OK, I just put 2 new songs in my music website. The song on top is "Take It Back2U", which is a semi-original. A singer from Canada, Fembot, did the singing. I have admired her vocals on her original tunes and cover songs for the last 3 years. She has her own music websites on soundclick.com and myspace. The next song down is "The Funky Secret Agent Man" (an original where I did everything). One song has Roland COSM on guitar, and the other song has PodXT on guitar. Edit: On "The Funky Secret Agent Man", the cleanish wah guitar has no amp models, just a DOD 555 distortion pedal for distoshun. Your mission is to figure out which device goes with what song. Who ever gets the correct answer gets this month's virtual Golden Ear award. Please tell me how you like these songs and how they can be improved. Here is the link

One last call for any brave souls that are willing to take this amp model test..........
Hey mate I completely missed this. I'll try to give it a listen in the a.m. and give you a guess. You completely fooled me last time (others, too, as I recall
).
Cheers,

Ok, got a chance to listen, bud. Here's my takes on the takes:
Take it back --
The lack of syncopation betwen the vox and the rhythm, particularly at the beginning, is clunky and distracting. I like each piece individually (I love her voice, btw). Don't like the snare sound at all -- sounds too industrial and doesn't seem to fit the vibe of the song -- the beautiful vocals, the atmospheric keys, it just feels like a clash.
All the synth sounds are amazing.
Guitar solo is excellent, as we've come to expect - I really like the way you play.
Solo sounds kinda COSM-y to me, so I'll guess Roland there.
The Funky Secret Agenty Man --
Awesome. I'm grinning from ear to ear as I listen to the first verse. All the hallmark Aardvarkian elements -- I like that you didn't pulverize your vocals nearly as much.
The bass sounds a tad too lound in my ears, but it may be these earbuds, I dunno. Or I may just be going deaf.
This is one of the best I've heard from you in a long time. Whimsical, well crafted, and your voice sounds better than any other song I remember. Frankly I think this guitar sounds COSM-y to me, too, so I'm in a bit of a bind. Guess I'll just guess Pod here because I'm too lazy to go back and change the other one, lol.
Ok, so that's it for now. In the future, you should post over in the Lounge when you've got a new tune up so it gets more exposure.
Cheers,

fester2k,
Thank you very much for listening & for your elaborate response! I forgot to mention that the cleanish wah guitar on "The Funky Secret Agent Man" has no amp models, just DOD 555 distortion pedal for a little distortion. I should have mentioned that earlier. Not sure if that affects your answer. You are the first person to mention that "Take It Back2U" has timing issues. If it does, it is purely my fault, not Fembot's. I recorded her vocals first (an a capella Fembot recording). I tried a 120 BPM drum beat and moved her vocals (the entire track, in one chunk) around to suit. I have never recorded a song like that before. I thought it matched OK, but you are probably right. Though, my wife is never wrong & she didn't notice it
. Fembot didn't use any metronome, drum box or original CD recording to keep her timing, so I was just amazed that her timing was as consistent as it was. Glad you liked "The Funky Secret Agent Man", I appreciate the compliments. I will reveal the amp model answers before too long.
OK, here are the answers to the amp model mystery: PodXT guitar is on "Take It Back2U" and Roland COSM guitar on "The Funky Secret Agent Man". I hereby give fester2000 the virtual Iron Cross of Bravery for being the only person in this forum to take a shot at the amp model mystery. And I give myself the virtual Golden Goof-Up award for not mentioning about the DOD distortion pedal wah guitar in 'The Funky Secret Agent Man' earlier.
