Re: Contact Line6 - newbie

So I spoke to someone on the phone, although it was tech support (I sat on their hold queue for exactly 41 minutes.) He was very polite, and as helpful as I could have hoped for. However, here are the details of what I have discovered.

I believe they had the free expression pedal rebate last year if you purchased between Nov 1 and Dec 31, and you had until Jan 31 to submit the paperwork. They now have a brand new, identical rebate campaign, but the purchase date must be between Feb 1 and Feb 28. Which means that anyone who bought one of the amps in January, cannot get the free pedal. Rules are rules, I guess.

If I had to complain about Line6, it would be that they should not ignore customer emails when they specifically ask you to use that email address. A simple reply to me that the rebate was over would have been the right thing to do. They chose to ignore it completely.

In my case, I bought the amp for two reasons: 1) I needed and amp, and 2) This one came with a free expression pedal (or so I thought.)

In the Sam Ash store, the details of the rebate program were not immediately obvious. As it turned out, the campaign was expired, but the store had not taken down the signs. To make matters more confusing, a store associate told me the next day that the rebate had been extended, which was false - but he was not aware of that. The Sam Ash store should understand the program details, and they did not. As a customer, I should also have been more aware of the details, but while in the store seeing big signs about free expression pedals, my excuse is that I am a guitar player, and I got excited about the offer.

To the store's credit, I recieved a small discount from the manager because the rebate was expired and I wasn't going to get my expression pedal. Since I needed an amp, and this one fit my needs very well, I went ahead and purchased. As a consumer, I am ultimately responsible for the things I purchase, so I am not blaming everyone else in this particular case.

However, I am disappointed that I purchased my amp in the thirty day window that is not eligible for the free pedal. I am still within my return policy rights to return the amp and buy a new one - thus becoming eligible for the rebate. But what a freaking hassle that is going to be. I'm left wondering if the marketing department at Line6 noticed that the campaign was working and decided to give it another run. If that is the case, it leaves me wondering why they left out the January purchasers? In the grand scheme, they should update the requirements to include anyone who purchased from Jan 1, as a goodwill gesture, at the very least.

I am a long time Line6 customer, and I have always been happy with their products. I've never had a complaint, nor have I had to call customer serivce, or return any products.
