Very frustrated customer

I owned a PODxt live pedal and was very happy with it and all the software that came with it. decided to upgrade to a POD X3 Live pedal back in february and am very happy with the pedal itself but cant seem to get it to do anything with my computer. Tried to get riffworks to work with it a few months back and had no success it kept sayin that it either was not registered or not connected which it was both because it is showin up on the site where i registered it and my computer is recognizing that "POD X3 Live is connected". Now i am attempting once again to get all this to work so i can use my favorite software Riffworks for recording but now even Line 6 Monkey is showing that it is not connected even tho i am signed in and everything is obviously plugged in correctly or my computer would not recognize it. PLEASE HELP. I am very pleased with everything Line 6 has to offer but i paid over $400 for this and believe i should be able to use all the Perks that come with it. Please Help!!!  Just to make sure i do get some kind of reply my email is jeffro38358@yahoo.com. Thanks

Re: Very frustrated customer

What computer and operating system are you using? Line 6 does not yet support Winfows 7 or Mac Snow Leopard (10.6.x).

Re: Very frustrated customer

There's a known bug in Monkey re: recognizing registration in some cases. There's usually a 'Remind Me Later'  button that allows you to bypass the message and proceed. As far as  I know there are no downstream issues - let the Monkey do its thing despite its message and things seem to be OK for most people.

Re: Very frustrated customer

I am having a very similar problem. When I load the Gearbox program, it states that the USB cable isn't attached, even though it is. I tried turning things off and on again, connecting directly instead of through a hub and nothing. I was wondering if you have to have the X3 on when the pc is powered up so that it gets recognized. I was working at one point, so I don't know what has happened. Obviously, it's a lot easier to program the X3 Live with the software, so would like to be able to do this.

Frustrated too.

Re: Very frustrated customer

No, you don't have to have the X3 on when you power up the pc. You do have to have it on when you launch Gearbox.

If you haven't already made sure of this, be sure you have USB 2.0 ports. The X3 simply will not work properly with the computer on USB 1.x. Try a different USB port.

If you've tried all your USB 2.0 ports and it's still not working, I would suggest, for both of you, that you manually uninstall all Line 6 software, including Monkey, and start over. Start by downloading/installing Monkey again and then run Monkey to download and install all other software. When necessary, use the 'Remind me Later' button to proceed. Pay close attention to Monkey's instructions re: when to disconnect/connect the X3's USB cable to the computer.

Good luck.

Re: Very frustrated customer

Thanks Silverhead, I guess I will try the tedious process of doing all of this again if it might make it work again. I also don't understand why it is that the software doesn't recognize, once you are connected to the Line 6 site, that you have already registered the products, which for me now also include the Spider IV 75 watt amp and the FBV pedal, just purchased this week.

Re: Very frustrated customer

I know it's tedious, and I only recommend it because I've seen Line 6 tech support (who don't monitor this forum on weekends) recommend this in similar situations. So I know it can fix situations where the intial installation, for whatever reason, is flaky.

As far as the software not recognizing the registration, I believe that is a known and acknowledged bug by Line 6. I presume a future version of Monkey will have it fixed, but we'll see.

Let us know how it goes.

Re: Very frustrated customer

if you're talking about riffworks T4, you should just be able to download this from www.sonomawireworks.com as line6 doesn't make riffworks, it's made by another company.  use their free version, and if ti doesn't work, check out their forum, as the line6 versions of riffworks are going end of life soon so it's best to just stick with the main sonoma versions.   you can also crossgrade your old version (which wont support the X3) to the riffworks standard from sonoma which is what I use (the paid for one) with my X3L and it works fine on XP, vista and windows 7, so it must be an issue related to your specific hardware (as suggested about USB ports above) or your install of your operating system.

Re: Very frustrated customer

Thanks again silverhead. I did what you suggested, and even though some of the stuff I had to guess myself as to how to get everything running, I was able to. I think that they would be better off without the whole Monkey thing myself, and instead, have everything limited to particular products. For instance, after you download Gearbox, I thought that it would automatically load the drivers, but no, the drivers are a separate dowload themself, adn without having downlaoded them, the PC can't "see" the Live 3's USB connection. Very convoluted in my opinion. Glad i have enough familairty with other problematic drivers such as M-Audio's Firewire 1814 audiocard.

Re: Very frustrated customer

Jeffro -  Rowbi's advice is good. Another thing to look into is whether you can transfer the license you paid for from the old pedal to your X3. Have a look here:

http://line6.com/community/docs/DOC-4738

I haven't read this myself so don't know whether it's actually applicable to your situation but the title suggests it might be.

Good luck with it.
