Line 6 Spider IV 120 as a Head? Was told I could....

Hey all,

Bought the Line 6 Spider IV 120 Watt a while back and was told I could run it as a head. I bought the 120 over the 150 as it was going to be in my bedroom 90% of the time and it was a little smaller and lighter yet I could still use it as a head (or so I was told). I have been researching lately and it seems to me that I can't because it has a Direct Out and not Speaker Outs. Is this right or can I simply run a Stereo 1/4" TRS from the Direct Out into a Cab? (Obviously match the Ohms and whatnot, i'm not that silly)

Can I connect my Spider IV 75 combo to a 4x12 cab via the direct out output?

Im thinking about buying a Marshall or blackstar head and I was wondering if there was any way that I could use my current amp (Spider IV 75) as the cab. I don't think you can but I just wanna make absolutley sure

I'm asking this because.... I've just bricked my Fbv Exress MKII while upgrading Spider firmware.

Not entirely my fault, indeed, more a bug in Fbv firmware.

Anyone knows if it is possible to use the JTV usb interface to connect Spider IV with a computer?

The connections seem to be right: rj45 on Spider side and usb on computer side.

I wolud like to get an expert advice, in order to avoid thrashing some other piece of equipment.

I have a IV 75 and im trying to get a Bon Jovi setting for some of there old stuff, and basically its doing my head in. Any answer would be much appreciated.

Can't get rid of short slap ???

Before I open a support ticket I thought I would ask the forum about this issue.

Spider IV120 about 2 years or so old. Working fine up until a day or so ago.

I noticed some unwanted distortion coming from clean tones. I noticed specifically that Sine Chorus was distorting in the post position .... never did that before.

So ....

I re-Initialized the amp ..... no difference.

I re-flashed the amp with 2.0 firmware .... this seemed to fix the distortion problem however I now have a very short slap on everything. Turning up and off all the fx knobs does not get rid of it. Using Line 6 Edit to make sure there are no efx active still doesn't get rid of it. Nothing gets rid of it. It is on ALL amp models exactly the same. One would call it "non removable global slap".

I am thinking it is a DSP chip issue? Has anyone experienced this problem and has a solution ???

I am thinking of maybe going back to an earlier firmware to see if it is still there then coming back to V2.0.

line 6 edit adjustments and how they effect tone ?

Is there a link to more information on the line 6 edit adjustments and how each of them affect the tone. Such as the settings associated with the Gate,FX1, 2 & 3, Reverb pre and post editing. I'm also a little confused as to why the wah settings are showing options that dont show up on my amp but are in the edit program. I have downloaded the updates for my amp and noticed some new chorous, flanger and phaser that I didn't have before, which is great! I'm just looking for more info on the adjustments before I spend a ton of time playing with them blindly as a way to learn. My gear is a PRS, Line6 spider4 75W with a line6 MKll shortboard. Any help will be much appreciated.

hello everyone...new line 6 spider IV hd150 owner here, and would like to ask a question...

considering I`m not the fastest learner when it comes to this newer fancy stuff..LOL...should i still get the FBV Mk11 shortboard, instead of the more basic express version?...I can afford the shortboard if need be, but just not sure if it`s gonna be alot harder to learn to oporate and/or if it`s worth the extra $$ etc..any and all thoughts would be greatly apreciated!

FWIW, me and a few friends get together and play everything from light/acustic type music, to metal etc..so i do need to be ae to change sounds with relitive ease..

There's no problem with the disto without pedal, but as I put it, there are some sizzles.

I tried to change the setting, to look where the problem could come from but I didn't find anything =/

If somebody has an idea please tell me
