kb37 as a real sound card

so your telling us that we have to use the pod farm or some audio software to hear the line inputs on the kb37? this again is misleading in your advertising. and if I use podfarm I am getting distortion on the line in even when I delete all amps and other devices from the podfarm audio chain. I also don't get a dry channel it still runs through the amps or whatever else is in the audio chain. also I am using the line 1 and 2 inputs, why am I getting audio on the 3 and 4? I am not using an spdif input????

RE: kb37 as a real sound card

Hi,

Yes, all of our TonePort/POD Studio USB hardware audio interface units use the POD Farm (or GearBox) software to manage the active input source.

The noisy issue you're describing sounds to be more of a USB port issue. I'd recommend that you try a different direct USB port on your computer to connect to.

Activating the Tuner function in the software generally lowers the perceived audio signal level quite a bit. For silent tuning, obviously you can click on the Mute button.

RE: kb37 as a real sound card

Hi,

  1. The Tuner behavior doesn't sound like correct behavior. The audio volume shouldn't "increase".

  2. The USB suggestion is something we always suggest, particularly when a user hasn't even provided us with any system specific info such as:

Host computer hardware components, Operating System version, installed versions of our software, etc.

I didn't skim your question at all; we can't read minds here. A generalized question usually gets a generalized answer until we can get more specific information to help to user out.

In regards to your last post: the dry signal refers to the dry/direct signal of your input source. It doesn't go through any software processing.

Secondly, regarding the phantom power statement. Are you using a condenser mic that requires phantom power? The fact that you're still getting a signal after turning off phantom power suggests that you're not using a condenser mic. But again, I'm just offering a guess because you haven't told us specifically what components exist in your setup.

Please do let us know. We're here to help you all. But also understand that without specific info about user's systems, we can't really provide the best possible response on the boards here.

  So:

  1. Host computer hardware details

  2. Operating System software version

  3. Line 6 Software installed (version #'s)

  4. Connecting to direct USB port.

  5. Try a different USB cable?

This last suggestion points towards a possible hardware issue test:

  6. If you install the latest USB device driver and software on a different host computer, connect the KB37 and run the same scenario tests with it. If the exact identical behavior persists, it's a safe bet that there's a hardware issue in you KB37.

RE: kb37 as a real sound card

Hello, I think I need to understand a couple of key things here. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? In other words, what are you expecting should happen and what exactly is happening? After reading through this a couple of times, it may just be a configuration issue. I'd certainly like to set this up here and see if I can reproduce what you are experiencing. Can you give me a set up recipe so I can try to repro?

  Thanks!

You can run but you cannot hide
This is widely known
And what you plan to do with your foolish pride
When you're all by yourself alone
Once you tell somebody the way that you feel
You can feel it beginning to ease
I think it's true what they say about the squeaky wheel
Always getting the grease.
