Biography:
Born and raised in the coal regions of Northeastern Pennsylvania, where Classic Rock is just Rock and 80's Hair is still current music. My first guitar hero was actually Buck Owens on Hee Haw, which I religiously watched every Saturday night with my grandfather. I wanted a red, white and blue guitar like his.
Started taking piano lessons at about age 10 but developed an ear for rock guitar starting around 14 or so. When I told my piano teacher that I was giving it up to play guitar, she told me, "You'll never amount to anything because you'll never practice."
I bought my first electric guitar at 15 back in 1985, and cut my musical teeth on the heavy rhythms of Iron Maiden and Metallica. Started playing in garage bands soon after while learning all of the 80's Hair and Rush that I could stand. Had a long standing gigging band with revolving members from the late 80's to early 90's. Played pick up and sat in with bands in my college days at Penn State.
After I got married and moved to Virginia to pursue a PhD in Chemistry (which I eventually opted out of for a career in software development), I put music on hold for a long time, only seriously getting back into playing around 2004. Putting together a home studio and recording my own music served only to rekindle my interest in gigging again instead of replacing that urge like it was supposed to. After several false starts, I joined Crystal's Wild Child in November 2007 after a grueling set of auditions. Thanks, Crystal!
I've been a happily married guy for the last 16 years with a lovely wife and three great kids. So happy to be rocking again. You can also sometimes catch me sitting in on lead guitar with the praise and worship band at Effort Baptist Church.
