i recently bought a pod studio ux2 about last week. i have been recording fairly well until about yesterday
everytime i load pod farm, i get a very loud noise at the outputs. this noise comes up on the level monitors in pod farm
and in adobe audition which i use to record. the noise does not come out to the phones output.
i have since tried reinstalling pod farm, updating drivers, reinstalling drivers and changing the usb ports of the device and properly configuring them
this loud noise overpowers any input i might want to record thus making it impossible to record anything other than the noise.
i have seen other posts similar to this and have also tried plugging and unplugging the usb ports. i have also tried turning the phantom power switch on and off a number of times before, during and after reconnecting.
the last thing i did before the problem arised was try to monitor my yamaha psr 1100 (basic midi keyboard) which i had also connected to my pc from adobe audition onto my ux2, which i had done a number of times before.
i bought this item in tom lee hong kong while on vacation and am now back in the philippines.
please help. i am completely at a loss. i dont know what to do.
if not, are there other programs which i can use to configure the ux2 other than pod farm? i dont know if this is a software or a hardware problem.
Hi,
A few questions: what is your computer's hardware specs? What operating system is installed? You mentioned connecting a Yamaha PSR 1100 keyboard... into which input? Let us know so we can have some more information available to better understand what might be causing your issue.

i use a dell inspiron 9100 with windows xp sp2 32 bit. its a relatively old laptop. are there known issues when connecting the ux2 to dell laptops?
i connected the yamaha psr1100 using its usb connection directly to the pc using it as a standard midi keyboard. it was not connected to the ux2. i just used the ux2 as monitor. with or without the keyboard connected, the loud noise is still there.
i tried using a usb hub but the problem still persists. i think that its a hardware problem because when i dont use the ux2 for a long time (around 6 hours or so) the problem goes away. also, when the noise seems to stop, i can only use the item for around 10-20 minutes then the humming comes back up again.
Hi,
It could be a hardware issue. You should definitely make sure that you have the latest software installer, of course. This would be available from our Downloads page.
Honestly, the best way to determine if it's a bad UX2 would be to install the latest software of ours on a different computer. If the same UX2 behaves identically on the 2nd system, then yes... it's something internal to the UX2.
I have seen bad USB cables cause issue, too. If you have a different USB cable, please try that too.
