The most important part of this group, is that you can start a jam yourself.
Just post the backing track, and ask if anyone is interested in recording some guitar parts. Then make sure you post in the discussion when you have enough jammers. When you're happy you have all the jammers recordings, put it together and post it for all to hear ![]()
If the above has already been done by someone else, and you want to know what to do...Basically get yourself the backing track from the discussion thread, then using a DAW (digital audio workstation) application like Audacity (which is free) http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ or REAPER (which is $60 for personal, non business use) http://www.reaper.fm/ put the backing track in one track, then create another track for your guitars, and arm that one to record.
You can record just a wet/processed track , but it's best to record a wet and a dry track seperately, and then you can upload both of them, and your POD Farm/Gearbox/POD tone file and whoever is putting the jam together has more flexbility to edit the sounds to make all the tracks fit together, etc.
REMEMBER: Do not record your guitar track on top of the backing, have them in seperate tracks, so that you can upload the guitar tracks on their own. This helps the person mixing it all together.
A wet track is the finished guitar sound. so it has your effects and amp simulations.
A dry track is just your basic guitar sound before you put any effects on top of it.
Any probs with how to use REAPER, or any other DAW, or how to record generally should be posted on the main forum, and not in this group, as it would be great to keep this group free of support issues, and just focus on the jamming etc. OF course any issues with the actual jam, can be posted here. If you are wondering what I mean by wet and dry tracks, and you don't know how to start recording... HAVE NO FEAR, ROWBI'S HERE!!! I've created some 'how to record' videos focusing on a Toneport UX2, POD XT and a POD X3. Take a look at them in the documents section of this group.
Also for some extra help with REAPER then see the online manual here: http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Thanks for your cooperation.

On the old forum, some of the regular posters used to get together regularly to record guitar tracks to already provided backing tracks. I thought I'd actually get a group together for people to talk about and get together for various jams. Please read through the discussions here if you want to start a jam, participate in a jam or read up about a previous jam. If you just want to listen to all the jams, check them all out here: http://soundclick.com/line6forumjammers
