distortion on D string piezo

Hey Guys,

I was doing some recording in the studio the other day and noticed that the D-string on my variax 700 is making a buzzing sound when I record. I triple checked i wasn't getting a fret buzz anywhere. The more I looked into it the more is sounds like a distortion on the piezo.

I've attached a sound file of it. My chain is Variax > VDI > Pod X3 Pro > USB > Logic Studio 9.

I've recorded it completely clean and have included a comparison of the G string too.. the attachment kept failing so its here: http://public.me.com/sb00020

I'm guessing I'm going to need to get it replaced. Does anyone have any experience with similar problems? How long did it take to be repaired etc? I'm in the UK if that makes any difference.

Spider Jam questions

Hello,

Is the Spider Jam amp in the same family as the Spider IV line or is this a Spider III line? Is there such thing as a Spider IV Jam amp?

Also is the Shortboard (older version) compatible with the Spider Jam amp or only is the MKII unit?

Variax Bass Pickguard Material

I just love the color of the Variax Bass Pickguard and would like to have a custum one made for my Variax in the same material.

1. Is it Black Pearl or is it Silver Pearl?

2. Where would I be able to buy a blank sheat of this material?

Backtrack Flashes Blue - but won't capture.

I recorded one band rehearsal with forced capture and then transfered the files to my IMAC and deleted them from the backtrack. It will only flash blue now and won't capture at all.

I saw a thread about hidden files that may be telling the unit it is still full? It seems everyone in that thread in May had to send their units back.

Do I need to send this back or is there now a fix?

Please advise what I need to do, as the unit does nothing now...

Benefits of running latest Gearbox vs. an old version?

After not using my recording/practicing computer for a long time, I blew the dust off and fired her up again, but the old UX2 drivers didn't want to load for some reason. Long story short, all that's fixed, and I'm now running the 3.4.3.8 driver, 1.01 firmware, and Monkey 1.31.

The only question is whether there's any benefit to updating the old Gearbox from 1.02 (yeah, it's been a really long time... lol) to the latest 3.70. Are there any improvements to be gained in terms of functionality, stability, etc.? Or is it just simply a huge, unified driver that I don't need which includes all other Line 6 products?

Sorry if this question is a bit esoteric, but 1.02 seems to work fine, so in this case I'm somewhat of a believer in "if it ain't broke, dont fix it". Anyone happen to know?

DL 4 bug!

Hi!

I have noticed a BIG problem with my Delay Modeler unit. I'm not able to save any multi-head presets!

I've owned a DL 4 earlier, and I don't remember it having this problem. I peeked inside, and noticed the EPROM version to be v1.6. Could it be possible for me to upgrade the EPROM-chip to a newer version? Could it be possible for you to send me a new chip? I think I could manage the replacement myself, or at least a qualified repairman should be able to do it. This would save me so much time, since I'm a professional musician, and I really couldn't wait to much for a new pedal.

Gearbox plug-in not working in QAM Promise

Howdy. I'm running a Guitar Port, Line Monkey 1.31, Gearbox 3.7 and QAM Promise 4.60. When I activate an auxilary channel in Promise and select the any of the VST Gearbox plug-ins (Mono, Mono Stereo, Stereo), and then go into the plug-in UI, I can see the Gearbox UI as I'd expect, and can use it just as if I was running Gearbox directly through my Guitar Port. However, for whatever reason, the plugin itself is not actually working - when I select any tone, or tweak with the effects and settings of a tone, it has no change whatsoever in the tone that Promise plays back (which is the tone and effects that I used to originally record the guitar signal).

The other plug-ins seem to work just fine in Promise. The one thing I'm wondering about is the fact that the Gearbox plug-in UI does have a message in the bottom right half that says:

READY TO ACTIVATE:

Line 6 Monkey will run and activate for you. Want to purchase? Click Purchase button in Line 6 Monkey.

Do I need to purchase Gearbox separately as a plug-in?

No sound when volume pedal is selected!

Hi!

I have a POD X3 Live.

I've been using it for a few months now and have done 2 gigs with it.

Both of the gigs and all of the practices went fine.

And since the end of August, I haven't used it because we haven't had any gigs.

And when I took it out of the box to use it last week there was no sound coming out.

I tried direct out and line out. None of them worked.

I fiddled around with it and found out that when I flip to wah pedal mode the sound would come out.

Wah pedal doesn't seem to work, but at least the sound is coming out.

But whenever I flip back to the volume pedal mode then no sound again.

So far I tried doing a factory reset but hasn't helped. Still the same situation.

Your help is much appreciated!

Variax 300 Strange behaviour

Dear Line6 R&D,

i got a very strange behaviour of my Variax 300:

after having played a very fast solo, all presets starting custom1 to special, sounding the same as custom 1.

I cannot understand what happened. I just know that my audience was "impressed" but my preset were blow away...

Please, let me know about this strange problem.

I cannot play with a guitar that change random, in the middle of a performance.
