Custom Tone

So I just got a brand new Pod x3 Live to go along with my line 6 spider II 210 and I love them both. I was cruising your website and came across something called custom tone. I saw an endless sea of tones that I would love to get on my rig. I then spent 4 hours trying to figure this process out. I first downloaded line 6 monkey and got that to work. I updated everything and activated everything just like it told me. Then I downloaded line 6 edit to get the tones to work. After struggling with that, I finally found a on a forum that line 6 edit isn't compatible with my pod x3 live. I found that I had to download a program called Pod Farm. So I did that hoping that would solve all my problems. But when I try running the program it just tells me that there is "No compatible line 6 usb devices have been detected" even though it is connected via USB and is turned on. I am at a loss and can't figure this out. I really want to be able to access all those tones because it is going to save sooooo much time to just download a tone and have it on my Pod x3 live rather than trying to manually figure out all the tones, especially those Edge sounds. If you could guide me through what I need to download and run in order to get these to work it would be great. Keep in mind I am new at this and could use a step by step guide from the initial downloading process all the way to the sound being on my pod x3 live. Thanks a bunch!

Re: Custom Tone

You need GearBox. It is the application for editing the X3 including saving and restoring bundles and individual patches. You can also load patches with Monkey but it works much better in GearBox. Hope that helps.

BTW - the free version of PodFarm that comes with the X3 is only the plugin version, you must run it in your DAW.

Re: Custom Tone

Furhter to timowens' reply (which is correct), Line 6 edit does not work with the X3. You need Gearbox.

Here's a video that may help:

RE: Custom Tone

Hello,

The answers above are correct. You'll want to use Gearbox as your editor. It is a free download from www.line6.com/software.

Once you have downloaded and installed that you can use it to sync up downloaded tones from custom tone. Check out this video tutorial to learn how to do that.
