Dead Variax 700 Electric

My Variax 700 electric went dead in mid-tune. Changed the batteries, of course, and all I get is a faint "motorboating" kind of sound. the controls have no effect.

I suspect a circuit board and I am worried that the price may exceed what I want to pay. Loved the guitar until this happened.

Any help?

How many of us use our V1 Variax as our main guitar now?

I just wanted to know how many of you use your Variax as your main guitar.

I know people argue that the Variax isn't spot on to what the models are modeled after, but I think that they're very close, very usable, and is very easy to get closer to a specific sound with workbench.

300/500/700 DSP board into 600?

I was wondering, if all the guts are compatable with one another Version 1 Variax guitars.

My 600 seems to be warbling really bad on the G string when I alternate tune it, so if I could switch out the part that's malfunctioning that would be nice.

I want to transplant the circuitry from a Variax 300 to a 500

I have a fully functional Variax 300. I also have a Variax 500 with a bad motherboard. The 500 has a much better neck, body and hardware. They are not they same inside. Has anyone had success with this transplant? Any resources or advice? Does any one have a 500 motherboard they would like to sell?

Will my Variax 600 be powered by a Variax Digital Cable and an HD500?

I have a Variax 600 and an HD500 but lost my original Variax cable. I'm considering buying one of these cables: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/accessories/line-6-variax-digital-cable

What I'd like to know is: will the Variax be powered if I connect it to the HD500 with this cable or will I still need to use batteries?

Problema con Workbench y Variax 700 electrica.

Hola compañeros.

Ya he reestablecido varias veces la memoria de mi guitarra pensando que era la solución pero sigo con el problema. Conecto sin problemas mi Variax 700 al Workbench y puedo variar los sonidos , pero es imposible variar afinaciones para los sonidos acústicos. En el momento que coloco una cejilla virtual en un sonido acústico, el sonido general de esa guitarra acústica queda completamente como desafinado. Alguien me puede ayudar.

Pregunta sobre las cajas de alimentacion de las Variax.

Hola compañeros, tengo una Variax 700 Electrica y una Variax 300 Nylon , quisiera saber si puedo utilizar la caja de alimentación / conexión de la 700 para la 300, ya que cuando tengo que tocar con las dos necesito muchos cables. Tabién quiera saber si esta misma caja de conexiones alimentación la puedo utilizar para conectar cualquier otra guitarra en linea con un cable jack estandar.

Gagbag's strap is bad. Don't use it

So I packed my 600 in my gigbag and when I walked out the door, the "metal" hook that goes to the triangle or such broke, and my 600 fell on the sidewalk, body facing down.

Thankfully the gigbag is nice and padded so I don't hear or see any damage when I checked it.

Just a fair warning. Get rid of the hook and just tie the strap really tight into the other cloth loop. It can't handle the weight of the guitar. The hook/snap is made out of cheap material.

Variax 300 - Selector Knob - is it supposed to have an LED?

Hi as I am awaiting being able to get my hands on a JTV-89F, I picked up a used Variax 300 (electric).

I am unsure of one aspect related to the Variax 300 and so far, have been unable to figure it out.

There is a tiny hole (obviously intentional) just north of the "selector knob". It is located in a spot that indicates the selected model. And it appears to simply be a hole on my guitar. But I was wondering if it is perhaps intended to have a tiny LED in it. Some photos I've seen on the web look like it is a tiny LED. Others look like an empty hole. Some make it look like it is just a dome shaped tiny piece of metal. And still others look like there is no such thing (as far as I can tell).

So, can someone tell me definitively what it is supposed to be (i.e. if it was new)?

Upcoming HD Workbench request: global string-to-string balance!

My biggest headache with Variax (I've had a V300 for 6 yrs & just bought a JTV59) has been getting the string-to-string balance set so that it sounds right in all the models I use. For example, I might set it so the s-t-s balance is perfect for an acoustic model, then find that the D string is howling loud in a Tele. I've been so annoyed with this that the main reason I got the JTV is that it has its own mag pups: I can set up the s-t-s balance for acoustics and use the mags for elec sounds. But this just helps; it doesn't really solve the problem. I'M HOPING THAT THE UPCOMING WORKBENCH HD WILL FINALLY ALLOW STRING-TO-STRING BALANCE ADJUSTMENT ON A PER-MODEL BASIS, INSTEAD OF GLOBALLY. There, I can turn my Caps Lock off now. That was my rant. . .
