I have a Spider IV 75, and mine has a Slipknot artist preset in it, that would work for dualty. It aslo has an As I Lay Dying preset so you could use that for Sound of Truth. If you have a different Spider IV, check out the artist presets, Im sure it would have the same ones. Im not too sure though.

Any one out there know how to obtain a Dokken/lynch tone on the spider 4?

Also besides the presets on there already how about some more Scorpions tones and metallica tones. Rhythm and lead.

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

    Ok this is easy

    Tremelo-10

    Bass-5

    Mid-10

    Drive-10

    Chan. Volume-7

    Gain-9 to 9.5

    Delay-1.5 to 2

These settings sound great on everything but they sound best on insane or crunch (adjust it the way you like it)

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

Now Im sure this is wrong, but im sure you could play around with this as a start. I found that:

      Module - Insane (Green)

      Drive - 8ish

      Bass - 4

      Mid - 5 or 6

      Treble - 8ish

Channel Vol - doesn't really matter, but Ilike 10

1 Gain - about half more or less (Red Comp)

      2 none

      3 none

Reverb - point it at about 10 o' clock.

I think this sounds pretty good when I play their songs, but If you have any changes please tell me. Hope this helps.

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

hey everyone, i recently discovered this master setting that's good for pretty much anything metal, and covers just about anything with a few tweaks.

      channel - insane

      drive - 4 to 7

      bass - 5 to 9

      mids - 2 to 5

      treble - 6 to 8

      reverb - 2 to 4

      other effects - your choice

the reason alot of these are variable is because this general ballpark of settings has a wide range of applications and has alot of base in personal preference. but basically, this is how you can tell where to line up each individual setting:

drive - basically, this is just a matter of how heavy you want your tone to be. if you need a moderately crunchy, classic rock-ish tone, then go a little lower. if you want a highly distorted, experimental/industrial sound, then go alot higher. if you want a nice metal-hearty tone with just enough distortion to get good palm muting, then go for the middle. the only thing i'd warn against is applying more distortion than you need, because this causes everything you do on the fretboard to be heard more than it should be, such as fingers sliding across, etc. so the less distortion, the less your background noises are highlighted. you want to have a balance here between heaviness and playability.

bass - again, heaviness comes to play here. the more bass you have, the deeper your tone is going to sound. however, i've noticed that sometimes if i have too much bass, the palm muting tends to get blurred and sound bulky, so i wouldn't recommend going too crazy on the bass unless it goes flush with your other settings.

mids - here, the numerical ratio to heaviness is just the opposite. if you want a heavier metal/thrash sound, then go for lower mids. but if you want to have a classier rock feel, raise your mids a little. it's also just mostly personal preference, so adjust according to what you want to hear.

treble - on the other hand, your treble should be a little more constant. it's basically entirely personal preference, but leaning towards a higher treble does result in a newer metal sound, so keep that in mind as well. either way, you wanna keep it fairly high for anything you're gonna play, cause most guitar notes are on the treble side and need enough of it to sound out properly.

reverb - all in all, reverb just adds polish to your tone. so if you want a more classic sounding or 80s-based tone, then go a little higher on reverb. if you want a more modern sound, lower the reverb a little. but personally, i wouldn't recommend going much higher than halfway on the reverb, cause at that point the aftereffects tend to sound a little less desirable.

other effects - for the most part, it's all about personal preference. most of the effects are straight forward and their applications to your tone should be easily figured out, but if you have trouble, just listen to the style you're trying to mimic and adjust to fit. that's pretty much all i can say.

so yeah, there you have it folks. basically this entire setting mimics the typical marshall halfstack, the king of 80s metal and beyond. so if you're playing anything like metallica, megadeth, dokken, bullet for my valentine, black veil brides, judas priest, etc, then you should be able to emulate any varieties of these and more with the basics of this setting.

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

I spent a few days trying to get a decent Bullet for My Valentine sound out of my new Line 6 Spider IV 75. I think this is pretty close to it:

    Metal RED

    Drive 9-10

    Bass 5

    Mid 6

    Treble 8-9ish

    Chan Vol 10

    Reverb 0

    Master Volume 10 XD

Hope this comes in handy to anyone who listens to decent music out there.

    Regards,

    Ernie

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

Hi...Just purchased a Spider IV 30 yesterday.  I'm a long time tube amp user and wanted to try out the Line6 Spider IV series.  I'm a guitarist in a show band and, because of the stuff we play, I find I'm using clean tones most of the time.  I also find my back getting weaker the older I get so I don't want to lug around a 60 watt Fender Hot Rod Deville any longer.

Do any of you guys have any clean settings to share.  I'm looking for some tones that would allow me to play clean at the loudest volume possible for the amp.  I play a Les Paul studio mostly, sometimes a Strat.

    Thanks,

    Bill in Mobile...

I've been listening a lot lately to a great guitarist out of England by the name of Matt Schofield.  He's got a very jazz like approach to playing the blues which I like very much.  I also love the tone that he's getting out of his rig.  He's got a '61 (I think) Strat with Fralin or Suhr Hot Vintage single coils into a Two Rock amp.  The Two Rock is supposidly a Dumble clone with some extra bells and whistles.  The tone is more mid rangy and has a organic woody quality.  To find something close, I played the MP3 through my IV Spider 30 and dialed in as closely as I could.  What I came up with for a clean tone was this....

(played using my Highway 1 pre-upgrade Strat - unmodded)

    Matt Schofield Clean Tone

    Crunch Red

Drive at 10 o'clock (or so)

Bass, Mid and Treb maxed all the way

    Channel Vol at 3 o'clock.

You want to get the drive not quite to the point of breaking up.

    Here's the overdrive tone...

    Matt Schofield Overdrive Tone

    Crunch Red

    Drive at 1 or 2 o'clock

Bass, Mid and Treb maxed all the way

Channel Vol at 3 o'clock or adjusted to give a boost over the clean channel

    Enjoy...

    Bill

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

    Hey All,

Ive had my Spider IV 75 for over 4 months now and thought Id share some of the settings I use. Hope these are of some help.

    1.

These are what I use for playing Metal/Metalcore, Ive Included a band name for each but many sound good on different songs and visa versa.

    BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE

    - Distortion

    Metal RED

    Drive 9-10

    Bass 5

    Mid 6

    Treble 8-9

    - Clean

    Clean Red

    Gain 8

    Bass 5

    Mid 6

    Treble 9

And I use a "Stereo Delay effect", Choruses, Delays and Echo's all sound good, still trying to work on that perfect Tears Dont Fall sound.

    TRIVIUM

I currently have my amp set to this and it sounds Great for not only Trivium songs, but most metal songs with more grunt than the Bullet sound. Both bands use/used Peavey 6505's but have their tones set differently obviously to set them apart, I like both of these settings equally as much.

    Insane GREEN/RED

    Drive - MAX

    Bass - 7

    Mid - 5

    Treble - 7

    A7X & OTHER

This one is a more fuller sound than the above, although very simillar, very good for drop-tuned breakdowns etc.

    Insane GREEN/RED

    Drive - 8+-

    Bass - 7

    Mid - 8

    Treble - 7

I use the above the most and find they suit most of my Headbanging needs.

    A few more..

    BAND   DRIVE BASS MID TREBLE
    LAMB OF GOD  7 7 6 4/5
    PAPA ROACH  10 8 4 8
    CHILDREN OF BODOM 8 7 4 9
    KILLSWITCH ENGAGE 9 6 4 10
    SLIPKNOT  4 6 8 8
    KORN   4 6 4 6

Hope this helps some of you,

    Regards,

    Liam

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

Here you go - just for the hell of it here are all my Spider IV 150 settings attached (don't mind sharing since, ultimately, it's how you play 'em more than what you play 'em through..) in a word doc.

Some of the patch names are obvious, others less so. I have learnt from experience to always copy a particularly good patch into this word document since, no matter how good the Spider IV edit is, I occasionally lose a patch or two moving them around. And what if the system crashes? Some of these have taken hours of tweaking during rehearsal etc.

BTW I play these with a Gibson LP Standard or LP Custom, except for some of the acoustic settings when I use a Tanglewood 12 string. No other effects.

Hope some of you find these useful/fun.

      Luke

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

        Hey,

im using a 30W spider iv, im not sure if this will do for you but when i try FFDP i like to use these settings

        For rhythm i use:

        • Metal - Green
        • Gain - 10
        • Bass - 7
        • Treble - 7
        • Mid - 4/5
        • Channel - 5

        And for solo's i use:

        • Insane - Red
        • Gain - 10
        • Bass - 7-10
        • Treble - 10
        • Mid - 0
        • Channel - 10

For both channels i have quite a lot of reverb, probably about 4/5 level and for the solos i use just a little bit of delay. I also use a marshall MGDFX100 and the delay in that is brilliant, but for some reason i dont quite get the same from the spider iv.

Hope that was useful to you,

        Christopher

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

Okay, some PG sounds. I don't have his newer sounds (Fuzz Universe) but here I two I use for just about all things Gilbert. First one has that Get Out of  My Yard feel to it. Distotion, but not too much. Second one works really well for Mr Big stuff. I love doing Take a Walk and Daddy Brother with it. I consider both as must haves in my preset list. These are in the Custom Tone section as well for those who would rather download them. F holes for Ibanez sold separately.

          -Paul Gilbert

          Insane Green

          Drive 100

          Bass 91

          Mid 50

          Treble 70

          Ch Vol 81

          FX2 Analog Chorus

          Gate Off (very important)

          -Gilbert Dist

          Insane Green

          Drive 81

          Bass 82

          Mid 50

          Treble 77

          Ch Vol 91

          FX1 Screamer Drive 36 Gain 55 Tone 50

          FX2 Analog Chorus

          FX3 Analog Delay Time 184 Fdback 15 Mix 40

          Gate Off (very important)

          Happy Shredding!

    PANAMA SETTINGS.

Using Line 6 Spider IV 75

Strat style guitar w/maple neck, floyd rose locking trem and moderate output humbucker

    Model....Hi Gain Green

    Drive......3-4(according to pickup output)

    Bass.....10

    Mid.......10

    Treble....5-7(according to guitar)

    Ch.Vol...10

    Reverb....Large Hall

    Rev. Vol..4.5

I also use the Tape delay model with tempo at170-180bpm and feedback at 8% for EVH's single slapback

delays. But all I hear is reverb in Panama.( of course, none of this is set in stone and it is just my interpretation)

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

Just figured out the tone for Sharp Dressed Man from ZZ Top. I use a Spider IV 30, but I don't really think it matters, as long as you can use the appropriate settings.

    Model: Insane Red

    Drive: 11-12 o'clock

    Bass: 4 o'clock

    Mid: 4-5 o'clock

    Treble: 10 o'clock

    Channel Volume: 11 o'clock

    Reverb - 9 o'clock

Adjust pickup selector, volume knobs, and tone knobs to taste.

    Hi,

I just purchased a Spider IV 150 and was wondering if anyone had a tone for EVH Unchained with the Flanger effect. I was searching through the presets and didnt really find anything close. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Fx2 off

    Fx3 off

    Reverb @ 12:00

    - Model Large Hall

    - Routing Post

    - PreDly 0%

    - Decay 30%

Re: Share Your Line 6 Spider IV Settings

thanks for the suggestion. I tried it out. Found this good for boosting volume without having to crank the channel or master volume (for soloing) but i didn't find a real change in tone or distortion with boost. I still need more dirt sound out of this amp. I have the little spider iv 15watter and that one on Metal - drive 100%, bass 12:00, mid 1:00, treb 100% has got some good dirt distortion tone that i can't seem to nail on the spider iv 75watter.

ok now scoop your mids to about 4 or 5 or 6 ur choice. I dont use that booster that much but its looks like a little to many highs but idk if your looking for,but turn your gates thresh down to about -45Dbs and the routing for the booster see how it is in the pre setting it might not be as loud but it will be lot better distorion, you can make up the volume diffrence  by pushing the channel volme to 1o'clock or 2 but that might be a little much, but all i know is its eather pre or post that theres a sound diffrence  but try pre on the booster fx. i might have it mixed up with the pre and post but yea try that.Like i sead before i dont know what tone your looking for but if the reverb is a little to much turn the mix on it down to about 15 or 20. Well try theses things lt me know it comes out.
