I know the Line 6 XPS & VDI FAQs state that the only supported power sulppy for the Variax 300 is the XPS Mini. Does this mean the 300 doesn't work at all with the XPS A/B power supply, or just that any problemas are not supported. Does anyone have any experience trying the A/B with the 300? Does it work at all?
In particular, since the XLR output capability of the 600/700 series seems to be in the A/B unit rather than in the guitar itself, is it possible to make use of the XLR output of the A/B unit with a 300 model guitar?
the problem i believe is the ab doesnt put out enough power for the 300 which uses more power than the others for some reason. xps puts out 8.1 volt to the guitar not sure what the ab does . someone else did try and the guitar wouldnt power up.
ive never seen the inside of one of those but i imagine the board thats in it would prohibit it being used unpowered just to connect your guitar to xlr while powering the guitar with batteries.
on the other hand converting a stereo (trs ) cable to male xlr ..... planet waves makes an adapter . guitar center or daddys has them. around 10 bucks either stereo or mono to xlr
none of the guitars have xlr outputs ther basicly an ethernet output. i guess they decided to add that potion with the ab. oh forgot to mention i said the 300 needs 8 volts. but the amperage can be lower than the 2000 ma of the origonal power supply. someone here was using a 800 ma powersupply and the guitar worked fine. thats 9 v 800 ma
i have an XPS A/B i bought off someone here on this forum and use it with my V300 all the time. Never had any problems (yet?).
well thats good to know someone else here had a problem but im glad you cleared that up
I've been using the XPS A/B box with two different model 300 guitars for a couple of years and never ever had a problem. It works perfectly, just don't hook up the XLR output to a PA using phantom power.
Joe
good to know. i aws told by someone on here that it didnt work for them . that might have been why but i wasnt aware of that till now thanks ![]()
I have both the XPS A/B and the XPS Mini. Never had a problem with either of them.
Since I got the A/B I have decided to let my Mini go on Ebay.
