Is there a way to upload a wav file to the forum. Each one is around 6mb.

Threshold of -50db on the gate produces what I would call the echo of a gunshot when the strings get muted. It is faint but is there

Threshold of -35db it gets eliminated which I can live with that.

The concern becomes, is this a real issue that potentially will become worse to the point where the gate is so extreme that the sustain is gone?

If this is a normal tube characteristic then ok.

The other issue of the 60hz hum with nothing plugged into the amp but just a simple master vol brought to 25% you can hear on these wav files as well. Actually the master volume was only around 15%.

I can upload the tone I used as well if needed.

I used a Shure SM57 Positioned 1.5 inch from the cone center with a M Audio Profire 610 interface and Reaper for the DAW

Your time is much appreciated

Based on the part that indicates you've A/B'ed your SV MKII with a floor model at Guitar Center and noticed a difference in output signal quality, you really should consider getting yours diagnosed by one of the Authorized Line 6 Service Center repair techs in your area: http://line6.com/support/serviceCenters/

That, or see if Guitar Center will be willing to assist with you (if you're within their return policy period). Ultimately, either they or you will need to get your SV 112 MKII checked out under warranty.

There's a reset on the digital/DSP frontend you could try (if you haven't already):

Power off the amp.

Press and hold down the "A" channel button. Power on the amp while holding that button down. You should see the display read "Press Presets For Factory Reset".

Press the Presets knob.

Press it a second time to confirm and reset the DSP defaults.

I'm thinking the issue exists in the output section, however. To diagnose those components, a repair tech would need to get involved.

After talking to Guitar Center, they told me the noise I am hearing during quick palm mutes to kill the sound is the tubes blooming. That the tubes have a bit of latency and are not as accurate as solid state amps. I tried a floor model but didn't hear as much of the noise as I do on mine. It can be hard to hear in a store vs a sound treated home studio. Either way I tried tightening up my playing and using the onboard noise gate down to around -25db for the threshold. I seem to lose some of the sustain in doing this. I was also told to drop the drive down to around 12 o'clock. So I set the amp to Metal Amber with the drive at noon to 1 o'clock and add a tube screamer for a bit more bite 50% gain and 10% drive. A bit disappointed that the amp isn't more accurate when driven on the high side.

Also I get a hum when the master volume reaches 1/4 volume. It is quite noitceable and gets louder if the master is turned higher. Normally I don't need any more than 1/4 volume with channel volume at noon. This happens whether there is a guitar hooked to the amp or not. Also tried other outlets in different rooms. Tested the outlet and it is grounded. Again tested a floor model at Guitar Center and didn't hear anything until the master was almost wide open. This is a bit of a hassel for recording with a mic but can be gated out in the DAW.

Seems to be a few quirks about this amp or maybe I have a defective unit. Wondering if anyone else gets either of these issues?
