LESS THAN JAKE FINDS FREEDOM WITH LINE 6 DIGITAL WIRELESS SYSTEMS
CALABASAS, Calif.—March 3, 2011—Line 6, Inc. (line6.com), the industry leader in digital technology for musicians, is proud to support high-energy ska/punk/pop band Less Than Jake’s quest for total freedom with XD-V70 and Relay digital wireless systems.
In their decade-and-a-half career, Gainesville, Florida, natives Less Then Jake have traveled the world multiple times with the Warped Tour, supporting multi-platinum acts like Bon Jovi and as headliners. Through it all, they have retained total freedom and turned themselves into a cottage industry: they make their own business decisions, play the music that they want to play and have even started their own record company.
This notion of total freedom extends to the band’s wildly free-flowing live shows. The band, which consists of Chris DaMakes (guitar/vocals), Vinnie Fiorello (drums), Roger Manganelli (bass/vocals), Buddy Schaub (trombone) and Peter “JR” Wasilewski (sax/vocals), likes to move.
Recently, after determining that wireless freedom was integral to the band’s live show, XD-V70 digital wireless mic systems and Relay G90 digital guitar wireless systems from Line 6 were incorporated.
XD-V70 takes the long-standing expertise of Line 6 digital modeling technology into the wireless realm. The user can select models based on six popular live sound microphones from within the transmitter. Plus, several third-party mic capsules fit the transmitter for further customization of microphone’s polar pattern, frequency response and more. Further, no companding is used resulting in stunning audio performance.
Of course any wireless system is only as good as its RF capabilities and resistance to dropouts. Both XD-V and Relay digital wireless systems operate in the 2.4 GHz ISM band, which proves invaluable to the band as they tour in areas not always conducive to wireless operation.
Matt Yonker, the front-of-house mixer and tour manager for Less Than Jake reports, “We are in the middle of a world tour of colleges, clubs and festivals and the Line 6 wireless technology is pretty amazing. I haven’t had a single dropout, even in some of the colleges where I thought I would run into issues. The band really likes them and I can make them sound great at FOH.”
