How to get a good sound with an acoustic guitar

Hi,

I have an 20D with 2 L3Ms and have problems getting a good sound with my acoustic guitar. I have a Baggs M80 soundhole pickup installed in my dreadnaught Martin HD28 and the sound I get in the speakers is slightly aggressive and medium. I tried to remove 2 frequencies (400kHz and 1200kHz) but I still get a sound that is not very pleasant to my ear.

Any advice with this PA? Thank you!

Hi guy's,

Could someone let me know. I do shows etc and during songs and between them Myself and my team sometimes chat to each other or to the crowd. Is there a way to pull the reverb out over-all as in a master slider type thing.

32Gb SD CARD - Reading WAV files recorded on M20d

Hi.

I've recently bought a M20d and a 32Gb SD card to record audio from gigs that I do and run. I've successfully recorded a test song which has resulted in a vocal wav file and a guitar wav file.

I've tried inserting the SD card into my iMac and a Windows 7 laptop, but neither seem to recognise the card.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is going on and how I fix the issue?

My M20d always thinks there is a monitor plugged in to the "C" monitor output!

It's annoying because a monitor icon keeps appearing on the stage and I have to manually delete it each time!!!

I bought it from Thomman and I'm form Portugal. Now I'll have to send it to Germany? DAM!!!! I use to work every day....

Does any body know of a kick fix for this?

Compressor: how much gain reduction?

In the deap-tweak window for the compressor settings I can find a meter for visualisation of gain reduction on the very right.

But I can't find a scale for the value of gain reduction. Is there a way to quantify the amount of gain reduction, for example a total peak makes 12 dB, the half 6 dB, ...?

Hello

i have M20d and both dongles Samsung WIS12A and Linksys AE1000. can not connect my M20d with iPad4 , its a lucky change when it works, Samsung was a bit better, now after last OS-Update connection is impossible, does anybody have an idea, whats the problem?

iPad cannot find Wifi of M20d, sometimes its showed , but no connection! searching, searching,...

I work with a group of musicians who play on a virtual world on the internet called Second Life. About 6 times a year, we get about 20 musicians and 30-50 fans, rent a hotel meeting room and jam for 3 days straight. No schedule, musicians come up, plug in and start jamming with others. To keep things small (and fit in my car) I have 2 bose compact speakers (so no need for monitors) and the M20D. This ROCKED. There were no sound checks ahead of time, (since didn't know who was playing or, on what inputs, so needed a way to quickly adjust trim, levels, etc. We also streamed the sound into Second Life and broadcast the video (and audio!) on Livestream. This little mixer was simple, (could teach others how to handle the mixer when I was AFK) and just worked really really well. Attached is a picture of part of the fun!

Mastering a Recording with m20d

I want to master a Gig Recording from 10 channels recorded on sd card with different effects and levels and rececord the Main out's. It seem's to be difficult, cause i can't use USB to Computer for recording the Master (post fader) from 17/18, it's locked while USB is used.

So the only possible way is to use the headphone stereo out to Master within m20d with bad audio quality!?

Am i on the wrong way?

Do I need a DI Box?

I plan to buy an LR Baggs M80 for my acoustic guitar (it can be set to active or passive mode). Do I need a DI Box to connect to the StageScape? If so, should it be active or passive?

I play about 2 meters away from the StageScape.

Feedback Suppression Questions

I'm really digging the feedback suppression on the M20d and the Stagesource Speakers. I've found that so far I can crank the volume up beyond what I need and make the mics feedback on purpose. Then I just listen as one by one different frequencies start to build up feedback and then then just go silent. Then I just roll back to the level I'm actually going to play at and I'm good to go. I like to do it this way because if you have that frequency that just on the edge and really just kind of rings as you sing, then it doesn't get built up enough for the M20d or the speakers to recognize it and notch it out.

But it brings up a few questions,

1) I read in the stagesource manual that if you turn off the feedback suppression using the feedback suppression on/off buttons that it resets itself. But what about when you turn off the speakers themselves? When you turn them back on are they "remembering" the frequencies that they notched out?

2) What is the reccommendation regarding using the feedback suppression on the speakers and the M20d? Are they both active? Does one supercede the other or is there a physical priority in the order in which they work?

3) As in question number 1, I'm wondering about how and when the feedback suppression parameters get saved or how to reset them and when they are lost on the M20d. And I guess depending on these answers do they get saved with a setup?

All I found in the manual on the feedback suppression for the M20d was that it's in the input tab of deep tweak and that there is vocal and universal settings. I'm also familiar with the feedback suppression reset button in the deeptweak but I'm more interested in what happens when I don't touch that but turn off the system and or load new setups or save current setups. I really want to understand as much as I can about this so that I can use it to my advantage. Obviously if I'm using the technique as described above, what we always called "ringing out the room", I don't want to go into a bar and do that when it's full of people, if possible I'd want to go in at a time when there isn't anyone there, setup, ring out the room, maybe a quick sound check and then just come back later and play with no worries. So then I need to know if I shut down the system will I still be good to go when I fire it back up? Also if I were to ring out the room in a certain club at one gig, if I was able to save that setup with the feedback suppression settings, as long as I set up the speakers the same way the next time we play there maybe I don't have to ring out the room again I just load up that preset and I'm good to go.
