Recommend a monitor for X3 Live?

I'd like to replace my guitar amp with a clean monitor to use with my X3 Live. There is so much to learn with the X3 Live that I thought it might be a good idea to take some of the options out of the mix. Roland Cubes seem pretty good but I could really use some ideas. Thanks much!
personally, i love the yamaha msr100. check that out.
I'm not sure if this technically qualifies as a "monitor", but I'm currently using a Tech 21 Power Engine 60 112 w/ my PODxt - and I must say I'm impressed with how it sounds. Solid state; flat response; snazzy cab; light & portable. I think they run around $329 new, but I scored mine on Fleabay for $225. Might be worth a look.
flat response
Well, the solid state power amp probably is, but that Celestion Seventy 80 speaker sure isn't.

I also use a Tech 21 Power Engine 60 with my XT Live and X3 Live. They sound great with the Tech 21..........
I just got a X3 Live and my dad had an old PowerEngine 60 left over from a rack mount Sansamp he sold. I thought (before searching) that it may be cool because it wouldn't "color" the sound like a guitar amp would since it was made for Tech 21 modeling amps. It's the older one with the Tech21 special design speaker. I just tried it today at low volume (kids sleeping) and it sounded pretty good. Do you guys run yours on the "line out" or the "Live" out into this powered speaker (or mixer)? I figured the separate outputs could be EQ'd a little different. Also do you just set the cabinet mic on the POD settings right up against the speaker to prevent room sound doubling while playing live? Just trying got one and trying to get some best practices established for the most accurate sound.
Thanks,

Wow this is exactly what I need. After reading quite a few reviews almost all seem to be using some form of Line6 modeler with this amp. So pretty much this is just a straight amp correct? Set the tones controls flat and use the level more as a volume max. Then control the tone and the volume from you Line6 (insert product here) correct? Gonna have to keep my eyes out for one of these. I thank you!
Straight amplifier? Well . . . kind of . . . but not really. Tech 21 describes it on their web page as an "all-purpose, multi-function, powered extension cabinet." It has features like a regular solid state amp (EQ controls, volume, power switch, etc.) and the cabinet design makes it look the part as well. Technically, you could plug a guitar into it and play it like a regular amp - though with a L6 X3L at your disposal, I'm not sure why you'd want to. Bottom line - it works well for what it was designed to do - provide a transparent power source for a pre-amp device.
Regarding EQ settings, you can set everything "flat" and be somewhat assured that the amp model you're playing will sound like it should. Most of the time, my EQ controls hover around 4-5 (5 being halfway), but that can vary depending on the amp model I'm using - i.e. a tad brighter for the Fender models; more mids for the Marshall stuff, etc. As has already been stated, the tonal characteristics of the unit's Celestion speaker will have an effect on your modeled tone, perhaps requiring a little bit of EQ fine-tuning on the Power Engine. I'd also note that the older Power Engines like my own use a custom-designed T21 2112-A speaker, which some users feel is better-suited to the task than the Celestion in the newer units. Speakers are a personal preference thing, so really - its whatever suits your needs. I'm still using the stock 2112-A in mine and have been perfectly satisfied with its sound and performance.
Your statement about using the volume control on the PE as a limiter and controlling the overall volume from the POD is exactly the way I use mine.
Lastly, I'd mention that the Power Engine comes in (3) cabinet / speaker configurations: 1x12, 2x12, 4x10. The 4x10 has Eminence speakers spec'ed with it.. Here's a link to the T21 website:

Good luck on your search.
I've been using a Yamaha Stagepas 150 M for the past few months. It's a mini PA which can also be used as a monitor (which is what I use it for). Very versatile and my X3L has never sounded better (I've tried it through various amps and other monitors in the past).
Worth a look

It comes with a detachable mixer ....
Hope you find somethign that works for you ....

Mackie SRM450. I've only gone back to an amp setup just a few months ago, but prior to that I've been lined in from a mulit-fx / modeler into the board, and fed to me onstage through a 450 or two. I've ran through JBLs, Yamahas, and a bucnh of others, but I never got the detail I did get with a 450. I've been on this setup for over 10 years, so I thought I had to share my opinion. BTW, my multi fx were a Digitech RP-10, onto an RP 6, then an RP 7, then onto a Boss GT-3, onto a GT-6, then a GT-8. I still occasionally leave mt Flextone III XL at home when the venue challenges me to walk a half-mile to play, and when I do, I grab the GT-8. The amp models sound alot more detailed, crisper high-end, fuller mids and lows - basically just more tone than when monitored through any other speaker. True, I wrote my patches using 450s, but I have tried writing through some JBL Eons and felt like there was a blanket over the monitor.
Anyway, it's just my opinion. Also, I haven't tried the Tech 21 unit you guys mentioned. Maybe it's the key....
I use KRK VXT6's with my X3 Live. They make Chuck Norris' nuts look like executive stress balls.
Is anyone using KRK Rokit RP5 monitors with their X3 Live? If so, what do you think of them?
I used a powered JBL Eon 15 as my stage monitor because it also serves as my band's PA main. I have noticed that if you edit and mix your tones to the speaker your going to use, at the volume your going to play, you will never be surprized at the result when gig time comes. Sure, my neighbors hate me, but I get some good tones and I know exactly what I'm going to get through the mains becuase all my tones were created using them.
Granted, I used the X3 Live as a "live" processor, so thats why I do it this way. I have been burned to many times by gettinga great sound on my studio monitors (Mackie MK5s) then have them sound like crap throught the live PA speakers.
try www.atomicamps.com they make active wedge monitors for guitar
