personally, i'm a slipknot fan, but i've been hearing storys saying that slipknot copied mushroomhead cuz of the similarities.
mushroom head has (to my knowledge) 8 members, 1 drummer, 2 percussionists, 1 vocalist, 1 keyboard/sampler, 2 guitarists, 1 bassist, and wear maskes.
slipknot has (and i know this for a fact) 9 members, 1 DJ, 1 sampler/keyboardist, 1 drummer, 2 percussionists, 2 guitarists, 1 bassist, 1 vocalist and also wear masks. fans of both bands say that the other copied them. these are the stories of why slipknot wears masks. bassist paul gray saw mushroomhead and said that slipknot should wear masks and copied mushroomheads bassist by wearing a pig mask. slipknot side: while practicing for a demo, percussionist shawn crahan (and this was with 1 w/o the electronics and the vocalist was a percussionist) brought his clown mask and boiler suit to practice in for a song called tattered and torn and would always wear it during that song. so, drummer joey jordison brought in a plain white mask to practice in, and eventually as the band turned into the band they are today, they all started bringing in masks. tell me what you think. are you on the slipknot side? mushroomhead?
Really, really, really.. at this point, who cares?
Alice Cooper started all this shock-theatrics stuff in rock music ages ago and probably he also copied it from someone else, maybe Arthur Brown.
I say that both ripped off Gwar..

Arthur Brown was doing it in the 60's before Alice Cooper.

I'm sorry... what does this have to do with music theory?
