i believe the 8 black blocks on the LCD is a fault that is still covered for the lifetime of the amp.

sorry to hear that... I happen to know line6 do usually go the extra mile and cover warranty work even when products are a couple of months out of their warranty... but line6 only puts 1 year warranty on amps I think.  so any extended warranty isn't with line6, it's with the store you bought it from.  so as far as line6 is concerned, your warranty ran out after 12 months... so to be honest as you said it's only just gone wrong, line6 are well within their rights to not cover it...

lets be honest here it's annoying, but if Line6 fixed it for you, they'd have to do the same for everyone, and they would have gone out of business a long time ago, and you'd have no amp because the spider III range wouldn't have ever been invented...

Hang on while I take my worn out car tyres back to dunlop to complain they didn't last longer than 20,000 miles, when my neighbours lasted 25,000...
