wog,
The song doesn't sound fully developed, and the distorted rhythm guitar is ear-piercing to me. Otherwise, I think it sounds pretty good!
Thanks for the feedback. But its only a skeleton ![]()
Here are a couple of full pre production ones.....
Cheers !
wog,
"Can't Stop Loving You" sounds good.
Here is one more... No vocals and no real idea. Been using it for some sports backingtrack for now.
You think it can be a song? or do i stick to it being a backing track ?
Cheers
wog,
I think your RiffIdea rocks! You should definitely turn this into a song with some vocals (I hear Rob Halford in my head) and some lead guitar!
Heya !
Thanks Aaron.... Yeah i like the riff and can hear a halford , geoff tate doin it.. ![]()
Cheers !
I really like the style.Very,"White Snake" but that's not a bad thing. There's a lot wrong with the mixes unfortunately.Guitar sounds are great etc but there's too many volume and mixing faults.
In the spririt of collaboration I re-mastered it the best I could with an mp3.
Still good songs though ![]()
shepp,
I'm guessing you added some sort of compression? I hear some volume "pumping" going on. It was nice of you to do that though.
That's one of the problems with the original mix.The vocals have not been treated/recorded consistently along with other things so when you try to master it it will show up the bad parts more.
shepp,
Just out of curiousity, do you like using Multi-band compressors? My Korg D3200 has some: I'm never happy with it overall if I apply it to the whole mix because it adds significant distortion & kills some of the nice dynamics. It does pump up the volume though. Not ready to try Reaper yet. Too many headaches with new software as it is. Still learning Cubase. I'm starting to like it as a VST sequencer.
I have used multi-band compressers and there's a good one that comes with Reaper but I like to try and track Guitars/Bass etc so they need as little mixer treatment as I can and therefore use one of the other great VSTs that comes with Reaper called,"ReaComp".In saying that I usually EQ and Comp the guitars and bass quite often even if it's only subtle. The compressor in Podfarm is ok but too limited in most cases.
Listening to the first one now. I like it. The dirty guitars are a little sizzly. Could probably tame the very top end on those a little. Otherwise i really dig it. What did you use for the bass?
The dirty guitars on the other two tracks sit much better. I like the music on Can't stop loving you. Well composed. There is space for everything.
I like the song a lot, but not the sound of the gainy guitars.
Stay in the mix and in the know.
