No Sound from Podfarm UX1 in OS X El Capitan

Recommended Posts

I've been using my Pod UX1 for about 5 years now with absolutely no issues.
Today i updated to El Capitan and suddenly i'm getting no audio from pod farm and no visible input signal.

Not only that but when i try to open Logic Pro 9 it scans all my audio units and then stops on POD Farm forever.

It will NOT scan Podfarm.

What is wrong here? I have all the latest drivers etc but it just isn't working.

Should i try reinstalling podfarm or is it simply that Line 6 hasn't updated it yet?

HELP

Same here, no sound in my UX1 since I've installed El Capitan, it's totally unacceptable and not professional at all. I'm a Line6 client since a long time and I never met a such situation, if we don't have a solution fast I will consider to change to an another company, it's a shame ! All of us have works to do, agendas to follow and we can't know this kind of situation.

I wrote to service center and line 6 replied as below. I don't know what this reply means. Is line 6 working on driver update now? Or line 6 gives us up?

" We're sorry you're experiencing issues with functionality. We have discovered an incompatibility of the Line 6 USB audio driver version 7.3.8 and Mac OS 10.11 El Capitan. After updating to MacOS 10.11 the Line 6 USB audio driver will no longer pass audio. Line 6 Applications that rely on this driver, for example Line 6 Monkey, will therefore not process audio or allow hardware configuration changes. Please understand that in addition to ensuring that the update resolves the current issue, we must also ensure that new issues are not introduced. We cannot commit to any specific release estimate for that reason.

We thank you for your patronage and your patience. We apologize for any inconvenience you’ve experienced.

Kind regards,

Jason-Line 6 support"

Some people said Mac OS X El Capitan 10.11.1 beta version works well with Line 6 product. So I tried and it worked so far !!

Below is what I do:

1. You have to join the apple beta software program (https://beta.apple.com/sp/en/betaprogram/) to download the 10.11.1 beta version and then install it.

2. Then I download the Line 6 driver for Yosemite (http://line6.com/software/index.html) and then install it.

3. Reboot and it worked so far !!

It is bad to have no sound from the UX1, yes. I feel your pain, same here. But if you are talking about "professional" then the fault is your own. You forgot one cardinal rule: if you rely on your equipment to work, you DON'T perform a major update like an OS update without knowing that everything you use is compatible with the new release. Especially not in the middle of a project. And I mean not just that you have not read about problems, but that people (preferably the developers) have verified that your setup works. And second, if you rely on your equipment to work then you should have a backup you can roll back to in case of problems.

That said, I'm wondering why there is a mention of the incompatibility between the 7.3.8 drivers and Yosemite in the Japanese knowledge base but none in the English one…

Yikes. That doesn't bode well I think. I hope this isn't the end of my use of my UX1...

Same here... got a new Mac due to an complete hardware Issue with installed El Capitan... everything works fine exept the damn UX1... very upset. And i don't want to downgrade my whole system regarding security issues in Yosemite. But i think i'll have to.

I don't know why you guys don't develop a driver during the beta of El Capitan - or even check it out that the old one is working in the beta. Do you really have so little Mac users?

If I'm not mistaken this is the second time that Line 6 has been behind the ball when there has been an OS upgrade - or at least in my experience anyway.

I'm seriously considering moving to another platform after this one. At the very least Line 6 should be posting updates as to their progress and an anticipated release date.

FWIW, users are reporting the issue is fixed with the current OSX beta, which would imply it was an issue on Apple's end.

The El Captain release broke drivers for other interfaces too, not just Line6.

So if it is a bug an Apple's end, why would any company try to write drives for it??

Yes, I agree with you!

it seems that Apple should be responsible for this, not Line 6.

But I think line 6 can tell us to download 10.11.1 beta version to solve the problem temporarily, rather than doing nothing.

And by the way, why Focusrite's product has no problem with El Capitan?

Line 6 should think about it.

Not all of Focusrite's products are immune from this.  The Scarlett products seem to have squeaked by though. You can get more info here https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-8801

So that means UX1 works now with OSX El Capitan, and nobody from line6 informs us? Hard to understand but we´ll try. Thanks for your post.

The update came out only yesterday… I'm thinking that Line6 want to make sure all their products work before they make a statement…
