so your telling us that we have to use the pod farm or some audio software to hear the line inputs on the kb37? this again is misleading in your advertising. and if I use podfarm I am getting distortion on the line in even when I delete all amps and other devices from the podfarm audio chain. I also don't get a dry channel it still runs through the amps or whatever else is in the audio chain. also I am using the line 1 and 2 inputs, why am I getting audio on the 3 and 4? I am not using an spdif input????
also why does the audio level jump when I switch to the tuner? does it mono the inputs??
Hi,
Yes, all of our TonePort/POD Studio USB hardware audio interface units use the POD Farm (or GearBox) software to manage the active input source.
The noisy issue you're describing sounds to be more of a USB port issue. I'd recommend that you try a different direct USB port on your computer to connect to.
Activating the Tuner function in the software generally lowers the perceived audio signal level quite a bit. For silent tuning, obviously you can click on the Mute button.

there is no noise problem when I use the mic input directly in to the audio program I use. and the switching to the tuner does increase the audio volume whether it's supposed to or not. the issue with podfarm is that it's sending the line 1 and 2 inputs through the three and for inputs in the mixer also. I don't have a spdif cable hooked up so there should not be any sound on channel 3 and 4. the distortion is caused by the being double the audio output(?). when I killed the volume in the mixer for the line 3 and 4 sends the distortion went away. a little quick with the usb problem there perry.also I feel you just skimmed my post and did not read it at all. your answers are of no help. seriously disappointed guys.
maybe I don't understand in the podfarm mixer what dry verses processed sound means but I assumed dry meant no effects. so does it still run through the audio chain??
also. If I shut the phantom power of and turn the mic volume all the way down I still get a fairly loud audio signal through mic input 1L is this normal? and I haven't tested it on mic input 2R so I'm not sure it happens on both.
Hi,
1. The Tuner behavior doesn't sound like correct behavior. The audio volume shouldn't "increase".
2. The USB suggestion is something we always suggest, particularly when a user hasn't even provided us with any system specific info such as:
Host computer hardware components, Operating System version, installed versions of our software, etc.
I didn't skim your question at all; we can't read minds here. A generalized question usually gets a generalized answer until we can get more specific information to help to user out.
In regards to your last post: the dry signal refers to the dry/direct signal of your input source. It doesn't go through any software processing.
Secondly, regarding the phantom power statement. Are you using a condenser mic that requires phantom power? The fact that you're still getting a signal after turning off phantom power suggests that you're not using a condenser mic. But again, I'm just offering a guess because you haven't told us specifically what components exist in your setup.
Please do let us know. We're here to help you all. But also understand that without specific info about user's systems, we can't really provide the best possible response on the boards here.
So:
1. Host computer hardware details
2. Operating System software version
3. Line 6 Software installed (version #'s)
4. Connecting to direct USB port.
5. Try a different USB cable?
This last suggestion points towards a possible hardware issue test:
6. If you install the latest USB device driver and software on a different host computer, connect the KB37 and run the same scenario tests with it. If the exact identical behavior persists, it's a safe bet that there's a hardware issue in you KB37.

sorry didn't realize I need to re-enter my pc specifics every time I asked a question.
asus a8n32 sli-delux amd 1.8
usb pci-e card dedicated to the kb37
xp up to date
line 6 drivers 3.4.3.8
usb firmware 1.08
flash memory 1.03
pod farm 1.11
monkey 1.31
and I use propellerheads record.
my mic is a rodes nt1a condenser mic.
(be nice if I could just add this info to my profile but I don't see that option)
in my last communication I pointed out the the audio distortion is caused by the fact that pod farm is sending the line 1 and 2 inputs to three and four also. as soon as I turned the volume down on the three and four sends no distortions.the quality of the recorded sound is fine.
the other problem is that if I select dry signal it still process the signal through any effects/amps in the chain.
the pre amp issue is only present when I have pod farm or a DAW program running. I would say it runs at about half volume without the phantom power and the mic volume on the kb37 turned all the way down. when I don't have a program running and have the kb37 set to monitor the input signal it does nothing, though I suspect it's because of the software soundcard mixer stuff.
I don't have a second pc to test this problem on. but like I wrote earlier the recording is fine. even with my old set up it doesn't have too many audio artifacts at asio settings of the buffer 512 and a depth of 16bit and I'm often running multiple apps that use sound.

Hello, I think I need to understand a couple of key things here. What exactly are you trying to accomplish? In other words, what are you expecting should happen and what exactly is happening? After reading through this a couple of times, it may just be a configuration issue. I'd certainly like to set this up here and see if I can reproduce what you are experiencing. Can you give me a set up recipe so I can try to repro?
Thanks!

Hello,
It's been a couple of days since we've heard from you. We're going to assume your question has been answered and close this thread. If you still have questions please feel free to open a new question with us and we will answer your questions accordingly. Thanks!

so I only get 2 days to answer you but it takes you eight days to answer me. hmmm. seems a little lopsided. My question is not answered. and this ridiculas system of help is complete crap. I gave you enough info to try and figure out the issue and still you haven't even ansered these questions. although I do like the suggestion that maybe I am misunderstanding the configuration. but no suggestion on what the mis understanding is.
the issue is that I am getting sound input on sends 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 so I get a doubling of the sound on the output causing distortion.
yes turning down the mixer volume solves this problem but since I'm not using an spdif cable I don't understand why there is anything on 3 and 4.
also even though I have a condenser mic I am getting about half level sound with the phantom power off and the volume knob turned down. but only when I'm in pod studio or my DAW program.
any thing else you need to know??
expect your answer in 2 days this time.
Hello,
Thanks for your response. It was very helpful. I'm sorry you feel like our system is "crap". I'll do my best to help answer your question. If you feel like you are not getting th eanswer you need here please feel free to give us a call.
In fact, please give us a call. Ask for me, my name is Rick and I'm the tech lead here.
Or better yet, how about I call you? If that's cool when's a good time? Private message me your number and we'll continue to work on this. Thanks.
