All you need is that adapter cable you said, XLR on one side, TRS on the other. It will behave just the same as if plugged into a mic preamp (set to unity or "no" gain)

By your question I assume you were already thinking you were right but just wanted to make sure of not blowing anything, or else you would have tried it already.

I have a question that is related to this thread:

I've run out of lo-Z XLR inputs on my mixer (Tascam M164UF) -- too many singers hogging the mic inputs!

I want to run my DT25 combo into a balanced 1/4" TRS input on the mixer.

The specs for the mixer input are:

Input impedance: 10k ohm

Nominal input level: +4 dBu

Maximum input level: +22 dBu

What, if anything do I need to put between the DT25 "cabinet direct out" and the input of the mixer?

For example,

do I need a preamp?

do I need an impedance matcher of some kind?

or, can I just use a simple adapter cable (a balanced cable with female XLR on one end, and 1/4" male TRS on the other)?

Does anyone know the specs of the DT25 "cabinet direct out", to help me figure out what I need to put between them?

Intened is to go to a microphone preamp, but in the end its what sounds best to you. Note that the direct out cab sim is reacting directly to the speaker line impedance. This becomes very important if you use a power soak or load simulator as it directly effects the tone.

I agree. I hadn't tried the direct out on my DT25 until recently and I much prefer the tone compared to when it they mic it.

I think either way would work. I switch out with a player that mics his cab. I just unplug the mic, and plug the XLR cable into the back of my DT25.
