actually i have the original sound diver disc inside the sleeve of the manual. i was wondering if there was an updated version to that online? i guess it really doesn't matter having an updated version of outdated software.

anyway, what would it have done that i can't do w/o it?

newbie questions for the original basspod

hello all,

first post... (well, not really any more, but close enough... first question still unanswered.)

i purchased an original model of the bass pod (not the xt or pro or live model, etc) second hand. until now, i have never tried to hook it up to a computer. i have a couple of questions that i can't find answers to and am hoping that i may find the answers here. thanks in advance.

1) the instructions in the manual 'strongly recommend that i search the line 6 support pages for an updated version of the sound diver installer.' i have done that and haven't seemed to find one, so i am inquiring here to find out if there is one?

2) will the bass pod's software run on windows7 64 bit os?

3) i read something in the manual that i could not make sense of:

in the "getting set up" part 3, page 6 of the manual, in the direct injection description, it speaks about not feeding the low impedence inputs of a mixer directly from the bass guitar because it tends to sound squashed. that makes sense since that is what a direct box is for - impedence matching, and, i'm assuming, is one of the main functions of the bass pod. isn't it?

the part that is not making sense to me is that the manual then states:

"to avoid this, we recommend buffering your bass' signal before the mixer with a high quality direct box or tonally transparent instrument preamp. look for a unit that delivers clean, uncolored sound. steer clear of amp simulators. you can use a bass preamp as long as it is clean, with a flat frequency response - no tone shaping."

isn't the bass pod a direct box? it says right on the face of the unit : "bass pod - bass amp modeler and direct box plus effects" why does the manual seem to suggest using another unit as a direct box?

could somebody please explain this?

sorry if i'm in the wrong "room," this forum is hard to navigate in.

i am trying to find my posted question about loading the sound diver software and the use of bass pod as a direct box.

i have been reluctant to load the disc that came with the original bass pod because i don't know if it's compatable w/ this x64 comp and if the drivers will cause stability issues, etc. i've been trying to get an answer for about four or five days. who else would know the answer if not the line 6 tech support forum, though i feel like this has been a waste of time.

i think the prob was that i never created a "support profile."

after doing so i was able to ask a q.

before that, every post was discussion.

does this mean that nobody knows or nobdy cares?

or maybe it means that it's the weekend and nobody's here.
