Online Virtual Band!?!?!?

I truely believe that there are other real musicians out there in the world, but they are often so hard to find.

These days a lot of people conduct their whole lives online... they use email texting and IM instead of calling people. They use Facebook as a social interaction experience, probably where in the past you would go down the pub.

So why not start a band online?

I realise that this has actually happened already, and there is an online band or two out there, but I thought it might be an interesting way to have a laugh.

Is anyone else interested in giving it a go and trying to write a few songs (if that's even possible over the internet), perhaps for a myspace page, just for kicks?

I've been wanting to do something like this for a long time. So yes, count me in! I beleive this could turn out to be lots of fun.

I've been doing the Rifflink thing for a few years, not quite a band, more like hundreds of guitar players. Tommy Lee is doing the Public Record thing which is really cool if you guys haven't checked that out. He even gave me a shout out. Anyways great idea.

Cool -- I hadn't heard of the Public Record thing. I've been meaning to tell you for awhile that I listened to something you posted about a month ago (maybe 2?) of you "noodling" -- it sounded freaking fantastic! You've got great chops, and I'm not surprised you got a shout out from a pro musician. Well deserved, mate!

It's pretty fun, they are auditioning all kinds of submissions for the final record. The songs are already written but raw sounding. Each week a new song is ready for download and an old one is closed.

perhaps anyone with some drumming skills would be cool to get onboard... and of course any other musicians of any kind..

wow, I've been looking for something like that for a while now. I've yet to try it out, but other similar systems I've tried are either lacking in features (where this one doesn't seem to be) or the service just doesn't work yet because it's not fully released.

So I'll certainly be giving it a good test and if it works well, perhaps we'll give it a go for the online band

so we've got 2 guitarists (1 can also play a bit of keys) and a drummer... it's shaping up nicely.

that leaves bass and vocals if someone wants to join in.. drop me a PM

hey, Rowbi...I haven't played my bass in a few years but I'm willing to give it a try. I can also help with a bit of keys....guitar is my main instrument but I guess we all do a bit of everything, don't we...lol

great, thanks!!!

I think I have a man for the job....he's been working with me on several cover bands for a few years now...and he's a line6 user too...lol...plays the guitar, bass and sings - with a powerful voice...we currently have a classic rock/pop power-trio and he does the majority of the vocals...I'll send him and email and give him a call. I'll let you know soon.
