Yes indeed, BIG congratulations to Line 6, because this is the third forum they have had since I have been registered, and not once, that is to say, not one single time, has changing the forum layout and software actually improved anything at all. All the changes have been for the worse.
That's not easy to do!
I own a Variax 500 electric, a 700 acoustic, and a 705 bass. It used to be possible to log on to forums dedicated to those specific instruments (well to those specific families of instruments, actually) but those dedicated forums have now been abolished. So if I ever have a problem with one of those instruments, or if I need some particular bit of knowledge or advice, I know exactly where there is no point in looking for help: the Official Forum!
Clever. Very clever.
There used to be specific forums dedicated to specific families of hardware and those too have been abolished. And the reason I came here was to give some further thought to a possible purchase of the Pod X3 Pro; I wanted to see what kind of opinions current users had, and if, inter alia, there was any word on adding the very basic and necessary sync-to-DAW-tempo function. But no, those forums too no longer exist. Yay!
Hey, guess what I have just decided not to buy!
PS This interface here is dog-slow. And the whole forum in its entirety is confusing and difficult to navigate.
Nice choice of software, guys!
Hello,
You are pretty much wrong on every point. Let's break it down.

You are most welcome to your opinion and we respect that here so thanks for the feedback.
Compoletely untrue. Did you notice the SUPPORT link in the red banner above? Here, let me leave you the link:

Hopefully that helps. Oh, also, I did a video tutorial on how to get around the forums complete with tips on how to find what you're looking for. You should probably watch that too..

That's too bad that you decided not to buy the X3 Pro. It rocks, I own one and I love it. Oh, if the interface is slow then it must be your computer. Just a quick reference. I'm currently on an Intel Pentium 4 PC (not even a dual core) running at 2.8 GHz and the forums are nice and fast.
Thanks again for your post.

I greatly respect Millers opinion and although I dont agree with all the points of the original poster---this forum layout is completely unintuative.
I dont even post here anymore because the layout is so confusing. Now granted , my purpose was to commune with other Line6 users--and that doesnt seem to be aligned with Line6's goal. But aside from purely technical solutions to hardware and software there has always been a great need from users to get good sounds and Now, that is all but gone because so many experienced users have jumped ship because of this format. When users cant get help with the frustration of getting good modeling tones--they look elsewhere.
Also, many of the extremely useful longtime technical users(I was not one) were stripped of their points as if what they did for the company was trash. Thats was not only rude, but it was also a bad business move because you never, ever, alienate your core users.
Well, I'll weigh in too.
I don't really see anything unintuitive about the layout.
Support
Amplifiers Support
POD Support
Computer Based Recording Support
etc.
And within each of those:
Discussions, Documents
Seems pretty organized to me. And if you frequent a certain discussion board, just bookmark it in your browser. Simple.
I also don't give a rip about losing my points. I mean, the stars looked good by my name. But who really cares? 5 stars and $6.50 will get you a cup of coffee at Starbucks. Nobody that shows up at my gigs has any idea how many stars I have.
I stopped helping people a long time ago, all I do is hang out in the lounge. ![]()
BS dude. U stopped helping people.? I read post regularly where u give avice or suggestions. Maybe not like before, but your still u.
eg. a slingy tut vid. lol.
I totally agree with you and the author of this thread! As much as I enjoy using my Pod Xt Live and am a totally satisfied Line 6 customer; I cannot support the fact that truth and controversy are not on the menu on this forum as well; especially over issues that concern and affect our artistic well being in one way or another. I have a lot more to say regarding the insideous goings on within this forum and the previous forums but my post was of course denied and discarded. The minute **** hits the fan; whoops, it's forum renewal time...What ever happenned to free speech anyway?...
+1 to Mr Blister. If you have to make a tutorial video for your forum, it's probably not intuitive. Personally, I did'nt see anything wrong with the old forum. Other than that annoying searchable data base of unhappy customers and dodgy releases.

I would describe this forum as sophisticated.

There were other internal reasons for the upgrade. It wasn't like we woke up one day and said "hey, let's change everythign for the heck of it, wouldn't that be awesome?"
I appreciate the feedback though.

Hey! Theres a winky! Jus' kiddin.
Haha. I know. At first I was a little angry at the OP becasue I'm so vested in this forum and I really want to make it as easy to use as possible. But I understand that the platform is inherently complex at first and does take some getting used to. The reason why I made the tutorial was to show some of the cool and powerful tools that you can do with this. Not all people may find them useful but I think most will.

L6M,
Just letting you know I learned one useful tidbit from the first video: the "Your Stuff" "Discussions" links make it easier to jump between the forums I frequent. I hadn't figured that one out before. Any chance the spell check will return?
i like the new forum--i really like the Recent Content on my Your View page (configurable, neat!) that brings all new content regardless of category to immediate attention--a quick scan of that and i can see what's up. love the fact that all of the threads i have posted to are in my profile. i don't see the barriers. i guess i'm not a fan of the Groups and i don't really care about the Friends feature (probably a generational thing--i don't txt, twitter or facebook either but i'm not going to knock people who make the most of those things.) i haven't mastered a lot of the content stuff but this forum seems to make it much easier to share photos and other files.

Return? It never left. Check the upper right hand corner of the post edit widget. There is a little green check mark with "abc" above it. Click on it.
First I didn't like the new forum, too. But this was due to my laziness.
After a bit trying this and that, I'm almost completely satisfied.
I can find and do everything I want very quickly.
