i don't think the dt pre's sound better than the hd500 pre's, i realy don't hear a difference, but hey thats my opinion and there for subjective.

i agree a lot of folks are complaining about quality difference but how many aren't?? you don'thear them on the forum.

Does somebody try the 4 cables method ? Does it sound better ? It's the last solution I have to try.

With this method, can I configure the DT50 (voicing, class, EQ, etc) with HD500 midi signal ?

Good answer, isn´t it is disappointing that the DT25 pre models sound better than the HD500 pre. Many people in this form say this. A shame that 4CM is recommended instead of line 6 link.

Maybe someone can comment.

Glad I could help, I too can get a bit better tone with DT25 pre instead of hd500 pre for some tones on the hd500 I disable the amp block and just use effects then use the DT25 to dial in the amp tone I want ( I normally use Low Volume Mode) , but for some reason doing this makes the delay effects feedback much more so I have to reduce that parameter in those patches. I had good results using 4 Cable Method instead of l6link using the pod just for effects, also disabling the amp block means you have a lot more dsp left over for pitch shifters and so on.

Those settings are shown on the info card that comes on top of the amp when New, all 4 voicings use pentode to get the original desired amp sound, and voicing III is the only one to use class A if you are trying to get the sound of the 4 types of amp that the DT25 is modelling. Having said that the whole point of having these selectable settings is to experiment, for example I really like using triode on voicing IV to get a smoother lead tone. Hope I understood your question correctly.

Another question:

Can I find somewhere the standards settings for these 4 voicings for pentode vs. triode and for Class A/B vs Class A.

I have regognized that the DT25 don´t remember it.

An for voicing 2 is it the normal or the bright channel.
