When I hook up my Pod X3 Live to the power amp in of my combo amp, even when using line level, the sound is significantly (unacceptably) quieter than when I go through the guitar input. Does this mean that I need to add an external preamp before or after the pod to use this input?
You shouldn't need a preamp. Did you check to make sure that the Live Out Level switch is set to Line?
Yes, I am using the line level output. I have both the channel volume and master volume at full. I'm at a loss to where I am losing my signal.
Check your Output settings on the X3. Make sure the 1/4" outputs (which I assume you're using to route the X3 to the power amp) are controlled by the Master Volume. It may be set now so the the MstVol only controls the XLR Outs.
That was a very good thought (I wasn't aware of that setting), but the Master Volume is set to affect all outputs. You are correct that I am using the 1/4 in outputs.
I am going to try it with another amp I have to see if the amp may be the problem.
Hello,
This information is correct. Please try another amp, and see the following link for more information:
