Should I Pair Pod Hd500 And Roland Cube 40xl For Jtv-58?

Recommended Posts

New to Electric... Blown out by Line6 Variax and really appreciate the Pod HD500

Would there be a good benefit to pairing with a Roland 40xl for a late night bedroom setup?  Would never be gigged.   My friend has a Cube and as a practice amp, it sounds great, even using the Headphone Jack.

Recently retired and will sit on the porch learning to play this stuff!

Thanks a lot.  I know zero about amps, boxes. electronics and a couple of open chords.

I'm sure you could get good results with the Roland - it can give a very clean tone and would not interfere too much with the tone produced by the HD500. You would need to experiment with the HD500 amp selection and output settings. Try the HD500 using preamps in Live output mode, or with full amps in Studio mode. You will soon decide which you prefer.

Another option would be to consider a keyboard amp or a studio monitor (or two for stereo!) rather than a guitar amp. Keyboard amps and studio monitors are designed to provide a very clean tone - meaning it would not colour the tone produced by the HD500 so much. In that case I would definitely stick with the HD500 Full amps and Studio output mode.

I have an older Cube 20x and I use it at home and at rehearsal. It is small, has great tone, and is plenty loud enough for those purposes.I run a PODxt Live and JTV-89 through it. I love the tone!
