i installed Vyzex editor pocket pod to get new patch downloads and everytime i try to open it, it says that i need to put in a company and serial number and i am not quite sure on what it means

Hi all,

I am looking for part numbers of the flex cable connector on the mainboard of the Variax 500. Also the part number for the other connectors as well if available.

I would prefer manufacture part nubmers versus Line 6 internal part numbers.

Using a Boss FV-500H pedal with the X3 Live

Was wondering how to calibrate this pedal when connecting it to the X3 Live. I connected it to the Pedal 2 Input as an expression pedal. The problem I'm having is the toe down position is minimum and the heel down position is maximum. How do I reverse this? Is this pedal compatible with the X3 Live?

M13 Switching off

Hi,

I have had my M13 for 11 months now and it has never let me down during rehersals or gigs.

Yesterday it started switching off the on again. Is this a known issue? I live in the UK please advise.

How to run Ipod into HD147 for playing along with?

Hi,

I am a new owner of the Line 6 HD147 and I was wondering if there were any suggestions on how to make an auxillary device such as an Ipod work with the HD147 in the same manner the 1/8" input does on the Spider series amps. I do not have a stereo for playback and always used the auxillary input on my old Spider III amp to play along with recordings, and I just became accustomed to this way of doing it. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated on how to defeat this issue.

Some questions/clarifications for a newbie?

Just ordered my new Studio KB37 with PodFarm, Riffworks T4, Ableton Live Lite, and Reason Adapted software included - should be here in about a week. I've been checking out the forum, the Line6 website, some youtube stuff, and thought I would throw out some questions and ask for some clarification from the more knowledgeable veterans of the KB37. Apologies in advance for the ignorance - never touched this thing in my life --- total leap of faith.

1) There is a series of videos here demonstrating the difference between PodFarm in standalone versus as a plug-in. Can the PodFarm that comes with my new KB37 function in BOTH capacities? How does that work exactly? I can see the benefits of both.

2) I've had a POD XT Live for years, but never used it much -- I've always been a "PRS straight into the Marshall" guy, but I need to get with the times. Any thoughts to how this PodXT Live might be used now in conjunction with the new KB37 for recording, etc.? Will the PodFarm SW see the XT Live?

3) Ableton is a recording software, right? So is Riffworks. Which to use?

4) I'm currently running the special "Line6 version" of Riffworks, licensed to my PodXT Live. Is Riffworks T4 a different version entirely, and can I install both simultaneously on the same PC?

5) No one seems to be talking about using the KB37 as a keyboard/synth. Is that what Reason Adapted is for? I am correct in assuming that this software is really a synth modeler for the KB37 keyboard much like the amp models are built for guitar? Any thoughts around how good/bad Reason Adapted is?

6) What's the difference between Gearbox and PodFarm? Preference and why? What happens to Line6 Edit - or is that strictly to edit patches for the PodXT Live?

Spider Valve MkII combo questions

1) do the combos run hot? i know that the modeling portion of the amp is essentially a computer, and we all know computers like to run cool. wouldn't feel very confident about the amp's longevity if it's constantly running hot.

2) will my mk1 shortboard work with this amp? if so, will i be able to do looping w/it?

3) any way to save programs? i know there's no Line 6 Edit support. not sure if there's some other way?

4) is the cabinetry plywood, or particle board/mdf? i saw that the 412 cab is plywood so i'd like to think that that's the case w/the combos.

5) aside from the two preamp tubes and maybe different presets, what's the difference between the mk2's and the originals? features aside, is this newer version supposed to sound better?

Workbench - Pot Resistance - help me learn

I've had my Variax for a couple of years now (love it). I've made a few custom models with Workbench, but not really bothered to try adjusting the settings on the controls page where you can set things like:

Volume Knob Pot Resistance

Tone Knob Pot Resistance

Capacitance

I think I've got a reasonable idea about the Volume Taper (and I think I prefer the "Audio" option instead of the "Linear" default), but I'd like to learn more about the others.

Could anyone comment on how they use these settings, including when it is good to change from the defaults, and also if there are any pages on the Internet you know of where I can read some more - that would be great!
