Hi guys,
First, thanks for all the advice and wisdom that you guys have posted in this group... it has all been really helpful in thinking through how to do my variax transplant. So I'm planning on transplanting variax electronics into a gibson les paul. I really like the way gibson blends the controls for the mag pickups and the piezo on their dark fire & dusk tiger. They use the traditional 3-way selector switch, but also build a potentiometer into the switch so that at any of the three positions, the piezo can be blended in. I'd like to use this switch to blend the variax with any of the three positions of the mag pickups.
Does anyone know where I can find this switch? I've asked at Stuart-Macdonald, and they don't have it. I've attached a picture of the switch.
thanks!
That's a very specialized switch, probably manufactured specifically for Gibson. Probably nowhere to go to find out, except them. Not sure how you'd find someone there to ask, but that looks like the task to me.
thanks guitarzan,
I've emailed gibson. we'll see if I hear back.
hey guys,
I heard back from Gibson, and pretty quickly, which was a good show of customer service. Turns out our hunch was right... they don't provide the switch aftermarket and currently don't have any aftermarket vendors that supply it either.
I guess it could hardly go any other way. You'll have to come up with another solution.
