Using the variax with the POD XT Live/X3 - routing the sounds?!

hey folks...
before i splash all my hard earned $$$ on the POD XT LIVE or X3 I just got one really big question...
you see the great thing with the VARIAX is that you have all the electric sounds but then you have the acoustic tones which work great for gigs too..
BUT! when you route the variax through the pod xt live or x3, will it come out into the mixer with that same acoustic tone??
can you route the electric and acoustic sounds out the standard POD outputs to the same mixer channel and get the full acoustic tone on the patches which select acoustic guitars from the variax....?
hope some of you get what im asking here ;)
thanks

oh and one last thing,... the xt live or x3 they both have compressors built in to the effects yes??
are the compressors any good??
If you use the VDI cable with your Variax and XT / X3, the pedal will actually control the guitar model on your Variax for you (if you so choose). For accoustic sounds (I have a 700 and an X3Live) I just have a patch set up for an accoustic amplifier with some slight chorus and reverb. Any time I wish to use that, I just switch to that patch and call it good. The best part about it is that I can switch patches mid-song (for a solo for example) and I'm instantly playing a Les Paul through a Marshall stack... Then back again.
I personally don't use the external box that came with my Variax because my X3L does everything for me.
Hope this helps.
In my opinion ( and my ear ) I have tried the cable that controls the patches and whatnot. I think that the AB box with the XLR to the board for the acoustic sounds alot better than trying to put the acoustic patches through the X3. Unfortunately with the cable this can't be done. I have been using line 6 gear for 12 years and still have everything that I have ever purchased including the original Axis 1 amp...still in the flight case. I would recommend line 6 highly.
Thanks a lot folks...
you see that is what i was worried about.
i use the variax 600 thru the A/B box live with acoustic sounds going thru XLR direct to PA.
And I do that because the acoustic sounds so good.
its not like a real acoustic guitar but its fine for live use IMO....
whereas if I lose that then thats the main gain of teh Variax gone for me.
yes its nice to have all the different electrics but the main thing is to be able to be on stage and go from a pure acoustic tune to a full rock tune without changing guitar... and for that acoustic sound not to have that horrible "acoustic emulation" sound that most electrics thru pedal boards has..!
SO to take the last posters advice i might just stick with the A/B box... would love to hear from soemone who think s the acoustic thru the POD X3 live doesnt sound any worse...
IMO im a buit surprised LINE 6 did not have a separate XLR output for Variax acoustic sounds from the X3 Live... its a HUGE feature of the variax that it can do this...
cheers and thanks

I use a X3 live and a variax 600 and plug into my Yamaha PA system.
I use tone one for the various guitars (electric and acoustic) Teak them and save them to a patch that is set to all the way right (stereo field) and plug into a channel using the XLR output. I like the vocal preamps so I plug my mike in and use tone two of each patch and pan it all the way left and plug it into another channel. When using the lock I now get the same vocal (mike) settings when I change my preset patch on my X3 pedal board.
It works well for me be able to switch from a strat into a bassman amp to an acoustic guitar into a acoustic amp and keep my mike settings the same
