It's a fire sale! I may have just blown a head gasket (in my noggin) because I'm selling these perfectly good Marshalls on eBay. Why? Because I need cash. And because I'm an idiot. Because I just bought an Axe-Fx. DOH! Well, my tube loss is your tube gain (pun intended). Check this stuff out because with the watchers I have on it right now, it won't last long. These are seriously great sounding amps and effects. It's just that my wife took one look at my guitar room and said "you need to slim down". Okay, slim I will be. At least in terms of amount of gear.

You've been through enough GAS lately to rocket you and your rear to infinity and beyond. Here's hoping for a happy landing!
Seriously, the only thing I can imagine is that you got a chance to hear an Axe straight to board, and found a home amongst the stars. Happy tones to you, Karl. You're going somewhere I can't until my kids finish college.
Er... Will you be using existing gear as the foot controller?
Hey Karl:
I'm not too surprised--I think getting an Axe and keeping your wife happy at the same time is a pretty good trick.
Looking forward to your opinion and input on the Axe in the Axe forum. And new 9.0 firmware update today.
Oh hell, Karl got an Axe-Fx...You get the Ultra? Can't wait to hear your impressions.

Yes, I must be seriously f***ed in the head.
Or going through some early mid-life crisis or something.
Here's the real deal. I love all three of those amps I'm selling above. In fact, I'd love to have the tones of the two heads available to me at the same time and really want to keep all of them. Each has it's own unique signature. And while the GT is going okay for me as a modeler in some cases, and even better as an effects unit, there are just some amp models on it that are purely laughable, and if I stray too far outside what works for me now, it can be a disaster. But then I look over at the pile of amps in my office/studio and realize that this is exactly the sort of thing modelers were designed to avoid. I have nothing against Line6 except for having a hard time finding a good live tone with the cab models, and I liked the Vox but it lacked tone shaping options and its performance modes left a little to be desired. So I thought, couldn't I just have the best of all those things in one unit? The only answer to that, I am hoping, is the Axe-Fx. And then I got talking to Tom King a couple of times over the last couple of days and that just sealed the deal for me.
But here's my promise: I am not going to be some fan-boy, kool-aid drinker. I am quietly going to enjoy my new gear (well, loudly when live) without stopping by this forum or others to ridicule those that don't have one. It's just going to be what works for me. Because I think all of these units each have something really good going for them.
@nuser: No, I have a slightly different controller from the same company in mind.
@insidian: Yes, the Ultra. Why not?
So buy away from the list above while there's still time. Some stuff already went and others are about to pop. And I guarantee its all in top shape and sounds great.
Karl,
We don't want you to stop by and ridicule us, but if the Axe-Fx really turns out to be awesome, then don't be afraid to stop by this board and tell us. You are one of the more well-respected and level headed people on this board.....so if you get an Axe-Fx and think it is awesome then that is going to say a lot.
Thanks for that, Matt. It really does mean a lot. I'll try, somehow, to give my review of it. But it'll be hard to do without creating a mega thread with all the sniping and flaming, even with a level headed review. Just look at that "made me sell my X3" thread.
Plus, I don't think it's fair to Line6 to come on their boards with that. So I'll post elsewhere and let you guys find it.
Dude your insane....
Cool, can't wait to hear your thoughts on it. Did you notice in the add for it in the guitar mags that Radley is one of their endorsers?
I'm sure it kicks a$$ man. If it weren't so expensive alot more of us would have it. Most of us are secretly covieventing them as it is. It does alot of things that I always wished the POD could do. I don't know, if you can shell out $1,500 for a guitar or amp, then why can't you shell it out for the Axe. While I don't see one in my near future, I see one at some point or another. How are you going to amplify it? You're talking to Tom, you going back to an Atomic? Are the 50-212's finally off back order?

Exactly. I paid good money for those Marshalls, so wanting to keep them all got me to thinking...you know...I could have bought an Axe rig by now.
Nope, not using Atomic. As you might know, Tom works with Fractal now. By the way, the original Atomic series is no longer manufactured. 112-18, 112-50, and 212-50 are gone, and as far as I know, aren't coming back. The Atomic FR is the only product now. It is a 112-50 with a tweeter.
I'm going to use a tube power amp and my 412 cab for stage volume. I will take a tap out of the Axe before the cab block and run to my amp. Then I'll run a direct send after cab and mic blocks to the FOH.
You give me no choice to point out what you, and others of your ilk, have made very clear over all these L6 years. So, you got rid of your L6 junk. So, you got rid of your live amps (mistake).
What makes you post HERE about your Axe purchase ???
No one can test it at GC. It costs too much. It's a good unit, but is not worth 3 times the cost. Being a small company, it would be risky to buy an Axe - Duh - what if something goes wrong ? Will Factual be in business ?
No problem now folks. The mighty KH has spoken.
good luck, Karl... I'll be interested to see how you do with it. I'm sure it's no slouch!
But what sealed it for me live was John Blistertip especially, and some others saying that they use tube amps live, despite being great at getting modelled tones. I took that as a big clue. I've never been happier with my live tone these days. All the best to you, man. You must be excited! ![]()

Umm...I posted here in the Lounge with a For Sale posting. Figured there might be some folks here that would be interested in buying gear. And judging by all the watchers I've got on the items now, that appears to have paid off.
Yes, getting rid of my amps might very well be a mistake. But I'm willing to take the risk, which really isn't much of one because I can just send the Axe back if I don't like it. Maybe that makes me stupid. So sue me. What's it to you, anyway? If you think I made such a big mistake, go buy one of the amps and give it a good home. Otherwise, shut up and go away. Sorry to say that, Scott, because you've become an incredible pain in the *** on this forum over the last couple of years.
And I didn't get rid of all my Line6 "junk". I still have some stuff. So I have every right to be here too.

Yep, I couldn't agree more with John. He has my respect as a player and a modeler tweaker. And playing tube amps live is just cool beans. So I'm understandably a bit nervous about going down this path. We'll see where it goes.
