pedal works fine. The floorboard works perfect otherwise.

The photelectric strip looks Ok. Not torn or ripped. Anyhting else to check on that?

Is there a part on the actual circuit board that controls the frequency response change when the pedal is moved up and down that can be replaced?

It seems to me that the amp is working fine otherwise and there maybe is a simple chip failure on the floorbaord that controls just this function.

Any help is appreciated.

I have an Axsys 212 amp that powered up but would randomly shut off. Now it won't poser on at all. Is there a fuse that I can replace? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Patch changing/volume issues with flextone III xl/fbv

Hi. i recently bought a flextone III Xl, i like the amp it´s an ok amp but i have issues when i´m changing my patches with the fbv (longboard) volume pops up when i change patches then suddenly goes down if i i press again on the same patch then if i change to a different patch it goes extremelly loud. Anyone has an idea why this happens? The amp came with all upgrades (firmware, etc) installed. It´s sad but i think i´m gonna get rid of it and ask for a refund. This sucks big Line 6

i bought a new flextone III aftrer thanksgiving. shortly after i heard buzzing in the speakers and experienced a loss of signal. i sent the amp to houston tx to a line 6 repair center as intructed by line 6. the repair center replaced the main circut board. now that i have the amp again i noticed that the voicings especially the fenders are very bright. when i first bought the amp i had to add treble; now i have to take it out to prevent that bright thin sound and i heard the buzzing and had a loss of signal again. has anyone had these problems? how do i get this fixed?

I've just had my amp repaired under returns ref RMA13853.

When iturn the master volume beyond 4 and lightly touch the guitar strings there is a piercing high pitched whistle which doesn't go until the volume is turned below 4

At levels below 4 the amp performs normally
