Description of amp function tests

Hello,

I know that its possible to do 10 amp function tests by hold the store button while turning on the amp.

Is ther any detailed description for each function?

I added an Effects Loop to my old AX2!

So I have an Line6 AX2 that I luv, but I got a looper for Xmas, and it's the one effect that the AX2 is missing...

Now if I place the looper between the guitar and AX2, the guitar is recorded 'clean' so that any effects that I set are applied to all loops as well as the live soloing. Not nice.

So I searched Google for 'line6 ax2 schematic' - and to my surprise, I got a hit at: http://elektrotanya.com/line_6_ax2.pdf/download.html

I downloaded the schematics, and wow - this is the easiest modification to make! I didn't even have to cut any traces - Line6 ran a multiwire jumper from the main board to the master volume pot break-out board that I can hack!

So the 'splice out' to a send/receive pair of 1/4" jacks can be made right on the cable that links up to the master volume pot.

Since the AX2 is in stereo (and my looper isn't) - I only spliced in to the Left channel - but with stereo jacks, you could splice both wire 1 and wire 4 just as easily.

I also used a 1/4" jack with a switched contact on the receive jack (it switches as you push in the plug) - so that the receive defaults to getting the 'shorted' send signal - if you don't plug anything in the the loop.

This way the amp runs normally with no loop cords plugged in.

But plug a cord into the (upper) new send jack on the back panel to connect to the looper input, and another cord from the looper output to the (lower) new receive jack on the back panel, and its magic!

BTW, it works great! I can record a loop with rhythm guitar effects on, and then play the loop back to the power amp while I solo (in stereo) with lead guitar effects!

Can I sync my AX2 MIDI with Ableton?

Hey there all. I'm trying to output the MIDI clock from my AX2 212 to Ableton Live so that I can record its Delay effects in time with my Ableton project. I have it routed from MIDI Out / In to USB and I can see my device (M-Audio MIDI-Sport Uno 1x1 in the MIDI Setup) but I don't see any sort of MIDI information being sent. Also, how would I be able to set the BPM for the Delay effect? Is this sort of feature (MIDI clock sync) something that wasn't built into the AX2 because it wasn't something common to do (using DAWs) back in 97~98?

AX 212 Volume Problem

Yesterday during a gig suddenly the volume changed from low to high/loud.

This happened three or four times.

I also used the pedalboard.

Any ideas?

AX2 Floorboard Expression (Wah) pedal

Mine has stopped working... I took the floorboard apart and it all seems to be working. The film strips are running through where they are supposed to. I know this problem was discussed on the old board, but can't remember what to do. Any ideas?

Issues with AX2 Controller

I bought an AX2 a few years back. Love the amp, but I have a problem with my controller board in the middle of gigs re-assigning patches. Very strange thing occurs because I'll start off playing and a specific patch will not be at the assigned location it maybe when i stomp the expression pedal. Anyone have any suggestions on what could be causing this.....??

AX2 battery question

Back in one of the old forums, someone (Lemmie I think) detailed the procedure to check the battery status and something else. I have lost track of that post and would like to check my AX2's battery. It's over 10 years old, so I know I'm on borrowed time. A few months ago I was playing and a user patch reverted to the stock patch for that location. I assumed the battery was dead. I was playing with it the other day and noticed that all my presets were where they should be. Weird. I plan on doing the battery replacement in the near future, but just wanted to see if something else could be wrong AND figure out the procedure. I can't find it in the FAQ or any other documentation out there... Thanx!

What a great amp the AX2 is! Mine hasn't been played much in the last 4 years (bought a vetta II years ago and now an Axe-FX). I have to let the amp and pedal go,

but it all works great still. I purchased a rack unit and no longer carry the amp and speakers around (I'm too old for this stuff). Had to replace the cat5 cable...

Did a video to show everything is working geat. I also have pictures if anyone is interested.

Will use paypal to sell, $285 for amp and pedalboard. I will box it up well and the buyer pays for shipping - so you can get whatever you like, next day if you prefer!

How should the AxSYS 212 act after the conversion to AX2

I'm hoping someone has some experience with this.

Quick history. A friend had the amp in MINT condition and perfect operation. He decided to do a "Factory Reset". It wiped out the guitar input. All you get is snapping static sounds and the display reads "E01". He tried contacting Line 6 many times and had no luck. He gave me the amp with very little hope of my being able to do much better. I paid to send the amp to the Line6 registered repair shop in, I believe, it was Ohio. I got it back and was told it needed a new motherboard and it was not available. Case closed.

I reasoned that the whole problem started when my friend tried to reset to factory settings. What if the factory settings were corrupt? The unit would think it was trying to edit. Made sense to me. Then it happened....I found someone selling an ORIGINAL CONVERSION AXSYS212 to AX2. It had the original box/ the EPROM chip/the new button pad and the new stick on label for the front. WOW. What a find!!!

Tonight I installed the chip and theres good news and bad news. Good news is the display doesnt resd E01 anymore (Yeah!!!!0 It now reads P30 P29 P28 P27 etc.

The display keeps scrolling through all the presets.I tried a factory reset and it did no good. Nothing makes it stop scrolling.

I would suspect that the display should read P01 and stay there.

If anyone has any ideas I would greatly appreciate it. If I cant get it to work Ill have to relist the upgrade on Ebay and consider myself defeated.

This has never happened to my AX2 212. When the power is on the display says err and the amp makes a light popping sound. Any suggestions? It seems to be stuck in a loop. The display goes through a series of presets and scambled numbers over and over.

Any AX2 players out there??

I just was turned on to this amp a month ago from a friend of mine. I was in the market for a new amp (all my gear was stolen about 8 years ago) and played through his. He had a tone that I .........well, had a spiritual moment after playing though it for a few seconds. I found one on craigs list and got it in like new condition with the original owners manual and all the paper work...........with the killer foot pedal for a steal at $250.00.

You can get ANY FREAKING TONE you want with this thing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone still running with these please post up and show respect to Line 6 for such an AMAZING AMP please.

Also share (if you will) any tips or any add on's for this amp.

I work for Guitar Center in Lake Forest Ca. and sell alot of Line 6 products because I LOVE them and believe in the company....
