At the same time you could run HD500 Edit and try and recreate the presets from scratch by copying the settings and using similar amp and FX models.

That will show you what effects make up the tone. You could then use this information to create your own tone using HD500 Edit. It won't be the same, but it might give you some ideas.

The HD500 is only compatible with the .h5e tones. There's no way to really convert the XT tones to the HD format. The two devices are operating on completely different architectures.

Also, the XT has been around for about 10 years now, compared to the 1 year for the HD500, so it's not surprising there's a lot more tones available for the XT at the moment.

POD HD500 Customtones Compatibility?

Hello,

I just bought the Line 6 POD HD500, and have been exploring the Customtones.com library.

I have downloaded several POD HD500 files and they work perfectly. However, I see plenty of custom tones that I'd like to use, but they are made for other POD devices (most commonly the PODxt Live) and when I try to download them, Windows does not recognize the file extention (.l6t).

Is there a way to convert them to the .h5e format so that the Line 6 POD HD500 Edit software can recognize it? Or is there some other way to open these files and move them for use to the HD500 itself? This is one of my favorite features of the product so far, and I'd like to not have to go buy a PODxt Live to be able to use the majority of the custom tones.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
