Line 6 Product Warranty

For detailed warranty information, please see the attached PDF files at the bottom of this document.

Your warranty is determined by the region that you purchase your unit. There are three distinct regions for Line 6 products:

1) United States (as Line 6 is the distributor)

2) Line 6 UK: United Kingdom, France, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Luxembourg, Austria, and Andorra

3) Rest Of World: a series of Independent Distribution Companies. All administration of warranty is done in these three areas.

Why is this important to you? Your warranty is only valid in the region where you purchased your unit. If you buy your unit in Germany, then you must have the unit serviced in Germany, or within that region. If you live in South America, you will be interacting with the distributor for the country that you live in. It is for this reason that Line 6 recommends that you always buy your unit locally.

You will need to present your original, dated proof of purchase to have any warranty work performed at any Line 6 Authorized Service Center for repair.

FAQ's

Q: Are Line 6 warranties transferable?

A: Line 6 warranties transfer from one end user to another within the original warranty period (as long as the user has the original dated proof of purchase), but not when purchased second hand from a retail outlet.

Q: Do I get a warranty if I bought a unit from Ebay?

A: If you purchase a unit on Ebay, you do so at your own risk. Line 6 honors warranties from authorized retailers only.

Q: Do I get a warranty if I bought a unit used?

A: The only way to redeem warranty on a used item is to have the original purchase receipt, dated within the product warranty period. So if you fail to get such a receipt, the manufacturers warranty will not be honored.

Q: What do I do if I need a repair?

A: Please refer to our Product Repair FAQ for detailed instructions.

The Warranty DOES NOT Cover:

•Damage from physical abuse such as dropping the unit, impact from hard objects or damage to external components as a result of negligence.
•Damage due to liquid contamination.
•Damage resulting from any use other than that it was intended for.
•Any unit that has been repaired or had an attempted repair made to it by unauthorized personnel.
•Damage due to incorrect connection, connection to faulty equipment or connection to faulty or incorrect power supplies.
•Damage in transit as a result of inadequate packaging or protection.

A quick summary of warranty periods is included below, as warranty is determined by the distributor (Line 6 US, Line 6 UK or the specific international distributor), your warranty may vary.

General Warranty Periods

24 month parts and labor warranty

X2-branded Wireless Products.
Obtaining a Repair RMA from Line 6

Do I need a RMA number (Return Material Authorization)?

Yes. Line 6 requires that all end users, dealers and service centers have a valid RMA attached to all products shipped to the Line 6 Service Department. We are not responsible for units sent in without an RMA number. More than likely, units will be returned to sender if sent without an RMA.

How do I contact the factory?

You can call us at 818-575-3600 (option 3/option 3) to request an RMA. We are open 8am - 5pm PST, Monday - Friday. You may also contact us through our Request an RMA form. You must be signed in and have your unit registered to your Line 6 account before contacting us.

What information will I have to provide when contacting Line 6 for an RMA?

You will need to have the unit registered to your Line 6 account.

• Don’t have an account? Create one here.

You will need to ensure your full name, shipping address, email address and phone number are updated on your Line 6 account.

You will need to be ready to provide a detailed explanation of the unit's failure or defect.

You will need to be ready to provide Line 6 with a copy of your purchase receipt.

What information do I include?
After you are issued your RMA number by an authorized Line 6 service representative, we require that you include the RMA number on the outside of the shipping box. We also require that you include all components that came with your unit in the box. Do not leave anything out.

What is the shipping address for repairs?

LINE 6 SERVICE DEPARTMENT

26664 Agoura Rd.

Calabasas, CA 91302
RMA # [FILL IN YOUR RMA number]

How do I ship my unit to Line 6?
Package the unit in a box with adequate packing material to insulate it from possible freight damage. You can use services such as FedEx, UPS or US Mail to send in your gear. We suggest you use a method of shipping that is trackable in transit to ensure you have visibility of your package. Line 6 is NOT RESPONSIBLE for freight damage due to insufficient packaging. User is 100% responsible to protect their gear in transit.

Who pays for the freight?
Non-warranty: The purchaser/user assumes responsibility for freight to and from the factory.
Warranty: The purchaser/user assumes responsibility for freight to the factory. Line 6 will cover the return freight.

How do I get an estimate on the repair cost?
Estimates cannot be given until we have the unit in hand. For non-warranty work, you will need to provide a credit card and contact information for an estimate to be sent to you once we have the unit.

Who do I call to check the status of a repair?
See item 11 below, and always have your RMA number ready.

How long will it take to complete the repair?
Repair time varies, but we strive to provide a three-week turnaround (not including shipping time). If we determine that your unit needs to be replaced, the turnaround time should be a bit shorter.

How will I get my unit back?
Line 6 uses either FedEx ground or UPS ground for U.S. return requests. The shipping time is 5-7 days (not including processing time).

What if I don’t live in the U.S.?
Product warranty is only good in the country of purchase. So if you bought your unit in France, the warranty is only valid in France.

If you bought your unit in a country other than the U.S. and wish to get the unit repaired in the U.S., you will have to pay for the repair at an authorized Line 6 Service Center.

If you are looking to repair your unit in the country of purchase (non U.S.), please refer to our Distributor and/or Service Center Finder for a assistance in your area.

Europe:

Line 6, Inc.
The POD
Clifton House
Butler's Leap
Rugby, Warwickshire
United Kingdom, CV21 3RQ

Telefone: +44 (0) 1788 566 566

Fax: +44 (0) 1788 566 529

Model packs and licenses must be authorized for use with your computer and/or Line 6 device(s) using the Line 6 License Manager, which comes with Line 6 Monkey and is also a free download at http://line6.com/software/. Please see our License Manager FAQ at Line 6 License Manager FAQ for details on its use.

Q: What are the differences between Line 6 Model Packs?

A: If you would like to explore what model packs best fit your creative needs you can find a complete list and audio samples on our website:

Line 6 Model Packs

Q: How Do I purchase model packs?
A: In order to purchase model packs, you’ll first need to create a Line 6 user account on our website. To do this, just click on the “sign up” link at the top of our homepage. Once you have created an account you’ll notice a “My Account” button will appear where it used to say “sign up”. Select “My Account” and go to the “personal info” link located on the left side of the page. Fill in all of the appropriate personal information. Now, you are ready to purchase model packs.

• Select the “Products” link at the top of the homepage.
• Click “Add-ons” on the left and select a model pack.

• Review specifications for your desired model pack then select "Click for price" or "Buy it now"

• At this point, under model packs, select the device in which you would be installing your model pack.
• Now select the particular model pack you would like to purchase and then select “ADD TO CART”
• At this point you will want to select “CHECK OUT”
• Once this is done, a license for your model pack is placed on your account and you must use the Line 6 License Manager software to authorize your Line 6 hardware with that license.

Q: Can I purchase model packs and /or plug-ins without a credit card?

A: Unfortunately, our accounting system is only set up to accept transactions with a credit/debit card, and this includes pre-paid credit/debit cards.

Q: How do I authorize my device(s) for use with my licenses?

Download and install the latest version of Line 6 License Manager for your operating system from the Line 6 software page. Go to the following link for software downloads: Line 6 Software downloads.

Before launching the Line 6 License Manager, be sure to have:

Your Internet connection active

And your Line 6 device connected, if you are using one.

Line 6 Hardware requires the installation of software drivers for the device to communicate with the computer. Be sure to install these drivers using Line 6 Monkey.

Launch the License Manager:

On Mac® - Go to /Applications/Line 6/Line 6 License Manager.

On Windows® - Go to Start menu\Programs\Line 6\Tools\Line 6 License Manager.

Log in to your Line 6 account.

Select the device to which you want to authorize for use with your licenses and click the Authorize button.

Once the Authorization process completes, you may be prompted with a screen informing you that your Line 6 device includes some Add-Ons that need to be “Installed” on your device. If you are presented with this screen, click the Install button to proceed.

At this point, you are able to use your licenses on your authorized device. Repeat this process with any other devices you want to authorize for use with your licenses.

Q: Can I use model packs without owning a Line 6 device?

A: Yes, if you own a Pod Farm 2.5x license. Since POD Farm 2.5x allows you to use your computer as the authorized device, any model packs in the account that holds the POD Farm 2.5x license are also made available.

Q: What if I sell my device? What happens to my licenses? Do I lose my packs?

A: If you intended to sell your licenses with the device, then you can “gift” the relevant store order(s) to the buyer (see how to “gift” below). If you didn’t intend to sell your licenses with the device, when the buyer runs the License Manager and logs in, it will prompt him to authorize the hardware, which will remove the device authorization from your account and restore the licenses for use with your account.

Q: If I buy a used unit with packs installed, can I transfer them to another device?
A: If you are a buyer and have purchased a Line 6 device with model packs installed, since you did not originally purchase your model pack, you do not have the license key in your purchase history. The owner would have to “gift” the model pack’s store order to your account (see how to “gift” below). You'd then be able to use the model pack on any of your authorized devices.

Q: Can I transfer model packs from my account to a different account?

A: Yes. This is called "gifting" (see how to “gift” below).

Q: How do I “gift” a store order?

A: Log in to your Line 6 account, visit the Purchase History page, and click the Details link for the order. Click the link/button labeled "gift", then enter the destination Line 6 account username and click confirm. The order will still show in your account history, but you will not have access to the license(s) from the order, be able to return it, or be able to gift it again. In the giftee's account, they will see the order in their history, but not be able to return or gift it. They will have access to all the license(s) in the order.

Q: How do I return my purchased license?

A: Each Line 6 license (except iLok) includes a 30-day money-back guarantee. You can log on to your Line 6 account, visit the Purchase History page, click the Details link for the order and click on "Return". You must have fully deauthorized all of your devices using License Manager before the return process can begin. After deauthorizing your devices and completing the return process, you can re-authorize your devices to use with any remaining licenses.

Q: If anything happens to my Line 6 device, or my hard drive crashes, do I lose my licenses?
A: No, your model packs will be safe. They are tied to your Line 6 account, not your Line 6 devices, the software installation or your computer. Your Line6.com user account maintains a record of all model pack purchases. In the event that your device needs repairs or replacement, Line 6 Customer Support will be able to deauthorize the faulty device as needed.

Q: How can I tell if my models packs have been installed?

A: There are a few ways to tell if your model packs have successfully been installed into your device. If you are an owner of a POD XT family device, power the unit on after you have activated your pack. Upon power up your POD’s LCD screen will display “Model Packs Installed” and then flash the corresponding icon for your model pack. You can also access Edit Mode in your POD and scroll through your amp models. The new amp models will be displayed but preceded with the initials of your model pack. For example, “MS” corresponds to Metal Shop. If you purchased a model pack for your TonePort or GuitarPort hardware, the new models will be displayed under the Amp, Cab and Effects drop down menus in the Gearbox software.

Q: Can I put guitar model packs or the Gearbox or POD Farm plug-in onto a Bass PODxt?

A: No, the Bass PODxt series units cannot install model packs, POD Farm or Gearbox plug-in, or be used to subscribe to Guitarport Online (GPO).

Q: Can I transfer model packs that are pre-installed on a unit to a different Line 6 device?

A: No, model packs and assets that are pre-installed (i.e. the FX Junkie model pack on a POD XT Live) are "hard-wired" and cannot be transferred off the unit.

Q: I purchased multiple Model packs at the same time and now I would like to split the model packs between different devices. Is this possible?

A: By using the License Manager, you can authorize your purchased Add-On(s) to more than one device at the same time.

Q: Will my packs erase memory or use up preset space?
A: Many of our users become confused when talking about models as opposed to presets. Let’s take a minute and clarify. Models are the different types of amplifiers, cabinets and effects that can be accessed in your Line 6 device. Presets are the sounds created using the models by us (factory), or by you (user), and are stored in banks in your POD or in the Tonelocker of your software if you are using a Toneport or Guitarport interface. That being said, your new model packs will not erase memory or take up preset space in your Line 6 device as we have dedicated the appropriate amount of space in your device.

Using Your Model Packs with other Online and Offline Computers

*Prerequisite: Your hardware and all software licenses/add-ons must already be activated and authorized on your own computer (meaning, an internet connection is required and has been used for the initial activation of your POD Farm/Model Pack assets).

Transferring Activations

So you just upgraded your computer to the latest and greatest (this week anyway…) model, and want to move you licenses and your add-Ons to your new system? In this section, we’ll explain how to make the transfer process as easy as A-B-C, whether the new computer can connect to the internet or not.

Here's how on Windows XP:

In other words, the user cannot lose anything, except for the original settings that are provided as examples/starting points.

Variax Acoustic 700 - Soft Reset

Start with unit off (TRS cable and/or Variax Digital cable unplugged from guitar).

Q: Why should I register my Line 6 gear?

A: Registering your gear allows you to receive free updates, as well as grants you the ability to update your unit with model packs and access GuitarPort Online (on units that support these features). It is also required should you choose to use the benefits of the manufacturers warranty for repair or replacement of your Line 6 unit.

Please be sure you have all your gear registered to the same account.

Q: How do I register my Line 6 Gear?

A: See the following link to direct you to your product registration page:

Register Gear

The left side of the screen will display a "Register Gear" link. Click the link and choose your product. Most items will have an automatic completion for the first few characters once you select the product. Continue to enter your unit's serial number. The serial number is on a sticker affixed to the back of your unit, and also on the unit's retail box, and follows this 17 character format: (21)XXXNLNNNNNNNNNN, where X stands for number or letter, N stands for NUMBER, and L stands for LETTER. Please be aware that zeroes and letter Os may look identical. Complete the registration by entering the purchase date.

Exceptions

GuitarPort/Rifftracker: after selecting GuitarPort from the dropdown menu, enter the eight digits found on the bottom of the unit (on the right of the bar code). If your unit is missing the sticker with the serial number, please connect the unit to Line 6 Monkey and use the ESN number shown on the left side on Monkey.

Variax

Choose the correct model and color. The serial number field will partially fill with a serial prefix that will look something like "21xxx125".

Enter the 8 digits on the back of your headstock after the serial number prefix.

Put a 0 at the end of the number.

Fill in the date purchased and click "Submit"

Q: I have an X2 wireless product that was manufactured prior to the Line 6 aquisition. Can I register this product?

A: Because of the serial numbering format used by older X2 wireless products, our systems are unable to register these products to your Line 6 account However, if you create a support thread marked as a question or call our support department, we can add your serial number to a support ticket so it is on record with Line 6.

Q: Are there some Line 6 units and/or accessories that cannot be registered?

A: Yes. Early Line 6 units such as AX/AXsys, Flextone (I), and POD(I) cannot be registered, as their serial numbers will not fit into the current format. In addition, some accessory units such as the FBV2, EX-1, EPROM Upgrades, and XPS boxes do not have a serial number and cannot be registered.

Q: Where is the serial number located?

A: The serial number for your Line 6 Product is located in most cases on the bottom or back of your product. The Pocket Pod serial number can be found inside the battery-housing compartment behind the top right battery. The number also appears on the unit's retail box.

Q: I'm having trouble registering my unit. How do I get help?

A: Make sure you are signed in to your Line 6 account and open a support ticket to send an inquiry to a Line 6 representative. You can open a support ticket

here

http://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html

If your unit is missing the sticker with the serial number, please connect the unit to Line 6 Monkey (free download at http://line6.com/software/) and use the ESN number shown on the left side on Monkey. The Floorpod series, Pocket POD, Pocket POD Express, Guitarport, and POD Studio/Toneport GX have a 3.5mm (1/8") headphone jack.

Q: What is the recommended headphone ohm rating for use with Line 6 products?

A: For devices with a 1/4" output, we recommend headphones rated between 150-600 ohm (pro or semi-pro level) studio headphones for best results. For those with an 1/8" output, headphones designed for MP3 player usage are usually a good match. Results may vary between headphone models and manufacturers.

Q: Can I use smaller earbud-style (i.e. Ipod) headphones with my Line 6 gear?

A: Earbud-style headphones (typically under 150 ohms) are not recommended for devices with a 1/4" output. Some users of earbud-style headphones have experienced a "motorboat" sound in the headphones. Results may vary between between headphone models and manufacturers.

Q: I noticed that when I plug my headphones into my Line 6 amplifier, there is no sound from the speaker. Is this intended?

A: Yes, inserting a plug into the headphone jack will mute the speaker.

Q: My Line 6 amp headphone jack is also labeled direct/recording output. Can I use the speaker and the headphone jack at the same time?

A: There is no way to have both the speaker and headphone jack/DI output active at the same time.

Audio Cables 101

Introduction

This is a primer for using audio cables, how they work, and what the common cable types are. Below are a couple of books that are excellent reference materials that expand on the subject:

Wire, Cable, and Fiber Optics for Video & Audio Engineers by Stephen H. Lampen (Aug 1, 1997) http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Fiber-Optics-Video-Engineers/dp/0070381348/ref=lp_B001HO3HHQ_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1335303440&sr=1-2

Audio/Video Cable Installer's Pocket Guide (Pocket Reference) by Stephen H. Lampen (Jan 15, 2002) http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Video-Installers-Pocket-Reference/dp/0071386211/ref=sr_1_fkmr1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1335303294&sr=1-2-fkmr1

How an Audio Cable Works

Audio cables work by sending electrical signals from one place to another. This is very similar to the way that electrical current flows from a power outlet in your house. However audio cables use much smaller voltages than a common 110 volt plug.

Electricity 101

In order for electricity to “flow” between two points you need two things: a “hot” or positive wire and a “neutral” or negative wire. This completes a “circuit” and allows the electrical signal from your instrument to your amp, mixing console or computer interface.

All standard audio cables use this basic electrical principle no matter what connector is attached to the end. This is what is happening when you plug your guitar into your amp with a ¼” guitar cable or when you connect your DVD player to your TV with an RCA plug, they both work exactly the same way.

Balanced and Unbalanced Audio Cables
I have noticed online that there seems to be a lot of confusion and long explanations about the difference between balanced and unbalanced audio cables. All most guitarists and recording enthusiasts need to know is the basic electrical difference between the two and what that means for them. I’m going to try to explain the difference in plain English as best I can.

Unbalanced cables work exactly as I just described. In a guitar cable for instance there is positive wire or “tip” which connects to the tip of the connector at the end of the cable. And a neutral “sleeve” that wraps around the wire connected to the tip. The neutral or sleeve serves two purposes: To provide a neutral conductor so that electricity can flow and to shield the positive middle wire from outside interference.

-Low impedance audio, or mic level would be 48-52 Ohms (3-pin XLR connectors, balanced lines).

-Higher (but not high) impedance audio for mixers and other distributive audio equipment instrument level is around 1,000 [between 680 to 1,800] Ohms (1/4" phone connectors, TS-unbalanced and TRS-balance lines).

-High impedance audio Mixers, other circuit applications, distribution amps and other distributive audio line level require 1,000 to 10,000 Ohms (RCA connectors, unbalanced lines).

Q: So my guitar cables and pedals are unbalanced?
A: YES, nearly all guitar equipment is.

Q: Is that bad?
A: Absolutely NOT.

Unbalanced cables can be prone to outside electrical interference over long distances. Basically the longer the cable, the less effective the sleeve is going to be at shielding the cable from outside electrical interference. Fortunately most guitar cables and patch cables are relatively short so this is usually not an issue for most musicians. A good rule of thumb for any unbalanced cable is if it’s over 10ft long and you are using it in a room or on a stage with a lot of other electrical equipment you could hear unwanted hum, buzz, or noise.

Q: What does this mean for me?
A.(1) Nobody likes to be “tied” to their amp but try to keep guitar and other unbalanced cables around 10ft or shorter for the least amount of noise and strongest signal. (15ft is usually ok, 25ft is pushing it.)
A.(2) In recording situations it’s ok to use unbalanced cables in most cases but if you want crystal clear audio try to keep them under 10ft. Also, watch out for unbalanced connections on the back of rack gear. Having an unbalanced connection near that much other gear could cause noise problems.

Balanced Cables
Balanced cables still rely on a “hot” conductor and a “neutral” conductor to carry electrical signals but they add another element to the equation: a ground. A ground is called a ground because well… it literally goes into the ground! Straight through the cable, through your balanced audio gear, through the wall to the fuse box and down a wire or pipe into the Earth. In balanced audio cables the sleeve is used as the ground. The ground or sleeve does NOT carry a signal and is NOT heard in the audio. It’s simply there to protect from unwanted noise while the hot and neutral carry the signal.

Now for the magic: the hot and neutral both carry the same signal, noise and all. Hot is flowing in a positive direction, neutral in a negative direction. Balanced audio equipment simply outputs the voltage difference between the two wires. Since the noise is represented equally on both hot and neutral it is “inverted” and cancelled out. I know this might sound complicated but what it means for you is that you can have hundreds of feet of balanced cable and still have noise free audio.

Q. What types of things use balanced audio cables?
A. Microphones and recording equipment is, or should be, balanced in most cases.

Q. If I use a balanced cable with my guitar can I balance the signal?
A. No. The equipment you are using must have balanced connections as well.

Q. Why are balanced cables so expensive?
A. They are made with a process called “twisted pairing” which is more expensive to manufacture than unbalanced cables.

Q. If I have the choice of using balanced or unbalanced cables which one should I use?

A. In most cases if you are using balanced equipment you should use balanced cables. But if you get into a tight spot and need run something

unbalanced it’s ok as long as the cable length is short and you get no unwanted noise.

How to tell the difference between balanced and unbalanced cables:

The technical name for guitar cables is TS which stands for Tip (hot), Sleeve (Neutral).

Studio ¼” cables are called TRS which stands for Tip (Hot) Ring (Neutral) Sleeve (Ground)

TS Cables have one ring on the connector:

TRS Cables have two.

Any cable that has three prongs or “legs” like an XLR Cable is usually balanced.

Some cables are made for odd routing situations and are three “legged” on one side and two pronged on the other. These are still unbalanced.

Glossary of Cables:

Unbalanced:

TS 1/4":

This is the standard ¼” cable seen on guitars and unbalanced recording equipment.

TS 1/8” Mini:

A TS or “mono” mini plug is most commonly seen as an adapter.

RCA or Phono:

RCA connections are seen primarily on entry level recording equipment. They are also found on consumer products like DVD players, turntables, and older television sets.

Banana Plug:

Banana plugs are mostly used for consumer audio speaker connections.

Insert or Y Cable:

An insert cable splits a stereo signal into two mono parts and is referred to as a Y-Cable because it is literally shaped like a Y.

Balanced:

XLR:

XLR is the most common connection for microphones and is often referred to as a “mic cable”.

TRS ¼”:

(Notice the two rings around the top of the connector.)

TRS is a balanced ¼” cable that is used in studios and live sound reinforcement to minimize noise over long distances.

TRS 1/8” Mini:

The 1/8” “mini plug” connector is often used on headphones and other consumer sources like sound cards.

Tiny Telephone or TT:

The TT or Tiny Telephone is a balanced connection used for connections in professional patch bays.

Digital Connections:
Most digital connections use the same principals we have already discussed; they just use them in a different way. Digital cables are made to send “pulses” of current or light that can be decoded by a computer. It is VERY important to use the proper cable type with digital connections. Things like “impedance” or the amount of resistance present in the cable play an important role in how this information is sent. Just because a S/PDIF cable looks like an RCA Cable doesn’t mean the RCA cable plugged into your DVD player can handle a S/PDIF connection. You might experience strange errors and digital distortion if you use a cable that is not properly rated.

S/PDIF:

S/PDIF or Sony/Phillips Digital Interface is by far the most common digital connection. It uses a 75 ohm unbalanced RCA phono connection. You can use standard RCA cables if they are rated at 75ohms.

Optical or Light Pipe:

Optical or Light Pipe is a discrete multichannel digital standard developed for the ADAT. It is most commonly seen on digital audio interfaces and preamps. You may also see optical ports on high end consumer devices as an audio connection. Optical cables use pulses of light to send information. They tend to be expensive and fragile so handle with care.

AES/EBU:

AES/EBU: is basically S/PDIF’s big brother. AES uses the same protocol as S/PDIF but it can handle more information at once. AES/EBU uses a balanced connection with XLR on both sides. When using an XLR make sure it is Type 1 (referring to pin order) and rated at 110 ohms.

BNC or Bayonet:

BNC is an unbalanced connection that is used primarily in professional video as an alternative to RCA. On the audio side of things it is mainly used to carry word clock information. BNC comes in 50 and 75 Ohm varieties, most audio equipment uses 75 ohm.

Multi-pin Connectors

Multi-pin connectors are usually found on high end audio interfaces and consoles, they are used as a balanced multi channel connection that saves space on the back of a piece of gear. Each pin on the connector is a discrete channel that carries audio or digital information from one point to another.

Most guitarists and home recording enthusiasts won’t run into these connections too often because they are mainly used in recording or live sound equipment that is very expensive.

D-Sub/DB25:

D-Sub is a family of connectors used on computer devices and comes in multiple pin configurations. The most common D-Sub connection is the one found on the back of VGA computer monitors. It is not uncommon for companies to use D-Sub to carry audio on high end peripherals because the connectors are common and relatively inexpensive.

Elco/Edac:

Elco and Edac (which in many cases are interchangeable) are large multi pin connectors that can have as many 120 pins. They can be heavy and have an actuating screw that holds the male and female connectors in place.

TDIF:

A proprietary type of 25 pin D-Sub that was created by Tascam. It is found on a wide variety of professional recording equipment as an alternative to the ADAT standard.
