LOL!  Those old Silvertones really were some butt-ugly guitars, pbear! 

Back in the late 60's, I had a friend who owned a Silvertone guitar.  It also came with a guitar case that had a small tube amp built right into it.  So he would open up the guitar case about 90 degrees, prop it up vertically, plug his ugly Silvertone guitar into it, and jam away for hours.

It was the weirdest, ugliest thing I'd ever seen.  But I've always been a staunch advocate to the bizarre, the misfit, and the underdog.  Besides, the guy was actually a very good guitar player and a very righteous human being to boot.  So Karma eventually found its way, and my friends financial situation soon improved.  He was then able to graduate to a Les Paul Custom and a Vox AC30 amp.

He sold the Silvertone guitar, but kept the Silvertone Amp/Guitar Case as kind of a practice amp.  FYI, I was amazed at how good his Les Paul sound through that guitar case amp!  I'll see if I can find a photo of one of those old things later, and I'll post a link to it.

I seem to recall that the input jack was inside the case and so you had to keep it propped open.  That video sounds really bad for at least three reasons [1] The guys playing kind of sucks [2] the amp is very old and in need of some repairs and [3] that's a 5" speaker that's about 45 years old.   I having to remember way back 40 years, but I seem to remember that the one my friend had sounded a whole lot better than the one in this video.

Of course, a 5" speaker is going to suck no matter what.  But again, I seem to remember that it sounded pretty cool if you didn't try to crank the volume up to much.  Perfect for bedrooms and apartments.  I would liked to have heard it through an external speaker.  A lot of things were really crude and weird back in the late 60's.  But I distinctly remember thinking that this thing was pretty weird even back then, LOL!
