Chord Progressions

I just purchased your JM4 Looper. It does everything I thought it would and so much more. I'm relatively new at playing the guitar and the looper seemed like a great device to help me practice and have fun doing it. I was hoping I could use the 'Jam with a Song' function to practice. It seems like a great practice item because it plays a portion of a song over and over -- forever. The only problem I am having is not knowing what chords to play with the songs. Is there a book or paper out there somewhere that could help me out with this? Something that would possible give chord progressions for each song? I've used "Band in the Pocket" CD's before and they have chord progressions with them. Any suggestions?

JM4 Looper snap crackle & pop

I have a JM4 Looper pedal (firmware 2.09) and I seem to be experiencing an increasing amount of snap, crackle and pop during recording. More specifically, it seems that the recording is fine, but when I go to save it to a WAV file, I get all kinds of pops. At first it was just a few and I thought maybe it was the switch on my guitar or something. But now I'm getting these pops every 5-10 seconds. The recording is fairly simple; a built-in drum track with about 90 seconds of rhythm guitar. Then I save it (as a Jam file) and attempt to record a solo on top of it. Then I save that to a WAV file.

I have also tried just recording a solo straight on top of a built-in song -- no crackle in that case.

This does not appear to be an issue from the guitar or cable as the pops are not present when I load the JAM file; only if I load the WAV file or copy the WAV file to my computer. I have tried turning the JM4 off and on etc to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe there's a better way to do this that The JM4 is cool, but I'm getting frustrated with this.

JM4 Looper - SD card problems

Hi,

I have the JM4 looper with firmware version 2.09 installed from new but am having problems with SD card functionality.

I have tried 2 SD cards now - both smaller than 2gb - and get the same problem. Every time I try to access the SD card through the looper menu (whether trying to format the card, saving or transfering files from card to looper and vice versa), the looper seems to go straight in to a re-boot or re-start - I never actually get to access the card.

I've also tried recording a track and saving it to the card but get the message "invalid characters in filename" despite only using the suggested file name given by the unit.

Is the unit faulty or there something I need to do?

Also, any chance of allowing playback of mp3 files on the next firmware update? I'm sure this would appeal to anyone and everyone.

Mixing down to a wave file

Everytime I try to mix down my song to a wave file I get a SD card write error. It won't transfer .JAM files either. I bought a new SD 2 gig card and formated it in my JM4 and still I can't write to it. I set the security tab so it is suppose to be writable. I even reset all the factory defaults and tried again to no avail...What am I doing wrong?

I am getting to know my JM4, Lets say a I Pre record a Loop with my JM4 Prior to my performance,

First question, Where do I store the loop? and How do I retrieve it? I may want to use more than one during a performance.

Second question Say I play a fairly clean and dry tone for the Loop, But I want a dirty tone for my lead, Can I assign

that patch or Amp model to the footswitch? so I don't have to bend down and turn the knob, How do I assign My Favorite

tones to the far right footswitch? Next Level Control I notice there are a Two Channels out, Can I send Rhtyhm ( my Loop) to one channes say right,

and my Lead to another say left so the Board can control my volume of each channel or does my Mix go out just in one channel? I hope some one

can answer these questions, Regardless this is a great machine I love it so far,

Hello

Ok I figured out how to save a Pre-set to User Banks So I can have a clean tone and a dirty tone side by side,

So I can switch between the two during performance.

Part of my song has a chorus where I need to turn ON my LOOP, then back off again.

It looks like have to go to switch D to bring up either the, The Guitar Preset Mode, then back to Rec Select mode, Hmmm?

Is there another or better way to do this?

SD-CARD Problems

I am trying to update my JM4's Firmware. Purchased a new 2GB SD Card, formatted it on the JM4, but my computer says the card is not formatted so i am unable to copy the fw.bin file to it. Any ideas? If i try to format the card on my computer, it says 'the card can not be formatted'. ??????

May I ask anybody for help regarding using JM4 with electro-classical guitar (maybe this problem generally concerns acoustic guitar players...) I'm using my JM4 looper with Takamine TC132SC (electro-classical) which connected directly to acoustic amp produces a very nice and satisfying sound, typical to classic guitar which is the one I would like to use looping. I thought that using JM4 without adding any effects and "spices" would allow me to keep that beatiful nylon sound. Unfortunately I'm dissapointed a bit, the problem begins when I plug my classicl guitar into JM4. Although amp knob is in "clean" position, the sound is much worse than plugged directly to amp - the deep sound of classical guitar is "cut off" and flat, not to say that its volume is low. Does it mean that when I want to loop with classical (or acoustic) guitar through JM4 I have to compromise with the sound? How can I get the best acoustic sound possible? Can I change it somehow or improve? I tried earlier to loop with DigiTech JamMan and it seemed not to distort acoustic sound so much. I don't believe that it i impossible to set JM4 to be fully satisfied with using with classical/acoustic guitar. Please, help me anybody!

i'm using a x3live and got my jm4 yesterday, i don't need the jamtracks at all but wanted a high-quality looper with exchangeable memorycards, so the jm4 was my choice. but i want to loop a stereo-signal, to create some wide-sounding tracks like "run like hell" or the background-track in "where the streets have no name". the amp-simulation on the jm4 is bypassed, only the delay-/loop-unit is in use. the cd/mp3-imput is stereo but not processed at all. actually, the aux seems to be mono, so it sounds really poor. any idea if i can also loop stereo-signals?

Well I feel a little short changed!!! I've just spent the last three weeks reviewing all the various loop pedals (Boss, Digitech, Eventide etc)
and came to the conclusion that nothing came close to the Line 6 JM4. The overiding factor which made me purchase it, was the fact that you could play WAV files on the unit which meant that I could import work from my PC and use it live. However, when I tried to play the WAV files the unit tells me that it will only

play stereo files. I really think this is something that should should have been documented in the various documentation distributed regarding your product.

I really dont see the point of having SD capability only to sacrifice stereo functions. Can I ask if I can expect a firmware upgrade to change this?ed

If not I'll have to sell my JM4 (which is a shame because its so good) and go back to the drawing board.

I followed the directions to Format my 2GB SD Card (SanDisk). In Disk Utility on my Mac [OSX V10.5.6 iMac], the Info on the card reads:

Format : MS-DOS (FAT16) Available : 1.9 GB (2,030,862,336 Bytes)

My JM4 came to me with Firmware Version 2.0. I have successfully used this SD Card to update to Firmware Version 2.09.

I am unable to Format this SD Card on my JM4 -and- I am unable to "write" to the card. I alway get the message: "SD Card is Read Only"

The card is NOT Locked. In the Mac Finder Info, Ownership is: You Can Read and Write. You can see it say Owners Enabled: No, above.

Please advise how to use this card with my JM4.

Reversing Loops

I'll ask the ultimate stupid question, can we playback the reverse of a loop. Many other pedals DO NOT support this function. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. On the basis of the answer, I'm going to buy a JM4 tomorrow.

I have downloaded and reviewed the manual, I could not find any information on reversing a loop.

Hi, I have a DL4 and am considering getting a JM4, but I have two questions that I can't find answers to.

Is it possible with the JM4 to go from recording directly to overdubbing, the way you can on the DL4 by hitting the far left button while recording? Or, do you have to hit record, play a loop, hit a button to stop recording (going into play mode), and then hit a button again to start overdubbing? The ability to start overdubbing immediately (without the delay/gap you get from having to hit record again) from the initial record is essential for what I'd use the pedal for, so this is a crucial question for me. I have a different looper similar to the JM4 and the worst feature for me is the inability to do just this.

Also, can you save and recall loops if you have the SD card? For example, can I create a loop, save it, and then load and play it in a live setting?

it says in the spec for the jm4 that the stereo outputs are a mono sum, which makes sense for the loops etc. but does this mean the effects are mono too? i'd imagine they are stereo, but want to make sure before i buy it.

I think I have ready all other posts but I am unable to write anything to my SD card. OR upgrade the Firmaware?

I have:

checked the card that it writes on my PC
the phical write enable switch on the SD card is enabled
It keeps saying SD-card is read only
the same happens with another SD card too

also.....When I try to upgrade the firmware it reboots instantaniously and the firmware is the same "DSP2.00 / MCU 1.05"

the fw.bin file is in the root of a freshly formated SD card
the card is only 1GB

Hi: I've recently bought a JM4 Looper. It comes with 2.0 firmware and I want to update to 2.09

I've carefully followed every step from update instructions, downloading the update from Line 6 downloads, formatting the SD card on JM4 and putting the downloaded archive into the SD card.................but when I finally insert the SD card on JM4 Looper, navigate to "firmware update" and press YES, this message apairs on screen: "can't open FAT16 file system".

What I'm doing wrong?

Hello,

my name is Axel and I'm from Germany. Therefore please excuse my bad english.

I want to use the JM4 only as a Looper and rhythm device NOT as a effect device. Any effects or sound settings I want to made directly at my Hughes&Kettner-Amp.

I have connected the JM4 to the FX-Loop of my Amp, this works fine.

Then I have set the Amp model and Effects to Bypass mode.

The problem for me are the guitar sounds (Artist, style, user).

It seems that they are not active after power on the JM4. Is that correct?

Or are they always active and I can't switch them off?

Obviously after entering the menu with the Tone-Button the JM4 changes its settings to the shown guitar sound and I have no chance to switch it off.

The only thing that will work in this case is to power off the JM4. When again powered on the guitar sound seems to be switched off.

I hope you understand what I try to say. ;-)

Free Line6 drum loops on the JM4

I downloaded the free 3 zip files with drum loops from Line6, but they won´t work on the JM4. I tried to convert them with the SUPER program, but the JM4 still doesen´t accept the WAVE files from my SD card. Does anyone know a program which convertes the wave files from the ZIP files, so they would work on the JM4?

Hello,

I've got a problem with my JM4 Looper:

I wanted to upgrade the Firmware from 2.00 to the latest 2.09..

So i downloaded the update and put it on my SD card (I tried a Panasonic 2GB Class 4, and a hama 2GB Class 2; both were formattet correctly with FAT (def) in windows, the checksum on the SD was also correct).

So i got into the menu, selected "upgrade" and he cleared his memory and didn't accept the SDcard anymore ..

However, i tried again and again (also with other cards, few times formatted) and he tells me "booting from SD-Card" ..

Right now it stands there for over half an hour, and i can even remove the card without getting an error...

So what can i do?

Need routing help/suggestions for JM4

Love my JM4, but I need a specific routing feature that I would think is possible, but maybe not.

I want to have the Mic input to be active while in loop record mode, but after recording a loop (that will playback over and over till manually stopped), I want the Mic input muted and to NOT pass through any further input.

My application is putting a mic on my guitar amp and and capturing a phrase on the looper. After capturing that sound, I want the JM4 to only loop playback what was captured while in record mode and not pass through to the outputs what it is currently "hearing". This will allow the sound man to mix the rhythm guitar (Recorded on the JM4) and the lead guitar (played live along with looper) without any bleedover.

Hope that makes sense. Can one of you gurus come up with a solution for me?

Saving every track seperatly?

Hello all!

When I use a drum loop from the JM4 and record first a rhythm guitar and after that a lead guitar over it and save it, can I save every track (drum, rhythm, lead) seperatly on the SD card and then then edit every track seperatly on the PC?

I´m asking because I´m not so happy with the distortion sounds, because they sound very "digital". And I´m wondering if I could run the lead guitar track through a VST plugin or other better sounding guitar software to make the sound of the guitar better and then bring all tracks together to create one file at the end.

I have updated to flash 2.09 & my machine still doesn't save reverb info to card! Could I have an old version of the machine (2.09 replaced 2.00), or a defective machine? The machine also chokes (sounds like a volume swell) when I turn the 'gain' up all the way, no matter what amp model I'm using.

Hi there, just purchased JM4 Loop pedal (absolutely love it!!) and have a few questions: regarding firmware updates, mine is currently displaying DSP 2.00/ MCU 1.05. Now, I've downloaded the advanced features manual and was preparing to download the update DSP 2.07 (which is what the manual says the pedal should already say) when I realised that a further update has been posted (2.09). Before I go ahead and install it, I was just wondering if this will incorporate the 2.07 update as well? I imagine it would, but I have had some drama's in the past when I've skipped a software update, and therefore actually missed out on that update (although this was not Line 6 gear). My next question is if there is a way to free up more internal memory by deleting some of the preset beats/songs that come installed? I have an SD card, but as I understand it, the pedal uses internal memory only when performing/recording overdubs. I intend on using the pedal primarily for performance and obviously would like as much internal memory available as possible. Any advice would be much appreciated, Cheers

I would like to know if can connect theJM4 "out to amp" output to a nice guitar amp and the "stereo out" outputs to a keyboard amp? I am sure I can do this but this is the real question..I want a processed guitar signal to go to the guitar amp and all of the other recorded stuff(backing tracks, drum grooves, etc) to go to the keyboard amp...Of course, the reason being is that I want to hear my guitar thru my tube amp and the other stuff thru a wider frequency range of a keyboard amp..thanks..

Can anyone assist please. Just purchased JM4 Looper. Loaded backing tracks from web onto my Macbook pro. Formated SD card on JM4 Looper, loaded wave files to SD card but JM4 Looper says 'no source files on card'? Same when trying to load upgraded firmware onto the JM4 Looper. Existing software version on my Looper is DSP 2.09 / MCU 1.05. There also after inserting the SD card, scroll to Firmware upgrade, press enter and message says... 'Firmware not found on root directory". can anyone assist on this as need to load Wave files urgently.

Saving to card process

I often save the guitar settrings before doing anything to save the loop. then, usually, I save the loop to 'internal' the transfer to card. I've tried almost every combo to save to card. For instance, not saving guitar sounds, saving direct to card (with & without saving sound). The only thing that doesn't get saved is my 'reverb'. All other peramiters, including 'mic-aux' settings are saved. I'm at wits end. The most important sound I rely on is 'reverb'. I have to manually set it every time, & in performance, it's a drag! Have folks been using expression pedals w/ the JM4 Looper? If so, what are you using? And how are you setting it up, b4 or after the looper?

I've checked out the Line6 EX-1 on Line 6 web pages, but I do not find too much detail about it (& I don't see a manual), and the JM4 manuals do not give any hints for pedal add-ons.

Mic is active only when recording a loop.

Mic is muted when loop is played back,

and doesn't pass through the mic iput to the LR outputs.

Hi i have the spider2 amp with the fbv floorboard, ihave been thinking about buying a loop pedal and was just wondering becasue i use the amp for all the guitars tones and efcts how would the loop work with my amp

for example if i bhave recorded a clean part and then switch to the distortion channel on the amp will all the output from the loop then become distorted?

Unwanted noise gate

The Tweed and Blackface amp models seem to include a noise gate which cuts off notes instead of letting them ring on. I play instrumentals using these clean amp models and find the notes cutting off prematurely most frustrating.

I can find no way of adjusting the noise gate to eliminate this effect. I do not use overdrive / distortion so have no need to use a noise gate.

Has anyone else found this effect? Does anyone know how to eliminate it?

I have just purchased the jm4 looper and i'm trying to save to SD card as a wave file but when i hit the right navigation button i get a message SD write error. can you help. Jut got a looper and am trying to make the leap from strummer to soloist. I've been reading up on pentatonic scales and see you can learn them in boxes which looks like a good way to learn. But what key are the jams in the looper. which key,note should the scales start in? For example I can strum along with one jam with A D & E chords so if i were to start soloing along with that should I start on string 6 fret 5 then use the pattern in that area string 6 frets 5 & 8, string 5 frets 5 & 7.

What advice can you folks give?

A few questions i would appreciate answers to:

1 Can I play the JM4 Looper and my Guitar through my Roland Amp seperately as I would like my guitar, at times, to be independant from the Looper?

2 What does "time stretch" mean

3 I believe there are songs in the Looper under titles - 50's 60's 70's etc - where are they? Songs such as "Crazy Train" "Cowboys from Hell" etc

4 Killswitch Engage & As I lay Dying" tones ?

5 I'm getting a "hum" from my amp when I play my Fender Strat through the Looper - what should i do?

6 I believe there are presets for songs such as - Hotel California; Sultans of Swing; Cliffs of Cover - where are they - how do I get to them?

JM4 Looper used with XTL

I have just got a JM4 looper and already have an XTL. I want to use the XTL to control my tone and the JM4 just to record and play along with the pre-recorded jams. However the JM4 takes over the tone as well. What am I doing wrong! I have my guitar plugged into the XTL and the output of the XTL goes into the guitar input on the JM4 and the left line out is connected to my amp.

I am probably being a muppet but am new to this, thanks in advance for your help.

For example, the Jam Man looper pedal has a 1.5 second minimum length of loop, so anything shorter than that has silence after it to fill out the 1.5 seconds. Really annoying if your just trying to record a "stab" or quick hit on the guitar....Anyone know how the JM4 compares in this regard? Thanks!

I purchased a "new in box" JM4 from ebay, and it arrived in new condition (plastic over the LCD, power cable in original twist tie, etc). However, the unit does not have the serial number sticker on bottom, and there is no sticker on the box either. Is there any other way to get its serial number? Could I have bought a stolen unit? Can I still register it? Acoustic JM4 Users MUST READ

If you are using an acoustic guitar with your JM4 you should connect your acoustic via the Aux input (Mixed with Mic) to achieve the best possible acoustic sound for amplification with an acoustic amp or PA system.

One limitation this routing creates is that if you also want to loop your vocals (connecting a microphone to the JM4) your vocal output cannot be separated from your guitar output for independent mixing on your acoustic amp or PA system-NOT COOL!!!!

Vocals should always have an independent channel for proper leveling, equalizing and effects.

Another problem with this routing situation is that you cannot quickly mute the JM4's microphone channel before recording or overdubbing an acoustic guitar part.

You must manually turn the microphone channel all the way down to prevent the microphone channel from recording during an acoustic guitar recording or overdub-NOT COOL!!!!!

When using the JM4 with an electric guitar (NOT ACOUSTIC-ELECTRIC) you can select the guitar channel or mic channel for recording so that your mic channel will not be recording when your guitar channel is recording and vice a versa.

That said and true,

Here is a solution to remedy the inconvenient routing situation the JM4 presents to acoustic performers:

By placing a mic/line AB output footswitch in between your dynamic mic and the JM4, you can run the A output straight to your acoustic amp or PA system for an independent vocal channel, and run the B output into the JM4's mic input for vocal looping.

By doing this you can select the A output (via the footswitch) for normal vocal performance or select the B output (via the footswitch) for vocal looping with the JM4.

When the A output is selected your microphone signal will go straight to your acoustic amp or PA system without sending any microphone signal to the JM4-this will provide the ideal situation for mixing your microphone signal independently from your acoustic guitar signal on your acoustic amp or PA system.

When you want to record or overdub a vocal part, you can switch to the B output (via the footswitch) which sends your microphone signal into the JM4 for looping a vocal part. This signal will be mixed with your acoustic guitar signal and output via the JM4's line outs.

When you are finished recording or overdubbing your vocal part, switch back to the A output (via the footswitch) to return the "normal" microphone signal routing.

This solution allows an acoustic performer to have an independent mic channel for "normal vocals" and also a "muted" JM4 mic channel for recording or overdubbing acoustic guitar parts without simultaneously recording from the JM4's mic channel.

I have just bought the JM4 looper and I have noise and hiss issues. I have read other posts about this problem and have turned down the Mic/aux/cd inputs and it is still bad. If I connect headphones directly to the JM4, then it's not too bad, but still there. But as soon as I connect an external device (I have tried a Cannon camcorder, a Denon reciever and a Gem sound mixer) the noise is bad.. Even with the effects turned off, master volume all the way down and no guitar plugged in the noise/hiss is there! I updated to 2.09 and that didn't help. Is this a defective unit or is this just the way it is?

Been playing the JM4 for a couple of months now with no troubles

yesterday i went to a gig and when i plugged it in i got most of the lights except the light in the rectangular screen that tells you what preset you are using etc.

I get no sound whatsoever from the out to amp, the stereo out or the headphones out.

the unit was not dropped or otherwise mistreated.

any ideas what this might be causing this behavior?

Hello, I have purchased the JM4 Looper and need to purchase an amp to go with it. My question is......does the amp I purchase need to be stereo to take advantage of the stereo outputs on the JM4 via the mp3 input? Basically, if I plug in my ipod into the JM4 and play along with my guitar how would it be hooked up to hear it in stereo? Would you use the amp out to an individual amp and the stereo line outputs to another "stereo" amp for the ipod? I'm very new to this and just want to buy the proper equipment. Just bought the magic JM4 box. I play it with the following output routing: Out to Amp (a Peavey Special 130) and Line Out through a Marshall acoustic (AS100D) which has a stereo input. When in PERFORMANCE mode, everything is OK. When I switch to NORMAL mode, I can hear only my Peavey (guitar + Songs), while I have an extremely weak signal (mostly hiss and hi-hats!) in the Marshall, which I intend to use as a small PA system. What's wrong with the Stereo Line Outputs in NORMAL mode?

Hi. I am thinking of buying a JM4 and I want to use it primary live as a sampler that I can control with my feet.

I want to ask if I can use jm4 for the following:
Lets say that I have recorded 3 parts of a song to use live (verse,chorus,bridge). Can I scroll through them with my feet and then play the one selected (as a loop or single play)?
Having read the manual I think you can do this only by: hitting "D" switch twice to enter REC SELECT MODE, then scroll through loops with "A" and "B", then select "D" to exit, then "B" to play. For another sample u have to go through all this again. Am I correct ???

If this is the case, it seems that you need to do too many "clicks" to just go through recordings stored in the unit. Is there another way? Note, that I am not interested in changing guitar tones at the same time when doing this, just the recordings.

Is there a complete list of chords for the pre recorded songs?

Hi, After formatting my new 2 gb sd card in my jm4 looper and trying to save a recording to it =save rec mix as wav to card) and then putting the sd card in my computer, there is no wav file on the sd card! There is one empty folder and 21 other files all with weird names that the computer cannot open. I understand these are the files needed by the jm4.I have tried reformatting the card loads of times.I erased the recording from jm4 memory and then copied it back from the card which worked so the jm4 can find it but I cant!! I am using the 2.00 fireware version. Any help out there??

I just got a braned new JM4 looper and i played with it a litttle last night. As of right now I have one question:

When the display is selected for a song it has a letter on teh far left and then the name of the song (A - F#m). What does this mean? I looked through the pilot's manual and I was unable to find the answer. The only thing I could think of was it is the Key that the song is in?

Guitar Vol through the Looper

Playing my guitar through the Looper I find the vol of the guitar gets sucked out. I had the Channel Vol on the Looper up full and the Vol Control on my Strat up full and I could barely hear the guitar over the preset backing tracks.

If I up the Master Vol at the back of the Looper the backing track goes up aswell and I still cant hear the guitar.

I'm trying to get the JM4 drum or song loop to play, but without it's own guitar tone profiles - which I want to override with the Pod XT.

I've tried a few different ways of cabling these devices together - but not sure it can be done anyway, because the JM4 seems by default to use it's own guitar tones once PLAY / RECORD

Saving Global Playback Levels

Everytime I load a recording or track from SD or from internal memory, the virtual MIC/AUX/WAV knob returns to 100%.

This is stupid, when I want to record a whole set and play it back. I'd have to adjust the levels everytime...

Please help.

If this has not been implemented, I'd suggest this for a future firmware enhancement.

2) tried to transfer as wav to card; I get the message: "SD/card write error"

3) tried down mixing (song guitar aux); did not work

2nd post of question.....I just got a JM4. It is working fine for me, but I wanted to utilize the stereo outputs on the JM4. I must not understand their purpose. I plugged the stereo outputs to a speaker cabinet and got no sound. I then tried to output to a pair of KRK powered speakers. One speaker had output , the other had an annoying buzzing, but sound also. My amp is a Line 6 Flextone lll. I plug my guitar into the JM4 and then output to the amp. I guess my question is how to get more sound out of the JM4, other than through the amp.

Switching User Presets during a loop

Hello,

I've been making a living for the past two years performing acoustic 'one man band' shows extensively using the DL 4, and in a band using the Vetta ii amp. After 4 years of owning the Dl4, the pedal has finally given out on me, so I upgraded to the JM4, which seems to combine some of my favorite features of the vetta ii with the DL4.

While acquainting myself with the pedal I've learned how to seamlessly switch presets while looping, but I do have a question I can't figure out. I typically start my songs using the guitar percussively to acheive a drum set sound as a background. My presets i programmed are all level to eachother, the first two bypassing the amp modeling, as a clean dry sound, and a clean with some chorus and reverb for a wet sound. The next two tones are dirty dry and dirty wet, sounds using the heavier amp models to achieve a good marshall and lead sound. While using the clean dry sound to start the loop's percussive parts, I switched to the other presets to layer and noticed that the loops tone changed subtly (I'm assuming with the amp model characteristics). This changes the feel of the percussive tracks I already laid down, and I was wondering if there is a way, or update in the works to leave the previous overdubs as they were when switching amp models.

Creating a longer loop over a shorter loop

Would be grateful for some help with my new JM4 as I cannot figure this out myself (using the manuls and experimentation)

My objective is to:

1)create a short percussion loop (say 1 bar) using several overdubs

2) Put a rhythm guitar track over it (lets say 16 bars) while the loop repeats 16 times

3) Add overdubs to the 16 bar track.

Put another way I want to create a 1 bar loop inside a 16 bar loop.

Can the JM4 do this?? (I hope so as it it is what I bought it for.)

I got my Looper yesterday and love it,The only problem I am having is when I want to build a track up from scratch (no drums,pre loaded songs etc) I am struggling to keep everything in time.The problem is when I record a track then stop it when ive finished the part,it goes out of time at the begginning of the track when it starts looping.I hope I have explained this clearly and any tips would be appreciated,Is there anyway you could get counted in for instance and counted out at the end of your recording?.

Mega feedback when I output to amp and stereo line out

I recently figured out that I could output vocals/drums to a separate source and was thrilled to be able to do so until I plugged everything up. Bad news... I wanted to simply output guitar to my Fender Blues Junior Amp and the rest to a powered main speaker. I thought maybe you couldn't output to a powered speaker from the stereo line out, but if I unplug the line out to my amp the feedback immediately disappears and everything sounds awesome. Same is true if I leave amp plugged in and uplug stereo line out. The feedback is present in both outputs, the amp and speaker. I figured I'd try to see if I could run it through a mixer without feedback so I did and the feedback was still present, but only when both outputs are plugged up. I have thoroughly checked all the cables and moved everything around to make sure there is no electrical interference. Is this normal or am I missing something? Any suggustions would be greatly appreciated.

My JM4 has a 'fatal error-line 70'. I'm not sure what that means, but when I get aprox. 2/3rds of the way through the the drum tracks, this mess comes up. 'Line 70' may be 110 metronome1, It's the only drum track thats missing from the list. when I get past that point the list is off by 1 listing off (110 blues shuffle has the metronome2 track). What's the prob, & is it fixable? Is there a way to 'initialize the machine? I've had problems since I bought this thing, this is just one more case in a long list. Is this machine defective? If so how do I get it replaced?

I am disappointed that the line6 jm4 looper ships with a very limited and heavy power supply. I ask that line 6 ditch this 80's style giant brick and move to a light modern supply that can handle North America, South America, and Europe standard voltages.

I am in the EU and bought 220v to 9v 3A DC supply. I just noticed on the line 6 unit it say 9v AC minimum. Does the line6 work with a 9v DC input as well, or only 9v AC?

Don't want to blow up the unit, so please lmk asap.
