*gulp* floyd rose transplant questions

So I bought a 300 to transplant into a floyd-routed body. From what I've read; the easiest route is to find a ibanez double-edge trem with LR Baggs piezos because it drops right in. Behind that is buying a graphtech ghost trem or individual ghost saddles; but this job requires either cutting the wiring harness or buying an adapter from graphtech.
But I've got an extra floyd bridge and wouldn't mind the cheaper alternative attempt of drilling through the bridge plate and into the saddles for a piezo install. I don't plan on just winging this based on what I think should work; so I ask for pointers or a rough theoretical step-by-step for the install. I'm comfortable with the routing and other electronics work.
And so of course I ask: Has anyone either transplanted the piezo elements from the variax lr baggs saddles into different ones or facilitated a transplant or repair with aftermarket piezo elements?
I've got a spare strat copy I can transplant the variax into more-easily if this gets too daunting; but I'm a floyd rose guy and won't settle just yet.
I haven't used a rose in any of my vax plants but Jeff has=http://www.guitaristjeffmiller.com/guitars13.htm-I think I have seen a couple others and I will try to find them.Hope this helps.
Check out this post too=http://line6.com/community/message/39488#39488=Little discussion on the same subject.Peace...........................
graphtech makes a fully assembled floyd rose setup with the ghost pickups so they must have just the pickups for your bridge. the thing is that your current lr baggs pickups have 1 wire and ground through there body to the saddle to the bridge plate. wether your current variax saddles are compatable with your floyd rose im not sure and if not you would have to buy floyd rose compatable saddles from lr baggs if they make them just to mount the baggs pickups. as to the wiring. the blue is a ground the silver is positive and goes where your pickup wire is now. more than likely you would have to replace your lr baggs pickups either because the wire will be too short for the floyd rose let alone the fact that lr baggs pickups seem to be dying quite often judging by how many posts ive seen asking to buy them from line 6..
wiring the bridge for graphtechs is easy enough . i dont know of an adapter but its possible they have come out with one since i did mine. if you do find one could you post that info.
bottom line graph tech pickups are 100 bucks for a strat set not sure of the floyd set price. graphtech floyd rose complete is 299
