I did some work on this issue last night

One thing I did not mention is that my JT Variax was plugged in.

It seems there are some quirks with the midi / usb implementation.

When I unplugged the JTV the DEP stay as I selected them. Even the parameters on the "controllers" tab behave normally.

BUT - This could not be the solution because I want to edit the HD with acces to my JTV. How else could I assign models, the new JTV controls and so on. Too bad.

OK, next try.
I plugged in the JTV but unplugged the midi out cable which was connected to a Cakewalk MIDI interface (UM-3G) and everything works fine but now I cannot use the HD as MIDI controller while editing. Ok, I would not say this is the perfect solution but it is a workaround.

There seems to be some issues and bugs with the midi / usb implementation. Even my other thread http://line6.com/support/thread/76380?start=0&tstart=0 shows that there are pending related bugs.

I think you have found a bug with respect to midi. btw, I had a JTV connected via VDI while doing my testing last night, but I did not test with a midi cable.

Just tried it again, and get intermittent change of focus from cab to amp. With focus on cab, some other actions such as switching an effect on or off will sometimes change focus to amp (but not every time). Not really a problem for me, more of a minor nuisance. Really like the new plexi model and the cab dep.

I tested this with the latest software update released yesterday: HD500 firmware v2.02 and HD500 Edit version 2.0

I am on Win7 Professional 64-bit. I am also using the latest HD500 driver v4.2.5.4 and the latest Monkey v1.53

With respect to the Amp/Cab parameters:

I do not get the switch in focus that you report in step 9. My HD500 Edit display remains with the Cab Parameters until I manually switch focus.

With respect to the Controllers tab:

I do not get the switch in focus that you report in step 7. My HD500 Edit display continues to display the selected Model until I manually switch focus. I have no problem using the "FS Assign", "parameter" or "Controller" fields.

The only thing I notice (which is expected behaviour) is that after assigning a controller to a parameter, and then assigning the min/max levels, the display reverts to the null display when you actually physically move the newly assigned controller (e.g. EXP-1). This is not considered a bug, although it complicates the procedure of testing your assigned min/max levels.

It works the way you describe for me too. I assumed there was some reason they wanted to revert to the other focus after a timeout period. It has not been that big of a problem for me, though I would prefer the focus stay where I last left it.

OK. The story goes on. I found some more. Absolute annoying.

1. HD500 is powered on.

2. Start HD Edit

3. HDEdit synchronizes with HD500

4. Choose any preset.

5. Change to the amplifier preferences tab

6. Choose any amplifier.

7. In the mid under the main parameters are the DEPs. Default are the amlifier power section DEPs.

8. Select the DEPs for the cab by clicking the button right beside the button "amplifier parameters" called "cab parameters"
9. After one to three seconds the focus on "cab parameters" get lost and HDEdit switches back to "amplifier parameters" on the left.

The same happens on the controllers tab.

1. - 4. like before

5. Change to the controllers tab.

6. Choose any model.
7. After one to three seconds the models field jumps back to "---"

8. If your lucky enougn to reach "FS Assign", "parameter" or "Controller" HDEdit plays you for suckker and reverts all to "---"

9. Conclusion: HDEdit is useless in this areas.

I am on Windows 7 HP 64 bit.

Yes - you're right. My earlier question was unnecessary.

Can you explain again exactly what the problem is with the editor? I find it hard to follow your description. What buttons are you pressing, in what order, and what are you seeing that doesn't make sense?

Yes as I did also the system reset and the pedal calibration repeatedly. BTW, previous versions of HDEdit won't show the cab sim DEP.

Did you apply the HD Edit update as well as the device firmware?
