Hey folks, looks like Vettaville has started its countdown again. Any ideas what it might be this time? They've already launced the spider iv & spider valve ii so do we think it could be something variax or vetta related? I heard mention of a new stomp box (m13?), could that be it?
Cheers.
Feel free to have another look
Please note: This info has been unconfirmed and subject to change without notice* Its seems that in the M9 Stompbox modeler lots of enhancements (when compared to the current M13 stompbox modeler) are being implemeneted. underneath we try to give you the lowdown on what's in* there.. There will be more effects in there as in the current V.104 software version of M13 Particle Verb will be in there, a modulated reverb ala Octo verb. A clean octaver inspired by the EBS octaver is added Added are different EQ (4 or 5 different ones) Intelligent pitchshifting alike in Spider IV and Spider Valve MkII Pitchglide alike the Spider IV and Spider Valve MkII series Different wah's alike the POD X3 models Dimensions 10.5" x 6.5". It can not do 4 cable method, no FX loop. however M13 can.. Volume boost in the Chorus is fixed when using it with the mix at 50%. The M9 will be Monkey update-able with a USB to Midi cable Improved Flangers and Phasers Well, there are couple new versions of the flangers based the MXR Flanger and ADA Flanger. The Analog Flanger and Jet Flanger are left alone. Some guys love them as is. There are new versions added called the AC Flanger and the 80A Flanger. Phaser has been redone because it didn't quite do that VH thing. So added a "model" called Script Phaser. It has one parameter, SPEED, so it can't be put into a crazy place. Basically the LFO opens up a bit higher than the Phaser currently in M13. M13 is updatable as you all know, after the update for the M13, the M9 and M13 will be all the same, just different form factors for different jobs. M13 IS your pedalboard, and M9 goes ON your pedalboard... Sweet
This looks really, really amazing, except for one major shortcoming -- no loop means you either run all the fx before your amp or all of them in the loop. But typically OD/Distortion stomps are useless in an effects loop, so it looks like you'll only be able to actually use the preamp stomps or the mods/delays/verbs. Seems a shame when this really looks like an all in one solution.
I wonder if L6 is going to release a similar product that's *only* their amp modeling? That would be pretty slick, IMHO, b/c you could presumably get all the goodness of L6's strongest component -- their amp modeling -- and pick and choose whatever outboard gear you might want.
Just my $0.02, of course.

The AM4 modeler was just this however, it didn't get teh warm reception we thought it would.

I agree, no loop is a big minus. I don't inderstand when you mix stomp type distortions with delay type stuff you need a loop. It's pretty much a given in this day and age. Personally I don't care about the distortion stomps, I care more about the auto wah stuff. How do they sound in the loop of the SV, because that's where I'd put the M9. Sounds interesting though, might have to try one out.

I'm with you -- even with this shortcoming, I'd still consider it (depending on the price) because I'd ignore the stomps and just use the mods/verbs/looper/delays/pitch shifter.
I guess if they're going to go this route, it'd be nice to have an "M7" with nothing but fx that typically go post amp.

I think line 6's modeling has gone up some notches since then..
See what some people are doing with a liverpool pedal, maybe you can add a Tonecore module like that..? Just a thought
Hope your doing good yourself Mr. Miller

Hans
As I'm sure you've seen "M13 IS your pedalboard, and M9 goes ON your pedalboard", so it's a different kinda user.
Since I've used the pitch and harmony stuff on Spider IV I'd say it's a whole bunch of pedalstuff in a small package.
Yeah the more I think about it the more I'm liking it. Might be just what I need. I been searching for something for effects with my modded HD100 and I'm not really planning on getting a MKII. The M13's are big and bulky and run $499. The M9 is slim and trim, and may not have a bad price all things considered. I'll still have to try it out though, especially my IH that L6 put together just for me.
Hans, your giving me hope. How well does the IH and pitchshift track?
$399 price tag, that kinda sucks. Should have the effects loop for that price.
Does it have a noise gate and a compressor?
