Good to hear that the neck was good on yours (mine was marginal, overbeveled, needed to be re-aligned a bit and have the nut moved). I gives me hope that the later the production is , the better the instrument will be.

From your pics it looks like your body is in worse shape than my original....but I think mine was getting progressively worse by the week.

Checked in with dealer today and SF marketing reports that they are finding a later model replacement for me.

Let the waiting begin.........again. Good luck with yours.

A ha... so I am not alone. Starting to look like something untoward happened to the August batch of black ones that came to Canada. Still no word on my replacement, I will be calling tomorrow. You should get yours back to L&M ASAP.

Good idea to start your own thread there BTW, those pics show the problem really well. Out of curiosity, did you get a correct (threaded) tremolo arm with yours ?.....the two I received had the wrong one included.

Yes, very strange indeed. No pics unfortunately as the instrument was returned straight away.

The manager at my local Long&McQuade store has been in touch with the folks at SF Marketing and was apparently told a third instrument (with similar serial#) had the same issues. All three are on their way back.

Is it possible, now that production is ramped up a bit to get a freshly produced JV69BLK sent through SF for the Dartmouth N.S. Long & McQuade store? (because I really liked it when I had one )

The Plot Thickens.............

Hello again. A replacement arrived on Thursday 23 Feb but when I went to pick it up today I found it unacceptable for the following reasons:

Finish was stressed top and bottom like my original, and there were two obvious blemishes (dents in the wood under the finish),

Similar bowing of the electronics cavity cover, which was really tight and nearly impossible to replace,

Once again the incorrect (Ver 1 unthreaded) trem bar was included,

Tremolo Piezo wire was mounted the old incorrect way with cable tie on the trem block.

Interestingly the replacement was serial W11080008 which is similar (actually earlier build) to the first which was W11080034..............so not a good batch of JTV69-Black I'm guessing.

Could you please arrange to forward a later production guitar, without these issues to the Canadian supplier.

Nige.....

Sounds like the Model Selector Knob has been pushed down too far on the shaft so model mode wont engage. I've read somewhere that you can gently pull the knob up and off, then stick a paper shim on top of the shaft and it should work.

Just wanted to update you on this. Guitar has been returned and the supplier in Canada says they have some in stock, so replacement should be here within in a couple of weeks. Woohoo, 'cause back to my old V300 is not fun.

Well that's three days and no comments from other '69 owners so I guess this is not a common complaint. I did see a thread from the JTV "Group" that addressed a similar poor finish problem in the UK.

I know its just an appearance thing but it's really starting to bug me, and it's weakening my standing as a Line 6 evangelist with my bandmate who spent the same money on a Deluxe USA Telecaster . (still sounds better though ! )

JTV 69 Body Ridges

My Black JTV 69 arrived in September last year with perfectly flat finish on the top, but about mid-January I noticed two distinct ridges in the finish that look like movement of the laminated body pieces. The sales rep at Long@McQuade had a look and thinks "its a bit dry" due to winter weather. I'm not sure he's correct....my house is newer construction with humidity controlling ventilation and A/C heating. The Variax 300, 30yr old Vantage and two acoustics that hang in the same spot have never had these issues.

My questions:

is this kind of thing covered by the "wood" section of the warranty. (it had better be)

can I expect it to settle back with age, (probably not)

or is this a symptom of a structural fault. (???? you be the judge)

I wasn't able to get a photo that shows it clearly, but to the eye its quite obvious.

Anyone else out there notice the same thing?

Update: I'm going to take guitar back to the store today for return or replacement...here is a pic of the electronics cover plate on the back which is bowed up due to the deformation of the body,

....and the lines in the finish are now apparent on the back of the body right up to the neck mount holes. Yuck.

I had this issue at the start, but my nut was actually loose from the factory. Had it re-glued slightly towards the bass side of the fretboard which helped a bit.

After reading all the threads about this I took Rich Renken's advice and re-aligned the neck a teeny bit (back off the screws slightly , then gently pull neck toward the upper bout, and re-tighten) and it resulted in lots of room for the high e.
