Guitar Port USB audio interface problems

After years of trouble free use have just bought a new laptop but can't get Guitar Port working properly on it - loads of crackle, not much guitar.
The problem seems to be with the USB connection. In the Guitar Port control console the USB audio interface light is flashing, which it doesn't do on the old laptop. I have had both laptops running swaping the USB cable between them and the old one still works perfectly.
Any help appreciated.
Hello,
If you just purchased a new laptop then chances are you are running a new operating system on that. Is that correct?
If so you may need to download newer versions of Line 6 software as well. Please let me know what OS you are running so I can tell you what you need to download. Thanks.

Hello,
If that's the case then make sure to download the latest version of Gearbox from our software downloads page.
Please let me know if this answer has been helpful. Thanks.

Hi
I've downloaded and installed Gearbox v3.70, but still have the same problem - all pop and crackle, little guitar!
Here, in a bit more detail, are the problems I'm experiencing:
Basicly, I can't work out why it won't work. The device and the screen the indicators show there is a signal getting in but the sound out is terrible.
What to try next?
Hello,
One thing I can say is that monitoring out of laptop speakers isn't the best way to do this. I'd suggest using headphones or external speakers plugged directly into the TonePort, especially if it's going to act as your external sound card.
There are several reasons why you may be getting pops, clicks, and hum with our USB devices. Here are some things you should check first.
1. Fill out your support profile at http://line6.com/account/supportprofile/
2. Ensure that you have tested all cables to make sure that they are not defective (USB, audio, etc.)
3. Ensure that you have all cables connections set up properly
4. Adjust the Buffer Slider in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Control Panel. (Windows Users: Start/All Programs/Line6/Tools/Audio-MIDI Devices; Mac Users: System Preferences/Other/Audio-MIDI Devices)
5. Adjust Sample Rates and Bit Depths in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Control Panel and ensure that the Sample Rates and Bit Depth settings in the Line 6 Audio MIDI Control Panel also match the project settings in your DAW/recording application
6. Ensure that you have the Line 6 device set up in your operating system as the main input/output device (sound card); disable internal sound card in your operating system’s Device Manager control panel
7. Ensure that your Line 6 USB Device is not connected to a powered USB hub; direct USB ports are required and please try ALL available direct USB ports during the troubleshooting process
8. Remove all non-essential USB peripherals from the computer (not the mouse or keyboard)
9. Disable any wireless cards on computer in Device Manager
10. Set Power Schemes on computer in Control Panel (PC Only) to Always On
11. There are also several other tips and optimizations you can make on your PC. Please refer to the following document for more information:
Please try all of the above first and let us know if you continue to have any more problems. Thanks!

Hello,
Just following up to see if you are still having issues with your device. Thanks.

Hey,
It seems that I am having the same problem.
I have IBM T60 laptop with vista that is working fine with GutarPort (XT I think).
I have a Windows XP computer that is just giving me distorted noice from guitarport when trying to play anything through it.
I have disabled my soundblaster audigy and did all the steps mentioned. Surfed this site for a long time without any help.
Drivers are up to date and so on.. nothing seems to help
edit: I can tune the guitar ok and everything seems to work in gearbox, just the audio output is noise
Hello,
It's been a couple of days since we've heard from you. We're going to assume your question has been answered and close this thread. If you still have questions please feel free to open a new question with us and we will answer your questions accordingly. Thanks!
I am having the same problem on vista 64bit I read the post but nothing seems to work
I reported in another thread that I got it working by disabling soundblaster, uninstalling sb software and it worked.
After that I only installed sb drivers (not any other sw) and now both soundcards work.
