What is your favorite mode?

I really like the Dorian mode, I like the sound of minor 3rds and 7ths but I really like the major 6th. Instead of using the vi chord to modulate to a minor key in a song, I usually use a ii chord for minor based progressions. What is your favorite mode?

I love the Lydian, because if you're playing in a major progression it sounds super- major, super- poppy, super- up sounding. You can also blow through it easily because of the two-step fingering from the second step through the 7th... if you're using the 1st 2nd and 3rd strings, just put the first step of the mode on the third string and run through the next six steps on the 2nd and 1st strings, and bend that 7th step up a half step and vibrato the octave. Go C.C. DeVille!

For those new to theory, the Lydian Mode is the same as the Ionian Mode (the Major Scale) EXCEPT that the 4th note of the mode is sharpened.

Try ascending the neck with the Ionian Major, and then descending with the Lydian. Fluid!

E Dorian is awesome because you have all of your open strings and all of your second fret notes.

Personally, I like the Phrygian-Dominant scale (built with these intervals .5 - 1.5 - .5 - 1 - .5 - 1 - 1).  Not, strictly spekaing, one of the church modes, but really fun to play around with all the same.
