HD500 footswitch issue and firmware update issue

I'm not sure if this is 2 seperate issues or if they are related? FS2 and FS6 do not respond when tapped. They did at one point and if I use HD500 Edit and pick any of the B channels (FS6) it switches on the device and the LED on the FS lights. If I tap it, nothing. I also picked patches that had fx assigned to FS2. You can toggle the effect on and off by clicking it in HD500 edit (LED works) but tapping the switch does nothing. I reinstalled the 1.43 firmware multiple times with no effect. Which brings me to the other oddity I'm seeing which I believe started around the release of the 1.4 firmware. Even though when applying the firmware I say don't keep current patches it took 3 tries to get the 1.4 to stick with the new setlists. When I tried to reinstall the 1.43 I tried 3 times and it said updated successfully but it didn't seem to update the setlists.

Just a note: I tried the reinstall button so it downloaded from line 6 and I also downloaded a copy of the firmware local and selected update from a file with no change. As for the FS's I have been using the device at home for the better part of 17 months with our first gig a couple weeks ago. Nothing was spilled on the device before anyone asks and I noticed the FS issue at our first practice after the gig last week.

Anyone have any other suggestions. My dilema is I have another gig on the 23rd.

Treadplate topology III or IV?

POD HD500 - DT50 212 via L6 Link user.

I'm hoping someone can clear up a bit of confusion. I was checking out the new firmware and the L6LINK <-> DT setlist. I thought i had read in the original docs or posts on this forum and in the dt forum that topology/voicing IV was the treadplate. why is it in all of the presets or when you choose the treadplate model it is topology/voicing III and when you switch it to IV in any of the setlist presets it's overly bassy and muddy? Is the treadplate topology III or IV?

I was specifically checking out 07B Chunky Style in the L6LINK <-> DT setlist,. topology is set to III for the treadplate model. it has been like this for as long as i can remember. if it is supposed to be IV why hasn't it been fixed in one of the firmware updates?

Thanks for any insight on this

It seems to be going back and forth between Channel A & Channel B. I can try and see if i can figure out what might have caused and see if i can reproduce regularly. During my process of trying to craft the tones of the DT50 using the HD500 I think I had one or two of the other issues mentioned on the forum arise as well. If I recall correctly it was something about the class A Vox AC-30 losing volume. I also had all channels get really noisey. The only thing that solved any of the issues was cycling the power on the amp. putting it in stand by, turning it off, waiting a few, powering it on, taking it out of stand by. I have since reapplied the firmware. Will try to recreate the issue within the next couple of days

Master Volume issue?

Wondering if anyone else has experienced this?

I was attempting to recreate the DT50 tones with my POD HD500 via Line6 Link to my DT50 212 creating two seperate set lists. One low power using full amp models. One normal using pre-amp models. I was using HD Edit and bouncing back and forth between the natural amp tone on Channel B and my dialed in version on Channel A by bypassing the amp on Channel A. This worked pretty well for a few hours until I got to the point where I was going to attempt to level the output of the 4 different voicings. I got pretty close with the low power set list and switched to master. Messed with that one for a little bit and switched back to low power. I pulled the volume out and had some sound but wanted to bring it up some but turning the master volume did nothing. I pushed it in and spun it and no change. pulled it out again and the volume stayed the same. Tried putting it in standby for a few minutes and trying again with no change. The only thing that fixed it was to power the amp off and back on again. I wasn't really able at the point to keep playing with it and will hopefully try again today to see if it becomes unresponsive again at any point. Has anyone else had this happen. Like I said, so far it has only occurred once so I'm not overly concerned just looking to see if this may be a bigger issue and if anyone from tech support has heard of this? Kinda of wondering if it had anything to do with a glitch being usb'd to HD Edit while Line 6 Linked to the DT50 and it wouldn't have been an issue if just editng right from the POD? Any feedback would be great.

The mounting holes are 1/4" in diameter but a 1/16" Drill bit should be used to drill a pilot hole for the mounting screws. I have uploaded the corrected templates.

Message was edited by: MDinice

I made a template with Adobe Illustrator to aid in mounting the Ernie Ball Pop Out amp casters. The mounting holes may line up with the Ernie Ball Standard Mount amp casters as well as other brands of standard mount and pop out amp casters. Disclaimer: I made the template using, and only had the Ernie Ball Pop Out casters to try.

I added the image below and have attached a .png, .jpg, and Illustrator .eps version of the template. Take your pick. This worked really well when printing with and specifying 4x6 photo paper. It made a nice sturdy template. If you print on larger paper verify the printer properties are not set to "fit to page" as this will distort the image size. If you're using larger paper with the Windows XP Photo Printing Wizard Select 4x6 in. cutout prints. Always pop the casters out of the base and sit the base on top of the template and make sure everything lines up before you tape them down and start drilling. Hope this makes things easier, it definitely did for me.

The other thing it always does is intially comes up to the no devices detected screen. I then have to click Connect using midi cables. It sees the Midi In as the MIDISPORT Uno in but i always have to change the midi out from Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth to MIDISPORT Uno out on an initial connection. When I manually change it and then try to update it fails the first time with the errors previously mentioned and then will eventualy work and update the firmware the second time i try. It want to switch to the 112 though so as long as i change device everything eventually works. I though I'd try to update the POD HD 500 via midi to try to rule in or out the cable as being the issue but that is not an option on the HD500. It does not show up in the change device list.
