This is a quick list of which effects will preserve an incoming stereo signal and which ones will sum a stereo signal to mono.  Generally, the distortions and dynamics will sum to mono, while most of the mods, filters, and delays will preserve the stereo signal.  All of the reverbs, wahs and eq's preserve a stereo signal.
